not to use my era 2 reread to push an agenda but i cannot stress this enough: if you like alloy of law/era 2 you WILL like the discworld city watch series. very similar vibes except the jokes are sillier and the exploration of what it means to be a lawman is imo both firmer and more nuanced throughout the series while in no way being copaganda.....also the love interest (while equally iconic ily steris) is actually the main character's age but instead of getting very pretty and well thought out magic heavy fight scenes it's more like Boy Does This Guy Have Elbows
