Birth Name: 夜神 月 ライト / Yagami Light

Date of birth: February 28th, 1986—presumably in Tokyo, Japan.

Nationality: Japanese

Blood type: A, which in Asia is commonly associated with creativity, cleverness, and cooperativeness, whereas their supposed negative traits include stubbornness and uptightness.

Physical Attributes: Light is a striking young man who not only stands out because of his remarkable bone structure, but also because of his light brown hair. Paired with sharp eyes and a straight nose, he often gets compared to a fox. He keeps his hair fairly short, and has no facial hair.

His skin tone is light, more on the warm side, and he tans more easily than his other family members.

He stands at a height of 179cm tall, making him taller than the average Japanese man who stands at approximately 170-171cm tall. Light weights about 54kg. He puts a lot of emphasis on how people perceive him, so taking care of his looks comes naturally to him.

Personality: Light Yagami is an extraordinarily intelligent individual, often placing number 1 on all national exams and mock exams. He is shown to be ambitious, hard working, disciplined, and very committed to his beliefs. Despite being popular amongst his peers, he doesn’t have any valuable friendships that extend past a polite companionship.

He is seen as a role model, both academically and individually, which has contributed to his high self esteem and eventual narcissism later in the Manga. Ever since he was a young boy, Light could do no wrong, he has scored top grades ever since he has entered school, was a prodigy at tennis, and has been perceived as the perfect son.

Yet despite having a wonderful childhood, and a privileged upbringing, Light is emotionally disconnected from his surroundings; he is very different in private than he is in public.

This is actually a common thing in Japan, at least partially— referring to Honne (本音) and Tatemae (建前) more specifically. It means „true self“ (Honne) and „Public Face“ (Tatemae)

Japanese people might not say their true feelings, opinions or desires in public settings, in order to protect social harmony, group settings, or even to evade eventual consequences (professional settings or school)

Much like that, Light is careful with how he portrays himself in front of others. His true personality is cold, calculated, and putting work/studying above family. This may have been influenced by his father, who, as we see during the Manga, also prioritizes his work as an officer over his family.

It is also through him, that Light developed his strong sense for justice and hatred for crime, which later spirals into evil.

He has no qualms about killing those oppose his laws, or might pose a threat to his identity as Kira. That is, after owning the Death Note.

Light is a charmer, manipulating others with ease. This makes him an unreliable character.

Canonically, it has been revealed that he is not able to love a woman, which means that he may be gay or completely aromatic.

In my opinion, and how I portray Light, he is not able to love anyone, not even himself.

That does however not mean that he cannot care for others, as he still cares for his family, but not as much as he values his life as Kira.
