it is just unimaginably frustrating to me when ppl talk abt fictional characters as if they were real people. "Muyeon doesn't deserve to feel guilt towards Yehwa much less try to poison Baeksa to get Yehwa back because he didn't help Yehwa when he was alive" first of all it's fiction, it's made up, a character doesn't have to be "deserving" of anything their job is to be a piece of a narrative not to be a person in court awaiting judgement. his job is to be a character and within his character and this narrative it makes sense that he would be acting irrationally because in what world does a character who has been grieving for FOUR years and ridden with guilt be acting rationally!!!! secondly yes he said he didn't do anything to help but thats his fucking guilt talking!! he did try to do something and its too little too late and thats the point of a tragedy!!! a character cant always do the right thing at the right time, if he was able to it wouldnt be a tragedy. he's an unreliable narrator because he wouldn't let him make any excuses for himself and frankly why wouldn't you see that. why wouldnt a dude who's suicidal 24/24 NOT blame everything on himself. third and final point it is frustrating to me personally that people cant see that Muyeon has always tried to be true and good to Yehwa even after he died (he's stuck by Baeksa all this time trying to keep Yehwa's body safe before even seeing that Yehwa's memories could still resurface.) THATS what makes their relationship poignant and tragic, that's what makes Yehwa's last misunderstanding devastating and that's what makes Muyeon's character compelling - he had conscience. if he had been for all intent and purpose horrible to Yehwa then sure, he got what's coming for him, you lose what you dont treasure, etc. but he wasn't!! he tried to get Yehwa out of there he killed all who had abused Yehwa. but he failed when its most important and if he didnt have any conscience he wouldnt fucking care. he would just flee. he wouldnt feel a single shred of guilt. but he stays. lets himself be tortured by a being who resembles his long gone stepfather. driving himself into a corner trying to poison this near-immortal mythical being. be killed, then be revived, over and over. he tried to be good and the love was there but it couldn't save anyone and now it's going to haunt him forever - and that's what makes him a good character. he wouldnt be if you just strip him of his conscience.
#if u paint muyeon as a bad person who didnt care for yehwa then whats the fucking point - thats not a poignant story thats just regular#toxic top backstory#like my god ppl are completely getting muyeon wrong im so sorry my babygirl. im so sorry the comments section of the#illegal reading website is treating you like this#a twisted fate#SOMEONE has to see this. even when ive temporarily forgotten abt this manhwa.#duri vs toons
