[EP] Batida & Mayra Andrade veröffentlichen "Bom Bom Remixes" EP!

Batida und Mayra Andrade haben am 28. Juni die "Bom Bom Remixes" EP über Crammed Discs veröffentlicht. Die Kollaboration zwischen Batida, dem angolanisch/portugiesischen Künstler, der ein wichtiger Katalysator der afro-elektronischen Szene ist, und der kapverdischen Sängerin Mayra Andrade wurde überarbeitet, um die positive Energie des Songs auf den Dancefloor zu bringen.

Ursprünglich erschien "Bom Bom" bereits 2022. Die EP enthält Vocal- und Instrumental-Mixe des Tracks von Ikonika, einer der angesehensten Artists der britischen Bass-Szene, und vom aufstrebenden südafrikanischen Produzenten Thakzin, der im letzten Jahr für Aufsehen sorgte und den Grundstein für 3Step legte, einer faszinierenden Mischung aus Amapiano, Afro und Deep House.

What an engaging website! I like how it simplified beat-making for a noob like me and got progressively more informative. It lost me by the end (Advanced Topics) but I can still discuss the parts I truly enjoyed.

As a strumming singer/songwriter, I normally DO NOT dabble in drum stuff. But right off the bat, the tempo and drum section made me feel like a kid again, activating creativity in me that I do not get to explore on the guitar. While I can be percussive in my playing and tap a reggaeton beat with the palms of my hands, it’s an entirely different experience clicking spots to replay on a loop. A computer musician. It made me feel like a natural, but I just listen to my gut instinct and “made music with my eyes” and got some quirky results.

I enjoyed leveling up to beats with pitches, it was more rhythm stuff but harder to make sound cohesive and not dissonant. But I like to lean into the chaos and make quirky beats. I also loved exploring the Dorian and Lydian scales. I think they are so cool.

Finally, I enjoyed all the sections showing us music from different eras. All were songs I have never heard or haven’t heard in this way before. I came away from this assignment with new additions to my music library (Wayne Smith, Rhythm & Sound, Ikonika, A Tribe Called Quest).
