To me, in this AU, Poe may be the person who came close to beating Ranpo during a race once but not close enough. Ranpo acknowledged him and became his close frienemy. When you figure this out, you were a bit confused. Why hadn't Ranpo decided to tell you about this? It wasn't that big of a deal right? Well, unlike Dazai, Ranpo tells you nothing.

As for Yosano, you didn't know much about her besides the fact she was a mechanic for the guild. It was race to find pit crew members for races such as these, so everyone was grateful. Rumors about the fact she used to be a mechanic for the Port Racers went around, but you never paid much attention.

Now for your relationship. On the surface, you and Ranpo seem like the perfect, childish couple. But those who are closer to you can easily tell the difference. When it's just you and Ranpo, things are off. At first, it was all going well, and you assumed he would open up later on since the relationship was still new. However, months late you're easily proved wrong. Every time you ask about his day, he'll brush you off with a laugh and whatnot, and ask about yours instead. He never seemed interested in your answer though, you knew this, he was far to egotistical after all.

Now stumbling upon him and Yosano would be messy. For example, after a race that he won, like always, you decided to congratulate him with your usual affections. When you finally spotted him through the crowd, you didn't expect to see him with another woman. Much less one on the opposite side. She was gorgeous, and she was making him smile in a way you never seen before. How come he never looked at you this way? As if he could sense a disturbance, Ranpo glanced over at you with a grin, only to be met with your distraught expression.

You didn't want to see anymore, you couldn't. So you left without saying another word and took a ride home from someone random. His messages were left untouched, calls unanswered, and no contact on any socials. Meanwhile, Ranpo tried not to worry. Maybe you were just busy. However, the strange feeling gnawed at his heart everytime he thought of your expression during the race a few weeks ago, but he never reached out. It remained like this until he finally showed up at your door. You were less than decent at the moment, but he didn't seem to care. It was only when you went all teary eyed did he decide to apologize and embrace you.

It was a week later that you noticed something changed in him. He started speaking about what he likes, his favorite colors, how much he likes your clothes, his favorite movies, the classes he enjoys in uni, everything. So you eventually decide to ask about how his day went, and who Yosano and Poe were. He answered with ease, and he thinks he finally understands the importance of communication. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first nor last arguement either of you would have.

The both of you know this, especially since Ranpo is just now discovering how much he needs to keep communicating in a relationship for it to work out. With more competition showing up (and not just racers), he knows he needs to step up his game and be more of a lover to you than ever before.
