HEY tell me about your boys oc

You've twisted my arm, LMAO.

Time to dump my brain. My The Boys OC is PURE SELF INDULGENCE because she's basically an alt version of Tea but what if The Boys? So you know, a cringe almost self-insert OC that evolved into her own thing in my brain. She 300% only exists to smooch Homelander but as of today and runaway story ideas, MAYBE NOT.

I've got this whole vague outline of a story in my head I've taken notes on and written a few lines and drabbles for, but she'll most likely just stick in my brain cause OC x canon isn't well received and I don't have the free time to RP her with friends like I'd like.

ANYWAY - This is LONG. So LONG.

Her name is Stray, which is super not original to anyone who knows my online aliases or the fact that the first version of my vtube character was named Stray but I like short aliases and Stray is as good a name as any for a cat-based Supe.

Her supe power is that she can shapeshift into any feline. House cat, tiger, leopard, and even prehistoric cats because I want her to lay on Homelander as a polar bear sized saber. THE VISUALS.

Like Doppelganger, Stray fluidly shifts between forms in mere moments but unlike Doppelganger, these forms are all Stray. She can't transform into a visual copy of say, your pet cat.

Like Beast Boy, her animal forms are coded to her colors. She's a calico cat (surprise, surprise) if she's a house cat. A golden tabby coated tiger if she's a tiger. Basically all coat colors try to mimic orange, brown, white to some degree. If she's a lioness, it's a richer orangy hue instead of tawny.

I'd have to pin down the exact colors and make a coat pattern chart, but basically every coat is a little off on what the default is for wild cats. Enough to make you go, 'hmm that seems odd' more than seeing a big cat in a weird spot would. The other thing that's constant is her eye color, same green eyes in all forms. So her hair color / skin color reflect her cat coat patterns and her eye color is consistent, basically.

The main perk is that her supe power scales with form. She's a house cat? Well- That house cat could theoretically blast herself through your skull like Jamie the hamster and come out fine on the other side. This scales, so you get a jaguar biting you it's no longer a 1,500 PSI bite but idfk, biting through steel beams. The bigger Stray is, the more durable and the more damage she can do. Get her big enough and she could bite through Homelander's limbs. :D

The downsides are:

Stray is a perfectly normal, squishy person when not in a feline form. Very fragile, don't let near other Supes when she's a person.

She can't stay in feline form forever. Like Doppelganger, it hurts if she keeps a form for too long but she's been trained (forced) to endure it. After 24 hours, she starts to become debilitated from the pain but can push on depending on desperation level. Regardless, she'll be pretty useless quick.

Stray can be locked out of shifting or locked in a form with a metal band around her neck/wrist/ankle. Say, iron does it because uh- It's the most stable element or something which blocks Stray's atoms from doing whatever the fuck they do to reform her into various kitty cats. Having a power lock is fun for situations.

The backstory is that around the same time of Homelander's debut, Stan Edgar wanted to have a contingency plan. I don't know the exact timeline, but I assume Victoria Neuman was adopted by Edgar around that time as his backup plan for Homelander. Stray was picked up for the same reason, except she was more a creature to get locked away and trained to hate Homelander.

Her SUPER TRAGIC backstory is that she had a normal life, save for being a supe, until she turned 18. Then Vought snatched her up with the excuse of that binding Supe Contract, so her family was none the wiser that through daughter was shipped off to a lab. Meanwhile, Stray was fed some story that her family DIED HORRIBLY because of Homelander with her hatred of him encouraged subtly. Enough to make a bitch pissy, but not rampage through the lab. (That or they kept a bitch collared a lot)

Stan Edgar gets thrown in jail and Stray gets lost in the shuffle, forgotten for the most part until her file is dug up or The Boys are tipped off about something strange over in a SUPER SECRET LAB that Butcher is apparently good at finding, given how he found The Woods in Gen V.

The Boys get a new pet cat as they assume Stray is a suped up animal, since they find her collared and unable to shift. I get to write a few cute drabbles of Stray being tormented as people coo over her as a kitty cat until someone takes her collar off. Then the idiot is hell bent on revenge, which suits Butcher just fine.

She infiltrates Vought Tower by being picked up as a stray cat (haha) by Ryan Butcher. Cue Homelander having beef with a cat who keeps stealing his son's attention. Also, that cat keeps looking at him weird. More excuses to write cute fluff with Ryan getting a pet he can cuddle but can't kill. She chills in Vought Tower with Ryan, getting rather attached to the boy because he is SUCH A SWEETIE PIE.

Stray goes to chomp Homelander's head off eventually, hunting him down like prey and wrecking his shit because I just want to write Homelander being afraid. There's something fun about having Homelander hunted by a bigger predator, something primordial and feral. c:

Ryan intervenes before Stray eats Homelander and she pisses off for a bit. Also, probably dealing with a Compound V high given how much V must be in Homelander's blood.

Something something, Homelander researches the bitch who almost ate him. Figures out her weakness and there's probably MORE DRAMA with them fucking with each other. I haven't banged out the details but these lil shits will be toxic as fuck, but since Stray is a strong supe he'll want her for his supe army. Homelander even shows Stray that her family is alive and she's all, "Well fuck. Uh, my bad bro?"

Ultimately, Stray will waver between hating Vought for what they did, having some loyalty to members of The Boys for their kindness, but loyalty to Homelander and Ryan for similar. She's not a good person so she could go for the DESTROY VOUGHT or SUPE SUPERIORITY side on a coin flip.

She's just a character I want to put in situations within The Boys universe. (Sexual situations)

IDKKKK i think it ties into how i genuinely think that stolitz couldve been good if they had lead with this. since he started off as a villain and had a very rocky transition into being """not a villain""" despite still being horrifically evil, the show is stuck in this weird place of trying to TELL us that stolas is good and worthy of redemption while SHOWING us that hes not. if he was a villain at the start, they shouldve stuck to their guns and kept him that way. if they wanted him and blitz to have a romance, then they shoudlnt have fucking started the show like this. its too late to go back and fix it and the circus is a very clear showing of them trying and failing to do so.....AND YET. i still think its sweet. it makes me yearn for a show where they remeet as adults and start reforming a FRIENDSHIP instead of a weird sex deal. it wouldve actually been cute and compelling to see them observe how the world has hardened and changed the other and finding out that they still love each other despite it. how they both were so deply hurt by the circumstances and yet still managed to grow in a way that left room for the other. Sorry to send this to you and you can definitely ignore this question if you want but I do feel very alone that's why I'm sending this to you :(

I joined this fandom 5 months ago and Er*ri is so popular, AoT and Levi are very popular in general, so I was really excited, all my other ships were really underrated or rare, finally I could be part of a big fandom. But after spending some time on Twitter I was really surprised to see how much this fandom... argues? There are surprisingly a lot of people who mock and ridicule everyone who ship Levi with anyone else which, yeah I agree I can't see him with anyone else, but it doesn't sit right with me to mock people :/ it's not just Er*ri to be fair "Er*mika is canon you can't ship them with anyone else" is also a popular statement in this fandom even though they are just fictional characters. And there is this weird trend where Er*ris just.... hate Levi? lmao if it makes sense. I keep seeing them insulting, belittling or reducing him to Erwin's bf which convinced me that a lot of Er*ris are just Erwin stans who ship him with Levi because he was very devoted to Erwin but doesn't like him at all WHICH IS THE REASON I am writing this message because this fandom is so so so SO interesting. Every other fandom comes up with the most ridiculous reasons to explain why their ship is more complex and their characters with 10 mins screen time is actually important while this fandom often reduces this ship to 2 obsessed weird middle aged men hahahaha well it's often Levi is obsessed with Erwin but Erwin sending 15 years olds to their deaths left and right for his own obsession which is.......... yeah. I don't know I saw so many Er*ri accounts (popular ones from my experience) treat Levi like he's the most basic, bland and boring character and only interesting thing about him is his promise to Erwin and I wonder if you agree because I find his character very fascinating and not everyone has to be a Eren or Reiner. That is my point I think ,this idea of reducing a part of your own ship and thus reducing the ship inself to something.... less. Look I'm mentally ill and I keep questioning myself so whenever I see things like that I wonder "damn maybe I made it all up maybe this ship does suck if he's actually just a dumb pawn for Erwin and occasional fuck and he's just obsessed and not really in love" and I spend the rest of the day thinking about why I love the ship. Like I said it's impossible to control this for me and until I read a good fic I doubt my own ship :/ to be fair I think it's only twitter? Fic writers on ao3 is great but when it coems to twitter fandom I have never seen a fandom who hate a side of their ship so much lol Listen Er*ri is my all time favorite ship I have never had a ship this.. idk special? A ship that hit me like this, it's just so good and I read fics religiously (yours are great especially <3) the reason I'm sending is this because a) I felt very sad and even though it's easy to say ignore that part of the fandom the best part of being in a fandom is to interact with others and every time I see things like that I close my Er*ri tabs for a day :/ b) I don't think there is anything wrong with questioning or discussing the parts of your fandom since it has nothing to do with the ship itself AHHH SORRY like I said ignore this if you want I just saw another discussion on twitter exactly like this about Levi being.... nothing basically from Er*ri fandom and like I mentioned my mental illness kinda makes me doubt it all and makes me sad sadfgdsadf :')

I must admit I'm struggling to know how to answer this. Regarding your first point, ship wars are a fact of life in all fandoms. The SnK fandoms are not unique in that respect. Sadly there will always be some fans who prefer shitting on other ships rather than enjoying their own. I find that the best way to deal with these people is to block and mute, regularly and often. I am a bit surprised that you've been seeing a lot of this behaviour recently. I'm not aware of any recent ship war drama, but maybe that's because my block list is working as intended.

Regarding your second point, about Eruri shippers shitting on Levi, this is where I am genuinely confused. In all my years in the fandom this isn't something I've experienced. Sure everyone has their own fave, but I think I can count on one hand the number of Eruri shippers I know who actively dislike Levi or see him as nothing more than Erwin's pawn. Fans will definitely take the piss out of both Levi and Erwin, but it's not intended to be taken seriously. In my experience the kind of fans who see Levi as "basic, bland and boring" tend to be dudebros who claim to be above shipping. Most Eruri shippers I know see both Erwin and Levi as deeply complex and nuanced characters, with a believable adult relationship based on mutual trust and respect.

Having said all that, the Eruri fandom, like any fandom, is not a homogenous unit and you will find lots of different perspectives and preferences. If you come across fans whose take on these characters doesn't match yours, or who cause unnecessary drama, just block and move on.

PS I have no idea what you mean by saying "not everyone has to be a Eren or Reiner."

(to clarify: I am not that previous anon) The cannibal!will fandom is a really interesting phenomenon to me since it's being introduced to a fandom that's so very against anything 'out there' or 'nsfw' in any capacity, and since it's something that a lot of people are uncomfortable with (but I also see a lot of defense for it) it's getting a lot of push back. Stranger things is relatively gory and is still technically a horror/thriller (even if it's real silly sometimes) so to me it makes sense to lean into that as a fandom, but they also definitely have sexually charged scenes/hints of sex without making it too explicate for their audience and it's just like, basic, expected, normal sexually active human stuffs. Nothing crazy, nothing kinky. Just. Sex basically (pretty common in these types of shows esp teen thrillers, and even though it's there I appreciate they don't go overboard the way a lot of teen dramas try to play it up and that's always been weird to me, I digress) but even though it's there (just like the horror/gore/thriller aspect is canon and very real themes in the show) for some reason nsfw is still very frowned upon (I'm specifically talking about consensual relationships/aged up characters/adults content here that's still getting a ton of hate) to the point nsfw artists/writers are pushed out of the fandom as a whole, and it kinda feels like people are trying to do that in the instance of cannibal/will as well. It's really disheartening and I guess I'm a little jealous of the nice little pocket of 'freaks' /pos you've helped curate. Purity culture has destroyed curiosity and experimenting in a safe space such as fandom and it's weird af. Fandoms have been pivotal to a lot of people finding themselves and trying new things in safe spaces and I just don't understand how the Stranger Things community is this really weird staunchly anti-sex community, esp when the show itself is just. Not that? Never has been that? ISN'T that. (which I guess with how people be out here viewing Mike the way they do, what can I expect) This isn't a 'kids show' and I GET that there's a lot of kids in the fandom (but it's also definitely not just kids pushing people out of the fandom) but there's no age limit to this show and there are tons of people in different age brackets consuming this show and it's just weird how violently against curating your own content and consuming what YOU want to consume is so frowned upon. Sort of like... Just cause I'm in the Stranger Things fandom doesn't mean I want to see all the ships so I can just. Block them! People tag for a reason. There's no reason people should be dictating what can and can't be put on someone else's blogs, and people are so rude, and make uncalled for comments as if they have any right to tell you how to participate in fandom how YOU want to on YOUR OWN BLOG. It drives me crazy. This fandom is so very uppity and act like if you don't like exactly what they do then you're wrong and should feel bad and aren't allowed to be a part of the fandom at all, and I'm just tired of it. it is,,, a very nuanced topic. and while i do understand why there's a lot of debate surrounding the topic and i do respect a lot of the arguments for and against the concept, i think the main takeaway from all you said —from all the conversations i've ever seen about it— is that newer fandom members need to learn to curate their online experience.

the tools are there. they're not that hard to use. if seeing something sexual is upsetting to someone, it is relatively easy to avoid it both in ao3 and in here. if someone wishes such content didn't exist, it is quite easy to mute some words and blogs and voilà, it's like it actually doesn't exist !! there's no need to make big posts condemning the morality of content tropes one doesn't enjoy in fandom spaces, and there is absolutely no reason to go attack people who do engage with such content and are just doing their thing (which is a thousand percent worse than anyone creating anything "weird" >:\ ).
