im at my limit reading books marketed as capital Q ~Queer~. people said "let queer books be bad!" and meant it seriously. either the plot and characters arent fleshed out beyond basic tropes, or the plot and characters arent fleshed out plus theyre cis plus theyre white plus theyre written in weird regressive ways for straight palatability and understanding plus its misogynistic plus its EXTREMELY CISNORMATIVE I MUST REITERATE (in a bioessentialist way, ALWAYS) plus if its a contemporary then one character WILL be a fan of tswifft and thats their whole personality
