As much as I look forward to ROP second season, I can't help but roll my eyes at people claiming that it will be somehow more faithful to the books or that we'll finally get Sauron in his physical form.
This shit-show will never be Silmarillion. And whoever Charlie is playing, is not and never will be actual Sauron. Amazon and it's showrunners simply don't have enough talent or imagination to put such an epic story to our screens.
Their minds don't resonate with high fantasy classics, and no, I'm not talking about what makes a show good adaptation or any such other issue. I'm talking about the scale. It's too big of a story for them. Everything will be flatten out to the basic shells of characters, worldbuilding, dialogs, etc.
I'm here for etl with satan, but my opinion that this should have been another, generic fantasy show remains.
I actually would have close to no complains about this show if that was the case. Other than that it's boring at times, but still worth watching for the romance.
Because there is a void in western entertainment when it comes to villian/hero romantic stories. One that has been patched over through the years by franchises that have no buisness playing with such things.
But girlies (me) obviously look for it, so why don't you just make an original show with this dynamic, Hollywood?
Why won't you drop high fantasy and sci-fi titles, that you obviously don't understand, nor wish to understand, and start creating your own product, that you know people want to consume?
Birdgertons, Emily in Paris or Barbie being good examples of that.
Gods know you are loosing millions of dollars on those bizare projects of yours, so why keep clinging to it?
