Favourite ships in Free!: Ikuharu

I honestly love this scene SO much!😍 At the beginning, I was a huge Makoharu shipper, throughout season 2 turned over to Souharu and in the very end my ultimate OTP became Ikuharu😊

I already loved them in High☆Speed! since Ikuya was pining so damn hard for our freestyle boy☺️ But the scene where they FINALLY reunite in season 3, let them become my ultimate OTP!😉

Just the way they look at each other when they finally see each other again after such a long time!😍😍😍 This just SCREAMS longing!!!😍😍😍

I'm aware that the amount of their shipping fans is quite small since Makoharu and Rinharu are the superior ships with Haru. And that's totally fine. But I truly think that the relationship between Haru and Ikuya is so very underrated and that's why I wanted to create this very gifset for the small Ikuharu fanbase which exists out there^^

My Thoughts on Sailor Moon S/Sailor Moon Crystal 3

So I’m a bit of a Revolutionary Girl Utena fan.

Tiny bit.

But I’m also a large fan of the Sailor Moon manga for some things.

I love the 90s anime vs Crystal, despite some of the neat things in Crystal. The enemy being invaders who take over the body and have Eldritch forms was awesome…

Then I saw the THING that came out of Professor Tomoe in the 90s again and was like “no".

Did I mention the main director of this did Revolutionary Girl Utena?

I think the main thing for me is that the 90s anime went out of their way to make Haruka more of the they/them that Takeuchi seemed to want, and while Crystal did do a bit with Haruka and Michiru being mysterious, the 90s anime really worked to lay down not only that they had another mission from the Inner Soldiers, but really worked to set up a reason why they would later become antagonistic against each other, over instant hate that Crystal and the manga gave.

Overall I think Ikuharu's take on some aspects of it were very interesting, and really added to the mystery around how things were working with the Death Busters. At the same time, the thought of them being alien "witches" with Eldritch horror true-forms, was a great addition in the manga.

But yet again, I love that there would be a good "middle" between the two - Tomoe and the Witches 5's wackiness and bitter feelings towards each other would work well for them vying to gain the title of "Magus", Kaolinite being one of the first to be 'used' by the invaders and Tomoe's original push to save his daughter, resulting in him being used as a pawn as much as she was, are honestly great in their own series.

In a way, I see the main point of the 90s anime to be about the Messiahs not being the ones who have to do all that you think on their own, but the one who can go and do the right thing when the time is right. Sailor Chibimoon befriending and believing in Hotaru, as well as Sailor Moon believing the same thing and not wanting to destroy Hotaru when she was being controlled by Mistress 9, allowed Sailor Saturn to appear, destroy Master Pharaoh 90, and it allowed Sailor Moon to, ultimately, save Hotaru to be free to return to her life for a short time.

In contrast, Crystal/the manga shows more of what happens with the ending of the Silver Millennium, and how the different specializations of the Soldiers still resulted in them viewing Sailor Moon in a light that made them wish to protect her. As well, Sailor Moon wishes to befriend and protect those around her, and that carries over to her daughter and the heir who will also light the way - Chibiusa.

Overall this is probably the best part of both the manga, Crystal, and anime. Ikuhara and Takeuchi create great enemies who's threat is one that the Sailor Soldiers must deal with, and also allow inter-personal conflicts between the Inner and Outer Soldiers to cause enough friction to be interesting - one that I wish had been expanded on for the next part of the series.

Then again...SuperS/Dream arc/Eternal is what it is.

My Thoughts on Sailor Moon SuperS/Sailor Moon: Eternal

The last season to be aired from the original 90s series, this was one of the last seasons I saw. While it was full of "Girl Power" messages and the usual DiC stuff, when I finally got to the manga...

I know some people like that the Amazoness Quartet get more focus in the movie, but I feel that no matter what, this arc is just...well, it's the most filler of the series, and that's with Ail and An's arc to consider!

I think the main issue with this arc is both the writing in either the Crystal movie-version, or the story in the anime, has the problem with being after Sailor Moon S, and everything with concern of Helios, Mamoru and his role as protectors of Earth, Nehelenia's role as antagonist, and everything else is not as interesting between this and the upcoming season of "now we fight other Sailor Soldiers".

I think the 90s anime also suffers from having the time to dedicate to the enemy, yet their actions are not exactly forgivable in the same way earlier ones, like the Black Moon Clan or even the Death Busters, were. With the Black Moon, you could argue in the 90s anime that their main issue was from Wiseman and Prince Diamond being who they were, resulting in Rubeus mistreating the Sisters and in Sapphire also acting as he did until he finally had too much. The Death Busters being people who decided to do evil for power from the aliens, and Professor Tomoe not really being in control after he makes a deal out of desperation, results in everyone being far more sympathetic.

But the Amazon Trio and Amazoness Quartet's general actions in the anime come off as those doing their job and not caring about the consequences until Fish Eye realizes they aren't human (which...ok, why are you caring about that now?), while the Amazoness Quartet only ever think about not growing up and are determined to simply be childish, and even cruel, as they continue. Their own heel-turn and turn to good is equally odd with everything else, and it would've been nice to see them as befriending Chibiusa and her being able to reach out to them, similar to how Sailor Moon befriended the Sailor Soldiers, but with the twist of having to heal them like Tuxedo Mask tried (and failed) to heal his four generals.

Helios' connection to Mamoru, and Mamoru's power and connection to the Earth, are also kept until literally the final few episodes, which...listen, Ikuharu disliked Mamoru, I get him being sidelined due to that, but I have no clue what the director for this season was doing, beyond trying to have a thought about dreams and growing up and failing miserably.

Eternal, while feeling rushed, does have the enemy and the effects of the Dead Moon show up quickly. While the Amazoness and Trio aren't given as much time as some would like - and I call bs on Hawkeye being genuine with Makoto in the end - I honestly have to say the 'curse' placed and used on Mamoru and Usagi is, by far, the weirdest part, and what feels like a rushed ending. It really feels like Takeuchi was rushing this whole arc to get to the end, and both the anime and the Crystal version show it. Parts of it are dream-like, but it's not able to hold up between S and Stars.

No that's not just because the lesbians and their bestie were raising Child with Awesome Powers weren't there either. If they had managed to keep Ikuharu on standby I think this part, about dreams and what it means to have or obtain the dreams you have as a child over what happens as an adult, would've been handled a bit better.

Also in there would not be the way Helios and Chibiusa interact - holy crap but that is not as sweet as they might think. At least Eternal makes her a bit older...not by much but also no, the "she's really..." doesn't count, she is a small child who only just started aging, mentally and physically, and gets to fight evil by moonlight. No daylight love right now!

This arc is not loved by fans for a reason, in either adaptation. A rushed story could have been helped by focusing a bit more on Chibiusa and her gaining allies, power, and fully coming into her own as a Sailor Soldier who can protect the Earth in place of her mother was there, but not enough to work. Nehelenia as a dark reflection of Queen Serenity, and throwaway lines that only make lore-people wanting to know more, only make me think that she appears as the power of one Moon Soldier is about to be given to another - a way to test the power of one who would become the next Queen Serenity. What changed between then and now, though, was the fact that now the Princess also fights along her guardians, and will use her power more freely and with greater prejudice than the Queen did.

This part of the series and attempting Warcrimes...why do I torment myself like this?
