Uhh I recommend more by artists than genres, so here's some artists sorted into genres/groups?

I'd group AJJ-The Mountain Goats and then Oh Hellos-Arcadian Wild for folk, since the 2 groups have different vibes.

Chonny Jash - start anywhere! if you want to ease in and know Will Wood, Tim Minchin, or That Handsome Devil listen to one of those power hours [covers of their songs] and then try another album. Albums will have similar sounds, so if you dislike the sound of one go to another. Chonny's Charming Chaos Compendium and the new still-releasing album themed around Majora's Mask have lore/a plot too! CCCC, TMPH, THDPH, WWPH, and Covered in Discontent are all cover albums; Gothic Whore, the before., the ongoing album, Chonny Jash Power Hour, The Ship of Theseus, and most singles are originals

Jhariah - I'm still getting through his discography myself but listening to his youtube channel's music playlist in order hasn't steered me wrong! His song RISK, RISK, RISK! was my first song of his that I heard and Whose Eye Is It Anyway? is a popular one so if you want a specific starting point these work well!

Will Wood - I recommend starting with his album Everything is a Lot because I like a lot of its songs, but honestly any of his albums works. There's no lore to stress over knowing to my knowledge, so you can just put a "all Will Wood songs" playlist on shuffle and see what you like. He has a lot of range in terms of speed, though, so while something like Skeleton Appreciation Day is relatively slow, he's also got BlackBox Warrior OvO'

Lemon Demon - I'd say go with View-Monster for a first album but honestly Lemon Demon is just.. Weird /pos. Start anywhere and you'll still go for one hell of a ride.
