Without attending Mike Seipel’s induction a few years ago I never even would’ve known that it would’ve been possible for me to also be considered as a international waterski Hall of Fame member. Thank you to IHOF, IWWF, USA WATERSKI AND THE AMERICAN BAREFOOT CLUB. And all of the people who nominated me. I want to thank people who stood beside me as I trained and competed in each tournament that ultimately led to numerous world records and winning 4 consecutive world overall championships because without you I would not be standing here right now. My brother Pete, who learned to barefoot first! mom and dad, for buying a lake house, teaching us to ski and the Shermalot Ski Team for letting me grow into my spot in the show. My coaches included Mike Seipel, Ron Scarpa, Lane Bowers, Mark Voisard, who all gave up countless hours of their time to help me improve. And no matter how much I tested their patience they were always willing to buy another tank of gas so we could ski more. Without their belief in me, their encouragement, motivation, and instruction I definitely would have gotten lost somewhere along the way. I didn’t get here today without sacrifice! When I think back to training, getting up early in the morning to get the best water, to workouts at 500am with my best friend Anna who I otherwise didn’t have time to see, skiing 4 shows a day at Cypress Gardens, traveling with Don Buffa to every corner of the world, all while obeying my dad to get a college degree, I realize how much I hated it at the time..but I truly loved competing. You’re all looking at me like I have something perfound to say....I can only ask myself was it all worth it??? The answer is undeniably yes!!...
