This, is Aurelia Sostrate. A species known as Ilanima, they're a race created by the Air Goddess, and are typically found living in Greek inspired Mediterranean islands off the north coast of Iskterra (a continent much like Africa).

Aurelia here, is actually one of the oldest characters I had from the Ye Olde Alcazar, but her previous storyline was scrapped until I came up with her new version.

She's the daughter of an army captain, and grew up learning how to fight and work alongside the military. She could have easily joined them herself, and would have climbed the ranks quickly, but she always had an itch to travel, so when she turned of age, she followed that urge.

After travelling the length and bredth of Iskterra, her travelling bug takes her across the seas, and she ends up on the continent of Naria. However due to the wars on Naria, her species are considered a myth, and she quickly learns to hide her wings and ears. Taking odd jobs, being hired as a body guard, and fighting in battles when paid, she essentially becomes a mercenary.

It’s through this line of work, that she stumbles across a newly created Vampire, Dante. Taking him under her wing (pun intended), she's the one that trains him in weapons and how to control his more feral nature. The pair, along with another woman called Lyra, form a small band of mercenaries, who are eventually hired by a girl named Maristella. Their group briefly become pirates, overthrow the Pirate King, and Maris takes his place with Aurelia as her advisor.

Many years later, Aurelia and Maris are contacted by Dante, and with the use of their ship Siren Song, aid him in saving Willow and Ivan from the clutches of the Fae.

Aurelia, is essentially the entire reason I created the Ilanima species, because I couldn’t bear to give her up fully. And I couldn’t visualise her as anything BUT an angel-ish being. So thanks to her I made a huge culture and society and ended up with a dozen more Ilanima to fill said society, all because I couldn’t give up one angel girl :’D

okay so I like the idea of my Bird Folk getting bird feet, less thrilled by the idea of figuring out how to draw them properly, but I am thrilled by the idea of creating funky little shoes and sandals for them to wear!!!

also thinking that they'll get scaled arms and hands, possibly losing a digit off of hands/feet, so that'll be fun to draw. I also really the like idea of them having osprey like hands, so their pinky finger can pivot around for extra grabbin'. Maybe the feet too... Also ideas of raptor claws just for the fun of it.

AND THEN I'm thinking more feather coverage? Primarily in the back/chest/neck area, maybe fur neck ruffs cause those a cute... And lastly, I might make the feathered ears more Dramatic, rather than just Fae-with-a-few-feathers. Maybe some extra traits/mutations like extra wings, just for variation and fun.

so all of this is very fun, but now I'll have at least nine (9) characters that would need updating, one of which routinely disguises herself as a human... so I need to figure out how that would work with the changes.

You get a two-for-one since I can't talk about one of these siblings without the other!

These, are Hadithi (They/Them) and their sibling Mavazi (She/They), they're a race called Kaitkuu, and come from a massive sheltered cover, full of tropical islands, called Akinba, or the Sea of a Thousand Nations, located in Iskterra. The Kaitkuu are a race of draconic inspired people, tall, strong, and lithe, they can be formidable fighters, but are mainly known to be crafters and inventors of the highest degree. They invented TRAINS in this world.

Anyway these two chose to leave their home nation, and travelled to the mainland in search of work, and to send money back to their ever growing family of siblings.

Hadithi was always the less sociable of the two, and while close to Mavazi, didn't want the same things from life as them. Hadithi is skilled with a longbow, and is extremely accurate in their targeting. And after the pair travelled with merchants for a short time, Hadithi chose to become a hunter and trapper of the various game found in the savannahs of Iskterra. They've formed a close bond with a small dragon family living out there, so now Hadithi hunts, be it for food, pelts, or tracking down dangerous animals.

Mavazi, on the flip side, is incredibly social and friendly always chatting and making conversation. While she didn't have the same interest in hunting as Hadithi did, she's still trained in the use of weapons, and typically uses a bo staff, mainly as a deterrent. While Hadithi found their place on the plains, Mavazi continued travelling with the merchants, heading further and further north until she reached the islands of Yua, where the Ilanima resided.

While the Kaitkuu are known for their inventions, the Ilanima are known for their weaving and textiles, something Mavazi holds great interest in. Back home she'd been the family weaver, and eventually the town’s seamstress, so it wasn't too hard to find a similar job with the Ilanima. A few more years pass, and she has her own shop, creating custom silks, patterns, and gowns, for the wealthy Ilanima. It’s while doing this that she meets, and starts to court Koralia one of the Ilanima's leaders, known as the Councillor of Infrastructure.

The pair still meet up somewhat regularly, although Hadithi hates the busy city and Mavazi hates the dusty grass lands. They tend to meet in quieter coastal villages to catch up, and while they don't see each other too often, they have a very close bond.

IIII can’t think of any common traditions for Ilanima, my bird people. I’ve got three for the Kaitkuu, so it would be nice if I could think of three traditions for the other species, but I’m drawing a blank...

For the Kaitkuu is how they greet one another, their hair length, and their body jewellery. But I’m not sure what to do for the Ilanima? It would be nice to have a traditional greeting in there, but what it would be IDK. The other stuff is more flexible but it needs to be something they do everyday or something physical about them???

One of the dominant species of Alcazar is the Ilanima, their cultural appearance is based off of Greek, Italian, and Mediterranean societies. Which is why I’ve roughly based these airships off some of their boat shapes. The circles are a specific type of gemstone currently creatively called ‘Flying Stones’, these blue stones naturally seemed inclined to levitate, and while they don’t propel, its fairly easy to attach them to something with sails and start flying.

Biggest - Merchant ship, used to transport goods or people, large and slower flying, they can travel massive distances for as long as the crew has food. The first Ilanima to discover the flying stones currently has the largest merchant fleet and has made a hell of a lot of money selling the stones and transporting goods. 

Middle - Fishing boat, the first air born ship created, since the group of Ilanima that discovered the flying stones were fishermen, it made sense they’d immediately slap the stones on their boats and start flying around. It should probably be a bit smaller compared to the ship...

Smallest - Racing ‘bike’, because if there’s one thing I know, its that people like to go FAST. There are legal racing events, and also illegal ones which can get very dangerous. Also less powerful versions for zipping around the cities.

 So far I’ve only drawn the Kaitkuu (These Guys) but I want to try and do the Moawai and Ilanima next, since these three (and humans) are the four primary species and are the most common, with Fae and Vampires being uncommon, and the Cascrium and Velolta being rare!

Nebulous beings with the ability to change forms into anything they have chance to ‘acquire’, must be something with a central nervous system, but not limited by size

Beings that if given the chance could potentially live forever, tall, with long limbs and slender features. Highly skilled in magic.

An unusual being that can only be brought into creation through the poisoning and death of a host, at which point the venom reanimates and transforms the host into a vampire.

Creatures of Earth and Nature

Stubborn and craft beings with the ability to survive in most environments against all odds, often considered less interesting than the others, but hold many surprises.

Creatures of Water and Ice

Long serpent like fish beings, unable to traverse land they have dominated the oceans and rivers of Alcazar instead, and are known for their fighting prowess.
