sweeney is a summer’s rain  ,  he’s the stifling sweating heat and the moisture and humidity that’s so thick you could close your eyes and drown in it.  for a man who spends so much time on the road  ,  he’d rather be wet on a hot summer’s day than freezing through his many layers. he prefers the heat to that  ,  he prefers the sun and the baked earth and the stiff breeze when you’ve sweat through your clothes and every bit of air feels like dunking yourself in an ice bath. he likes sweating beers  ,   and the way an afternoon can be passed.   drunk on the summer’s warmth.  liquid and lazy and content to look out at the way the grass sways in the light wind.  he prefers when the world is full of green  ,  when there’s the smell of growth in the air  ,  when the heat bears down and you can feel the life around him. 

conversely  ,  sweeney is that heat that beats down on you and scalds already overheated skin  ,  he’s the feeling of clothing sticking to skin  ,  and the way the heat is unrelenting. is a screaming  ,  scorching thing that makes the blood run high.  that makes you angry for no reason at all. when the air is so muggy and weighed down with moisture that your sweat does nothing to alleviate it.  the days when it’s so hot even stripping to your skin and not moving at all can’t fix it  ,  when you’re in fits  ,  slamming the floor with your hands as if that would somehow make the sun stop.   make the temperature drop.  sweeney is unrelenting and there is a poetry there.  in the way growth wilts  ,  in the way it drowns  ,  in the way it comes back.
