#i really need to take the time to thank myself today. i was looking around the house at all the chores I put off. i want more pizza and did#not do grocery shopping today. but i did give myself clean laundry and I should thank myself for that. i got ill but i moved myself to L.A#from the place where i had no health insurance and the weather kept making me sick all the time - i should thank myself for that too. I'm#grateful that i gave myself all the tools I'm using today to get well#and I'm grateful to my past self for giving me an interesting life lol - i just found out my roommates are friends with some mk1 voice cast#and even went to the wedding of one of the actors who voices one of the characters I'd been writing smut about. apparently one of my buds#officiated the wedding even. I like knowing that it's a small world. And I like feeling like I'm finding my place in it. Every little weird#coincidence like this just makes me feel comforted#like yes I'm in the right place at the right time here's a little sign. and stop worrying about the unbuilt ikea shoe rack and pile of shoes#that you didn't get to - you're still doing good enough for yourself just surviving and enjoying a silly kombat game. you know you'd be dead#if you'd stayed behind but you fought your way out and landed in a good place. it is important to acknowledge the effort rather than focus#on the stuff I'm failing to do. just get through this round of antibiotics and unlock all the kontent from the seasonal kosmetics store#and that would be enough. quit pushing and rest. and be grateful to yourself that you gifted this opportunity to yourself for that rest!#hope if anyone is reading you'll think about something you're grateful to yourself for giving you-hope you see your own worth and appreciate#yourself more and more each day

Pairing(s): kaz x fem!reader (established relationship) Word Count: ~4.3k (!!!) Warnings: allusions to reader's recent trauma (kidnapping, torture, severe injuries), mentions of injuries (scars, cuts, bruises), mentions of sibling & parent loss/death, mentions of blood, mentions of kaz's haphephobia, mentions of violence (kaz bashing heads and dangling people of rooftops) Genre: fluffier angst? brief angst then fluff? Author's Note: i really gotta stop with these disappearing acts. anyway, i promised you guys the next part, so here is the next part at a whopping 4.3k. pls enjoy <3 masterlist
The next few days passed in a blur as you fought to recover from what you'd been through. Nothing aggravated you more than the stiffness of your muscles and the pain throbbing throughout your body; just a week ago, you'd been able to jump across rooftops and snatch a pouch of kruge from a man's pocket without any issue. Now, damn near everything ached, though the vertigo and throbbing in your head had eased thanks to Nina's work.
On one of the warmer days, where the snow had melted into the ground to form a muddy slush, you woke up feeling much better than when you'd been carried out of the warehouse. While the rest of the house slept, you slowly made your way out of the room you were staying in and down the stairs. You stuck to the edges, using the banister to support yourself as you avoided potential creaky spots. The house was in remarkably good condition, but you didn't want anyone questioning why you were up and about on your own. You needed to move, to feel the fresh air again.
To remind yourself that you were free, despite everything.
You slipped on your battered boots, your body aching as you hunched over to pull them onto your feet, then stepped onto the front porch, looking over the bleak, icy land sprawling before you. Crossing your arms to brace yourself against the cold, you stepped off the porch and stood in the snow. You let the muddy slush soak the material of your boots, chilling your skin even through your thick socks.
The air stung your lungs as you inhaled deeply, burned through your chest, and then you let it out slowly, the air fogging before you. To be standing outside felt like bliss; in the open air, you could forget the griminess of your captivity for a moment, the sensation of blood sliding down your fingers, the ringing of your ears as your friends had arrived in a flurry of action and chaos.
You gulped down more air to chase away the prickling hairs on the back of your neck as you considered all that had happened. Not now.
You realized then why it was easier to close off, to not think of the horrible things those mercenaries had done, that Rollins and his Dime Lions had done in Ketterdam over the years. Denial was easier than wading through the grief of what happened. Preferable, even.
Snow crunched behind you, but you didn't turn, your eyes still fixed on the empty, slush-covered fields before you. A gloved hand carefully wrapped a worn blanket around your shoulders and lingered for a moment before falling away. Kaz stepped beside you, his coat wrapped tightly around himself; there were dark shadows under his eyes, and his face was a touch paler from exhaustion.
You frowned at him. "You haven't slept."
"Neither have you," he said quietly, sliding his free hand into his coat pocket and looking down at you. He was silent, his icy blue eyes roaming up and down your form as he surveyed you. The look made you shiver, and you turned your gaze away, a blush unrelated to the cold rising to your cheeks.
Out of your periphery, you saw Kaz slide his hand from his pocket, and you felt the brush of his fingers against your arm, loosely wrapping around your wrist. You glanced up at him, and you let him gently turn your arm so that your forearm was to the sky; he pushed your sleeve up carefully, tenderly, and his gaze lifted from the bandages around your arm to your face, waiting.
"Go ahead," you said softly. You didn't want to hide your pain and your scars from Kaz, even though instincts told you to shield it from him. You ached to hide your weakness like when you first arrived on Ketterdam's streets, to settle into denial and rage. But this was Kaz. You trusted him to catch you if you fell.
Kaz undid the bandages with practiced ease, and you wrinkled your nose as cold air hit your wounded tattoo. The flesh was nearly healed thanks to Nina's hard work, but most of the ink itself was destroyed, only a few dark remnants remaining at the edges of what had once been the crow perched on the cup. Shiny scar tissue lined your forearm, and Kaz ran a gloved finger over the skin. The gentlest of touches, but enough to make you hold your breath and look away.
"I'm sorry," Kaz said, breaking the silence with his raspy voice before you could speak. Though he deemed his investigation complete, he didn't release your arm. Instead, he carefully wrapped the bandages again and secured them in place, his leather touches nothing more than a whisper against broken skin.
You shook your head. "It's not your fault," you said, looking up at him. You were startled to find his gaze already on you, and your breath caught as you saw the raw emotions flickering there. Concern, anguish, guilt. A raw mix of vulnerability he would never let anyone else see.
Kaz looked back down at your bandaged arm, still in his hold. Black leather gloves against pale white bandages, a stark contrast that he hated. He'd caused this. He was at fault, whether you would say it to him or not. The moment he'd crawled out of that harbor, determined to make the city pay for taking his brother, taking his name, taking his dreams, he'd set everyone around him on a path to harm.
"Kaz," you said, turning your arm in his grip so that you could grasp his. Your breath fogged in the cold air between the two of you, a warning of the winter storm brewing above that you elected not to heed. "Tell me what you're thinking. Please."
He let out a breath, and he wanted to turn away. Your gaze was intense, reaching deep into his soul and threatening to pull out every word he'd stashed away where nobody could ever find them. Most believed he didn't have a soul, and he liked it that way; it was his treasured hiding place of all the things he wanted to say but never would, because Dirtyhands wasn't tender. He wasn't kind or caring. He was ruthless, selfish, and brutal. He bashed skulls into stone floors and tortured men on rooftops.
Yet you seemed to break down his walls with only a look, stripping away the layers he'd created to become Kaz Brekker. You saw him, the boy who grew up on this farm, who fell asleep every night with the threadbare blanket currently wrapped around your shoulders, who believed in goodness in the world.
He struggled to reach into that hidden, tucked away part of himself, to find the words he longed to say to you. I love you. I'm sorry. I am not the man you should want. I love you. I thought I'd lost you. I am a liar. I love you.
I love you, and I thought I had lost the chance to say it.
"Do you still want this?" he managed to say, the words nothing more than a rasp, the sound of sandpaper against wood. Even as Kaz Brekker longed to take steps back, to fling up those walls and fall back into the comfort and safety of being ruthless and harsh, the ground beneath his feet had him rooted in place. The Rietveld farm, where the ghosts of his father and brother lurked in the house just feet away. They were watching, begging him to do better. To be better.
He could be.
"Yes," you said without hesitation, your grip on his arm steady and your gaze unwavering. "I made my decision a year ago. I stand by it." Your words were firm but not unkind, leaving no room for argument or misinterpretation.
A lot of horrible things had happened in the past week. Kidnapping, torture, interrogation, and scarring you hoped would one day heal. And despite the urge to collapse, to fall and give in, you wouldn't. Your friends wouldn't let you. Kaz wouldn't let you. And you wouldn't let Kaz wade into the guilt he was feeling. You'd haul him out by his coat collar if you had to. You wouldn't blame anyone for what had happened to you aside from those who deserved it; the guilt lay with the mercenaries and with Pekka, left behind in that warehouse.
Kaz was quiet for a few long moments. He let your words play over and over again in his mind, searching for any whisper of deceit, any hint of blame from you that would reinforce the guilt that pressed down hard enough on his lungs that he felt like they might be crushed beneath the weight. When he found none, he pushed a slow breath past his lips, trying to ease that pressure. "Alright," he said.
Because as much as he did blame himself, it was your choice. Your decision to stay with him, despite his belief that you would only get hurt again. And he wouldn't take that choice from you, even as everything he'd taught himself screamed at him to distance himself from you until you changed your mind.
He would be better.
Kaz swallowed, realizing he still held your arm in his grasp. He looked down at it again, his hand gently cradling your injured arm, and he slowly shifted his hold until your hand was held in both of his, his cane resting against his hip so it didn't fall into the slush. He could feel the coldness of your fingers through his gloves, and he trapped your fingers between his palms to try and warm them up.
You stepped closer to him, realizing how cold you actually were, even with the tattered blanket around your shoulders. The heat radiated off him in waves, and soon you were nearly chest-to-chest with him. You tilted your head up to look at Kaz, your heart slamming in your chest as you dared to step into his personal space. He smelled like city smoke, like faint remnants of cologne. Home. Comfort.
"I thought I lost you," Kaz rasped, the words almost inaudible, even as you stood mere inches from him. He almost choked on the words, but he owed it to you to say that. To say so much more. "I thought Pekka had won."
"He didn't," you said quietly.
"I killed him."
"I know."
His breathing turned ragged. "I should have done worse. I should have made him suffer more."
You shook your head, turning your hand in his palms so you could lace your fingers with his. "You did what needed to be done. Nothing more, nothing less. That's all that matters." You tilted your face up, taking in the emotions in his eyes.
"Before you left, you said..." Kaz's eyes slipped shut. Just say it, you fool. Say it. "You said you loved me."
The words didn't burn on his tongue like he thought they would and didn't taste like salty, bitter seawater. It didn't make his teeth chatter or his clothes feel stuck to his skin. It felt blissfully warm, burning in his chest like it might ignite him from the inside out.
You didn't answer, not wanting to interrupt him as he fought to speak. You had a feeling you knew what he wanted to say, why he looked like he was somewhere between keeling over and taking off across the property to disappear into the treeline. So, you gave his hand a gentle squeeze to encourage him, feeling your heart pound as he spoke again.
"I should have said it back," Kaz said. "I should have told you I..." The words stuck in his mouth like the sticky candy he'd shared with his brother on this very property, the sun beating down on their heads. "I should have..." He faltered again, his brows creasing as he grew increasingly frustrated with his inability to spit the damn words out.
Kaz sighed, the breath rushing out of his lungs and clouding in the air before he managed to force out, "I should have told you that I love you." As the words passed his lips, a feeling of peace came over him. The knot in his chest eased, and the heavy weight within his chest became easier to bear. Taking the chance, he continued, his voice quieter. "You could have died, and all I thought about on the ride here was how I didn't say it back. I just turned away like a fool and sent you into the lion's den."
He was grateful for that temporary moment of relief. At least if you stepped away and changed your mind about wanting this, wanting him, the last thing he would remember of the two of you would be this moment of respite with your hand in his and the knowledge that he'd finally told you what he felt. That would be some consolation before the bitter taste of pain rose.
You stepped closer, cutting off his train of thought by pressing his gloved hand against your racing heart, his palm resting just beneath your collarbone. The words he'd just spoken suddenly seemed far away, and his mind went completely blank as he felt the hammering of your heart against his palm. A stark reminder that you were still alive, and he didn't have to think of the 'what ifs' anymore. You had chosen him. You hadn't changed your mind, after everything.
"Don't torment yourself," you said quietly. Your gaze met his, a simultaneous fierceness and gentleness visible there that almost knocked the breath from Kaz's lungs. "Do you remember what I told you? Your pace?"
The words reminded you of an evening that felt long in the past. The two of you, sitting on Kaz's tiny bed in the Slat and working through his fear when you told him you love him and that he didn't have to say it back until he was ready. Your pace, Kaz.
"I remember," he said, his voice uncharacteristically shaky. He closed his eyes for a moment, trying to regain control of his breathing as he dropped his hand from your heart and twined his gloved fingers with yours once more. Once he was sure he wouldn't hyperventilate or collapse into the icy mud like a fool, he opened his eyes again.
"I love you," you said softly, giving his hand the gentlest of squeezes. The words felt right, just like every time you'd said them, tasting like shots in the Crow Club and snow falling over the city, like a heady bliss you wanted to feel again and again, as though you might never get enough. Though the words felt right, you realized you started trembling after you said them. From the cold? From the vulnerability strung between the two of you? From the anticipation of his response?
Your fingers were cold between Kaz's, and before he realized what he was doing, he caught both of your hands in his this time, clasping them between his gloved palms to warm them up. Only a few inches separated your faces now, and your tangled hands were wedged between your chests. Selfishly, he wanted to close that distance completely, to remind himself of how your lips felt together. It had been six months, and though he thought about that moment in the alley outside the Crow Club every single day, he found that the feeling had begun to drift from his mind.
"We should go inside," he rasped, despite the thoughts warring in his head. You were freezing; that much was obvious. The old blanket he'd brought to you hadn't done much to keep you warm in this bitter weather, especially as a fresh flurry of snow prepared to blanket the ground.
"I'm fine," you responded, though the growing numbness of your nose and ears said otherwise. You were caught in his gaze, trapped by the heated look in his eyes. You'd seen him angry, distant, and vulnerable at times, but the look he wore now was one you hardly recognized. It was one you'd only seen once before, moments before he'd kissed you outside the Crow Club like he'd die if he didn't get the chance.
"That's what most say before dying of exposure," Kaz deadpanned, but even his response couldn't tamp down the burning in his chest. He didn't recognize it, the looseness in his muscles and the burning in his chest. For once, no terror rose in response to your closeness, ready to shove him away with cold, invisible hands.
You rolled your eyes at him. "I can assure you, the cold won't take me out that easily." Still, you shivered just a bit as a slight breeze kicked up to remind you both of the incoming storm, making your words much less reassuring than you wanted them to be. Traitorous nature. But Kaz (and the wind) was right, the two of you should head inside, even if you wanted to bask in the vulnerability and simmering feel of his gaze for a little bit longer.
Taking a step back, you moved as if you might disentangle your hands from his and head back toward the house. Once again acting before he could stop himself, Kaz caught you, his fingers gentle as they wrapped around your wrist. "Wait," he said, his voice almost inaudible. He took a shaky breath as terror sunk its fingers into his flesh again, making his words come out more unsteadily than he intended. "Can I?"
He could win against his fear again, could push himself past the newfound comfort of holding hands with you. He'd done it once, even though it had kicked an unfortunate series of events into motion. But maybe... maybe that wouldn't happen again. It was just the two of you and the cold. No witnesses, no traitors amongst you except the bone-deep terror that threatened to rear its head every time he dared to challenge it.
Confusion briefly flashed across your face, and then your mind went blank with recognition. The memory of the alleyway, a kiss tasting like bitter liquor and snow, flashed through your mind.
Oh. Oh.
You nodded, just as you had before, feeling your cheeks heat up despite the cold.
As he stepped closer, closing the last few inches of distance, you wanted to ask him whether he was sure. He'd opened up to you so much already; you didn't want him to feel obligated to do so further. But he'd initiated it, and you trusted him and his newfound confidence in his ability to heal.
You were proud of him.
His lips met yours, tentatively at first. They were cold, chapped slightly from the weather, and he waited for the icy terror to yank him to the ground and drown him right there on land. While his legs felt unsteady, pushed and pulled at by his own fear in its twisted form of pale, dead hands in the harbor, he felt like he could keep standing as long as he focused on you.
It no longer felt like the midst of a Kerch winter. As snow fell down and started to kiss your cheeks, you could imagine it was a morning drizzle on a summer day, before the sweltering heat kicked in and was compounded by the smoky air of the city. You felt warm, maybe too warm, and you freed one of your hands to move up and grasp the back of his neck, standing up on your tiptoes to keep the distance between you closed.
Kaz startled at the touch, his hand moving to grab your arm out of instinct as his heartbeat picked up at the feel of your hand on his skin. The touch was foreign, soft, and hesitant, but not unwelcome as he steeled himself against letting his fear take over. He wanted to be able to kiss you, to accept your touch and affection without feeling like he might collapse.
His determination fueled him to press even closer, his hand releasing your arm in favor of cupping your cheek. He brushed his thumb over your cheekbone, pretending he could feel the softness of your skin beneath his touch. You shivered, and a surge of warmth ran down his spine, making goosebumps rise beneath your hand on his neck.
Distantly, he felt his cane fall from where it had been propped against his hip, thumping against the frozen ground. But his focus was on you. You, your lips, your nose bumping against his as you settled into this still-new feeling, your hand on his neck, your other moving up as if to join the other before chancing it, sliding into the mussed strands of his hair that he hadn't bothered to slick back before joining you out here.
You fought the heat running throughout your body and forced yourself to pull back, gasping a bit and looking up at him. "I'm-" you began, already starting to retract your hands. What if you'd pushed him too far? You'd felt how he tensed beneath your touch for a moment, felt him go somewhere else for just a moment. What were you thinking, Y/N? His pace, remember?
"Don't," Kaz said roughly, knowing precisely what you were thinking. He kissed you again, chasing the euphoria of your lips against his. He surprised himself with how hungrily he kissed you. The feel of your lips was better than any liquor. Better than any drug, or high in the aftermath of a successful heist. He liked the feeling of kruge passing into his hands, but this feeling had quickly surpassed that.
You made a noise of surprise but didn't protest or pull away, sliding your hands back into his hair and through the dark, silky strands. There was a bubble of something in your chest, the urge to chase this and press further, but the burning in your lungs and throbbing of your wounds in response to the worsening cold forced you to pull back far sooner than you wanted to.
You opened your mouth to speak, ready to ask if he was okay, or what he was thinking. A million emotions were flickering through his eyes, and you were having trouble pinpointing any of them. Just as you recognized one of them as longing, Kaz's face went neutral, the emotions disappearing before you could blink as the front door to the house creaked open. Your head turned, and you saw Nina, who had just woken up judging by the wayward hair framing her face.
"If you two are done frolicking, I figure I should tell you the storm is about to hit," Nina called from the porch, leaning against the doorway with a smugness on her face that made you blush and take several steps back from Kaz.
Tightening the old blanket around your shoulders, you glanced at Kaz as he grabbed his cane off the ground. His cheekbones were flushed pink, and there was a purse to his lips that gave away his embarrassment at being caught. But as he straightened up, his cane firmly in his hand again, there was a sparkle in his eye as he met your gaze and offered you an elbow to help you back inside.
"Not a word, witch," Kaz said to Nina, eyeing the wicked grin on her face as he tapped his boots against the steps to free the snow and mud from them. He kept his arm extended for you to hold onto as you did the same, noting the winces of pain as the impact sent shocks of pain through the bruises and scrapes on your legs.
Nina gave Kaz an innocent smile. "Of course not." She reached up to pinch his cheek, and he batted her hand away with a sharp glare. "Can't ruin your terrifying reputation, can I?"
"No bickering before breakfast," Jesper groaned from the couch, pushing the blanket away from his face and yawning. "I can't add any witty commentary on an empty stomach." He sat up and rubbed his eyes before grimacing and hunching his shoulders. "Now, will you please close the damn door? It's freezing out there."
You suppressed another smile, stepping into the house and setting your shoes to the side. As Nina and Jesper bickered, you pulled the blanket tighter around your shoulders, sharing a brief glance with Kaz as you settled next to the fireplace to warm up. A flicker of something soft passed through his eyes before disappearing as he carefully leaned down to add another log to stoke the flames.
Inej padded down the stairs, putting the finishing touches on her braid as she investigated the commotion. If she noticed the faint blush on your cheeks or Kaz looking anywhere but you, she didn't say anything. Instead, she pushed Jesper's legs off the couch to make room to sit, ignoring his groggy protests.
Though you weren't sure anything other than time could heal what happened, being surrounded by your chosen family was a good start. A warmth unrelated to the fire settled over you, a comfort and security that eased the tension that hadn't lifted since your capture. You would heal. Wounds would scar and fade, memories would become less vivid, and the ink along your arm could be replaced one day.
In the meantime, you'd bask in that warmth, even when your return to Ketterdam inevitably tried to chase it away.

idiot girlfriends - bradley "rooster" bradshaw x reader
summary - bradley's stupid girlfriend doesn't understand that bradley has a life-long best friend, and that would be you
warnings - no
word count - 2.6k
______________________________________________________________
when you joined the navy, everyone knew it was only because of bradley bradshaw. well, and nick bradshaw. you wanted to do right by him and his memory by serving the same way he did and followed bradley into the navy, even pulling your own papers to graduate the same time and be in the same classes as him.
you two had been inseparable since you were toddlers. your mothers were childhood best friends and so when goose died carole moved her and brad right back to the same small town she grew up in in virginia, only a few doors down from you all.
so, when you two got assigned across the world from each other, it was a shock to everyone.
you met again in top gun, both competing for the top spot and landing ten marks above the rest of your classmates. you tied, which everyone thought was a good resolution, but you both teased about who really won for years.
you loved your line of work, emailing bradley on deployments and facetiming whenever the time difference allowed. you'd gone on random deployments off in fightertown and did a few in naples, but for the most part your commanding officers fought for you to stay in guam.
until the uranium mission.
you were ecstatic to be back in the states, stationed with him. and mav. but, mostly him. you'd jumped into his arms when you walked in and spotted him talking to your friends by the pool tables. everyone thought you guys were a thing, and you both were casual in blowing them off.
you trained hard, working well together in your fights against maverick. you managed to find tone on him once and only once, but hell, you were proud of it.
you flew with bradley and maverick, coyote as your backseater and accomplishing the mission. when he went down, you nearly had a heart attack. and when he got back it took everything in you not to kiss him, instead opting to wrap your arms around him in a death-grip of a hug.
because he had a girlfriend.
her name was gabbie, and she definitely gabbed. she was a brat, you and phoenix decided as soon as you were introduced to her.
"hey," bradley said with a wide smile, reaching out for you as he approached the group. you matched his smile and wrapped your arms tightly around him in a quick hug. when you pulled away, he offered phoenix a quick wave before he gestured to the girl with narrowed eyes behind him. "guys, this is gabbie. we've been together a couple months, she started emailing me this last deployment."
"right," you nodded, offering her a polite smile. "hi."
"this is phoenix, and this is minnie - or y/n," bradley said, gesturing to you with a soft smile. he looked back at his girlfriend. "she's my childhood best friend, i've known her forever."
"oh really?" she hummed with a dramatically sweet smile. "well, it's nice to meet you then."
"yeah, you too," you said with a nod. "wanna play pool with us? you could have the table next."
"does everyone in the navy play pool? even the women?" she laughed to rooster, his brows furrowing slightly. she looked back at you. "just because you're in the military doesn't mean you have to do everything the guys do. and you don't have to wear your hair that way on night's out either. you're off duty! dress cute!"
you were beyond shocked and so were the rest of your friends. your hair was up in a messy bun because yeah, you were tired after the week's dealings and didn't want to curl it. but also, top knots weren't regulation anyways.
and you thought it looked cute.
"i'm sorry?" you asked, tilting your head as you stared at her.
"well, do you like how i did my hair? i could show you if you want," she offered, playing with her front pieces, but it only made your grimace deepen.
"i'm good, thanks," you told her. you turned your attention to hangman, your go-to games partner. "jake - darts?"
as you walked away, whispering to him likely about gabbie, bradley watched with a frown.
whenever she hung out with the daggers she insisted that she would rather stay by his side than hang out with you and phoenix, making snide comments about women in the military and more about your appearance. and whenever you would try to have a private conversation with him, she was immediately by his side. you felt like you never talked to him anymore, that you couldn't talk to him anymore.
"wanna step outside for a minute?" you asked quietly, nodding your head to the back porch. "i need to talk to you about something."
"yeah, for sure," he answered quickly, his brows furrowed in concern. "what's wrong?"
you sighed, glancing around at where your friends were stood swinging back beers and shooting around the pool table in a game of 9-ball. your eyes caught on an approaching gabbie, a fresh mai tai in hand.
"can we go outside?"
"yeah, of course," he said with a nod. his hand hovered over your lower back as he ushered you to the back door, slipping out of it behind you and following you to the railing. he leaned his back against it, eyes on you.
"what's wrong?"
"my dad texted this morning," you said, breath shaky as you glanced at your phone. he looked down too, reaching for it when it was offered to him. "it's my mom."
the door opened and out came gabbie. "hey guys! what's up?"
"hey baby, i'm so sorry, but could you go back inside?" rooster asked gently, offering her an apologetic smile. "we're having a private conversation."
"too private for your girlfriend?" she asked, quirking a brow as she glanced at you. she looked you up and down and you hated how pissed off it made you.
"yeah, i'm sorry honey," he said. "it's personal."
"shouldn't i know about your personal things?" she asked, her tone still high and light enough to feign innocence, but you were getting increasingly upset as she refused to leave.
"it's not his personal life, it's mine. it's my stuff that i'd like to discuss with my best friend, in private," you said in as even a tone as you could produce.
"do you need help with anything?" she asked. "i could help too."
"no thank you," you said. "just bradley right now."
"no, i'm actually working front desk at a therapists' office right now and i've picked up on a few things. i'd be happy to work a few techniques with you if you're feeling depressed or-"
"forget it," you mumbled, shoving your phone in your pocket and pushing passed her to get inside.
bradley sighed, following you quickly. she tried to catch his arm, saying something about the sunset, but he followed you inside, mumbling apologies and trying to get you to talk to him again.
you offered him a thin smile. "later."
later never came. there wasn't enough time in the work day to talk about private matters and it seemed like gabbie now had a permanent tie to his side.
the girl infuriated you to your core.
but, for bradley's sake and trying to be a good best friend, you offered one night to get to know her outside of the hard deck. she didn't even entertain the idea when bradley approached her about it.
"i'm not a girl's girl," she mumbled to him while you exchanged an eyeroll with coyote, able to hear their whole conversation thanks to her inability to whisper. "i've never been good at that. i'm better with guys."
"not likely," phoenix muttered to you with a roll of her eyes. "hypocrite."
"well, she's not necessarily girly either, hun," rooster told her, brows furrowed. "she is military."
"which isn't my cup of tea either. but, it's alright! i'll just stay with you and the boys," she answered, hands coming up to hang off his shoulder. her eyes were trained on you as you turned back to your game with hangman, scoffing under your breath.
"alright baby," rooster relented, eyes on your back with a knit in his brow.
"i'm trying here," you muttered to the man next to you as you leaned down to take your next shot. jake shrugged.
"can't help who she likes as friends."
"wish i could help who she likes romantically."
"what do you mean by that, min?" a smirk was already growing on his lips and you groaned.
"oh, don't start. everyone knows it," you said, moving around the table for the best angle.
"yeah, but you've never admitted it," he teased, following you. "do you like rooster?"
"he's right there, dickhead, go and say it louder," you said with a quick glare, shooting your last ball into the pocket.
"what'd you say, minnie?" rooster asked, eyes on you and jake both intently.
"nothing, just trash-talking hangman here," you answered, standing and clapping a hand on said man's shoulder. you smiled at jake. "he's about to get his ass beat."
you lined the cue ball up with the 8 ball, counting to three in your mind before you shot, the two balls clicking together and the 8 ball landing in the corner like you predicted.
"ha!" you exclaimed, turning to him. "loser!"
"you didn't call it," he hummed, a wicked grin on his lips. "scratch! i won!"
"what? no!" you cried.
"oh yes, princess," he laughed.
"you could tell what i was going for," you argued.
"oh could i?" he teased with a wiggle of his brows.
you scoffed, but couldn't help the laugh that escaped your mouth as he did a stupid 80s-like victory dance, phoenix leaning into you to mumble teases about the man.
from behind you, bradley's face had settled into a scowl.
"minnie," he called. "you and me."
your eyebrows shot up and a smirk lifted one side of your mouth. "oh really, roo? you wanna take me on?"
gabbie looked taken aback that he'd offered to play you.
"she just played. how 'bout you play coyote here?" she asked, looking at javi with a smile.
"nah, i'll give y/n another chance to win," he answered, his eyes not leaving you as you faced him with a smile.
"game on, chicken," you told him with a grin, moving to rack the balls.
he helped you, your hands brushing as you placed them into the triangular rack. your eyes found each other, a subtle smile on your lips as you placed the 8 ball in the center.
"all you mousey," he told you.
"you know, maybe i will take you up on your offer," gabbie chimed in, catching your attention. "let's do something."
"alright," you said slowly, nodding at her. "we'll figure it out later."
"no, let's go get a drink and talk," she replied.
"i'm playing bradley right now. later," you insisted. she seemed to harden at your use of his proper name and she approached where you stood next to rooster. she grabbed your forearm gently, tugging you towards the bar.
"phoenix will take your place. come on!" she said with fake enthusiasm. everyone could tell it was just that and you were left stumbling after her with knitted brows.
"no gabbie, we're playing," rooster told her, taking a hold of your other arm and tugging you back to him. she turned to him with a sharp look in her eye and you hated where you were standing at that moment.
"she wanted girl time, bradley, so i'm giving her girl time," she told him. she turned her attention to you, a sweet sweet smile shot in your direction. "maybe i can give you makeup advice?"
"okay, no," you laughed dryly, ripping you arm from her grasp easily. "i'm good, thank you. i don't need your makeup advice."
"oh, honey, you do," she cooed condescendingly. "i think the boys would agree."
"you're being rude and i'd like you to leave," you said calmly. you looked at rooster. "can you take her home, please?"
he looked conflicted, glancing at you and then gabbie.
"i don't need to go home," she told you.
"oh, so you're gonna play nice?" you asked, raising your brows.
"i will when you do," she answered, glaring openly at you now. you breathed an incredulous laugh, glancing back at phoenix with wide eyes before returning your attention to her.
"what the hell does that mean? i've been trying to be friends with you, lady!"
"oh yeah, just so you can cozy up next to bradley a second later," she said, her glare deepening as she gestured to his hand on your wrist.
"the hell are you saying?" you asked. "i've known him my whole life, forgive me for trying to maintain a friendship."
"no," she shot back. "because you're not just maintaining it."
"yeah, it's flourishing under your watch," you spat sarcastically. you shook your head, glancing back at bradley for a moment before pulling your arm from him and stepping back. you held your hands up in faux defense, scoffing as you stepped towards the door. "sorry brad, i'm not allowed to talk to you anymore."
"no, y/n, stop," he said quickly, shaking his head and sighing. "gabbie, stop saying stuff like that."
"it's true! she's making moves on you bradley," gabbie insisted.
the daggers were not amused, watching as you rolled your eyes and waiting for what bradley would do in respone.
"she's not," he said.
"but if i was?"
that was a question that caught him off guard. he looked at you, his mouth falling open and brows furrowing as he struggled for a response.
"i - what?"
you sighed, crossing your arms over your chest before looking at him with complete seriousness and honesty. "look, she's not the girl for you bradley. i think you've figured that out by now. the rest of us sure as hell have."
"what are you saying?"
"i'm here," you said with a shrug, taking another step back towards the door. "i've always been here. do with that what you will."
gabbie was awestruck, watching you with wide eyes as you strutted out of the bar.
"bradley-"
"gabbie, i can't do this anymore," he said, eyes flashing to her as soon as you left his view. "she's right. you're not the girl for me and i'm not the guy for you. you'll find him, i know you will."
"what? what the hell are you-"
"and now i've gotta go get mine," he said, offering her a small, apologetic smile before running through the bar, dodging customers and slipping out the door after you.
"about time," coyote laughed, leaning back to sip on his beer.
"oh, screw all of you," gabbie spat. "i thought we were getting along, but i guess not."
"cheers to that!" jake said, clinking his bottle with phoenix's as she glared, leaving the room quickly.
bradley chased after you, desperation in his voice as he called, "y/n! y/n!"
you turned, a subtle smile on your lips as you peered at him. "yeah?"
"i want you," he said, grabbing your hands with a wide smile. "i want you forever. i want you to always be here and i want to always be here for you and i'm sorry that i wasn't, but i promise i will be."
"just kiss me, bradshaw," you told him, a grin overtaking his lips as he pulled you into him, his hands cupping your jaw as he pressed his lips to yours.
the kiss wasn't without passion, the both of you having been waiting for this moment for who knows how many years. your arms were wound tightly around his neck as you pulled away for air. you both had stupid grins on your faces, just watching each other.
"thanks," you breathed out dopily.
"anytime," he answered. he leaned closer to you, smirking slightly. "all the time."
he kissed you again, you smiling as you kissed him back.
"fuck yeah!"
you pulled back quickly to see phoenix and the daggers on the front porch, watching with knowing grins.
"we've been waiting for this!" coyote whooped.
you rolled your eyes and laughed at your friends before looking bradley back in his beautiful browns. "i have been too."

Secrets: simon ghost riley x f!reader
Warnings: mentions of past torture, angst, implied past toxic relationship, OC mentions
@thedevillovesflowers 's OC Vitally shows up as he's woven into this story, please go check out her art of him! It's very good.
This is part of the Quiet series
You understand now why Laswell had been a little nervous to let Price take you on this mission. Kostovia wasn’t Russia but it was close enough that you couldn’t help but a little more on edge as the helo got closer to the target location.
It had only been two years since you'd been in Russia and you hadn't been close since.
"From the last intel we got, Konni Group has been finding ways to fly under the radar," Laswell had explained. "We believe that they'e using an outpost in Kostovia to do so..."
"Nothing like hitting them at their source." Ghost grunted and softly nudged you.
You pushed away your worries and looked to him across the helo. When you made eye contact, you gave him a quick smile and he nodded.
There was very little chance you'd fall back into the enemy's hands, especially when Ghost was taking overwatch. He'd fight tooth and nail to keep you with the team.
He gave you a pat on the shoulder, lingering just a couple seconds, before he was dropped off as his location.
You hid the way that warmth spread across your chest from the action and licked your lips to stop another smile from creeping across your face before the helo touched down.
"Quiet and Soap take the top floors." Price ordered and you nodded. "Gaz and I will take the bottom. Any visuals, Ghost?"
"Negative." Ghost's voice crackled in the comms.
"Stay on guard. Watch your six."
The outpost, surrounded by dense forest, looked completely empty from the outside. There were signs of life, a couple trucks and supplies scattered around the dirt, but otherwise there was no movement. There didn't even seem to be movement inside, there were no lights on despite it being the middle of the night.
You frowned but followed behind the others, keeping your sights up.
It was possible they had been tipped off, you wouldn't be surprised. Konni Group had eyes and ears everywhere, they were like rotted roots and yet thrived. The intel to get here had been gotten relatively recently, almost a little too recent for them to have packed up and left however.
You followed behind Soap as he stepped inside. Your steps were quiet as you moved towards the stairs of the building before you heard clattering behind you.
You barely had a moment to shut your eyes before the flash grenade went off with a loud bang. Your ears rang and you heard shouting before Soap pulled you to behind cover as bullets ricocheted around you.
"It's a fucking ambush." He yelled before he returned fire.
You joined him, gunning down as many of the enemies as you could see while avoiding any of the bullets. it was hard to tell how many of them their were and you hoped that you were dwindling their numbers.
"Reinforcements are coming from the north!" Ghost called in and you clenched your jaw.
They were trying to box all of you in.
"Quiet, find a way up and help Ghost." Price ordered and you signaled to him that you heard.
You fought your way through the catwalk, moving up a few more stairs and eliminating any hostiles you came across. You quickly found a room with windows facing north before you shot open one of them and grabbed your rifle to signal to Ghost.
"Got you in my sights." He said and you smiled.
You began to open fire and picked off the reinforcements with his help. Both of you moved with efficiency and as the gunfire within the building lessened and the reinforcements were dead, you signaled to Ghost in an attempt to tell him good job.
"Quiet!"
You were grabbed from behind too quick for you to react. You grunted when a fist landed against your vest right on your ribs and you struggled against your assailant. You slammed your elbow back as hard as you could and remembered all of the techniques Ghost went through when sparring with you.
However the man tighten his hold on you and slammed you on the ground, knocking the window out of you before he pinned you down.
"I know you." He laughed as a sneer pulled at his lips. "You're Vitally's girl."
You're eyes widened. Your heart dropped and began to pound against your chest as you struggled harder against him to no avail. Your mouth went dry and for a moment the man on top of you was not a stranger but Vitally.
His eyes were dark and you could see the scars across his face. He stared down at you with a fierce look of malice, a look you were forced to see for an entire year before he you finally escaped. You could taste his blood in your mouth from when you finally managed to fight back against his torture, you were finally able to harm him in same way.
The man above you chuckled darkly and you were brought back to the present.
"I've got a message for you." He taunted as he leaned close to your ear despite your best efforts. "Vitally is happy to know you're alive, he wishes you the best. He want me to tell you he'll see you again, little mysh."
You screamed and put all of your strength into pushing him off. You grabbed your knife and shoved it into his abdomen repeatedly. You knocked him to the floor and straddled him as you continued on pure survival instinct.
You only stopped when he didn't gurgle on his blood and you pushed off of him quickly. Your chest hurt and you couldn't breathe as you got tunnel vision, only focusing on the mass amounts of blood covering you.
"Quiet?" Ghost asked urgently. "How copy?"
You shut your eyes and choked back a whimper.
Vitally was back.
He had disappeared the day you escaped but struck you with fear with just the thought of him. He was a tangible threat now, using his looming presence to taunt you and he knew you were alive. You had hoped he had thought you were dead, having frozen to death in the snow but you should've known better.
He was the eyes and ears that were everywhere.
He was the key to everything. If he was caught, if he was interrogated, he would have all of the answers the 141 needed to take down Makarov but it would look suspicious.
No one knew about him, not even Laswell, and the other's who did were dead. It would put you as suspect if you told anyone about him now, especially when you had so many chances to do it, when you knew this crucial information for two years now. It would be unlikely if anyone would believe you if you told them the entire truth.
If you did you could only imagine what would happen. They might dishonorably discharge you or throw you in prison. You'd be left alone, isolated and you would suffer.
And he knew that.
This was just another way to torture you. He wanted you to live in constant fear for the day everyone would turn against you because then he would be there to pick you back up. To make himself the only one you could "rely" on if he didn't kill you first.
"Quiet." Ghost demanded and snapped you out of it.
Ghost...you could trust him with anything but this? A secret this big that would end this long war against a mass terrorist? You couldn't help but wonder if he'd see you as a traitor.
You just had to stay quiet. Do as you were told and to not "say anything." You were good at that.
You signaled to him that you were okay and stood up on shaky legs. You kept your face as neutral as possible when you walked to the window and waved at him.
The gunfire had stopped and you were left completely numb.

Afterglow
Natasha Romanoff x Fem!Reader
A Torn up Masterpiece
Semi-CW/IW Canon — Not EG Canon
Warnings: Break-Ups, Heartbreak, Blood, Violence, Death (Steve/Vision). Happy Ending though.
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
Put you in jail for something you didn't do. I pinned your hands behind your back, oh.
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
Natasha warned you this would happen, but you were incredibly naive, and just as selfish.
"Nat, I—.," she turned to you from the window with a glare so harsh you stumbled backwards., "You what Y/N? Thought following me after I expressly told you not to was a good idea?"
——
——
You watched the woman you loved with all of your heart become an enemy in a matter of mere minutes. Only an hour ago was she sleeping soundly atop of your chest after an exhausting reunion, and now she's ripping your heart out of it instead with no remorse.
She was terrified, that much was clear, but she also looked to you like she'd been betrayed. Natasha didn't trust easily, that was her nature, but in the last five years you'd broken down every last wall until you reached her tattered heart; just to be another person to slash it...
"Natalia Romanov, we have you surrounded.," the familiar voice of one General Ross boomed against the shifty trailer, and the redheads jaw clenched., "Put my hands behind my back, and escort me out to them Y/N.," her eyes held no room for an argument, but you didn't care.
"No, I-I won't turn you in Natasha! I can't.," she softened for the briefest second., "There's no other way Y/N, you've sealed our fate.," she handed you the handcuffs then turned away from you and her heart broke when you sniffed aggressively as you latched the metal around her wrists but her stoic resolve never faltered.
"Good going kiddo.," Tony clapped your back, and you spluttered at the insinuation., "Nat, No I-I swear.," Tony gripped your shoulder so hard that you faltered, then your eyes met a sea of green, the storm brewing within them was harsh, yet gentle with its pleading. The both of them silently saying to you: "shut up and play pretend.," to which you responded by dropping your gaze from the redheads and by stepping into line with Tony who sighed in clear relief. "We'll fix this Y/N, I promise you that much."
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
Fighting with a true love is boxing with no gloves ; Chemistry 'til it blows up, 'til there's no us. Why'd I have to break what I love so much. It's on your face, and I'm to blame.
—
I need to say: Hey, it's all me in my head.
I'm the one who burned us down, but it's not what I meant. Sorry that I hurt you.
—
I don't wanna do this to you.
I don't wanna lose this with you.
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
Tony was no help to you, but in your time of need you found solace in the Captain, even though you were just at odds a month prior., "Y/N, I could do this alone you know.," the man was nervous as can be, he knew he was risking facing Natasha's wrath by allowing you to tag along, but he also couldn't deter you but he still had to try., "As if Rogers, now let's go!"
The raft was deemed impenetrable, but it was like nothing to get in for a Super Soldier and a determined girlfriend with a stolen Stark blaster. Taking out the men was just as easy, you we're starting to wonder if this was privy to what the national defense team looked like, because if so the Avengers really did need to make up or the states were surely doomed.
Steve and you entered the room stealthily, your eyes landed on Wanda first, your heart broke at the sight of the young girl in heavy restraints. Without even a second thought you blasted the lock of her cell, setting her free, then you used your powers to fry the latch off her cuffs.
When you were certain she was okay you turned around to see Steve free'd everyone else, but Clint and the ant guy you briefly fought as they chose to stay behind. That's when you noticed Natasha with a menacing expression on her as she spoke to them in harsh whispers.
By the time you were going to approach she was done, looking to you her harsh exterior faltered briefly, but you watched as she put it back on, turning away from you without even speaking to you. It'd been a month since the arrest, and you were just hoping for peace, but it was clear the redhead was still furious.
Everything Natasha does is to protect you, she'd have remained in that cell for all of eternity if it meant you were safe and sound. So she's going to continue protecting you even now, even if that means breaking your heart, and shattering her very own just the same., "We're over.," Natasha managed to get the words she never imagined using out, her heart twinged as they poured from her lips, but she kept a straight face to live up to the facade.
"What?! Nat, no, please...," you cried out as you instinctively launched forward, latching onto her from behind and holding on for dear life., "We can work this out—please, I love you so much. We can live on the run together. I don't care just so long as I have you—please Natty."
Natasha was grateful you couldn't see her, the way her eyes were brimming with tears against her will wouldn't help her to sell the breakup., "I'm tired of your inability to listen Y/N, don't come looking for me again—I'm done here.," she shrugged you off, then continued to walk away from you, leaving you to fall into your sister who was quick to catch your body.
"Shh, sweetheart it'll be okay.," Wanda coo'd, she looked to Sam for help, and the man was at a loss for words, but he scooped you up, and carried you out of the building anyways. Nat watched him leave with you from the shadows, then she snatched Wanda just before she could leave too., "Erase the footage Wanda, she can't go down for this.," the Sokovian nodded, red irises flashed before Natasha to show her the job was complete., "She's safe now Nat."
"Thank you.," the redhead finally let her tears fall without restriction so the witch pulled her in for a hug., "It'll be okay Nat, we'll figure it out, and you'll be able to get her back.," the reactive flutter in her chest felt empty, the words she needed to hear didn't feel promising, but she wouldn't give up on you—never, so she decided to believe the words that there was something to hold onto here; there had to be.
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
I lived like an island, punished you with silence
Went off like sirens, just crying.
Why'd I have to break what I love so much?
It's on your face, don't walk away.
—
I need to say: Hey, it's all me in my head.
I'm the one who burned us down, but it's not what I meant. I'm sorry that I hurt you
—
It's all me, just don't go.
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
Natasha was nervous as she entered the main room of the compound with the rest of her fugitive-esque comrades besides her. Rhodey greeted them., "Well. You guys, really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple of years.," he wore a bittersweet smile, and pulled her in for a brief hug, and though she returned it with a smile her eyes were scoping the room for you.
"Hey guys, don't listen to the old man, I think you all look great.," you softly greeted from the side as you entered the room with supplies, but just like Nat's eyes were only on you, yours were fixed on her just the same., "Hey Y/N.," she smiled warmly at you, the same way she used to when you would wake up besides her, it was her way of saying 'I'm so fucking sorry—we'll talk later, please...,' and you smiled back at her in confirmation before refocusing.
Natasha couldn't take her eyes off of you the whole time that Steve droned on about the stones removal, and where it would take place. Two years had come and gone without you and she had never been so miserable before, it was like once she had you her heart would never be able to beat properly again without you there.
"Her thoughts are so loud.," you chuckled as your sister buried her face in your shoulder., "Stop listening.," you suggested and she glared at you., "What part of loud don't you get Y/N?"
Natasha felt her unsteady heart settle when she heard your far away giggling, she remembered all those times where it was her to cause it. Unwarranted jealousy filled her at the idea that someone else might be that for you now, that her misconception of protection cost her you.
"Go talk to her.," the witch grumbled, and now it was your turn to glare., "Not now Wands, it is the time for a serious battle, not a world war.," your sister snorted, then she looked to you with soft eyes., "Love is worth the fight Y/N/N.," her eyes then drifted to the 'man' asleep at her side, and you comfortingly laid your head atop hers.
After a couple hours the jet landed, and you were the one helping to get Vision safely into the building. Everyone briefly debated what was the best course of action until the King's high tech security system alerted you to company., "Wands, you stay here to guard Vis, we'll be a-okay.," you gently kissed her cheek., "Don't you think you should stay too?," Nat suggested, you deadpanned., "No, not at all."
*She's a big girl Natasha*, Natasha shrugged, *I'm just trying to ensure she remains alive.*
The battle was heinous, ugly creatures broke through the barriers in droves, and no amount of energy you could surmise was ever enough to dwindle their numbers down. It was as if they were simply respawning, and if the sheer size of the army you were facing wasn't enough you now had giant murderous wheels coming at you, and the woman who still owned you.
With everything you had left you focused your mind on short circuiting the machines, which worked out swimmingly, but then you faced their sudden need to tumble forward, so you did all you could do as you tackled Natasha.
She huffed at the sudden impact, and you stared down at the breathtaking blonde, and for a moment you decided this wouldn't be the worst way to go if she's the last thing you'd see. The impact you were expecting never came, you looked up in time to see your sister tossing the machines into a pile of the monsters.
"Y/N.," Natasha calmly said your name, and you were painfully aware that you were still on top of her., "Uh, sorry.," you scrambled off of her, then in a stroke of luck your poor sister was tossed into a ditch so you didn't have to face the awkward situation for very long.
"You'll die alone, as will he.," Wanda winced when the alien kicked her down, and Nat cooly spoke for the both of you., "She's not alone."
Between the three of you she was handled in no time, and without a moment to breathe you were all traveling across the field to face the proclaimed madman himself. He basically obliterated your friends, tossing the strongest people you knew around like they were rag dolls, and you were truly shocked., "Nat!"
Thanos threw her across the field on his way to your sister and the stone. You knew you should be focused on the mission, but your mind was racing with thoughts of protecting Natasha. Nothing mattered to you more than that.
You began to rip the branches away from the blonde, no matter how painful it was, or near impossible it felt you were determined to free her from Thanos's odd magical confinements., "Y/N, stop—I'm okay, and you're bleeding.," you shook your head., "No, you're not okay Natasha, you're trapped, and I won't have it."
It was a pointless fight, the more you tore away the more they grew right back, but you weren't thinking that rationally. Seeing Natasha in this vulnerable state worried you to no end, and she could see just how stressed you were, it was a bittersweet warmth, but it indeed blossomed in her chest to see just how much you still cared.
Natasha shimmied out of the trap just to hear Wanda's pained scream, both of you watched in horror as she was tossed away from a dead Vision, then your eyes tracked to where Thor was stood with a grimace, then in the next instant your entire body was tingling., "Nat?"
Your shaky, battered hands gripped hers, she looked at you fearfully when she saw all of your friends fading into nothingness behind you., "Y/N? I—.," her lip trembled when she felt your hand dematerialize in her own., "No, please..."
"It's okay.," you did your best to calm her down, because sure you were fading away, but seeing her so broken truly hurt you more., "I love you Natasha, we'll meet again, I promise."
Your blood was on her hands, her already gushing ledger was now tainted with you too.
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
Meet me in the afterglow.
—•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•~~~~~~•—
Natasha couldn't believe what she was seeing as she looked at the compounds live footage, the shrinking man was stood there shouting, and her hand was swift to buzz him inside.
"So you're saying that you spent the last five years in a time vacuum?," she looked at him for clarification, her hope now slowly fizzling., "Yes, well no—it's not a vacuum, it's a portal.," he clarified., "Also Miss. Romanoff, it wasn't five years for me, it was only five hours."
Natasha watched the man scarf down her peanut butter sandwich while processing his proposed solution. It was far fetched, but it was the most promising thing to show up at her door yet so she wasn't going to squander it. There was absolutely nothing she wouldn't do to get you back, she didn't think she could hold out much longer without you and her sister.
Both victims of a heartbreak induced by her, and both snapped away before she could make the amends she'd been desperately trying to. Shaking her mind of the tragic honesty she focuses on calling the only man she knows who can pull something of this magnitude off.
Tony, after being reminded of him letting Y/N down on more than one occasion decided he will indeed do his part to fix this horrible mess.
The teams were set in stone: Natasha and Steve were to collect the soul stone from Vormir, and the trek up the mountain side made enjoying the view of a purple and orange sky impossible.
"I bet the raccoon didn't have to climb a mountain.," the redhead grumbled, and the super soldier chuckled., "It isn't that bad."
"Speak for yourself.," she huffed, but before the playful banter could continue she was raising her gun at the ominous floating entity., "Natalia Romanov, daughter of Ivan.," he shifted slightly., "Steve Rogers, son of Sarah."
"Who are you?," she growled., "Red Skull.," Steve answered through gritted teeth, his first ever Avenger level foe somehow slithered his way into what he hope would be his final one.
"Where's the stone?," he readied his shield and his fists, but the entity before him held no fight, he simply guided them to the cliffs edge., "What you seek lies in front of you... as does what you fear.," the friends shivered at his grim tone., "The stone is down there?," Nat asked.
"For one of you. For the other, in order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love. An everlasting exchange. A soul for a soul."
Natasha took a seat on a log, the gravity of the situation weighing her down, but she knew that no matter what took place on this mountain that she'd ensure that you got to return, that you would get to live—no matter the cost.
"Whatever it takes.," Steve repeats his earlier sentiments, and Natasha jumps to her feet., "No, it can't be you Steve, it has to be me."
"Natasha, now you're being ridiculous. I've lived a long, and full life. It is my time far more than it is yours.," the burly man pulls his friend in for a hug., "Don't squander this second chance at love Natasha.," her heart skips as he mentions you—someone to come home to., "Missing out on my chance with Peggy is my heaviest regret; fix the mistakes of the past."
"Steve, it has to be me—my ledger is dripping."
"So is mine Natasha."
"What?! No it—.," he chuckled sadly as he moved to cut her off., "I defended, rallied and stood for a corrupt military time and time again Natasha. Costing thousands if not millions of young people their lives. All that potential for life squandered away fighting the senseless battles of selfish government heads all because I wore the stripes and sold the war."
Steve sighed as he saw the look in her eyes, so he placed his hands on her shoulders., "Let's get this over with Romanoff.," he stepped away and raised his fists, prepared for the fight of his life, and that's exactly what she gave him as she struck the man with a large volt of electricity., "Tell her I loved her Steve, with all my heart."
The man writhed on the ground in pain, but fortunately for him the serum coursing through his veins coupled with pure adrenaline lent to him returning to his feet swiftly., "Tell her yourself Natasha!," he grunted, throwing his shield with just enough force to knock her down, and it effectively knocked the wind from her lungs, and therefore the fight in her body.
"Give this to Sam when you guys win.," he rushes out, he's not got long before she's back on her feet., "Tell him that there's no one more deserving of the mantel than him.," he left the shield atop of her to slow her down even more., "Please, also tell Bucky that I love him, that he's allowed to move passed his ledger, and that I'm sorry, but this is the end of the line."
—
Natasha's not sure how it got this bad so fast, but as she clutches her ribs, and wipes blood from her lip she wonders if it was all for not.
Did Steve jump for nothing?
Will you really be gone forever?
Does she die today knowing that she failed you in every manageable way possible?
"On your left.," the coms crackle but she hears the man loud and clear., "On your wing.," you add, and Natasha's heart beats wildly when she looks up to see you actually on his wings., "Woman! Get down.," your giggle warms her entirely, and she herself smiles fondly when thinking of how only you could enter the end of the world battle in the happiest of spirits.
"Lady Natasha.," the redhead turns to face the beaten down man who'd shared in her fight against the purple titan of the past., "Catch!"
Natasha's eyes widen when Mjolnir is headed straight for her, she instinctively reaches out to catch it, and when her fingers crackle with a bit of blue she gasps—she's worthy.
"I knew it!," she smiles back at the Asgardian, then she readies herself for battle., "Avengers," she presses down on her coms., "Assemble."
The entirety of your side charges forward, you find yourself smiling as you follow Natasha's lead, she was always the real voice of reason so you are rather proud of her for filling the role. All you wanted to do was talk to her, as that was what you were so close to doing after two years before you were snapped into the void.
It was grueling not being able to, but you knew you needed to focus as the aliens surrounded you, jolts of electricity continued to leave you, knocking them down in droves, but your body was still exhausted from the previous battle back on Wakanda, because for you that was only a few hours ago, so your work got sloppy. Now you found yourself on the ground, sharp talons hovering above your face, you pushed against its arms until red tendrils lifted the creature, and Mjolnir flew it across the field.
Wanda yanked you up from the ground, and as you steadied you locked eyes with Natasha just as soon as the hammer returned to her. She smirked at your look of shock, and you shyly dropped your head before following your sister who had intended to face the purple man.
While she held him in the air, tearing his suit from his body you used jolts of electricity to keep the aliens away from her, and to your absolute luck a blonde reminiscent of a comet comes barreling down from the sky, and takes the gauntlet from the evil creature with ease.
Carol had the gauntlet, Wanda held her hand, and you slipped yours into hers for the safest bet that none of you will leave in a body bag.
"No.," Natasha's heart drops—not again, she will not lose you for the fourth time, but as she went to run at you Clint caught her., "Trust the process Natasha.," she thrashed in his hold., "Fuck the process.," she had met your gaze and her fight stopped, your features were so calm, so like Clint said—she would have to trust you.
"Are you guys ready?," your sister nodded, and you did the same before facing the furious titan. He was kneeling on the ground, panting heavily in a moment of obvious weakness.
Carol lifted the gauntlet, and as she prepared to snap Natasha sobbed at the sight of you, your smile of anticipated victory faltered, and the anguish you were experiencing as the powers surged between the three of you was obvious., "Not so inevitable, huh?," you still managed to taunt the man through gritted teeth, and just as you finished the blonde snapped her fingers, and the army of aliens slowly disintegrated.
Natasha watched you slump into Wanda who was struggling to keep the both of you upright, but the witch managed to lean the both of you into a pile of rubble for the short time being. Natasha ran at full speed, dust settling around her as she raced to be at your side, no amount of aching in her body could stop her either. Once she reached you she pulled you into her instead, holding you upright and leaning in to press her forehead against yours as her tears continued to race down her red cheeks.
"We did it Natty.," you coughed with a dopey smile, and the redhead shushed you for the sake of your strength., "You did so good detka, I'm so proud of you, so incredibly proud."
"Detka?," your eyes were now softly glistening, her heart ached at your unsureness, she gently moved to cup your dirtied face in her hand., "Tell me that you're still mine.," she sobbed., "Please Y/N/N, tell me that we'll be just fine.," You met her pleas with a tired smile, and nod., "Even when I lose my mind?," she giggled at your question., "Especially then, an unhinged Y/N is incredibly hot.," her heart fluttered wildly when you giggled too, she missed this.
The happiness quickly faded though as you softly voiced your unfiltered thoughts to her., "Tell me that it's not my fault.," she quickly shook her head., "Oh detka, you were innocent, forced to watch your family falling apart. I'm so sorry for adding to it, but I had to protect you."
"You know, we could've faced it all together Natty, I was ready to risk my freedom for you.," she frowned at the idea of all the lost time, and part of her even agrees now, had she known then what she knew now she would've let you., "I-I know detka—leaving you behind was the hardest thing I've ever done, and it will live within my heart forever as my biggest regret."
"Please, tell me that I'm all you want Nat.," there was an insecurity in your eyes she never thought she'd be faced with. How you could still be questioning her want—no, her need for you was a bit perplexing., "Of course you're all I want Y/N, a life without you is unbearable."
"I want this Natty, we can leave this all behind us, and move forward having learned better, how not to burn down it all to the ground."
"Even when I break your heart?," this time it was her with the insecurities swimming in her gorgeous green orbs., "No.," you sighed sadly., "But if you promise to never do it again then we can do this, we can be us again; be happy."
"I promise.," her hands fell to grab yours, she brought them to her lips for a smattering of soft kisses., "No more running, or breaking. This love is too precious to squander.," she softly moved your hands atop her shoulders, and you finished the move by connecting them behind her neck as hers settled on your hips.
Natasha desperately wanted to devour you after all this time, the way you were staring at her didn't exactly help either, but she settled for a few slow kisses as to not overwhelm you., "I love you Natty.," she smiled so wide that the kiss was broken apart., "Ya lyublyu tebya Y/N."
The grim battlefield was full of similar reunions, but the two of you were none the wiser as you stayed in your own bubble for as long as you could. Once the two of you parted Natasha went off to find the frantic soldiers, and you went to collect the devastated witch. Wanda clung to you as you escorted her to the undamaged car Natasha pointed out to you earlier, and by the time the redhead made it back to you she found the both of you asleep and cuddled up together in the backseat.
As quietly as she could she got the car started and set the GPS for her Ohio childhood home. It was completely furnished as she'd been in the process of readying it for you over the blip. No amount of naysaying ever stopped her from believing your sisters words all those years back. That hope for a future with you was all that kept her breathing the last seven years, and now that you're here she's breathing fine.
Natasha admired the sunset as she coasted down the Highway, once she settled in the middle lane she readjusted the rear view mirror to catch a glimpse of you. The rays of orange and pinks softly casted over your sleeping face, and oh did you look beautiful.
You were positively glowing, and Natasha was simply basking in the warmth of your love.

Healing incantation
Summary: After his wife and daughter died he thought he lost everything. However, you for some reason, you'd didn't disappear. So, Miguel locked you up. He had to find some way to protect vou so vou couldn't be taken from him like Gabriella. What better way to do that then keep you in his dimension where he could get to you in case of anything
warnings: talks about death, bleeding, bad parenting,
Maybe hobie should have listened to the call that rung through his watch as a warning and he,d be ready for the greasiest anomaly to switch universes to the universe he currently sat in. The anomaly was on a mission which nobody knew. The answer would most definitely not be in the screams being heard down the street from the balcony the two sat on while the sun set. Hobie immediately grabbed you before hopping off the building and going to see a monster also known as an anomaly that was turning the world around them to stone with every step they took around the world. The both of you landed in an alleyway near the crime.
“Stay here unless you see the ground start to change then run. We’ll meet up later, yeah?” he said, even if he wasn’t asking a question before swinging off. Superheroes were always so willing to jump into action, worrying about the people even if they were from another universe. But hobie looked so good while he swung off and the attitude was even more attractive then he already was.
It was a short wait before you were snatched into the sky. Excitement filled your body, thinking it was Hobbie but it actuality it was another spider-man. Their suit was black and white with pink and blue highlights inside her hood. “What are you doing here? It’s dangerous you have to run.” She spoke before dropping you on a road far from the woman that hobie fought. Hobie was struggling to keep her down until someone else came to join the fight. She recognized it as her dads infamous suit that knocked the anomaly to the floor. With seeing his suit, you actually took of running, trying to find some shelter away from the bad guy and your father knowing what would’ve happen if he was to catch you here. You kept running until yet again you were snatched by vibrant red busses. All of a sudden hou were sitting on a roof with miguel directly in front of your face. He didn’t look to happy either.
“What the hell are you doing here?” He asks, breathless and angry. You felt like a little girl again, when you’d get yelled at for breaking glass or falling down the stairs. You had made yet another dangerous mistake which gave the man a heart attack, his one hou in the world would’ve been killed or worse if not for him saving you. Behind him, you could faintly see hobie and gwen trying to keep hold of the anomaly before hobie drops to the ground.
“Dad-“
“I dont want to hear it. You’re coming home and you are Never leaving do you understand?” So this was it? We’re you supposed to leave and just be back to your boring house life yet again when this was the most fun you had in all 18 years of living? Wee you supposed to forget hobie brown? Your flynn ryder just like that? “Are we clear y/n?” Miguel said however it wasn’t a question, it was an order. He knew what your answer was going to be because he was in charge in his eyes.
“Dad I can stay in the house anymore! What are you hiding me from?” You yelled, now completely facing him and pushing the little girl inside of you down.
Miguel yells back. “You aren’t old enough to understand! I will not sit here an argue with you! We are going home!” miguel opens a portal and grabs your arm. You look behind him and couldn’t see the anomaly anymore you saw Hobie being helped up by the other spider.
Did he get beaten up all because of you? He looked horrible with his mask up and his face bloody. All you wanted deep down was to run to him and help him like he helped you experience the times of your life out of the grips of Mr. O’hara.
So, are you going home?
The poll decides what chapter idea i have will go out! And sorry for the short chapter, I have two suprises coming out soon so stay tuned! Thanks for reading!

The Legend of Zelda: Real Courage | Chapter Eighteen: ReDead Knight
The first thing Lila did when she woke up was yawn. Before opening her eyes, she heard someone else breathing. The breathing was quiet and calm. Whoever it was was asleep.
Lila opened her eyes to see none other than Prince Zale. It seemed she couldn't get away from him. Still laying on the rocky ground, Lila watched his peaceful sleep. He was sitting against the rock wall, a backpack rolled behind his back. He looked like he hadn't meant to sleep that way.
"Lila!"
Mori's voice startled her. She sighed and turned her head to see him.
"How do you feel?" he asked, landing next to her.
"My head hurts, and so does my arm, but mostly I'm okay."
Zale grunted and shifted. "Mori," he mumbled, "let her sleep."
"Do you mean let you sleep?"Lila joked.
"No, I'm keeping watch," he answered with closed eyes.
Lila whispered to Mori, "Thank you for finding him. I shouldn't have yelled at you."
"Back off!" Zale roared, springing awake. When he saw only Lila and Mori, he blinked the sleep out of his eyes. "You're up."
"So are you," Lila said with a smile. "Thank you. I don't know what would've happened to me if I didn't get help."
Zale sighed in relief. "If Mori hadn't shown up when he did, I might not have found you. You were lucky. I'm glad you're okay."
Lila sat up with Zale's help. "How long has it been?"
"About a day," Mori answered.
"Drink this," Zale said, handing her a water skin. "But only a sip."
"Why only a sip?"
"In case you can't tolerate it yet. You vomited a few times last night."
"Oh. Oh, I'm hungry."
"Start with the water." Lila did as he suggested, then handed back the skin. Zale said, "Keep it. You need to take lots of sips until you're ready for food."
As Lila recovered, she struggled with wanting to move on but being too weak to. On top of the wound and sickness, sleeping on the ground made her body ache all over. Moving too much made something new hurt afresh.
"Do you want to come with us?" Lila asked a few hours later.
"You didn't want me when you fought Volvagia," Zale countered.
"I was mad back then. If you join us, I wouldn't mind the company."
"Is that a good idea?" Mori wondered.
"Sure it is," Lila replied. "Zale just saved my life, give him a little more credit." When Mori didn't say anything else, she wondered if he was thinking about Lady Ganondra.
Zale said, "Yeah, I'll come with you. What are you doing here?"
"I'm looking for something. Actually, I don't know where to look exactly. Mori, any suggestions?"
"I sensed something near the Knight, but this place is so large I can't tell if it's what we need."
"What is it you're looking for?" Zale asked.
"You'd think it was silly."
"Try me."
"A pair of boots."
Zale had no answer for that. He looked befuddled.
With a laugh, she said, "I told you. Come on. Let's get going."
"Lila, you can't be serious," Zale said, reaching out to stop her. "There's no way you can fight a ReDead Knight in your condition."
She ignored him and started gathering their things. "Who says I have to fight it? We'll just go around—"
"You misunderstood," Mori interrupted. "TheReDead Knight is guarding whatever I sensed, so yeah, you do have to fight it."
Still, Lila packed her bags. "It'll be okay. I've gone through worse, you know it."
"No, Lila, you're staying away from that thing," Zale said. "I'll take care of it."
Finally, she stopped to look at him. "Like you can take on a fully armed, decrepit soldier."
"Yes, I can. Look inside my pack."
"What?" Lila laughed.
Zale crossed his arms. "Go ahead."
Lila shook her head but went to his pack anyway. It didn't take her much to find something wrapped in leather. She pulled it out and unwrapped it.
"A crossbow?" she said skeptically. "With your arms?"
"Looks can be deceiving." He put his hand out, so she passed over the crossbow. "Let's finish cleaning up, and I'll show you."
"Well that explains the shape of his bag," Mori commented.
Lila asked Mori, "Tell me you don't believe he can do it."
"He didn't believe you could beat Volvagia."
She felt her face get hot. "That... that's different."
"You keep telling yourself that."
Zale chuckled under his breath.
Once they were all set, Mori led the way to the knight's derelict home. They stopped where an old rock wall provided some coverage.
"How do you propose luring it out?" Lila asked as Zale readied his crossbow.
"Well, I could do it if you really—"
"Fine, I'll do it!" She pulled out her sword and rounded the rock.
"I meant Mori—"
"Just have my back."
Zale sighed. "Right behind you."
The sound of steel dragged across packed dirt alerted Lila to the knight's presence. She redirected all attention towards it, ready to jump out of the way of its scream.
"Lila, you're blocking my shot," Zale warned.
"I won't be soon," she muttered. The knight was close enough. Lila lunged before it could mount an attack.
"No!"
Her sword hit the knight's shield arm but didn't go through all the way. Its arm went limp, but Lila's sword was stuck. The knight brought up its sword to attack. She dodged to the side and shouted, "Now!"
An arrow went clean through the knight's eye. It jerked back, giving Lila the added strength to free her sword, and then released its terrible wail.
With Lila frozen once again, Zale let loose another arrow. This one pierced the knight's throat. The scream diminished into an ugly gurgle, and the knight fell. Zale ran to Lila before the paralysis wore off.
"Are you okay?" he asked frantically, searching every inch of her. "Come on, snap out of it!"
Slowly she started to regain feeling. She tensed and relaxed what muscles she could to speed up the process.
"I'm all right," she said. "Don't act so worried." She took a step back and rotated her shoulder to get the blood flowing.
"But I am worried about you—"
"Don't, Zale," Lila warned. "I can handle myself." She walked to the mostly-standing house. "But thanks for having my back."
"You're welcome."
Zale and Mori followed her. Inside – if only three standing walls could be considered an inside – there were pieces of chairs, a table turned on its side, and a bar on the far end. Nearly everything was caked with dirt around it.
"I don't see anything worthwhile in here," said Lila.
Mori answered, "Check behind the bar."
When she looked, she found a chest that appeared older than the building. When she tried to open it, it wouldn't budge.
"Looks like the hinges and lock have rusted shut," Zale observed.
"That's easily solved." Lila thrust the hilt of her sword onto the offending metal until each broke off. Then she wedged her blade in the crack and pried it open. "Done."
"That doesn't look like a pair of boots." Zale pulled out a musty bag of the same color as the interior of the chest. He held it open for Lila.
"What the heck is this?" she asked.
"It's a boomerang," Mori and Zale said at the same time.
Lila raised an eyebrow at them. "And... what's a boomerang?"
"When you throw it, it comes back," Zale answered first.
Mori added, "You can use it to stun enemies."
"Like a ReDead Knight?" Lila asked.
"Yes," they said together again.
"Could've used this yesterday."

Saying that Bucky and you were friends wasn’t something exactly. You fought together a couple of times before you retired from superhero life. Like many of them, the war had finished and you chose calm over being a private agent. More or less like the ex-soldier, with the difference that he went to New York and you didn’t be able to find a home until Sam made you a call. He was quite the opposite of Bucky for you, connecting since the very first second you met. After he told you about his sister’s financial trouble, he offered you a roof to sleep under in exchange for your powers to control the tide and promote the movement of fish stocks. Of course, it was a hit, and you finally found peace in Delacroix. A celebration was inevitable, it was part of Wilsons’ DNA, but you weren’t expecting Bucky to show up with Sam; although he told you in your last call that they were working together. Or something like that.
As soon as your eyes laid on him among the crowd, you knew he had changed after more than six months without seeing each other. You couldn't help but feel happy for Bucky when you saw him smiling for the first time. He had a beautiful and innocent smile, seeming like a new man. Renovated, with want to live, enjoying playing with kids and talking to old men about war stories.
You had placed your back against an oak column, away from the crowd but close enough to check on everyone, in case they need help with anything. A beer was resting against your lips, doubting on continuing drinking, lost in your thoughts. There was something about Bucky going from one side to another, laughing unworried, that had fully captivated your attention. You weren't able to stop looking at him, chuckling when you saw one of Sam's nieces putting a magnet with the form of a crab on his left arm.
“I have that teen-in-love's face on camera”.
You frowned at Redwing some inches away from your face. As a response, you tried to slap it down. But your friend was faster than you controlling that thing.
“He looks good, uh?”
“Oh, shut up…” You replied by clicking your tongue and rolling your eyes, having a sip from your drink to put your eyes away to the sea.
“He asked if you'd be here… Just saying”.
“Shut up, Samuel!” You implored, rubbing the bridge of your nose.
As the night went on and the guests started to leave, Sarah asked you to take Jim and Jody home while she stayed there cleaning with his brother about the business. You were exhausted too, and she noticed it. And after saying your goodbyes, you headed to the parking where your car was stationed, carrying the younger Wilson onto your arms —peacefully sleeping— as his big brother was yawning loudly. At that point, you realized that it was going to be a tough mission to put them in the car.
“Wait! Lemme help”.
The male voice coming from behind you made you turn around and before you could react, Bucky was taking Jody from your arms to his. You smirked softly in response, looking for the key in the right pocket of your jacket to unlock the car. The soldier tucked the younger in the back seat, placing the belt around him as Jim occupied the other side of the SUV.
“It's been good to see you”. You said after closing the door, staying outside in front of him.
“Same”. He replied, not knowing what else to say.
Puckering your lips and clapping the key on your palm, you nodded with your chin, feeling the nerves running through your veins. “Good night, Bucky”.
“Good night, (Y/N)”.
You gave him your back, sighing inappreciably, to open the pilot's place and came in.
“He— Hey, wait”.
“Uh?”
“Sam told me… you were tired. I might give you a ride back home. I can wait for him there”. The offering made you glance towards him, already sitting in your car but with a leg rest on the ground. “If you want, I mean…”
Of course he did (...). That son of a bitch had the audacity to push you onto the other. You bit your inner cheek, landing your eyes on the wheel. Yes, you were tired. You woke up at five to sail with Sarah, then you organized the party and cooked for it. You hadn't had a single second of rest during the whole day. And Sam took advantage of it, feeling like he was some kind of Cupido. And you had to recognize that it was also very considerate coming from Bucky.
“I'd appreciate it… actually”. You ended up agreeing, stepping out to give him the keys and ceding your seat.
The ride was silent between the two of you, hearing some quiet indie music playing on the radio while you fought against your brain to stay awake. Luckily, it didn't take him too long to reach Sarah's house —although you were barely keeping your eyes open at this point. Again, he helped you with the kids, walking indoors and following you to their respective rooms. You tucked Jim and Jody on their beds, making sure they were comfy before placing a kiss on their foreheads and wishing them a good night. Bucky had rested his back against the wall, in front of the elder’s room, just waiting for you. And you could swear that you saw him briefly smirking because of the tenderness in your actions.
After closing the last door, you waved your head to urge him to follow you downstairs to the living room. With an exhausted sigh escaping your lips, you let your body fall on the sofa, curling on a side of it to give Bucky some space. You couldn’t help but yawn, turning on the TV by using the control remote.
“It’s good to have a home to come back”.
“Yeah… After all the shitty situations we’ve been through… We deserved a rest, don’t you think?” You replied grabbing a cushion from the floor, using it as a pillow over the armrest. “Sorry, I… I’m deadly tired…”
“Come here, that will hurt when you wake up”.
Bucky didn’t hesitate on beckoning to his arms, taking off his boots heel against heel to place both legs over the coffee table. You didn’t resist, knowing it would be comfier by his way. Sitting up, you lied to the opposite side, being wrapped instantly and snuggled against his warm body. Shameless, you rest your head on his right forearm, practically laying over his lap. But you felt good. You felt like it was a good reward after a long day, rolling down your eyelids and focusing on the caresses in your hair you didn’t know you needed.
For a moment, your mind wandered and fantasized about this last hour being part of your real life. Putting your kids to sleep and then cuddle with your husband till falling asleep. Smell Bucky’s strong and edgy scent. Your hands scratching his back. His fingertips stroking your scalp. Your legs laced (...)
Oh, God, Sam. What did you do?

Every since commercial space flights became affordable, humans have been eager to see what's lurking beyond their own habitat; though most stay within the milkyway, on comfortable planets where air is breathable and no dangerous living beings exist.
Turning off all flight engines and getting his space ship ready to stay in place for a bit, he checks every info his systems give him. The air has very good quality, so he's happy to not have to use his heavy suit this time-though even if he had to, he's become used to it.
Grabbing his already pre-packed backpack, he loads it onto his back with a well-pracriced movement, the item smacking onto his back, before he grabs his knife and weapon, just in case. Ever since his encounter with an aggressive hoard of big cat-like predators on the second planet years prior, he's become more aware of the dangers he could face.
The door opens, hydraulic systems hissing as the door lifts, revealing the surroundings to him. It's.. nice. A slightly blue hue to everything, probably due to microorganisms in the air. There's butterfly-like insects flying about in a field of blue flowers close by- still a bit spooked by his sudden landing it seems.
He walks closer after checking twice if his spaceship really is locked, scanning the insects with a small device he always keeps close. Registering them under a simple number combination, he takes good images of them as well to later on document them in his own little library.
He walks into the woods afterwards, fascinated by the natural glow of the tree's flowers blooming, bathing the entire forest grounds in a cool toned hue. Every step he takes is slow, thoughtful, while he scans and saves every bit of data he can on his finds. His device reminds him of the approximate time night will start; only a few hours left of this day, so he won't walk far.
Something on his way catches his eyes; the ground torn open and clawed as if something had fought here- it makes his inked hand slowly fall towards his gun, unhooked the safety before he pulls it out of its holster, just in case. He can hear something; a sound low, similar to a big cat, intimidating and dangerous in its nature. The device vibrates against his hip where he'd placed it, a sign that whatever sound it's picked up belongs to a predator.
He knows already- that's why both hands are holding the gun now.
He carefully rounds a corner, partially hiding behind a tree when he takes in the scene; a large, dark animal whipping it's tail from side to side, prowling on what seems to be a rather.. humanoid creature. The dark cat crouches down, while the alien lifeform in front of it seems exhausted- clothes torn and scratches visible. It seems feminine; reflective eyes looking still ready to fight, even though it's elongated, cat-like ears are drawn back, probably due to their emotional state.
He remembers you.
He'd met you before, when your planet's government officials had visited earth to discuss some political things- you'd been brought to earth with a travelers ticket, and he'd helped you find your way back into your hotel for the night when you'd struggled to navigate the big city. He remembers sharing Mochi icecream with you near Han river- how your eyes had sparkled when the lights began to glow above the waters, ears perking up when someone close by started to sing.
So in that moment, with you in danger and the gun in his hands, Jungkook aims, puts his finger on the trigger- and shoots.
It scares not only the animal, which tries to escape with a yowl before it drops down, but also you; wide eyes looking directly into his direction. He emerges from his hiding place; hands up though his gun is still in his hand. "I'm friendly!" He says, and you watch him warily, before looking at the beast. "Its just a tranquilizer shot. It's not dead, I- can you uhm.. remember me? Jungkook?" He wonders, and you look at him, before making a pinching gesture, probably to say 'only a little.'
He doesn't take it personally- it's been what, four years? Maybe longer.
"You're hurt." He states, pointing at your wounds, squatting down close to you. "I can help." He offers, and you want to shake your head, standing up- just to sway and fall from the bloodloss- jungkook steadying you carefully, before he notices you going limp.
He's not going to take the chance; considering the predator is pretty big, he doubts it'll be knocked out foe long- so he simply throws you over his shoulder instead, bringing you back to his spacecraft, hoping he can somehow help you.
Maybe it's fate he's met you again.

corrupt; draken, ken ryuguji [01]
Summary:
In which you met the man of your past, but he didn't come back to remind you of the bitter break-up. Draken had one thing in mind and it was to never let you leave his side ever again. Distance made the heart grow fonder but he'd rather let you spend the rest of your life hating him if it meant you'd never leave his sight.
"I don't wish you well when you ain't with me, I want you crying."

[01: jealousy]
Draken wanted to take you away.
The curves of your spine, flowing down to the slope of your well-rounded bottom flesh, he watched the symmetrical dimple right above your butt - mocking him that those precious intimate spots were no longer his possession to own.
It wasn't only him who shared the same thought; everyone in this crowded room had their eyes glued on you. As if you were holding those guests captive, you felt immense pressure on your feet and thighs, quivered before you wrapped your leg around the shining pole.
Spinning, spinning, spinning.
Those blinding lights showered your sweating figure in all fairness, the sound of Abel's voice had long dimmed down, it meant that your show was done. It was silent in a minute,
lifting your face - your lips curled into a hunting smile and the room soared with cheers, crumpled money tossed across the stage, but your sense of content was suppressed by the overwhelming tension.
A pair of black pupils were starring at you - pinning you to where you stood. He was among the crowd, all in his glory without care but you. You felt something burst inside your chest, unable to tear your focus from him.
This longing for him is toxic.
Flashes of memories where those sober eyes bore into yours when he pumped his fat cock into your tight cunt until his thick cum over spilled, the same eyes that once shone with so much love but turned cold.
"Dollface!"
A shout from backstage startled you from your daze, another coworker came up and escorted you down, assisting you to take off the painful high heels.
"What's with you?" She threw a curious stare your way.
You still couldn't wrap your mind. He was there. Flesh and soul, presented in front of you. It was a brief eye contact but it was enough. Enough to tell you that he was coming back for you.
It had been years since the two of you chose to split up, making your paths without each other's companion.
"I, I've got to go. I forgot that I locked the windows, my cat's probably waiting for me. He's been out for 3 days so he's starving I think. Y'all can continue without me,"
You stood but your knees turned weak at the sudden arrival of him, standing by the door. A few steps taken back, you lost all rationality to stay calm because your heart thumped loudly.
Standing tall on his 6' ft, athletic and young Draken was nowhere to be seen but replaced - with a mature adult man that induced everything he carried into lust.
The robust body looked incredibly fit, lean, and you could see the strong outlines of his defined chest and abdominal muscles from the black shirt. If it was years ago, those leather jackets wouldn't suit him - he'd look like those up-start wannabe gangsters.
But it was different now. It clung to his broad shoulders perfectly, he wasn't as cheap as those local pranksters. The dark jeans also did little job in hiding his long legs. He was indeed a member of a gang; eerie and cruel - but he had never look this good that you want to fuck.
Draken's presence was enough to brush away every man in the room that you belonged to him. Your little admirers couldn't even look at him in the eyes, let alone make up a fight.
They left with a strong sense of defeat; no wonder you never once accept any confessions, turned out you have such a man waiting.
"Why is he here? This area is off-limits. Only staff is allowed. Naoki, guide him out." You forced yourself to mutter those words, uncaring to look at him with your back facing him.
Naoki sighed, this man literally slipped $750 under the table just to meet you. Those incompetent flies who claimed to love you didn't even spare this much effort. She only signaled him to step in before she whispered to you,
"Remember the guy I told you? The one that booked a whole session for your private room? He's that guy. It's just that he arrived a little early than the arranged meeting but it'll be great if you can build a connection with him."
You glared back, "Then send him back. We still have a week before that, right? I'm tired. I can't keep up with this," You pushed off her hand from your shoulder, began to take off your wig. His eyes were still the same; always undressing you naked.
Naoki could only grit her teeth, the money already landed in her pocket. What if he asked it back? She can't let such a great deal slip so she greeted him,
"She's a bit tired from the recent show. How about we push this to tomorrow? She's got free time on her hand to rest too." At least, this would do, right?
"If I have so much time on my hands, I wouldn't have come a week early. So you guess it yourself." His voice has changed too. It was an octave lower, you immediately rubbed your thighs together before you waved a hand.
"Haaa... leave us, Naoki. But I need you to go to my house. I wasn't joking about what I said earlier."
Naoki hurriedly nodded, clutching to her pocket before her eyes warily darted from Draken to you. Is this a couple feud? She noted in her head that she'd help this guy soon in the future - who doesn't want easy money?
"Okay, I will. Sir...? Err.. hope you have a pleasant chat with Dollface. I will excuse myself then ." The hindrance in Draken's eyes finally left the room, the door closed in a thump and the subtle tension thickened.
He didn't say anything, only leaned his body by the door as he watched you wiped off your makeup. This was his morning view back when you were still wet behind ears about pole dancing. You'd come back at the crack of drawn and he'd already been out to his workshop.
"Dollface."
Stubborn like a little cat, your doe eyes didn't look up from your make-up bag and he could see through your act to be so busy. He loved how feisty you've become after years. It eased his heart that you could chase off those little shit.
"It suits you, [Y/N]. Face so pretty like a doll. Make one's heart itch to keep around. But I wonder why the name sounds so familiar."
"State your business. I'm heading home straight after this so don't expect a lap dance or something."
"Then that's the plan. I'll drive you home, eh?"
That damn 'eh'. He picked up your habit too well that the time he spent with you shaped him into copying your habit. It sounded cute but your heart still couldn't forgive him. Let him suffer a little.
"Don't need to. My boyfriend is great at doing his job. So do me a favor and let me rest quickly, how about that?"
Now, you were looking at him through the mirror. It was just too hard for you to muster yourself to face him directly. Draken didn't seem shaken. He stood straightly, you clenched your thighs tighter.
"Have I ever been quick in everything when I'm with you, [Y/N]?" His towering figure gawked over your smaller frame - casting his shadow over you as his sharp facial features caught your attention.
"Can't remember. Maybe? Because I said it just now almost like a reflex." You replied, not backing down but instead, squaring up to him that your ample breasts brushed against his torso.
His cologne didn't smell like the tacky, cheap body spray he used to own. This one smelled so expensive, alienated your memory of his familiar scent.
"Now you're getting older, your memory is getting rusty, dollface. Should I put on a play and see if you can call anything in mind?" You felt your breath became heavier but he didn't let you lose your focus yet.
Your chin was tugged upwards, the shadow of his cap cast upon his face and you remembered now; it was his eyes. Because he wasn't vocal about his feelings, you could understand everything from his eyes.
"You've grown softer, Draken. I almost threw up listening to you talk like this. What, are you changing jobs now? Don't tell me you went from a gangster to a con artist."
No, you were lying to yourself. Draken didn't change but improved. Change can be something bad but he never did anything that would bring him down. He just got better.
And it was true when the velvety touch on your beating pulse suddenly moved to your lips before he squished your cheeks in his hand.
"Fucking hot as hell but so damn annoying." He laughed, the light from his eyes never return, only replaced by a wicked glint.
He wanted to take you to his place, fuck you in his bed until you couldn't walk properly so he'd have more reasons to keep you at his place. He wanted to swallow you whole and he barely even started but why was it so damn hard to have you?
"Don't dare to think of anything nasty. You might not care about commitment in a relationship, but I do. So take your hands off me, Draken."
"Kenie. It's Kenie for you."
Your lips were so plump and wet, his other arm wrapped around your waist - hoisting you up to his body before he leaned by the dresser.
You shrieked when his scalding hot palm touched your naked back and as he untied the strings of your bra, he smiled at your face as he said,
"Do you think I'm going to believe that, dollface? Do you really think I don't know that this pussy hasn't been fucked well for months? I have eyes across this ward. You don't get to fool me."
Heat rose to your face, your small hands pushed on his shoulders, "You're still up in my business? Sounds like someone can't fucking move on."
He nodded, ripping off your lacey bralette and his big hands began to palm your heavy breast - carelessly rubbing your nipple with his thumb. You fought the urge to moan, you hold onto his shoulder for dear strength.
"You're right. I can't move on." Your breath hitched, he nuzzled his face to the column of your neck, inhaling so deep, and wrapped his arms tightly around your body. He missed you so much. So much that if you ran away again, he'd just kill himself.
"I fucked my fist thinking of you. I got this hard just by thinking of you. I'm not ashamed of it."
"That's your problem, Draken. I'm not you. I'm living my best life right now, and sorry that I can still cum just with my fingers."
"That's my girl," He pushed you until your back met the concrete wall, your eyes widened when he took off his cap and put it on you before he dropped to his knees.
"I am aware of your appetite, [Y/N]. You won't be happy with such a small meal. You always keep coming back to have your tight pussy stuffed. Even when we were living together, you couldn't stop begging my dick every night."
"What the hell are you talking about-" You pushed his forehead away from your private part, one hand covering your pussy but he gripped the side of your hips - bringing you straight to his mouth.
"I don't care if you use me as your favorite Cherry Twins. But don't deny that I made you cummed the hardest when I was in your life, dollface."
Your eyes became misty, his words just flew through your head - empty when his mouth latched on your clothed crotch, lapping on the small fabric that the nudge of his tongue probed on your budding clit.
Cherry Twins were the name he gave to your vibrators. Since he was always out when you were at home, he'd make you use them to your greedy cunt - even made a video call so he could jerk off in the public restroom.
You were wild, but he taught you to live even wilder.

━ end of the world
synopsis; a forbidden love told for generations
contains; human reader, major character death, swearing, mentions of war, spoilers
god c!technoblade / reader, 3.4k wc
note; the title doesn't make much sense but whatever lol ,, this is for @mayasimagines 's 600 event! congratulations and i hope you like this :)
throughout the fall of countries, the crumbling of empires, there stood a man. he gazed upon the vast land, the grass stained red. buildings had crashed down, debris staining the area around them. they layed in heaps of piles, taller than most. the fallen down buildings had been a sign of the empire's loss.
there was no one alive to commemorate the loss however.
screaming rung inside of his head, shouting and yelling, with some other tones mixed in. displeased and ecstatic and mocking tones blended together, sounds of chaos lingering in the mind of the man. he only sighed, walking away from the destroyed country.
he's seen this happen too many times before, the repetitive cycle of watching a country build itself only to come crashing down years later. they never lasted long. always the one for chaos, he sometimes participated in the destruction of the countries, though most times he didn't need to.
humans were savage, brutal creatures who only cared about themselves. by studying their nature, the way they go about certain scenarios, he had figured out that much. selfish, twisted beings who would betray each other in a heartbeat. all it took was more wealth or a promise of better gear.
how easily swayed they were. technoblade sneered, his red cape dragging beneath him as he stalked the hallways. pillars of quartz, chipped at the edges from years of standing, lined the hallway. they reached the ceiling, some even going higher. the magnificent red carpet he stalked down had ended at a throne.
a throne made of gold, the shiniest material he could get his servants to find. emeralds and diamonds and rubies lined the top of it, the same jewels lining the gold of his crown. at last, he sat down, the voices calming down at the familiar seating area. they always got loud whenever there was destruction.
technoblade, the blood god. also known as the god of war and chaos to many, he wasn't very popular among the peaceful people. people often worshipped him for protection, to which he rarely granted. protection from him, a god of war, was seldom. often he didn't care about the hunans enough to waste his protection on them.
yet, one mortal, had caught his eye. they were nothing too special, middle class and usually someone technoblade wouldn't even spare a glance at. they were different though. they outshined any ray of sun, their smile proving to be the brighter of the two. he found them, despite all odds, very interesting.
later, after wine and more sparring, the man had caught wind of philza coming over. philza, the angel of death, had been one of technoblade's good allies, even so far as to consider the blond a friend. he brought saints to their knees in their final moments, allowing them either an eternity in hell or a peaceful life above.
he wanted to meet them, and technoblade always gets what he wants.
even before technoblade had become the god he is now, forever cursed to watch humanity rip itself apart, he knew philza. the two fought wars together, never straying from their path of loyalty. the blond perched himself on the windowsill, his striking white wings folding on his back, as he smiled at the other. "hello technoblade." he greeted, ever the polite man.
technoblade only scoffed, shaking his head with an amused grin. "please, phil," he drawled, looking from his red wine to the angel of death. "no need for the formalities. just call me techno." the blond threw his head back with a laugh, wide smile painting his features as the other chuckled. "of course, mate."
silence washed over the pair for a moment, a comforting silence that allowed them to bask in the moment od seeing each other. they didn't get to visit often, one thing they mutually hated about being in the sky palace, usually swamped with other duties. philza with guiding people to the afterlife, and technoblade with causing conflict.
"i actually wanted to talk about somethin' with ya, mate." phil broke the silence, hopping off of the marble windowsill to come lean against one of the pillars. the pink haired man, ever so interested, hummed questionably. "and what did you want to speak to me about? come on, spit it out." the man said, looking down at philza.
he sighed, glancing up at technoblade. "you've been acting off, mate. less wars are starting, and that's weird for you. i know you also started protecting that one mortal. fuck, what was their name?" he murmured, brows furrowed. technoblade sighed in annoyance, not wanting to be pestered with questions.
"[name]." he answered phil quietly, not bothering to look back at the blond man. the clouds danced with each other in the sky, entertwining and morphing with each other freely. sometimes he wishes he could be as free as the clouds. "you know," phil said, a mischievous glint shining in his eyes. the blood god could only dread what he was going to say. "rumor has it that gods only protect mortals they're interested in."
the teasing, despite only being light hearted, had a quizzical undertone. while technoblade had been acting strange, protecting somebody was something phil had never expected. either something was special about that mortal and their family, or someone had begun fantasizing. he could only hope it wasn't the latter.
with more conversation, technoblade denying any feelings blooming for a human, phil left to go do his job. he was alone with his thoughts, the voices making him tug at his own hair to keep them quiet. they craved the mortal, despite how much he willed himself to stay in his throne room, the man had to go see them.
it was a normal day for you. nothing was different, much less weird. it was only normal, a basket of bread in your hands as you walked home. you hummed as you stepped on the path, enjoying the peaceful walk back to your house. you were content with your life, having a few people and more deaths than you could count.
and see them he would.
you partially blamed philza, the angel of death, for the passing of your loved ones, but you also knew he wasn't the one to kill them. he simply took them to the afterlife, guiding them to where they would spend the rest of their days. the deaths in your family had piled up, mostly from war and some of falling ill.
you spent your days worshipping gods now. you were always the lonely type, choosing to stay by yourself rather than interact with others. you never minded the comforting embrace of being alone, the silence enveloping you at every given moment. it provided you with a sense of comfort you couldn't get anywhere else.
while you did worship other gods, you mostly worshipped technoblade. he was the primary god, you giving up all your offerings to him ─ ranging from bread to trinkets to gold galore. the tales of the blood god, always grand stories with daring adventures that had you on the edge of your seat, had always intrigued you.
your favorite, the one you read the most to the slim amount of people you did contact, was the tale of the butcher army. when he was human, a detail that many didn't know whether to believe or not, he blew up many countries. it hinted at the start of him being the god of war many years later. for punishment, the butcher army hunted him down.
they lied to the man, once they had captured him, in which they had prepared for his execution. some say he died that day, only to be revived due to the gods holy whim; others say he had never died, and broke out of the iron bars to kill the men who had hunted him down. learning about the magnificent god, a god you admired, had faced an army of four and won, allowed you to admire him even further.
once you got home, setting down your basket of bread, you had sighed. you always liked coming home, your safe space filling you with a joy like no other. the everlasting comfort of your home, a familiar place you longed to be at constantly, helped you feel safe. the comforting feeling of being home at last filled you at peace.
until it wasn't so peaceful anymore.
from your kitchen came a clanging noise. there were a few grunts followed afterwards, your eyes wide. fear flooded your system, nervousness coursing through your veins. you stayed silent, hoping you'd either been dreaming or had been imagining sounds. however, once a voice spoke, you knew that was not the case.
from your kitchen came, with his red cape dragging behind him, technoblade. you stammered, confusion replacing your previous nervousness. your grip came loose on the item you were holding, not being able to process what you were seeing. "well this is awkward." the god stated, putting your kitchen utensils he had just knocked down back on your counter.
if anything, this was awkward. very awkward. who expected a god to come through their kitchen window? "uh, do you," you stuttered, voice measily yet you still tried to fight it out. "do you mind telling me why you're here?" it was more than odd to see a god in your kitchen, the sight one hard to believe for even yourself.
technoblade had sighed, draping himself over your couch cushions as if he lived there. his arms, unlike your bare ones, spread across the back of your couch, the sight making you nearly sigh. "well, mortal, i had taken intrest in you." he answered bluntly, your mind still reeling from the fact that he was even here, but taking interest in you? no, this had to be some kind of joke.
the visible confusion highlighting your features made the god chuckle. it was amusing, seeing the looks on mortals' faces whenever something odd or unexplainable happened. "what's so confusing? i took interest in you, and so i came down here to see you." the blood god explained, shrugging his shoulders. the confusion you felt only worsened.
why was the question. why was a god in your house? why had he taken interest in you? you shook your head, suddenly feeling lightheaded. "sorry, i need to sit down." you muttered, trying to regain your footing. you sat down, going slowly as to not pass out in front of him. "so," you spoke up as soon as you had calmed down. "why have you taken interest in me?"
a cloud of silence loomed over the two of you, technoblade falling into his thoughts. why had he taken interest in you? there was no particular shining traits in you, even if he studied you as if you had carved out the world with your own hands; he watched you as if you had brung down a fantastic reign upon everybody.
"who knows?" he wondered aloud, a hum of amusement following his words. technoblade didn't know the reason for it, and despite itching with curiosity, he didn't bother trying to find out. he only let it be, coming to terms with the fact that you, a mortal, had piqued his interest. you kept him entertained, and that's all that mattered.
after the two of you talking more, you still trying to get over the shock that the blood god was in your home, you had to say that he was fairly a nice guy. maybe he was kinder than all of the other ones, however you've never crossed paths with a god either, so you couldn't tell. when technoblade had stood up, braided hair falling against your couch, you knew it was time for him to go.
he turned to look down on you, his towering figure highly intimidating. there was a reason he was feared across nations. he stared at you for a second, maybe deciding on what to say, though you couldn't tell with his blank expression. the man only sighed, wishing you a good day, and then turned to leave.
"you've got me interested, technoblade."
you only spoke to the god more after the first encounter. seconds turned into minutes and then minutes turned to hours. he was an interesting guy, choosing which emotion to show and when to show it. perhaps it came with being a god. as he came by more, each visit surprising you, you only talked to him more.
"as you've got me, [name]."
soon he started telling you stories. the butcher army, the l'manberg war, how he met philza. he told you great things of philza, the angel of death, so much so you nearly stopped disliking philza. you were always interested in his stories though, no matter how long or how action packed. each further lured you in to his grasp.
technoblade, however, had stopped visiting so often. with more conflict arising everyday, he didn't have as much time to visit you anymore ─ philza was starting to catch on as well. how he wasn't home as often or how he lied to philza each time he asked him where he was. he was getting suspicious, and wanted answers quickly.
philza confronted technoblade on this issue a while later. his wings puffed up confidently, he was so sure something was going on with his eldest friends, the edges torn at the seams. "technoblade." he addressed politely, standing in front of his throne once again, as he did not so long ago. he would get answers out of him.
technoblade only sighed, his cheek pressed against his closed fists as he stared at philza. "yes, philza?" he asked, voice heavy with exhaustion. the recent wars, as much as he loved the excitement and panic that came with it, have been too tiring for him. he also couldn't visit you that morning, only pissing him off more.
"have you been seeing the mortal you told me you had interest in?"
silence crashed over the room, violent in its malicious intent. phil's questioned nipped at the blood god, desperately pleading for an answer. philza sighed, one of disappointment and perhaps even anger. the silence was enough of an answer. "mate, are you kidding me?"
technoblade merely sighed, eyes narrowing at the blond. "you have no say on who i take interest in, phil. that is none of your concern." he dismissed the blond, turning back to look at the window. philza had no say in what technoblade done with his life, no matter how long the two have been friends.
"none of my concern? mate, they're a mortal and you're a god! hell, the blood god! for fucks sake, mate, you can't be seeing mortals!" philza snapped, brows furrowed and cheeks red from anger. the trouble a god could get in from seeing a mortal was irredeemable.
if technoblade got caught with the mortal, he would lose not only his titles, but his life. he would be executed.
technoblade merely scoffed however, rolling his eyes. "as if i'll get caught, philza. those laws are stupid anyways. what, are you going to tell on me?" he arched his brows at the angel of death, sneering at him. how dare he barge into his temple and then go off at him; a beloved friend of his.
however, the mortal was too intresting to not keep seeing. he may of even caught feelings. how laughable ─ the blood god, feared across empires, falling for a mere mortal. philza only sighed, rubbing his temples. he weighed his options: technoblade could continue seeing the mortal, get caught, and then both of them get in trouble.
or philza could tell the council. tell them of his affairs, tell them why he hasn't been here as often. once more, a vicious silence swept over them. only for a moment, for philza had declared:
"if you don't stop seeing this mortal, i'll have no choice but to stop it. don't make me do it, mate."
his evening visit was late that night. you had already prepared dinner, setting it up for when he was to arrive. from what he's told you, he hasn't had human food in a long time. he told you that gods didn't need to eat nor sleep. you had decided to make him food for when he comes, wanting him to have food even if he doesn't need it.
the gust of wind from deceiving angel wings swept across his face. messy hair cascaded over his face, and for once, the blood god had found a problem he didn't know he could solve.
ten minutes. twenty minutes. thirty minutes. you sighed at the mocking tick of the clock, each passing second being another sign that he wasn't going to come. perhaps he had better things to do. frowning, you began to gather the food up, knowing you wouldn't eat it all, before the familiar two knocks came at your door.
rushing over, once you had opened it, you were surprised to see something different than you were used to.
technoblade was there, but he looked different. more angry, perhaps even upset.
worried, you frowned at the god. "are you okay?" you asked, hoping the man was alright. the god only nodded, staring at the ground. he came back to you after a moment of silence, sighing. "yes, just got caught up in some things. nothing for you to be concerned of." he said, brushing you off before you could even speak.
when technoblade had gone back to his temple, rubbing his temples with a sigh, something unexpected had greeted him. there was philza, perched on the window with a firm look of coldness. "visiting the mortal again, were you, mate?" he asked once he had came into view. technoblade had half a mind to tell him to fuck off.
that night provided a great distraction from what would come the following days.
no words were spoken from technoblade afterwards. the betrayal of another friend, a promise to do something about his meetings, had wounded him. he didn't want to lose philza, but also had begun to realise something ─ he had caught feelings for the mortal.
for you, who had been the sunshine on his darkest days. call it a cliche, but technoblade truly didn't know happiness if you weren't by his side. having watched countless deaths and falls of kingdoms over the many, many years of being alive, the man had never found as great of a comfort than by your side. you were the sun to his moon, a forever shining force to his immortal darkness.
though the moon and sun are destined to never touch.
that night, philza had technoblade bring him to your house under promise of telling the council. they had shown up to your house late at night, when the world was asleep. it had been abrupt, the two males coming into your home. you were shaking, scared as to what this meant. the angel of death and the blood god inside your home could mean nothing good.
and you were right. that night, that forsaken night, technoblade had been cursed in front of your eyes. the wide eyed look on his face, the shock of what a former friend could do. you tried to reach out for him, but were stopped by philza. he permitted you to stay still, or else your blood would be on your walls.
"technoblade, the blood god and the god of war, i hereby sentence you to an eternity of reincarnation. as long as you are alive, your lover, [name] [last name], will be killed and reincarnated. only ever letting you get close enough to hardly touch them."
your words were caught in your throat, the cruel punishment knocking the wind out of you. philza's eyes shone, bright in an unholy way, rising up with his wings behind him. technoblade had felt the burning sensation of a marking, a forever sign of the curse, on the side of his neck. a flower had been burnt into the side of his neck, your favorite flower.
"i'm sorry, technoblade." were the last words you heard before a sword made of light had stabbed through your stomach.
the blood god had frantically scooped up your body in his arms, panicking for the first time since you've seen him. he tried to get you to say anything, although the words were too hard to say, no matter how hard you tried to get them out. he reassured you would be okay, despite knowing the inevitable would happen.
"you should've listened to him ... heh, you're a dumbass, you know that?"
you took your last breath seconds later.

Green Thumb
Part 2
Request: Yes or No
For anyone confused, (Y/N) was around 17 when he fought the Avengers and was taken in and now he's 18-19. Lowkey a filler to develop/show (Y/N)'s relationship with Laura and Clint
~
You stared up at the large wooden house, a soft breeze blowing by that made you tugged down the sleeves of the sweater you were wearing. Clint turned off the engine of his motorcycle, looking up at you. You furrowed your brows and turned towards him, glancing at the darkening sky.
"What is this place?" You asked, watching him curiously Clint stood beside him, gazing fondly at the house. He looked at you with a gentle smile.
"My home."
"Home?"
"Yep, home. The only other people who know about this place are Fury and Natasha." Clint revealed, making your brows raise. You looked back at the house. It was homey for sure. Far from the city with nature surrounding it. A perfect place to raise a family and live a quiet life. You bit your bottom lip, gently wrapping your arms around yourself.
"So, why’d you bring me here?" You asked. If it was such a big secret that not even Tony or Steve knew about it, why would he share it with you? You weren’t even part of the team. You were just a child that they had to take in. Clint placed a gentle hand on your back.
"You need some fresh air and a break from the shit back at the tower. Come meet my wife and kids." Clint said, walking towards the house. You slowly followed, still unsure about the whole thing. You didn’t know why Clint trusted you so much. Not even a couple weeks back, you had attempted killing him and the Avengers. You had heard Tony mention Clint having a habit of taking in strays so you assumed you were just another person Clint wanted to help. The aroma of food filled your senses, making you let out a soft hum. Clint had heard it, chuckling as he stepped into his home. You followed, noticing the pictures on the walls and scattered drawings.
"Laura, I’m home!" Clint called out into the house, following the light from the kitchen. You noticed some legos laying around, looking up as a woman approached Clint and greeted him with a kiss.
"How was work?" She asked softly, smiling. You could see two kids looking at you curiously from the table. Clint smiled back at his wife, gently stroking her long hair.
"It was fine, honey. I brought a guest." Clint motioned towards you. Laura looked at you, humming softly. Her smile widened as she faced you.
"You must be (Y/N). Welcome to the Barton Farm." Laura giggled softly, placing a hand on her belly. Your gaze dropped down, noticing her barely visible bump. Laura followed your gaze, chuckling softly.
"We’re- Well, more like Natasha is hoping for a little girl." Laura smiled, glancing at Clint when he placed a gentle hand on her bump. She looked back at (Y/N), motioning to the table.
"Come join us."
You walked with Laura to the greenhouse, glancing over at Tony and Steve as they talked.
"How was your first mission?" Laura asked, smiling widely as she gazed at you curiously. You were supposed to go on a mission when your training was complete but nevertheless, it had been quite exciting. You smiled, looking forward.
"It was.. Good. It didn't go as planned, obviously, but there wasn't much of a plan to begin with. Clint's definitely holding a grudge against the runner." You chuckled, opening the door to the greenhouse and stepping inside. Some new flowers had been added.
"I don't blame him." Laura said, giggling as she pulled up a chair. She sat down, letting out a sigh of relief. Laura rested her hands on her belly, watching you with a gentle gaze.
"The girl.. The girl made Hulk lose his shit and made the others see stuff." You told her, picking up a pot with a venus flytrap inside. You gently ran your finger over the plant, watching it open.
"Did she get to you?"
"No, I.. I stopped her before she could do anything to me. Natasha seemed pretty shaken up by what she saw." You looked back at her, frowning softly. You had never seen Natasha look so broken inside. Whatever she had seen, it had definitely triggered some bad memories. You wondered what Wanda would've made you see. The orphanage? The fight with the Avengers?
"Clint mentioned you had to work on your people skills." Laura recalled, laughing softly as she tilted her head. "What's that about?"
"I might've choked.. A few people."
"Might've?" Laura repeated, raising her brows. You placed the pot down, letting out a soft sigh as you stared down at the venus flytrap.
"What's on your mind, sweetheart?" Laura asked softly, noticing the change. You gently pushed the pot back into its spot beside the other plants, shrugging lightly.
"Not that long ago, I was in their spot. Wanda and Pietro.. Two young metas trying to survive. With my powers, I could have seriously injured someone and-"
"But you didn't, did you? We're all standing on this plot of land, living and breathing." Laura stood up from the chair, holding onto it as she regained her balance. She walked towards you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder.
"You were a frightened kid on survival mode. You were doing whatever you could to protect yourself." Laura said, gaze softening.
"Obviously, I could never hurt Thor or Hulk but... I almost crushed and suffocated everyone else. Tony had to work on his suit, Natasha and Clint had bruises for days.. Steve did that weird staring thing like a fucking camera whenever I was in the room." You reached forward, running a finger over the leaf of a plant and watching it grow.
"Look at yourself." Laura motioned to the plants. "You have full control of your powers. You know your limits. You're.. Mother Nature's son! Like, almost literally her son."
"I'm your son." You muttered, keeping your gaze on the plants. Laura stayed quiet, almost frozen in place. She slowly smiled, nodding as she blinked away tears.
"Yeah.. Yeah, you are. You're my son. You're a Barton." Laura said softly, sniffling softly. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I'm gonna go see if Stark is willing to check out the tractor. Holler if you need anything." Laura said, turning around. She left the greenhouse, walking back towards the house. You thought about her words, knowing what she said was true but things could've gone differently if you had been in full control of your powers during the confrontation with the Avengers. Clint had still offered you support despite it all.
You brought your knees close to your chest, hearing the sounds of the Avengers grunting and talking on the floor below. The overgrown vines in the abandoned building wrapped around the corner you were in, providing cover.
"Hey, kid? You up here?"
"Barton, what the hell are-"
"Shut up, Tony." You furrowed your brows, hearing sluggish footsteps on the floor you were at.
"This isn't the greatest hiding spot, kid." The voice, 'Clint', had gotten closer. He was most likely standing infront of you, the vines being the only thing keeping you from seeing him.
"Look, I know you're scared. I know the orphanage probably wasn't great either, but we can help you. I can help you. You can trust me." Clint assured softly. You swallowed, reaching out and touching the vines. They parted, letting you peer up at Clint. He offered a tired smile, extending his hand to you.
"You just made Laura the happiest woman alive." You turned towards Clint, chuckling softly. Clint pushed himself off the doorway, stepping inside.
"Must be nice to finally feel happy for once." You replied, grinning.
"Oh, trust me, you should've seen her face when I proposed." Clint chuckled, looking over the greenhouse. He hummed.
"Maybe I should get into gardening." He muttered, arms crossing as he looked over the different flowers. You watched him.
"You'll be busy with missions."
"I don't plan on sticking around for long, if I'm honest. I want to retire and be with my kids more. The hero life isn't forever for some people. Keep that in mind, (N/N)."
"You're gonna leave the team?" You asked, frowning. You knew Clint had been thinking about it. Especially with a third kid on the way that would come at any moment.
"I got lucky but.. The thought of leaving Laura alone with three young kids, a barely legal adult, and a big plot of land.." Clint sighed, shaking his head as he gently tapped his finger against the table.
"I don't want to be an absent father and miss out on big achievements. I owe it to Laura and you guys." Clint explained softly. You understood. None of the other Avengers were parents yet. Clint dying meant fatherless kids and a widow. He had a lot more to lose.
"I'll always be here if you need advice or more training. I just won't be on the field with you." Clint placed his hands on your shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze before he leaned in and gave you a hug. You hugged him back, eyes shutting. You weren't sure how you'd be on the field without Clint there to support you. Being beside him brought you comfort and reassurance.
"You'll be an amazing Avenger, (Y/N). I know it." Clint whispered, leaning back and smiling softly.
"Will you be my number 1 fan?" You asked with a grin.
"I'm afraid the top three spots are already taken but I'll happily be your fourth biggest fan." Clint laughed softly, turning his head when Laura called for him and you.
"Come on, let's see what the boss wants." He said playfully, turning around and walking out. You followed, noticing Nick Fury standing on the porch. He gave you a nod before entering the house.
"What's he doing here?" You asked, looking at Clint. Clint shrugged, letting out a deep sigh as you walked up the steps.
"We're about to find out."

Anon said: tried to read through all your request rules, but I didnt specifically see which Characters you write for. If you do, could you write for Porco helping his S/o sleep? I have super bad insomnia most days, and I just really want something fluffy with Porco...just cuddles or stories or something. If you dont write for Porco though could you switch it with a AoT character you do write for, I'm not really picky. Thank you so much in advance! 🥺💗
Porco helping you sleep
{Porco x reader | tw:none | sleep help, fluff | canon }
{ "The Night School" C.1660-C.1665 By Gerrit Dou 1613-1675 }
Unmoving shadows cast into the empty white walls, slightly flickering with the flame on the white candle sitting on the nightstand. Half lidded eyes observe their small movements for they're the only interesting thing in this empty hotel room you've been assigned.
Your beige uniform tucked into the small closest with a single hanger inside, the armband hanging on the closest door for easy reach. The squeak of the spring mattress chirping up whenever you moved to flip your too stiff pillow.
Judging by the amount of melted wax collecting on the bottom of the candle, you've been awake for far too long.
This isn't the first time this has happened, you're used to getting acquainted with the room's walls and shadowy furniture.
Sleep has abandoned you long ago, its friend insomnia visiting you daily instead. Only leaving every week or so to remind you of what you could never have, taunting almost.
You've tried to force yourself to sleep really, did every known trick in the book, you even tried mediation like Zeke has been preaching to you about, but to no avail. so you've started making peace with the thing, you know at least using the night time to get things done since you're not getting rest either way.
Books were your first friend, for staring at the walls could only be entertaining for so long, but now with your stash of books miles away back home, you're left with nothing else to do.
The nightstand drawer only contained an emergency gun with several bullets inside, and the pocket knife under your pillow wasn't interesting enough.
Getting up from the bed, you picked up the candle before slowly inching the creaky door open. Maybe a glass of water could help, who cares that this is your third time going for water in the last hour? Well hydration is important after all, or so you tried to bargain for an excuse to stretch your legs.
Attempting your best to glide through the old wooden boards without as much as a squeak, you headed towards the kitchen, passing through several other bedrooms in the process, probably all deep in dream land already.
Everything was too quiet, the sound of water filling the glass was the only thing interrupting the silence, its cool feeling going down your dry throat helped you a bit.
Drinking down what you can, you decided to take the rest with you back, a good excuse for a trip to the bathroom later. Although as you turned, a figure was leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed and staring at you.
"Isn't it too early for breakfast?" Porco said, covering his mouth with his hand as he yawned, "you should get some rest while you can, we're getting thrown in the front trenches tomorrow."
Just the mention of it made your stomach roll at the thought of staying in a muddy hole for days, the smell of gunpowder and yelling of soldiers, not to mention the crowded train rides back home.
"I know, it's just…" you stared at the water moving inside your glass while tilting it, "one of those days, you know?"
eyes narrowing with his eyebrows pulling down in concentration, even Porco's sleep clouded mind could recognise the heavy bags under your eyes. The ride here used all of your energy and now you're too tired to even sleep.
Feeling an unpleasant weight on his chest, he wasn't sure what to say as he approached you, awkwardly leaning against the sink, a heavy sigh left him.
"You know, you should bother me more often, I don't mind it." His gentle tone was followed by a melancholic smile, "let's just...go to bed."
With that his hand wrapped around your wrist, loosely at first like he was reluctant about it, before it got more secure once you didn't pull away.
…
The old door gave out a creek as it closed behind you, the room dimmer than you left it with the candle you're carrying almost burning out.
Looking at the small bed with a single pillow, you wondered how the two grown people would fit in it and judging by the frustrated look Porco was eyeing it with, he must be thinking the same.
Looking at him, your mind wondered back to all the battles you've fought together. For some reason the superiors always seemed more strick and harsh with him, especially after the paradise mission was launched.
Belitting and nagging, carelessly throwing him in risky situations.
Your grip tightened around the water glass, feeling growing thickness in your throat. "Hey...it's okay you can go to your room, you need sleep." You said moving past him to sit on the bed, "I'll be fine."
"Should've thought of that before waking me up, now scoot over." He said, rising an eyebrow and stepping closer.
"I didn't wake you up, you're just a light sleeper." Laying down, you stretched your limbs filling the bed, "there's no room, it won't fit."
Silence filled the room for a while, you could feel his eyes roaming over you, "Oh really? Well…"
One second, you were laying on the mattress while staring at his stubborn expression in confusion, the next a pair of arms was lifting you up as he stole your place before dropping you on him. His arm circled your waist not trusting that you won't pull away
"I made it fit." he looked at you with smugness in his eyes
His warm skin felt comforting against yours, contrasting with the cold room air, you could hear his slowing heartbeat with being so close to his chest, your legs slowly tangling to fit under the blanket covering you.
Apparently that's as far as his genius plan went, because after that an awkward silence filled the room.
"So...you made it fit huh?" You couldn't help but say, a grin slowly spreading on your face.
Porco blinked in response, tilting his head, before his eyes stilled as his ears flushed. "Fucking god, you're such a-" his attempt to scold you was interrupted by a chuckle escaping mid-sentence.
Having a contagious laugh, soon enough you too joined him.
After it died down, the atmosphere was replaced by a much more relaxed one as his hold on you softened, more intimate than the previous one.
"When I was a kid, i used to have trouble sleeping- well more like i was too stubborn to fall asleep." Porco said, trailing his finger up your back soothingly, "and since Marcel was stuck sharing a room with me, he'd tell me stories to get me to fall asleep."
"What kind of stories?"
"...if you tell this to anyone I'm reporting you to the higher ups you for treason, they were flower stories." Clearing his throat, you could feel his heartbeat rising under you,
Closely watching your reaction, Porco continued after some seconds. "now I'm not calling you a kid nor do i think it's as simple, i just think...we should give it a chance."
With the heaviness of the blanket above you and warmth of his body underneath you, it was hard to refuse his request, especially with the way he looked at you so earnestly.
You agreed, and felt his other hand reach to pull up the blanket more, tucking you protectively between his body and the soft fabric.
"This first one is called...well i don't remember what names Marcel gave them, but it's about poppies."
Crimson red bringers of eternal sleep, their crumbled petals and dark centers often found in the ancient tombs of soldiers.
As the mother of nature, Demeter, mourned and grieved from the betrayal of Zeus, it wasn't only the mortal realm in which death loomed at every corner, for her own mind was a tormenting prison of never ending suffering.
And so a droplet of her blood sprang and flourished to create a six petaled flower, easing her heartache if only for a moment as the poppy put her to sleep, numbing the pain.
Following in her trail was a red carpet of poppies, soon enough death and sleep themselves wore the flower, red crowns resting on top of Thanatos's held up head and one almost slipping from Hypnosi's leaning one as he dozed off. for eternal sleep was only another name for visiting the underworld.
A symbol of peace in resting and condolence for the loss of a loved one, became the poppy's role.
"This is why you'd often see them in people's front pockets whenever we return home." Porco said, the light slowly vanishing from the room as the candle burned itself out, the flame snuffed.
You've never questioned why a delivery of poppies would always be on the requirements in each returning celebration, it's just always been there.
Slow and easy breathes flew through you, lazily stretching your arms up till it met something soft. Porco seemed to tense as your fingers loosely combed through his hair, leaning into the touch after a while.
"Don't stop." He murmured, sleep clear in his voice as another yawn left him.
"Do you have any other stories?" Drowsiness sweeping through your mind, you buried your hed deeper against his neck, eyelids fluttering shut.
"Yeah just…" his hand stilled from behind you as he looked into space attempting to recall a memory, soon enough the soft stroking returned. "This one is about peony."
Named after none other than Paeon himself, these flowers lived up to their reputation of healing and honour, for they have their own story to tell.
How the peony came to be declared king of flowers.
During the Tang dynasty, empress Wu Zetian strolled through her garden. Frowning at the empty field of green covered in thick white blankets of snow, the harsh season not showing mercy for the plants.
With a new goal in mind to flip this dreadful looking graveyard of a garden, she set to defy nature for she is the ruler of the land and her word is law.
Per her majesty's order, all flowers shall bloom in the midst of winter's visit.
As the word travelled far, all the fairies in the land couldn't believe their ears, how could such delicate fragile petals grow amidst the storm and snow. For flowers only bloom in spring, how could we go against mother nature?
While merciless mother nature was cruel, she couldn't compare for the empress's strong rule. For the fairies feared for their wings as their knees shook in her presence.
When the sun shined again, it welcomed colourful fields of different flowers in full bloom. The empress was pleased with their sweet smell and proud colours, each one rivaling the other.
And yet, she stood still near one flower bed, eyes wide. The peony deified her words and stubbornly refused to open, only sticks and brittle leaves left in their place.
In a fit of rage, the empress banished the flower to a far away city, striping away their status.
Living up to their stubborn nature, the peony bloomed that spring the most beautiful flowers humans have ever seen, turning the city of Luoyang into a heavenly soft land as their petals danced through the wind.
But their beauty couldn't last long, for a hungry fire swallowed them all, under the order of the empress who turned their green to coal.
And yet to everyone's surprise, when the earth circled the sun again, the peonies were back in bloom. Springing from the ashes were their mesmerising big petals and soft colours.
In their respect, the fairies crowned them for their bravery as the ruler of the flowers, for wasn't it for their sacrifice the flowers wouldn't have been freed.
"They stayed on the right way, even if it meant going against the world." Porco's slurred words were half muffled against the pillow, head buried in it, his eyelids seemed to get too heavy for him to force them open again.
Turning his head to the side, you felt his lips press a light kiss against your forehead before whispering a goodnight, his hold still comfortably secure around you as if you might slip away.
Soon enough, you too drifted into sleep as only his soft snoring filled the room. The moon watching over both of you through the windows as her light barely reached inside.
And at this instant, you didn't think there was anywhere else in the world you'd rather be. Thoughts of what the future holds were pushed to the back of your mind next to the past, for the present is now and what a waste it would be not to bask in these rare moments of peace in this horrible world

Too Late - 1
Masterlist
Summary: You arrived with Steve Murphy in Colombia to assist in the war against Escobar, both of you are partnered with Javier Peña. The tall, dark and handsome DEA agent has a reputation for being Colombia’s Casanova but you soon learn there’s more to him than meets the eye. You realise too late… that you’re in love with him.
Pairings - Javier Peña x Reader
Warnings - Smut, Angst, Blood and Injury
§
‘Fuck.’ You growled as Javier snapped his hips into you, sucking and biting your neck as he fucked you.
You'd let your head fall back against his shoulder as his free hand snaked down your stomach, thick fingers languidly rubbing your clit as his length hit that spot inside you over and over. It didn’t take long for you to cum, screaming his name as he thrust his hips half a dozen more times before filling you with his cum, growling against your skin.
‘Fuck Javi.’ You whined, chest heaving as you turned your head to give him a lazy kiss ‘You should wake me like that every morning.’
‘Happily.’ He replied with a smile, thrusting himself deep inside of you a few more times before he finally pulled out and slipped out of the bedroom.
He returned a few minutes later with a damp cloth that he then handed to you before lighting a cigarette for you both, handing one of them to you when you tossed the soiled fabric into the wash basket across from you.
‘How long do we have till we need to leave?’ You asked before you took a toke of your smoke.
‘We have an hour and a half before we need to head out. Plenty of time if want to shower Caríno.’ He stated as he stubbed his spent cigarette into the ashtray on his bedside table.
You showered as he cooked breakfast, the two of your making the usual small talk as you ate your bacon and eggs and sipped on your coffee. You were both so domesticated, it was easy to be around Javier, to do things like this but you’d sworn to yourself that you wouldn't let yourself get hurt again and with Javier’s reputation... there was a good chance he’d hurt you.
When you'd finished your breakfast you cleared the table and washed the dishes as Javi showered and changed, giving him a warm smile as he emerged from his bedroom clean-shaven and hair still dripping. The knock at his door pulled your attention away from him and when you answered it you were greeted by Steve, the blonde rolling his eyes when he saw you.
‘You two need to figure out whatever the fuck this is!’ He stated as he pointed between the two of you, rolling his eyes again when you shrugged.
‘It’s just sex, Murphy.’ You replied nonchalantly ‘Peña’s the eternal bachelor and I have an itch that he can scratch. Simple as that.’
You didn't notice the hurt that flashed across Javier’s face, the anguish in his eyes at how easily you'd brushed off Steve’s statement. You’d been sleeping together casually for some time now, the arrangement starting after one particularly heavy night out at the local bar with Steve and his wife Connie. You’d opened up about how you’d relished the opportunity to come to Colombia after coming home one day to your, then, fiancé balls deep in your maid of honour. You’d decided then that you were going to swear off love, every relationship you’d ever had, had ended in heartbreak and so you swore to never love again. That first night with Javier had been mind-blowing. He’d made you cum with his mouth and his fingers three times before finally gifting you with what you'd wanted and then he’d brought another two out of you again before you were left limp and sated on his bed. Following that night, it had become a regular thing, almost 3 nights a week you either stayed at his or vice versa, ate food together, had a few drinks and fucked before falling asleep in each other's arms. What you were oblivious to was what was going on with Peña behind closed doors. He no longer slept with anyone but you, no one could compare. He didn’t sleep the nights you were apart, no matter how much whisky he consumed or how many times he fucked his hand to the thoughts of being buried inside you. Javier Peña had fallen for you and he couldn’t stop, every casual fuck killing him a little more each time and leaving him in agony. Steve had caught the look that flickered across his partner's face but chose not to bring it up, he knew that Javier would deny his feelings for you until he was blue in the face. The two of you were as stubborn as each other.
‘Carillo wants us to meet him at base first thing.’ Stated Steve, changing the subject completely as he followed Javi down the stairs towards his Jeep.
‘You reckon La Quica and Poison will be there or?…’
‘Intel says they will be.’ Stated Javier as he opened the driver’s door and hopped inside ‘It’s going to be minimal guys though. Too many men will draw attention to us.’
He fires the plan at you and Murphy as he drives to Carillo’s base of operations, the colonel waiting eagerly for you all as Javier parked up outside. He informed you of the particulars as you kitted yourselves up, hopping then into one of the military vehicles that are waiting patiently to take you to one of Escobar’s labs. The drive wasn't too long, the lab sitting a little way out of Bogota on the outskirts of the jungle. It was a clever place to position a lab, the three provided enough coverage that it was hard to tell from areal photos whether the building was abandoned or not but after a tip from a prostitute that La Quica frequented with, they'd learned the location of this particular lab that they had then scoped for several weeks before organising the raid that was about to take place. As you all hopped out of the vehicles and crept towards the building, you felt your excitement growing that the thought that you might possibly capture two of Escobar's top sicarios that day. It would be a huge blow to Pablo.
‘You and Peña will go in through the back with Trujillo and Garcia, Murphy will enter through the front with me.’ Stated Carillo as you all lined up against the building, guards completely oblivious to your presence.
‘Let’s go.’ Stated Javier as he motioned for you, Trujillo and Garcia to follow him towards the rear of the building.
He crept in slowly, gun raised in front of him, breaths coming out steady and even as he made his way inside. Music was blaring from the lab, masking their presence perfectly and hiding the sound of Javier’s gun going off as a guy walking unwittingly into his path.
‘Upstairs.’ He said as he pointed up and made his way towards the beaten up staircase.
‘Trujillo, you and Garcia take those rooms.’ He ordered as they came to a stop on the landing ‘We’ll take those rooms down there.’ He finished as he motioned to you with his eyes.
Trujillo nodded, ordering Garcia to follow him before you followed Javier down the narrow hallway, buzzing from the adrenaline that pumped through your veins. Peña cleared the first room, stepping carefully towards the next and clearing that one also. He looked at you over his shoulder as he made this way to the final room at the end of the hall, lips parted slightly as he slipped through the open doorway. It happened so fast you barely had enough time to register what had occurred. Javier was knocked to the ground as a loud pop filled the air, pushing you to sprint into the room where you managed to catch sight of La Quica before you heard a bang and you too were knocked off of your feet. As the haze started to clear, you turned your head to see Javi laying there looking at you with a concerned expression plastered across his face. Everything was so fuzzy but after blinking a few times your vision started to clear and you noticed that he was clutching his belly, blood slipping through his fingers as he tried, and failed, to keep the precious liquid inside him.
‘Javi.’ You choked as you tried to push yourself up, letting out a yell as the movement led to a stabbing pain erupting in your skull.
‘Stay still Hermosa.’ He said, holding his free hand out so that he could hold yours.
‘Javi you’re hit.’ You sob, looking at him with sad eyes.
‘I’ll be okay.’ He replied, letting out a wet laugh as blood painted his lips.
‘FUCK.’ Yelled Steve as he sprinted into the room ‘TRUJILLO!.’ He screamed as he dropped to Javier’s side and put pressure on his gushing wound.
A blood-curdling scream spilt from Peña's lips and made your blood run cold, your eyes locked with his as blood started to spill from his mouth like a bath that was overflowing.
‘We need medical support now.’ He barked at someone over you ‘Trujillo, put pressure on her head wound and keep her awake.’
You felt something soft press against the side of your head and you let out a pained cry, momentarily scrunching your eyes shut before opening them again so that you could return your gaze to Javier. His eyes were starting to dull, lids dropping as he gradually lost the fight to remain conscious. You could see it with each gargled breath that he took that he was slipping away. That he was dying.
‘Stay with me Javi.’ Pleaded Steve, his voice breaking as Javier started to choke on the blood that filled his mouth which caused it to spurt from his mouth violently 'Fuck.' Breathed Steve as he cupped his partner's cheek, desperately fighting the tears that pricked his eyes.
‘Please.’ You pleaded as you felt the edges of your vision start to grey ‘Stay with me.’ You whispered before everything went black.
~
The first thing you were aware of was a constant beep. It rang in your ears as you used to pull yourself closer to the surface of consciousness. The next thing you were aware of was a dull ache that soaked your body, leaving you feeling heavy.
‘You with me?’
The voice sounded far away but you knew who it was. Steve. He repeated his question a few moments later only this time it was clearer and you realised that you were able to twitch your fingers in response. Murphy watched as you fought to regain consciousness, your body jolting as different sensations and capabilities returned to you. When you finally cracked open your eyes he breathed a sigh of relief, leaning forward and grabbing your hand as he let out a choked sob.
‘Why you being a cry baby?’ You mumbled with a smirk, not recognising your own voice.
‘Shit… We almost lost you bug.’ He replied, wiping his tears with the back of his free hand as you processed what he told you ‘You were shot in the head.’ He elaborated, sniffing as he sat back in his chair ‘You had a bleed on your brain. You've been in a coma for two weeks.’
‘What happened?’ You asked as you tried to remember the events that brought you here, the memories blurred.
‘We raided the lab.’ He started, leaning forward on his elbows ‘You and Javi were taken by surprise...’
That's when it hit you. You remembered seeing Javier fall, La Quica shooting you before slipping out and then the memory shifted to Javi clutching his stomach as he bled out beside you.
‘Javi!’ You exclaimed as your eyes grew wide ‘Where is he? Is he okay?’ Your voice sped up as your panic rose within, only increasing when you saw the expression on Steve’s face.
‘He uh… He took a bullet to the gut.’ Steve started and his voice wobbled ‘He was in surgery for hours. They did everything they could to save him. He was put into a coma, placed on life support but his injuries were just too severe... He died a few days ago.’ Steve finished, tear-stained, blue orbs locking with yours.
‘No.’ You sob, shaking your head as you tried to process what you’d been told ‘No you're lying.’
‘I was there, Bug.’ He stated ‘I watched as they tried to shock him back to life. I held his hand as they stated the time of death.’ He paused, tears streaming down his cheeks ‘I watched as they loaded his body onto a plane to Texas.’
You scream. The sound made Steve’s blood run cold as he watched your body start to shake and your heart monitor started to blare. The room then suddenly flooded with nurses as they tried to calm you down, muttering in Spanish how it wasn’t good for you to get worked up but you couldn’t listen to them, you could only hear Steve’s voice inside your head.
‘He’s not dead.’ You said as you started to shake your head ‘He wouldn’t leave me. He wouldn’t do that to me.’ You continued, your denial breaking Steve’s heart ‘He wouldn’t leave me.’ You wail ‘He’s not dead. He can’t be.’ You break down then, fat tears rolling down your cheeks as Steve leapt to his feet and pulled you into his arms.
‘He left us both Bug.’ He said as he placed a soft kiss on the crown of your head 'I've got you.' He said as he attempted to soothe your cries.
‘He can’t be dead.’ You sob, your stomach aching ‘I didn’t tell him I love him.’ You hiccupped ‘I never got to tell him that I love him.’
~
‘She hasn’t moved from his bed in three days Con.’ Said Steve under his breath as his eyes drifted from you to his wife ‘She barely eats or drinks, she just lays there hugging his shirt. I don’t know what to do.’
‘She’s grieving Steve.’ Said Connie softly ‘We all are but… it hurts her more because she loved him. You need to give her time.’
‘I don’t think she’s processing this.’ He stated, eyes flitting to you quickly ‘She talks to herself but I think she thinks she’s talking to him. She’s scaring me.’
‘She was shot in the head and the man she loved died Steve.’ Growled Connie ‘We all deal with grief differently. You need to give her time to heal and come to terms with her loss.’ She continued as she placed a comforting hand on his arm ‘I’ll go sit with her for a while. You got out and get us something for dinner.’
Steve simply nodded, scrubbing a hand over his tired face before he grabbed Javier’s keys and sprinted out the door, desperate to leave. Connie watched you for a moment, noting that you were talking to yourself but your eyes were staring off into the distance.
‘Hey, Hunny.’ She said softly as she stepped inside ‘You hungry? Can I get you anything?’
‘We’re fine thanks.’
‘We?’
‘Javi and Me.’ You reply plainly, smiling at nothing.
‘Sweetie Javi’s gone. Do you remember?’
Your eyes widened and you looked at Connie, pain seeping into your features and you pulled Javier’s shirt closer into yourself, letting out a pained cry.
‘Right… Yes…’ You mumble ‘He’s gone.’ You paused as you curled up tighter ‘Javi’s gone.’
Connie’s brow furrowed with concern as she perched herself on the bed, placing a friendly hand on your hip as she watched you retreat into yourself again. She knew you were in denial, unable to accept that Javier was no longer around but she also knew that acceptance would come with time. They just had to be patient.
~
You saw him everywhere you looked. Every inch of his apartment or yours was tainted with memories of him. You and the Murphy’s had been allowed to fly to Texas for the funeral. You’d held Chucho as he laid his son to rest, then he’d held you as you dropped to your knees, begging for Javi to come back to you. It was another three weeks before you’d been allowed to return to work, stuck on desk duty until the shrink you’d been assigned decided that you were ready to return to the field. On your first day back you'd spend most of the morning staring at his desk, his typewriter sat perfectly in the middle and surrounded by files, a glass ashtray filled with cigarette butts sat on top of some.
‘We should probably get someone to clear this all up.’ Said Steve as he noticed what you were looking at.
‘No.’ You blurted out ‘No, we can’t.’
‘Bug he’s not coming back.’ Stated Steve ‘Keeping his desk as it is isn’t going to change that.’
‘I know that.’ You spat, venom dripping from every word ‘I get it… He’s dead. I should move on or whatever but I can’t Steve.’ You pause, noticing Murphy’s shocked expression ‘I see him everywhere I look. I roll over and there he is, looking back at me with his warm brown eyes. I feel him with me. His lips on my neck, his hands on my waist. I can’t erase the feel of him and it’s killing me.’
You pull out a cigarette, growling when you struggle to light it before Steve’s appears, the flame igniting the tip before you nodded your head in thanks.
‘He died never knowing how I truly felt.’ You continued, eyes locking with Steve’s ‘That morning. You remember what I said?' Steve shook his head 'I said that he was just scratching an itch but that wasn’t true at all. He owns me… body and soul and I just can’t… I can’t…’
Steve pulls you into his arms as you cry ‘I know you miss him Bug.’ He said softly ‘I miss him too. More than I can put into words but we need to accept that he’s gone. Perhaps you should think about transferring back to the States.’ You looked up at him in shock at this statement ‘You’re never going to be able to move on if you’re surrounded by his memory.’
You know he’s right but it doesn’t stop you from feeling hurt by his suggestion. Were you really that useless now? Had Javier dying rendered you ineffective in the fight against Escobar? You watched as Steve left, two mugs in hand to fetch you and he a top-up and it gave you some time to think. Perhaps you should leave. Afterall... There was nothing left for you now.

Truth Is
Chapter 1: A Night Many Months Ago
Frankie "Catfish" Morales x F!reader
Summary: When reuniting for the mission in Colombia, Frankie and the reader (nicknamed "Chipmunk"), bicker due to their rocky past. After some angry exchanges, a few truths come out, changing both of their perspectives. Will the relationship be mended? Or once this is over, will they go back to the way things were before?
Word Count: 3K
Warnings: explicit language, blood, violence, guns/weapons, lots of angst and emotions, infidelity, talk of sex and sexual encounters, drinking, mentions of drugs, talk of death, and talk of mental health(PTSD, depression).
A/N: This was inspired by the song "Truth Is" by Sabrina Claudio. I want to make this a series (my first series ever), but it's still being decided, so please let me know if you want this to be continued! And I am still taking requests and prompts! Thanks Lovelies <3
"Cmon, please Chip, we can't do this without you." Santiago begged, his hands clasped together in front of him to show his desperation as he stood before me in my small apartment kitchen. I sighed, glancing around our surroundings. He had come to ask about joining one last escapade, one last job and we'd all be set for the rest of our lives.
Finally breaking the silence and meeting his weary gaze, "Who all have you rounded up? If Will or Benny said no, there's no way I'm doing it without them." I took another deep breath, turning to continue the dishes I had been doing when Pope showed up.
Santi's face began to light up, his stance growing slightly as he grinned, "Great! They both wanted in, so did Tom." Seeming relieved he leaned against the counter next to the sink and crossed his arms.
"And F-Fish?" I hesitated, pausing the scrubbing on the porcelain dish in my hand. It felt like the air in my lungs no longer existed. My heart began to pound it's way up my throat and into my ears.
His head dipped down, feeling the concern laced in my voice. Clearing his voice, he quietly explained "Haven't asked him yet, he was last on my list."
I silently placed the last dish onto the rack near the sink and wiped my wet hands on my jeans, looking down and watching the wet marks gradually making themselves known. No longer forcing myself to make eye contact, I nodded at the ground.
"Look, querida, if you two just talked I'm sure it would work out." He pushed himself off the counter and stepped towards me, reaching a hand out and gently rubbing my shoulder to console me. "But don't let this change your mind, we really do need you."
"When are you going to mention it to him?" I breathed out, wanting to keep any and all emotions at bay. His hand on my arm squeezed, as if he was trying to give me some courage.
"Tonight, at Benny's fight, I thought his spirits would be up enough to persuade him." He chuckled lightly, knowing his plan was to take a little bit of advantage of Frankie's mood.
I laughed softly, "Definitely sounds like a Santi move if you ask me."
He smirked and shook his head "I know, shame on me." As he dropped his hand back to his side he quirked, "You should come tonight, we can go out for drinks after the fight, relax a little before we leave tomorrow."
It took me a second to register what he said, but when I did I burst out "wait what?! Tomorrow? Santi, why didn't you tell me that? You forgot the biggest detail!"
He cowered down slightly, rubbing the back of his neck "Because I knew you'd yell at me, it was worth a shot putting off the anger a little longer." He smiled coyly.
Rolling my eyes I couldn't help but forgive his dumb smile. "Well it starts soon, why don't I get my things real quick and we can head to the arena together?"
His smile widened, "Of course!" I grabbed my purse and keys, making sure to turn off the lights and lock the door behind me. As we made our way down the elevator and out to his car, Santi told me a few details about the missions and the plan. But once we got into his rinky dink ford truck, I turned to him.
"About Frankie, I'm sure one of the boys told you, but just in case; his license was revoked." Santi's face contorted with confusion.
"What? How? Did he crash or hurt somebody?" He questioned quickly.
After taking a breath of courage I spoke, "No Pope. He-He was caught with coke."
Santi stayed quiet, turning the engine on. "I don't get it" A sad expression plastered on his face.
With a furrow in my brow I spoke again, "What don't you get? He was doing drugs, hardcore ones at that". I began to ramble more, "For what reason, I'm not sure, maybe the PTSD and depression. Maybe he felt he had no one to go to-"
"Stop. I know." He cut me off while finally shifting the gear into drive and moving up forward. "You can't blame anyone for this. All we can do is move on and help him. He's our friend, okay? But I know he's still the same Fish, just a little turned around."
"I know, okay. I can't help it. From what the boys told me, he seems to be a lot better." I added, stirring in my seat. "Anyways, it's been awhile since all of us have been back together. It's exciting."
Santi snickered, "But didn't you all hang out while I've been out of the U.S.?"
Seeing that we're close to the arena's parking garage I explained, "I mean, yea, but only me, Ironhead, Benny and Fish. I haven't talked to Redfly in months, we all had a fallout with him. Especially me."
"Tom didn't say anything when I talked to him, Do you wanna fill me in?" He asked with a quirked eyebrow.
Huffing, I turn to face him, telling him the events of that night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The four of us, the Millers, Frankie and I sat on my couch, watching TV and talking, when we hear a bang at the door. I got up to open it and find Tom slumped on the doorway. He looked rough and smelled like he had been drinking the past several days. "Woah, Tom, you're really drunk, and you drove here?"
He snapped, beginning to yell, "Who are you to judge me? Huh? My wife left me, this is how I cope." He angrily pushed his way past me and tumbled into the living room. He was greeted with the boys standing around him with concerned faces.
"What the hell were you thinking? You know how dangerous that is? You know you could've called and we would've been there for you!" I raised my voice back, causing Tom to swing around to face me.
He laughed darkly, "Oh shut up 'Miss Perfect,' just like you did for Fish? When he was nose deep in coke? Or are you too self obsessed? Or do you just have favorites!"
"Hey man, that's not cool." Will interrupted and tried to get a handle on Tom. Frankie lowered his head in embarrassment. Will reached forward and placed a hand on his back, but things escalated more.
"Oh okay, yea protect the whore, we all know she's there for you guys more than just talking. I wouldn't doubt it if you all fucked her too. But me? Nah, you leave me out of everything." Tom howled, yanking away from Will and slurring his words and no longer making sense.
Anger becoming more prominent, I spoke, "Seriously?! Whore?! How is it my fault that you push us away and don't let us help? We include you in everything, but you have your head so far stuck up your ass you never show up!" I've come face to face with him, my hot breath and voice blowing into his face above me. "And another thing, I'm not a whore, you asshole, I'm with Frankie!"
He leaned closer to me, his breath reeking of alcohol, "Just him? Does he know where you're at everyday Monday and Wednesday at 1?! I doubt it!"
Frankie speaks up, "What? What is he talking about?" A devilish smirk makes its way to Tom's face.
"Nothing, I swear it's nothing." I try to explain, making eye contact with my partially hurt lover.
"Tell him, tell him you've been seeing a 'Dr. Philips.' Go on, do it." He rubs it in.
Looking behind Tom, I saw Frankie looking like his world had just shattered. "You've been seeing someone?!"
Panicking, I speak, "Yes, but it's not what you think, I promise!"
"Then what is it?" Tom adds, stumbling back a foot and crossing his arms contently at the damage he just caused.
Benny spoke up, knowing the truth about who I was "seeing." "You need to leave man, you have no right to say shit like that. You don't know the real situation"
Tom burst, yelling "I want her to admit it! I want her to admit that she isn't the perfect bitch she makes herself out to be!"
"Fuck you! Get the hell out of my house!" I scream, tears slightly welling in my eyes. "Frankie-" I turn to him, but to find him grabbing his things. "Baby please, let me explain."
"Explain what? You've been cheating on me?" his voice is loud, and cracks slightly.
A tear breaks its way down my cheek, "I haven't, Frankie, please believe me." I grab his hand, trying to stall his movements, but he pulls away.
"You just admitted it!" He frowns and yanks his hand away and heads for the door.
"That's right Fishie boy! Leave her, she's no good anyway!" Tom squawks as Benny grabs a hold of him and shoves him to the door, Will right behind to help.
"You bastard!" I lunged forward and swung my hand, landing right on the side of his face with a loud crack. Frankie spun around, startled at my actions.
The action only fueled Tom's anger because he ripped away from Benny's grip and grabbed me. I didn't back down and started to shove him and swing my arms, hitting him in the face and chest as he fought back.
But just as quickly as the fight started, it ended. Frankie tore me off of Tom, pinning me to his chest and stopping my brutal hits. Will and Benny wrested Tom into submission and dragged him out of the front door as he yelled slurs at me, and dumped him outside with a battered face.
While the brothers were dealing with a drunk Redfly, Frankie scolded and verbally fought with me.
"Just tell me! Who is Dr. Philips!" He questioned, slightly shaking me by the shoulders.
With many emotions running through my head, I couldn't process what was going on. "I-I can't, Frankie, I can't even admit it to myself." Tears streaming down my face I brought my hands up to the sides of his face. "But you have to believe me, por favor (please)."
Francisco looked like he was fighting an emotional battle in his mind. He finally spoke, "Either you tell me, or I leave, I can't do this, not if you keep things from me."
Feeling my heart break, I whispered "Please, mi amor (my love), don't make me. I'm not strong enough." My eyes now running like an open faucet and my hands tightly pressed to his cheeks.
He blinks away tears, reaching his hands up to grab mine and pull them away from his face, "Then I have to go." He drops my hands and turns to leave.
"Por favor no me dejes! (Please don't leave me)" I call after him, watching as he heads out of the door and into the night, leaving me alone. I drop to the floor, tears blurring my vision and all that can be heard are my sobs.
After what feels like hours, Will and Benny return, picking me up off the floor and taking me to my bed. They lay me down, attempting to help my emotional breakdown. They pick up whatever mess that was left after the event of that night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~end flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"And after that night, Tom was no longer invited anywhere with us. Frankie distanced himself and refused to talk to me. But Will and Benny did their best to be there for me in any way they could. They did the same for Frankie. But as for Tom, they casted him out, because he changed, badly." I finished covering the story of that night, fighting the tears that threatened to spill. "And the Dr. Philips I was seeing, was my therapist. I didn't want anyone to know I wasn't okay mentally. I was embarrassed and part of me didn't want to admit I needed help. The lives we chose aren't easy."
Santi parked, and seemed shocked, "I'm sorry love, I knew you split with Fish, but didn't know any details or about Tom." He reached over and patted my thigh sympathetically. "I really am sorry that you went through all of that because Tom was an asshole. You really don't have to do this-"
"No I want to, I'm in a better place, so is everyone else." I smiled shyly, wanting to lift the spirits. "So what do you say? Let's go wrangle up our boys and get rich?"
Pope smiled brightly, "Hell yes!" We both got out of the car, and headed to the back of the arena and knocked, hoping Will was there to open it like he told Santi he would. Much to our luck, the door swung open to reveal a tall, smiling, blonde Miller brother.
"Brother!" Santi chuckled as he pulled the eldest Miller into a hug, clapping each other on the back. They pulled away as Pope headed inside to find the others.
"Hey pretty girl, long time no see." Will joked, hugging me tightly.
I scoffed, "Will, you were just at my house last night." We both laughed and he led me into a rank smelling locker room, which I assumed was for Benny to get ready. As we rounded the corner, I saw Benny and Tom chatting on one of the benches between the lockers.
"Chipmunk!" Benny roared as he ran over, picked me up and spun me around. "I missed you! I'm so glad you could make it!" He sat me back down and stepped back to sit on the bench again.
"Of course, I wouldn't miss you getting your ass beat for the world!" I giggled as I winked at him, showing the younger of us a bit of love.
He shook his head with a grin. As my eyes left him, they met with the eyes of Tom. He seemed to have a look of regret, trying to give me a sad smile.
I walked over to him, reaching my hand in a fist forward, lightly tapping his shoulder, "Hey fly, how you been?"
A small wave of relief washed over him as he responded "I'm good Chip, how are you? And look I'm really sorry, I wasn't in a good place and I regret-"
"Its okay Tom, really, it is. I'm just glad you're better. It's water under the bridge." I sit next to him and pat his back, showing that all, or at least most, is forgiven.
He nods slowly, "Thank you, it means a lot that you're here."
"Oh cmon you have to admit it, you couldn't do it without me, the best there is." I pretend to act over confident and burst into laughter. And Tom joins in.
As Tom and I begin to catch up, talking about what we've missed these past several months, I overhear a conversation.
"Hermano (brother)! How are you?" Santi greets Frankie, I assume, he was the last of us, who wasn't already here. When I realize that it is him, my heart begins to race. My skin starts to burn and get hot, my palms becoming sweaty.
"Pope! Benny! Ironhead! What is this, a reunion?" Frankie's voice echoes as they come closer. As the three round the corner, "All we need is Redfly and Chip-" Frankie stops as we become revealed to him. Tom gets up immediately and struts over to give Fish a hug. Frankie's face lights up with glee and hugs him back. When they step away from each other, I wearily stand up and all he does is give an awkward smile and nods in my direction.
Benny attempts to whisper to Santi, "Ouch, that's cold." And Santi jabs him in the stomach with his elbow, causing him to double over and make a "hmf" sound.
Being slightly hurt, I break the uneasy tension by opening an invitation, "Alright well I'm gonna go get a beer and find us some good seats, it's close to showtime!" Faking a smile I continue, "Who's coming?"
"Me, I can't be in here with this doofus anymore." Will chuckle as he ruffles Ben's hair and follows right behind me.
When we make it to the concession stand and order beers, Will taps my arm, "How are you feeling?"
With a sigh, "Honestly I expected that, but it hurt more when it actually happened. But what can I say." I grab out drinks from the concession worker and thank her and turn on my heels to find a seat. "I love him, and if that means waiting to mend things, it worth it, even if it means waiting forever."
Will offers a sympathetic grin. "It'll work, just watch. Oh! Over there! Perfect seats!" He points as his attention was caught by an opening near the rink. He pursues it as I follow behind.
While we sit, we joke around, waiting for the rest of the gang to come sit and watch Benny get thrown around. Finally the last three show up and sit with us, Tom sat on Will's right side, me on his other side, Santi on my left, but when Frankie walks up, he bends down and whispers to Santi, causing him to scoot further away from me and leaving room for Frankie to slot himself between us. Which took me by surprise. Once he was seated, he glanced over to me and gave me a genuine smile.
We don't say a word as the lights begin to dim and the announcer's voice breaks through the speaks, introducing our dear Benny and his opponent.
Our small group starts to cheer and scream Benny's name, to show him support. As he enters the rink, he searches for us, and when he finds us, he smiles big.
In the midst of all the commotion, Frankie leans over and whispers to me, "I missed you, cariño (sweetheart)."
My face whips around to meet a very close Fish, who is smiling. "I missed you too." I give a small smile and lean to my side to shoulder bump him, as he places a hand on my knee.

Rain Plays SWTOR: Spirit of Vengeance Survival Walkthrough
As we head toward 7.0, I thought it would be a good idea to check in with a Spirit of Vengeance Survival Guide, 2.0. I have my own feelings about SoV - namely that it's boring, tedious and was tuned way too high for a main story solo flashpoint - but let's move on to the actual guide.
This is a guide specifically for those of you who just want to get this flashpoint over with so you can move on.
I personally would advise trying to knock this flashpoint out of your story progression BEFORE 7.0. We have no idea how hard content is going to be once you lose some of your abilities and utilities, so if you have any characters who are planned to continue with the main story, I'd take them through now while you have all of the tools in your toolbox and are familiar with them.
After literally months of complaints the devs finally toned down this flashpoint to a more manageable level, but there are still a lot of mobs that hit hard, and it's still really long. When I went through with canon Viri and Lana at level 50, with Viri fully geared toward 306, I moved right along through the flashpoint without difficulty or deaths. It still took almost exactly an hour. It's even longer when you're contending with Rass Ordo and a lot of cut scenes.
You will want to gear as well as you can for this - you should not have to since this is a story/solo flashpoint in the main story, but it will help you here. Remember you DO NOT have to group to get good gear. There are numerous solo missions that will give you gear up to 306 - the Mek-Sha Tradehouse missions, Personal Conquest each week, solo flashpoints, including the Onderon weekly and daily missions. Other suggestions:
1. Buy and use the Supplied Kyrprax Command Stim, available at any medical droid in the flashpoint, including the one when you first land on Ship #1. If you're doing this as part of the main story, you unfortunately still have Rass Ordo as your companion. Rass Ordo, despite being influence level 25, still has the AI of a cardboard box. You'd be better off bringing along a Jawagram as your companion. This stim will up your presence for an hour and make him slightly less incompetent.
2. If you can, equip yourself with the Life Warden tactical. This tactical drops fairly frequently from personal conquest and other gold gear boxes. It essentially gives you an extra heal in a tight situation and can come in handy.
3. Medpac on your abilities bar. You hopefully won't need this, but have it handy just in case. You may want to invest in the Supplied Kyprax Med Unit medpac, which will heal you AND your companion.
Within the flashpoint, some general caveats. You're looking at quantity, not quality here. It's just a lot of NPCs piling in on you.
1. KILL THE HEALERS FIRST. KILL THE HEALERS FIRST. KILL THE HEALERS FIRST. Just about every mob here has healers. They have different names on each ship:
- Varad Churl
- Darmanda Medic
- Ashade Lorekeeper
If you don't kill the medics first the fights will be even more interminable. Get rid of them.
2. Remember there are kolto stations in a lot of the rooms, not just the boss areas.
3. Be very careful because there are a lot of mob groups close together. Watch where you are blasting/Force-whatevering because you don't want to pull more than one group at once.
4. Get your gear repaired as often as you can. If you've fought a tough mob and there's a medical droid nearby, go to it and patch up, even if it means you have to backtrack.
5. Get really familiar with any AOE (area of effect) skills you have. Know where they are on your abilities bar and how to use them. Given the mobs in this flashpoint, anything you have that can clobber several NPCs at once is welcome.
Now, here we go.
SHIP #1:
Banquet room: after you fight the first mob and take the elevator, you will find yourself in a large "banquet room" with a lot of mobs. Pick a straight line and go forward, taking care not to veer too far to the sides. If you wander, you'll invariably pull the mobs on the sides of the room.
The rest of this ship is pretty straightforward; it's just a lot of mob NPCs converging on you at once, over and over again.
Gorga Brak: Straightforward; stay out of the red circles. Be aware that Rass Ordo will helpfully stand in these circles and let Gorga set him on fire, so don't expect any help during the fight.
SHIP #2:
More of the same: lots of mobs, now with Dar'manda nameplates. The Dar'manda medics try to hide more than the healers on the other ships, sometimes even going behind crates or other barriers, so keep your eyes peeled for them.
First thing of concern here: after a few rooms of mobs, you will arrive at the notorious jumping puzzle. Just stay on the right side of the room and walk along the beam. There are a few jumps up onto pieces of metal but they are not hard, ambitious jumps. Otherwise you just have two places where you have to make sure your character drops down onto the beam and not into the flames. Angle your camera overhead so you can see what you are doing.
Now it's time to go through the notorious Room After The Kitchen. As the name would suggest, you will know this is coming when you go through the kitchen. All the NPCs in the kitchen are neutral; leave them alone and keep going. The next room is a ballroom and you will find a lot of mobs.
You can get through this room by fighting only two mobs IF you watch where you are fighting and blasting. I like to try to get the first mob up onto the stairs so there's less of a chance that anyone else in the room will be disturbed. Kill the medics first. Then go straight foward - right through the fountain - and up the stairs to the second mob. I again like to try to fight them in their alcove up the stairs so I don't pull the other NPCs in the room.
You will now go down some corridors with more mobs - the space is tight, which in a way is good because you can't aggro more than one mob unless you really try. If you are going for bonus missions there are some rooms here to visit off the main path. If you're just trying to get this damned flashpoint over, continue straight down the hall toward that green arrow.
After taking the elevator you'll get to the tether room, and a yellow message will flash onscreen about it. There will be a very large mob here with a lot of Dar'manda Commander silver NPCs. If Rass Ordo decides to up and die on you, it may be here. Remember there's a kolto station to the immediate right of where you walked into the room.
Click the blue box to release the tether. Do NOT get too close to the rancor in the cage, Goldie. Back when SoV was first released, she'd aggro on you even from in her cage, and you couldn't kill her or get out of combat. They seem to have fixed that bug, but you know how that goes.
Bask Sunn: Kill. The. Medics. First. After that, Bask Sunn has a wicked knockback, but he can't knock you *out* of the ship anymore. Remember Bask Sunn leaves a crate with your loot (look on the bridge), it's not on his person.
SHIP #3:
Your first challenge here will be another room with a lot of intense mobs. Take care not to pull more than one mob at once. Rass may decide to try to die here.
You will quickly reach the sniper room. It's a long room with two snipers by the far doorway, shooting at you. Don't try to engage them; just keep running forward. As you cross this room, you will drop through the floor. It's a long fall but you won't take any damage; it's what the game wants you to do.
Rass will not fall with you, and you will have a room of tentacles to fight on your own. Hit Unity and Heroic Moment BEFORE you fall, when you are still in the sniper room with Rass. You can use your HM abilities against the tentacles. If you really have trouble with them, try to get out of the garbage pit; you will find a kolto station at the top of the small ramp.
Now we come to...oh look, another room with a lot of mobs. They're so creative here. Do your best not to pull more than one at once, kill the medics, you know the drill by now.
Troya Ajak: No special tricks. Stay out of the red circles. Her songbird volley is nasty, but she's perhaps the easiest boss in this flashpoint.
FOURTH SHIP (The Spirit of Vengeance, I think?)
Thankfully this is almost a straight shot to the final boss encounter, and there's a medical droid just before it. You may wish to wait for your Heroic Moment to cool down if you have recently used it.
The silver NPC in the small mob right outside Heta Kol's area sometimes does not die. If you find that they keep recharging to full health, walk past them, put Rass on passive, and wait by the medical droid. They should eventually give up and go back to their original spots and you can go on.
Heta Kol: This fight has mercifully been toned down. There are two stages:
You'll fight Heta Kol straight on. She has a serious knockback, but there aren't any special tricks here.
1. Stage One: fight Heta.
2. Heta disappears and a mob appears at the bottom of the stairs. There are two medics, and the Commanders will have knockbacks to keep you from killing the healers.
3. After all the mob NPCs are defeated, Heta will return. Keep trying to hit her.
4. Heta disappears. This time there's a mob with two gold Varad NPCs and two weaker ones at the stairs, plus two silver Dar'manda snipers on the platform. If you have any AOE skills, make sure they are available here so you can take out as many as possible at once. You may wish to consider saving Heroic Moment for this point so you can use Orbital Strike if you have it. Rass Ordo loves to die at this point so be mindful of where your kolto stations are. You might need the kolto for him, even if you don't need it for you.
5. Heta Kol returns with a much more serious knockback and red circles of doom that increase in size and are hard to avoid. You're going to get thrown around a lot. ETA with thanks to @vespertine-legacy: The circles can be interrupted, which may make this fight easier.
And...you're done. Thank the stars.
