Bands: Here’s What To Include When Selling
~Bacon's Blog~

So lately we’ve had a theme of sales. Well one of the biggest mistakes bands make when it comes to sales is not telling people enough about their product. This isn’t just not posting about it enough, but not getting into the nitty gritty of what it is and what it represents. I want to unpack this a little bit in this article.
We’re going to dig into some of the pertinent musical details you might have forgotten to share, critical details about the physical product itself, and then the most important: buying details. When potential customers feel confident about these things, they are much much more likely to buy your record.
3. Musical Details To Push
So there are a few crucial points that I think are important to remember. First and foremost, make sure that people are very aware of your core genre and influences. If you claim to have no genre or influences, you’re an arrogant asshole. People want an idea of what your music is going to sound like before they press play.
Just be sure to talk about this stuff regularly in interviews, post about it on your page, and include it in your ads. It can be as simple as saying, "Prepare for a hearty dose of Slayer-inspired thrash!" and going from there. You want to give people an understanding of what it is you’re trying to sell and why. Make sure to explain the impact this has for the listener!
2. Product Details To Push
Are you doing jewel cases? Vinyl? Cassettes? What type of material are your shirts printed on? Do any of the physical formats have bonus tracks? It’s amazing how often people forget to include stuff like this. They are important for fans who like to buy physical product, they want to make sure they aren’t getting crap.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to make a little video just going over all the features of your products and showing them to the fans. This way, people will know exactly what they are in for and not feel like they have to "wait and see" when they get it from UPS.
1. Sales Details to Push
Where do people buy the goddamn album? This is another huge one bands forget. People will assume that fans will know to go to Bandcamp or your Etsy or your Bigcartel or whatever. They don’t know – you have to push them there. If you don’t keep pushing them, they aren’t going to end up getting there!
Make sure that you are fully communicating this by pinning a post with these details and making the optimal buying location the link in your Instagram bio. If people have even the smallest excuse not to, then they will not buy. Don’t give them an excuse.
So these ideas may seem simple, but I guarantee you that they will help to sell more records and move the needle for your band. So often sales is just a question of removing excuses. So why not do your best to do just that?

Please excuse the clutter in my office today. I did an extra photoshoot in here earlier for my other account at @misty.s_world and my incompetent production crew still hasn't gotten everything reorganized 🤦🏼♀️. It's less than three weeks until Halloween so I want to show you another vintage Halloween image.🎃 In this one we see that the two young ladies have finally managed to get a boy to shut up by shoving an apple in his mouth.🍎 Look at their ecstatic expressions of sheer joy.😃 I think many of you out there can relate to this. Please click on the link in my bio to visit my Etsy store. Even if you don't buy, the increased traffic from IG will make it look like this account is accomplishing something. If you do decide to buy, use the code LISA 2024 for 15% off. And if you live outside of the USA, DM me for ways around those exorbitant shipping fees from the US Postal Service 📬💰🙀. #refrigeratormagnets #refrigeratormagnet #fridgemagnet #magnet #fridgemagnets #magnetcollection #magnetcollector #etsyshopowner #halloweendecor #halloweenmagnets #halloweenart #vintagehalloween #halloweenpostcards #vintagehalloweendecorations #vintagehalloweendecor #halloweendecor #artmagnet #artmagnets #vintagegreetingcards #vintagepostcard #antiquepostcard #womenownedbusiness #mistysworldboutique (at Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CU7ihYqAXM5/?utm_medium=tumblr
