i still adore mileven. they were innocent kids and they protected saved and loved each other. it wasn't about wanting a connection but needing one (to me that is true romance). the mileven s1/2 bond was breathtaking and was the emotional core of the show, it spoke straight to the audience's dreaming inner child

i had to let go though bc the show itself has made it abundantly clear to me that mike is gay and el doesnt need a man and all of that

#ifwhen byler is canon in st5 it had better be actually great i want to be moved to tears #because they couldve stuck with mileven and developed it as endgame throughout s3/4 and that would have been great? like really great?#since they started sabotaging mileven tonally in s3 with the immature miscommunication boys vs girls teen comedy #everyone acknowledges that the excellent nostalgic haunting vibe the show once had has entirely shifted into something cheaper and dumber #yea they could have just not done all that and leant into the soulmateism #but they did do all of that. so to me #the only redemption for trashing mileven can be byler becoming the best gay romance story of our generation #lol thats my appraisal of the facts and thats why im fujoshing about byler now. meanwhile the little 12yo mileven fangirl within me mourns #stranger things
