Umm idk if you’d be down for this but I really want to see Illumi/Kurapika with prompt #2
Thank you for your ask, anon! And I’m honestly fine with any pairing as long as they’re not abusive in canon or related. Also, they both have to be adults. I can do KilluGon stuff but it’s gonna be the cutest fluff ever if someone asks. Anyone, first time writing IlluKura, so wish me luck. Warnings: Hisoka spikes someone’s drink, and both Illumi and Chrollo are possessive freaks.…2. Person A is angry with Person B. They argue. Person C and friends watch from the distance wondering what they’re arguing about. It turns out Person A and Person B can’t agree on how to decorate their dorm room.…Kurapika heaved another sigh, as he swirled his coffee around in the clear plastic cup. Nine hundred jenny for a latte. Ridiculous. But he needed his liquid gold if he were to get through these next few hours of insanity and studying.
The man tucked a golden lock of hair behind his ear. A single drop earring hung from it, swinging in the wind. He carefully swerved around the puddles scattered over the ground. The weather had been fervently against sunshine for the last week or so. It certainly put a damper on everyone’s moods, though Kurapika didn’t mind the rain that much. It was peaceful and quiet, and that would always be preferable to noisy and crowded.
The Kurta took a sip of his latte as he made his way around a corner. His dorm was just a block away now, a fact that filled him with both relief and anxiety. Relief, because he’d finally be back in the warmth of his room. Anxiety, because who knew what his roommate was up to. Illumi Zoldyck wasn’t exactly the kind of person you’d want to interrupt. He was trigger-happy, ready to kill someone in an instant. Though, he’d been pretty tame so far.
He knocked on the door once. No answer. He turned the knob and pushed the door aside.
“Oh dear Lord,” he yelped, back slamming against the door again. “What in heaven’s name is that?”
There, on the wall opposite him, was a giant poster-sized picture of Illumi’s family.
“That is a photo of my family,” Illumi said, monotonously, peaking out at him from behind his desk. Black eyes stared at him, taking him in. It was such an intense look that Kurapika nearly recoiled. But no, he had to stand up to the psychopath.
“It covers half the bloody wall!” he yelled, waving at it.
Illumi tilted his head further, and Kurapika was worried it would do a full circle for a second. “My family deserves half the wall.”
“And yet, you won’t let me get a rug for our room?”
“You do not need a rug, I bought you slippers,” Illumi reasoned.
Kurapika glowered. “Are you like this to everyone, or am I just special?”
“Like what?”
“A controlling freak of nature?”
Illumi frowned. “I thought you liked it.”
“Liked what? Being told what to do?”
Illumi nods, black eyes still wide, and Kurapika tried to convince himself that it wasn’t cute at all.
He sighed, stopped to reign in his words, and spoke, “no. I don’t.”
“How unfortunate. I guess we won’t make a good pair, after all.”
Kurapika was taken aback. “Excuse me.”
“Whenever you’re near me your pupils dilate, and your heart-rate picks up. I thought it was clear you had feelings for me. It’s alright, I think you’d make a good Zoldyck as well -”
“Zoldyck? Who said anything about marriage?!”
Illumi ignored him. “We’d have to get rid of your attitude, though. You’re too righteous for an assassin, still. And then there will be the training. Don’t worry, I’ll be careful.”
“I am not going to marry you!”
“Then, why are you blushing?” Illumi asked. “I thought people blush only when they are happy.”
“We’re not even dating,” Kurapika continued, trying to cool his head.
Illumi stood. “That’s what Hisoka said you’d say.” He walked over to the shorter man and took hold of both his hands. Kurapika’s face grew hotter. “Do you want to go out with me? We can work our way up to marriage.”
“I … I thought,” Kurapika paused, swallowed, and spoke again, “I thought you said I wasn’t a good partner.”
“But you can be,” Illumi replied. “If you say ‘yes’, now, we’ll see.”
“Is this all an experiment to you?” he asked, hands balling up into fists.
“Yes or no?”
“Stop toying with me!”
“Kurapika.”
“I don'tmmmph.”
…
‘If he starts rambling, just kiss him. Perfect opportunity.’
Indeed, that was what Hisoka had told him. The Kurta’s lips were soft against his, warm in an almost scalding way.
'You’ll want more. If he doesn’t push you away, keep going.’
Kurapika’s fingers made their way up to his neck, under his curtain of hair.
“Goodness, you’re impossible,” the Kurta whispered, before kissing him again. He was far more skilled in kissing than Illumi. While Illumi’s kisses were sloppy and amateur, Kurapika’s were passionate and knowing. Where’d he learn how to kiss like this?
…
The hell was he doing? This wasn’t like him. Had that coffee been spiked?
Illumi’s arms wrapped around his waist, and all memory and concern of the coffee and that strangely familiar red-head faded away.
“I love you,” he whispered.
“Love?” Illumi repeated. “That is good, yes?”
A giddy, intoxicated laugh escaped him. “Yes, very good.”
…
“Sound like it’s going well,” Hisoka smirked.
“What did you put in his coffee?” asked the man beside him. Chrollo Lucilfer stood there, maintaining an uninterested facade.
“Oh, nothing too bad,” Hisoka waved his worries away. “Just a little something to loosen him up. Not enough to make him agree to things he wouldn’t otherwise. That’s what you’re worried about, no?”
Chrollo didn’t respond. He didn’t have to.
“I wasn’t sure at first,” said the magician. “You’re in love with our dear Kurta as well.”
“Hardly,” replied the man, and Hisoka was ready to call 'bullshit’ when he continued speaking. “It’s true I feel a level of affection for him that goes beyond friendship, but love is somehow out of the question. I do not pursue things I cannot have in their entirety. I’d get bored eventually, anyway.”
“But if he did give you all of him,” Hisoka prompted, “would you fall for him?”
Chrollo glanced up, and the look in his eyes sent a shiver of pleasure down Hisoka’s spine.
“In an instant.”
…
Little bit of KuroKura at the end there. I hope you don’t mind since it’s completely one-sided. But yeah, that was quite an experiment. I don’t know if I did them justice. They’re pretty tough to write. Chrollo and Kurapika usually bounce off each other pretty well, same with Leorio and Kurapika. This one was a bit different. But, I made use of Illumi’s cluelessness in regards to relationships. Hope you liked it in some way. And remember, prompts are still open, so if there is something you’re dying to have written, just tell me and I’ll do my best.
