Simon facing Igjarjuk
I've wanted to draw this scene for a long time, and finally took a crack at it. I still feel relatively inexperienced drawing backgrounds and full screens, so it definitely didn't turn out exactly as I imagined in my head. The energy and drama of this particular bit of the book is something that is really special to me. I'll keep improving and come back to drawing this scene for sure!

A big 'Thank You' to Shawn Speakman, publisher of Grim Oak Press and author Tad Williams for the lively and entertaining conversation as we unveiled cover art yesterday for the newly illustrated classic novel 'The Dragonbone Chair' by Tad coming from Grim Oak this summer!
An honor and pleasure to interpret this scene of the protagonist Simon in his epic confrontation with the ancient white dragon Igjarjuk.

Igjarjuk, the white dragon of Urmsheim
When I first read The Dragonbone Chair, I had such a vivid image of this creature in my mind. This drawing is pretty close to what I imagined!
Now that I'm finally doing some Memory, Sorrow and Thorn fanart I'm kind of on a roll! I plan on making some more drawings soon

Hidohebi, the Blackwyrm
I'm reading Brothers of the Wind right now, and I'm loving it! Really interesting to see a different perspective of Hakatri and Ineluki. And of course, I really love the dragon.
Here, she's a little different than the description in the book: I wanted her to look really old and big, and to have some similarities to my design for Igjarjuk.

Shurakai the Red Dragon
Here she is, before her bones go towards the creation of the Dragonbone chair. As with my design for Hidohebhi, I wanted her to at least somehwat resemble Igjarjuk. Hoping to design Khaerukama'o the golden dragon next!
