I can’t find the oc asks thing but I want to ask for Ilora & any of your ocs - what are their comfort foods? Do they have comfort objects (like a blanket, plush, favorite sweater etc)?

Ahhh yessss,

So Ilora does like to eat spam meat, Terran raspberries, and Terran ramen. She also has a collection of plushies that range from Cardassian origin to Terran origin. And like all of them lizards, she has a wardrobe full of sweaters, with many of them designed by Garak’s Clothiers.

One of my other OCs, Arly Rejar stress eats sliced mangos and binge-drinks kanar. He is a traumatized lizard man.

Hello, I saw your post on oc’s. And I noticed we’re mutuals! Wow! It’s quite an honor being a mutual of yours, ma’am. My Star Trek OC is named Ilora Betek—she’s a Cardassian spy although she isn’t your typical murder lizard. She has a soft side for a Bajoran woman called Vanka Eden (it’s like a massive crush and sort of an enemies to lovers thing). At the moment, she’s going through a bit of a goth phase so a lot of her clothing is based around human 21c stuff. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Oh I love her! Definitely haven’t heard of her before, but she seems like a lovely lady, and enemies-to-lovers is always hhhhhhh,,,,,, so good

🔥 If your OC known for having temper tantrums? If not, what gets them really angry? What makes their blood BOIL? Is there anyway to calm them down or are they unstoppable? What are they like when they’re angry? Do they take it out on their loved ones?

Contrary to popular belief, Ilora doesn’t easily get angry. But she is good at putting on a show of feigned anger; arguing with the fellow patrons at Quark’s just enough to rile them up, but not get thrown out herself is quite enjoyable for her.

What does make her angry is when her friends or fellow comrades are hurt. When someone decides to, say, deeply insult one of her Cardassian friends, she will form a convoluted, insidious plan to exact a fitting (if somewhat overkill) revenge. She may arrange for unfortunate, typically nonlethal accidents to occur at the most inconvenient of times. It’s not very easy to stop her once the gears start ticking.

Family is important to Ilora, particularly her found family, and she would never willingly take anything out on her loved ones.

❄️ What makes your OC sad, so sad that they can’t help but cry all day? How do they cheer themself up? Does their sadness upset any of their loved ones too?

The prospect of losing everything she’s worked for and losing her dearest friends scares her to death. She wouldn’t admit it, but the simple idea of losing these cherished things is one of the worst feelings she has felt for a long time. Unfortunately, like most Cardassians, she’s very closed off and won’t admit any sort of perceived weakness to others. That said, her Bajoran lover is one of the few people she feels she can open up to and this Bajoran ‘companion’ of hers has a habit of being able to set her back on the right track.

🔪 Has your OC ever killed someone? Ever had to defend themselves against violence? How did this make them feel? Or, alternatively, has your OC ever attacked someone? Seen someone die?

Ilora does not condone violence, however, on more than one occasion she has killed people or at least had a part in someone’s untimely demise. She is a somewhat high ranking military officer who is typically aboard Cardassian cruisers that patrol the Cardassian border, so that whenever that ship gets into a battle or skirmish, she does have to take charge to some extent to defend her ship and crew. That being said, she does prefer to resolve disputes in a diplomatic, non-violent manner.

In her childhood, she did personally witness her art teacher murdered right in front of her by a member of the Maquis, who was about to turn the gun on her, although the renegade was scared off by Cardassian security forces before he had a chance to pull the trigger again.

Tell us more about Ilora?

I would love to talk about Ilora. I first made her as my Star Trek Online character, but she quickly evolved a bit of story, so now she’s my main OC.

Her full name is Ilora Betek and she’s a twenty-seven year old gul in the Central Command, quite young compared to most officers of that rank. She was appointed this command role after the Detapa Council realized that Central Command lacked sufficient numbers of “hands on” officers.

She was born on the Cardassian homeworld, but her family moved to a frontier colony world early on when she was still young where she met some other children who would become lifelong friends (I’ve written a little bit on them on my AO3. At the moment, my AO3 stories mainly focus moreso on different characters, but Ilora does make appearances from time to time). She enlisted into the Cardassian military after a brutal attack on her home colony by disgruntled Maquis renegades.

Ilora is loyal to the Cardassian Union, first and foremost, but she isn’t as fanatically devoted to the State as many other Cardassian military personnel might be. Neither is she quite as arrogant or xenophobic as others. She does believe in cooperation between the Union and the Federation and Bajor, but she does often find herself suspicious at their motives. She does have a Bajoran girlfriend though who she loves.

Her hobbies mainly include causing trouble. She has been known to visit Terok Nor DS9 and walk into Quark’s to start unnecessary arguments with people. Although, she does know when to tone it down, never letting any incident having to be handled by station security.

She’s just a lil lizard. Doing lizard things.

🌙 If your OC could have one wish come true what would it be and why? Would there be consequences to this wish or would they regret it once they get what they want? What would they give in return for this wish to come true?

I think Ilora would come to regret being in the military. She only joined because the colony she grew up in was attacked by the Maquis. Therefore, I think she would have wished she followed her dreams of becoming an artist. I think she would obviously lose a lot of the expertise she gained in the Central Command, especially intelligence gathering and command. Besides that, there isn’t a very large trade off because she would be a lot happier.

☕️ Give us one (or more if you feel like it) of your OCs deep dark secrets! Why do they keep it hidden? Spill the tea!

Now for a real deep secret...she isn’t as loyal to the Cardassian State as she might appear to be. She used to trust and serve the Central Command with every bit of loyalty and allegiance, but things aren’t as plain and simple as they were once made out to be. The ‘enemies’ of the state aren’t the brutal monsters they were said to be; for instance, not all citizens of the Federation are bloodthirsty, amoral, murderers like propaganda dictates. It’s a treasonous to have uttered such a viewpoint, and while naturally, Ilora would never let her guard down around other Cardassians and especially around non-Cardassians, but there is something that long-held experiences can’t confirm. So, in summary, she’s a bit more skeptical in the wisdom of the Cardassian government than the next.

🥀 Has your OC ever been hurt by someone they love? Ever been betrayed? Abused? Attacked? Give me the angst! (if you’d like, write a short drabble about it!)

Not exactly, but she was surprised to learn that the woman she’d been dating on the Net turned out to be a Bajoran. Although that wasn’t anything terribly bad.

Let’s see though, she didn’t have a very loving set of parents. She might have loved them very much, but as time would have it, she was betrayed and abused by them early on. She has a hard time opening up to others and often flinches at unexpected contact.

Hmmmmmmmm, yuh I do. I miss gorlfren. I want her rn. Even tho I haven’t technically met her in person yet.

I’m craving the salts. I love salt. And I want salt right now. I think I’m constantly not getting enough sodium. Oh and also dark chocolate. Some kvas sounds good too!

Tbh, I think I like my name, Autumn. Only thing that could be cooler tho is Ilora Betek, which is the name of my main self-insert Cardassian OC.
