Recently i like to challenge myself with finding composition that are not obvious. I went out to watch the sunrise to a beautiful viewpoint. Took the obvious pictures of the view, i even took a self portrait and then just sat there for a bit admiring my surroundings.  On the hillside i spotted a lot of fallen trees and i wondered if i could make something of that pattern. I went for a quick morning photo session today. Despite the rather grey and gloomy weather i managed to get some decent photos. This photo is from the same new year's day hike as the last one. Probably my favourite from that day. The clouds were moving very fast and the scenery therefore changed rather quickly. I took this photo on the 1st of January. I was hoping for some snow, but unfortunately that didn't happen. However as i went on a little hike i saw something i've never seen before. As i climbed out of the fog following a footpath i was greeted with sunshine and a cloud inversion, something i never seen at around noon before. Since winter hasn't really started here, i believe it is still sort of appropriate to post autumn photographs. So here's a nice shot from a hike i did back in the begging of November. It is nothing special, probably never gonna make it into my portfolio - even if i ever create one -, but i quite liked the vivid colours of the leaves and i thought i'd try to combine that with some long exposure water textures. I found this log with these little mushrooms. I rarely do macro photography, but i borrowed a fantastic fully manual macro lens from my friend, @dulaidavidnaturephotography . I absolutely enjoyed playing with it and as the third or fourth composition i found this group of mushrooms on the top of the log. I really liked how i could frame the shot showing the sky and the tall trees in the background. A week ago i decided to go on a hike. The weather was misty and cold, it kind of drizzled on and off however i was still hopeful that i could find some nice misty woodland shots. As i started my hike it started raining and as i was following the path i walked through multiple logging sites. Everything was muddy and the machines were loud, not photogenic at all. It is starting to be a tradition with @dulaidavidnaturephotography to hike up for sunrise at the end of October to this wonderful viewpoint. I love visiting familiar places multiple times in different conditions because they are never the same. This time the sky was covered by a thick blanket of clouds but we were lucky because there was a narrow crack on the east. This photo was taken on footpath crossing a very steep hillside. Normally you would see the other side of the valley and the colours of the forest. This day as i arrived at the spot it was a total whiteout. I waited for a couple of minutes and the mist started to move occasionally giving a sneak peak of the forest. I started the hike in a valley following a little stream. The autumn colours were at full glow and it was a nice cloudy day with some great diffused light. But it just became even more exciting when it began to drizzle and mist started to descend into the gorge. I watched the fog come down the hillside and looked for a composition.
