no, actually, where is the whimsy?
my ex had a best friend named larry who asked me once: what do you think comes after irony?
we were at the bar where larry worked. it was a quiet night, and he'd hopped over to sit with us on the patron side. i swirled the lemon around my limoncello martini.
earnest positivity, i said, while my ex said, art self-destructs.
i stared at my ex. he stared at me.
his argument was the cinemasins argument: look how bad media is becoming! look at the loopholes and the dumb shit!
it was roughly 2011. galaxy print was still in. at the time, i had a favorite shirt that was a wolf howling at the moon. it got ripped in half in the wash and i honestly still mourn it. i dressed like effie stonem, because everyone did. and irony was the name of the thing. men liked MLP "ironically." the internet liked the kind of crass, "anti-mainstream" vibes of things like fuck romance, touch my butt and buy me pizza. we put cats in sunglasses everywhere, which was because we only liked things in irony.
and media had the same vibe in it: anti-hero white men would be "hard to love" and then storm off the scene. nobody was just earnestly trying to save the world: they were jaded, angry, unoriginal. mad you even asked them to try to help.
my ex ends up not being wrong. cinemasins becomes super popular. a lot of people start viewing media with this lens that is the cruelest, most jaded depiction. it's wrong for your character to have unexplained powers, even if the entire movie is about how strange it is she has unexplained powers - that is still considered a "loophole." characters make thoughtless, panicked choices? loophole. characters are actually kind people, despite hardship? loophole. features a woman doing literally anything without assistance? loophole. movies become hyper-aware of scrutiny, and now irony rules the media.
which means you go to a movie, and the character has to turn to the screen and say "beats me!!" or one of the side characters has to have some kind of quip like "are you seriously telling me that you think this is normal?" because nothing can happen in earnest. like a sitcom laugh track, we now anticipate the fourth-wall break: the moment that the media acknowledges it is telling a story. the media has to apologize for itself, or else someone like my ex rolls their eyes.
but here's the thing: i wasn't wrong either.
the difference might be that i am (and always have been) so soft-hearted that any crack in the light of this world will spear me into the ground. and i was the poet in the relationship. (he thought that was the same thing as being naïve and stupid). i was making things daily. i knew how all of us artists are driven by some strange desire to evolve. he notably liked to critique art, not to create it.
so yes, i've made things that are bitter and angry and even ironic. i've made long, sharp poems with all capital letters, and i've made poems about how the silence stretches out like a song. someone wrote once that we will spend our whole lives just circling the place we grew up. i think it's more that we spend our whole lives trying to remake a home. i think it's that as we age, it becomes less exciting to build the castle on the beach - we become aware of erosion, of windforce. we realize what we really want is to come home to our dog, castle or not.
and while art in the foreground is mired in white male violence and irony, and aggression, and not taking anything seriously - i don't think that's true of all art. i think more and more artists are leaning in to the things we love. the world has changed so much. they have taken so many things from us. the only thing we have left is love. at the bottom of the moving box - all we get is the faint sense that we have to appreciate what little we've got. i can't enjoy this stuff ironically anymore: what room do i have for irony? if it makes me happy, that is an amazing thing. there are so few happy places left for me. i want to be happy because of how leaves shiver beside each other like nestling birds. i want to be happy because of the color pink, and how magenta doesn't exist. i have spent so much of this life suffering, i have earned my right to a gentle ending. if nothing matters, i get to assign meaning to the nothing. i get to create meaning. i am an artist first and foremost, which means creation is my thing.
where is the whimsy? wherever i fucking put it. because if this is my last fucking chance to do any good in this world - i want to do it earnestly. i want to write things that make you happy. that make people feel heard and seen. what comes after irony has to be positivity.
it was close to my 21st birthday. in 7 years, i would end up writing a book about this relationship, which is hopefully coming out somewhere around May 2024. i come back to this bar scene in my memories a lot. i keep thinking of how pale my ex was. the look that crossed his face. how i looked back at him. how for a moment, both of us couldn't recognize the other person. like the gulf between us was a suddenly wide and cavernous thing. like we were alien to each other. he never took my opinion seriously, and he always seemed surprised whenever his manic-pixie-dream-girl ever broke free of the plot. like in the whole time we were together, i wasn't human enough.
this knowledge: where he said nothing comes after, my only instinct was what comes after is love.
#spilled ink#writeblr#this is a real story lol#looking back i liked larry as a person SO much more than my ex hollyyyyy shitttt#compulsory heterosexuality will do you DIRTY#edit to correct effies name my apologies to effie and effies family

OH what if you did something with grumpy!steve with sunshine!reader? Like they both like each other but she does something sweet for him that makes him melt!
Steve was having a horrible day. And by horrible, he meant it was like any other day. Keith had left a mountain of things to do, and he had to work the opening shift alone. Which meant he was starving and bored out of his mind.
He’s grateful when the bell rings for any sort of distraction, even if it comes in the form of your skipping, smiley-ness. You looked extra pretty today, in a cute sundress and a matching tote bag that you probably crocheted yourself. He wonders if you’ve ever considered crocheting something for him.
“Hi Steve!” You practically hop to the counter, leaning over it enough to taint the air of your strawberry perfume. He tries not to inhale too obviously.
“Hi.” He can’t help but feel less miserable in your presence, even if he is tired and hungry. His mouth waters just thinking of the burger he’ll pick up on his way home. Or atleast, that’s what he tells himself to explain the excess saliva in his mouth.
“Opening shift by yourself?” You ask knowingly.
“Yep. Keith just loves seeing me suffer.” He cracks a smile at your giggles. You always found a way to cheer him up, even without realizing it.
“Well, I’m here to end at least part of your suffering.” You pull a paper bag from your tote and he already smell the food inside. You slide it over the counter and he tries not to look too eager as he peaks inside. At this point, any food will do.
“It’s a ham and cheese sandwich. And some chips. And a juice box. And a brownie.” You smile sheepishly and he swears he could kiss you right there. He wants to dig in immediately but he manages some restraint.
He tries to pretend his heart isn’t beating out of his chest.
“My favourite. You remembered.”
“Of course I remembered. You remember everything about everyone. It’s the least I can do.” You’ve gone shy now and it makes him smile.
“You’re too sweet to me.” He tries to deflect but she only leans in closer.
“You deserve it.” She presses a soft kiss to his cheek before pulling away. She takes a step away, probably to leave but he catches her hand.
“Do you wanna…watch a movie later?” The words tumble out of his mouth before he can overthink them, but it’s worth the smile he recieves.
“Sure. My place at 7?”
“I’ll see you there.”
He waits until she’s gone to celebrate.

thinking of soft yearning at the lodge with sam. sfw.
you walk through the dark halls quietly, not wanting to wake anyone with your silly slippers hannah bought for you for christmas. which was in a few days but she was never the most patient. just for that her crackers will be spared.
it’s around two in the morning when your stomach decides to be a bitch and tell you to raid the washington lodges pantry for snacks.
after spending so much time in the lodge the environment rarely effects you, beating winds and banging trees drowned out by your gentle humming on the way to your task as you finally make it to the kitchen.
the tile is cold even through your slippers while rummage the pantry, passing through the snacks and food everyone bought for the stay while your stomach quietly rumbles. you settle on somebody’s trail mix as you close the wide pantry doors, but you nearly jump out of your skin when someone is standing right in front of you.
“jesus christ, samantha!”
she grimaced as she held her hands up, automatically trying to calm you down and apologize. “oh my gosh i’m sorry, i thought you heard or saw me behind you-“
“behind me? yknow sometimes i forget how sneaky you are because of those weird gymnastics you took a few years back.”
“yeah yeah, whatever.” she snorts and rolls her eyes as she lightly pushes past you to get to the pantry. you hop up on the island counter behind her, stuffing your mouth with the salty pretzels and peanuts from the bag while sam idly searches for…whatever.
she grips both of the doors with her hands as she rocks back on forth on her feet while browsing and you subtly let your eyes glide over her exposed arms. it’s not your fault she looks good in a tank top.
“ugh, josh forgot to get my veggie straws again.”
“want some of chris’ trail mix? he won’t kick my ass if both of us eat it. maybe i can wake ash up for a bite.”
she laughs before picking up a random box of crackers (not hannah’s, of course) and pushing away with a sigh as she closes the doors of the pantry yet again. she pops a cracker in her mouth and chews only for a few seconds before rolling her eyes and spitting it out in the nearby garbage can.
"ugh, these are as hard as rocks," she scowls, tossing the whole box into the garbage. "god, i would kill for a burger right now. why did i go vegan again?"
"beeecause you love animals and are going to become a veterinarian?"
"oh yeah. forgot about that." the chill of the kitchen air suddenly feels amplified when she pads over to you and nudges your legs apart to stand in front of you. she wordlessly opens her mouth and waits for you to drop a pretzel inside, your eyes fixated on her lips while she chews.
“now i kjow we’ve definitely been here too long, you’re starting to act like mike.”
“hm? wha’dya’mean?” she asks through stuffed cheeks. your giggle at her behavior makes her laugh in return and rest her head on your chest as her arms wrap around your waist. you pull her into a deeper hug by wrapping yours around her shoulders and rest your head on the top of hers.
you sit in silence for a few minutes, content to just share body heat in the dim light of the kitchen as the wind and snow howls outside. your kind can’t think of what happened the last time you were cuddled together on a night like this only a year ago.
chris had sneaked up some wine from the cellar and before you knew it you and sam were plastered in her bed giggling and playfully pushing each other. until suddenly you were staring at each other, breaths mixing as you both inched closer and closer-
“hey, did you hear me?”
her question kicks you out of the memory, slightly shaking your head to reorient yourself to look down at her looking up at you. little strand of blonde hair are sticking out and you gently guide them back over her head.
“no, sorry. was just thinking. what’s you say?”
“i was just…you mentioned earlier that you’d got accepted to both davis and washington state. wanted to know if you picked one yet.”
“hmm no, i haven’t. why, you wanna be dumb freshmen together?”
“maybe, yeah. wouldn’t be so bad, right?”
it’s quiet again. your mind is mulling it over but also hyper focused on her still between your legs and looking up at you like you’re all she cares about tonight. maybe it’s the cold affecting your brain or just pure dumb hope but you swear you see her lean in just an inch-
“woah! yikes, my bad, guys.”
god, of course chris is also looking for something to eat at this hour. he awkwardly laughs as the two of you pull away from each other and start heading back, the man grunting when you shove the bag of trail mix into his chest. sam makes a shimmy movement with her hand until your fingers are entwined, the girl nearly dragging you back upstairs.
when you get to the end of the hall you plant your feet when you notice she’s dragged you to her room instead of escorting you back to yours. your heart flutters when she tugs you with a smile into the room before softly shutting the door.
“sam cmon, ‘m too tired to have a girls talk night.”
“that’s not why your here! i just,” she looks down and her thumb rubs over the back of your hand. you really hope she won’t notice the goosebumps traveling up your arm, even though you can blame it on the temperature. “i really wanna be close to your tonight. please?”
she doesn’t even need to ask, the both of you settling in under the covers before you can even think to deny her. your legs tangle and her arm immediately comes up to pull you closer as you get comfy, the pounding of your heart drowned out by the droopiness of your eyes.
so as you fall asleep you don’t notice the flush on sam’s cheeks, or the slight grip she has on your top before she tells your sleeping form ‘goodnight’ and places a soft kiss on your cheek.

Mommy Knows Best
Chapter 1
Rebecca Sullivan plugged in the vacuum cleaner and set about cleaning the master bedroom. As she pushed the vacuum to reach under the bed, she hit something she wasn’t expecting. She quickly turned off the vacuum and got down on her hands and knees to investigate. Looking under the bedframe, she discovered a box she had not seen before. She pulled out and looked inside. To her complete surprise it was a full of baby supplies. There were bottles and pacifiers, diapers and onesies. But something was odd. No baby was big enough to fit into any of the diapers. They were huge. She unfolded a baby blue onesie and held it up. She thought to herself my god this would fit a grown man. Is my husband secretly a baby? Is this why he has never wanted to have kids? What the hell? She left the set the box on the bed and returned to cleaning up the bedroom. Brian would be home soon and would have some explaining to do.
He threw his briefcase in the passenger seat and hopped in his car. He ran his hands through is hair, tired and stressed out. All he wanted to do was get home to wife and have a quiet Friday night in. Brian worked for a major marketing company. It was a great paying job, but he often worked long hours, sometimes well into the evening. The stress could just be too much at times. He turned on the radio, rolled the windows down and tried to forget about his work as he drove home. A short drive later and he was rolling into his garage. He stepped out and cast a glance at all the power tools sitting on the shelf. These were all the things that made him feel like a man. Things that made him try and ignore the child that dwelled within. He hoped that by doing all the things guys are supposed to like, he could hide the secret that he still yearned to be little, to be cared for. He loved his wife dearly and had tried so many times to tell her, but every time he tried, his nerves failed him. They had been together for ten years. They had built a life together. He had climbed the ladder in his company which afforded him all the luxuries of life he wanted Rebecca to have. In providing for them both, maybe that childish fantasy would go away. But yet, he still fantasized that one day, she would make him her baby. However that was a fantasy and this was real life. He took a deep breath and walked into the house.
As he stepped through the threshold, he noticed the pleasant aroma of dinner. Rebecca heard the door opened and turned around with a bright smile. It was the smile that had smitten him all those years ago. She embraced him in a warm hug, kissing him on the cheek. “There is my big, hardworking man. Come sit and I will get you a drink sweetheart. Dinner is just about ready.” Brian didn’t object, sitting at the table and took a big sip of the Jack and Coke she placed in front of him. “My god honey, I needed a drink. It was just meeting after meeting. I’m pretty sure my brain has turned to mush. I’m going to try and forget about work until Monday,” Brian lamented. She soon retuned with their plates and the two enjoyed their dinner. He soon finished his drink and she quicky poured him another. “After dinner sweetheart, let me take care of you. Let me help my baby boy relax and unwind, she said in a syrupy sweet tone. He was a bit taken aback by “baby boy,” but he was too tired to really care.
“Here sweetheart, have one more drink and go sit in your comfy chair while I clean up. I will come get you when I’m ready for you.” Ready for what he thought. “Um ok, honey. Thank you for making such a wonderful dinner. I am so lucky that I have you to take care of me,” he replied. She smiled and said, “Of course.” Brian walked into his den and plopped down into his favorite chair. The drinks were starting to kick and soon he was nodding off to sleep. “Is my baby boy sleepy?” she asked while caressing his hand. He opened his eyes and mumbled some apology for falling asleep. “Its ok baby boy. Come with me and we will get you all cozy.” She led him by his hand back to their bedroom. His grogginess soon turned to panic when he laid eyes on his box sitting on the bed. Oh god. I am so fucked. I have no way to get out of this now. He chest grew tight and he felt like he might be sick. For decades, he had managed to keep his secret quiet. Rebecca quickly sensed his apprehension and squeezed his hand. “It’s ok sweetheart, trust me. Everything is all ok. There is no need to scare. I know my big man needs to be taken care of,” she said with such a maternal tone. “Now lay down on the bed for me. You don’t need to say anything. I know you want this. Brian, I know you want to be a baby, I found all of your stuff. I am not mad, I promise. You know I have wanted a baby for years. And maybe that time is here.” Rebecca looked down on him, seeing his eyes dart all over the room. He was scared. She knew he was filled with guilt and embarrassment. Brian thrived on being able to take care of her. “I want to be able to do this for you, but this is the only time I will make this offer. So if you want to accept this, you don’t need to say anything. All you need to do is place your thumb in your mouth and start sucking and mommy will know that you are going to be her little baby boy.”
Brian closed his eyes, as tears rolled down his cheeks. He felt horrified and excited all at the same time. His heart was racing. What do I do? This is my only chance. This is what you have always wanted. Trust her and let go. You need this. He opened his eyes and looked at his wife’s smiling face. He took a deep breath and slowly curled his fingers into his palm. He lifted his hand to his face and placed his thumb in his mouth. There he did it. Rebecca beamed, “Oh mommy is going to take such good care of my baby.” She slowly unbuttoned his shirt and then moved onto his pants. She removed all of his clothes until he was lying completely naked on the bed. She reached into the box and produced his pacifier, “I know you want your binky honey.” Returning to the box, she pulled out one of his diapers. “Get that sweet little tushy up baby,” as she slid the diaper under his bottom. The smell of baby powder seemed to put him in a trance as he sucked harder on his pacifier. She taped up the diaper, making sure it was secure. She kissed his exposed belly and then climbed up onto her side of the bed. “Come here cutie. Let me hold my baby.” He quickly complied with her demand. He laid his head on her chest, feeling her soft bosom. He let out a sigh and melted into her. He was now her baby. A tear escaped her. She had her baby. But she wasn’t content to just pretend. If she was going to be a real mommy, he needed to be a real baby. She ran her fingers through his hair and floated off to sleep.

a/n: so obviously this is fiction and we don't actually know what Mat or Liana or his parents personalities are actually like but I took some liberty with Liana's personality. see end for more notes cause I don't want to spoil anything :) also sorry this is so late!! i went back to work and then had trouble with this chapter. i hope you all enjoy! likes, reblogs and comments feed my writing soul so let me know what you think <3
masterlist masterpost ask box
Liana texts you the day after your meet-up with Mat at the park, apologizing for getting angry with you and asking to go out for drinks. You don’t have it in you to still be upset with her for yelling at you because she was always the little sister you never had and just because you and Mat are having problems, doesn’t mean it should affect your relationship with her. Sometimes you wonder if you’re too quick to forgive and forget but you know that this is an exception.
“It’s just weird, y’know?” Liana mutters, laying her head on the dirty bar table. She’s on her third drink and you’re close to cutting her off. “I’m going to be an aunt again, but I have this odd feeling about Calista. Like she’s not telling the entire truth.”
You startle when she suddenly bolts upright and looks at you with wide eyes.
“What if Mat’s not the father? That would make so much sense!”
“How so?” you ask carefully. So far, you have successfully kept the fact that Calista is not pregnant a secret. It’s a secret you will have to take to your grave because you can’t let Marlee get in trouble when all she was doing was trying to help you. The truth might come out some day, but it’s something you will deal with then.
“Mat is just being weird about the whole thing, like he’s hiding something,” she says. “Well, besides the fact that he hasn’t told mom or dad… but there’s something else.” She picks up her glass and drinks the last of her martini before signinally the bartender for a refill.
“I think it’s time we switch you to Shirley Temples,” you say gently, asking the bartender for a couple glasses of water.
She tries to wave you off when you push the water towards her but you give her the all too familiar look that you used to give her when you were both younger.
“Fine, but if I’m getting cut off, so–” she stops talking abruptly, suddenly focused on something across the room. You turn and see a familiar face that makes your heart drop into your stomach because there’s no way she’s that stupid and you’re about to say something but Liana hops off her barstool and before you can stop her, she’s marching across the room to where Calista is sitting. She’s surrounded by a few other people, one of them being a guy you can’t quite place but definitely isn’t Mat, but the real kicker is the drink in her hand.
You’re not in the business of accusing people but the way she’s laughing loudly and swaying a little in her seat makes you think that it’s not a non-alcoholic drink. You stare a little too long because when you snap out of your stupor, it’s to a loud shriek and shouting. Nearly tripping over your own feet, you rush over to find both Calista and Liana being held back by people and shouting at each other. You manage to drag Liana out of the hands of the person holding her back but you can’t help but stare at Calista in shock. You know she’s not pregnant but you didn’t think she was stupid enough to test her luck by getting drunk at a bar and possibly being seen by people who think she is.
“I knew something was off about you,” Liana shouts at Calista who only now seems to realize that you are also in the room. Her face, which was red, pales considerably and her eyes widen when she looks at you.
“You are pregnant!” Liana shrieks and when you hear people gasping and the whispers start, you know you need to get Liana out of here now.
With strength you didn’t realize you have, you drag her outside. She shakes you off as soon as you’re out the doors and promptly throws up all over your shoes. You don’t give yourself time to be grossed out, pulling your phone out of your pocket and calling the first person you think of.
“Hello?” Jax mumbles and you’re panicking enough that you can’t feel sorry that you woke him up.
“I need you to pick us up,” you gasp and suddenly you’re sixteen again, calling him to pick you up from a party that you snuck out to.
Jax doesn’t hesitate before agreeing and asking where you are. You rattle off the name of the bar and he says he’ll be there in ten minutes even though you know his apartment is at least twenty minutes away. You’ve never been so grateful to have him as a friend.
“You didn’t call Mat, right?” Liana asks quietly and you look to see her sitting on the curb, looking absolutely miserable. Her eyes are filled with unspilled tears and you can only imagine what’s going on in her head.
“No,” you tell her, sitting down next to her and wrapping an arm around her. “I called Jax.”
She nods and leans her head on your shoulder. You sit in silence for a few minutes before she speaks and her voice is quiet and shaky.
“She was never pregnant, was she?”
Maybe it’s the natural motherly instinct in you, but you realize you can’t lie to her when she’s so upset.
“No,” you tell her and then she’s crying. You know that she’s drunk which makes her more emotionally vulnerable but you also know how sensitive she’s always been and it’s not a weakness. She wears her emotions on her sleeve and it’s only ever made her kinder and wiser than she should be for her age.
“I’m sorry,” she sobs. “I shouldn’t have taken my anger out on you when Mat told me but I was so confused and upset that he was keeping it from us.”
Then she’s crying even harder. “Oh god, what are we going to tell Mat?”
Truthfully, in the chaos of all this, you haven’t had the chance to think about what you’ll do about Mat. You know Liana won’t keep the truth from him and even if she did, word travels fast and he would eventually find out. You’re not certain he can mentally handle this, not with everything that’s going on between the two of you and his fragile relationship with Nora. He was just getting used to the fact that he has a daughter when Calista dropped the baby bomb on him and now to find out that it’s been a lie? You’ve no idea what he will do.
“I don’t know,” you tell her honestly and sigh in relief when you see Jax’s car come into view. You stand up, helping her back to her feet just as Jax parks and gets out to help you.
He looks worried but doesn’t say anything about yours or Liana’s appearance. Once you’re both settled in his car, he tells you he’s going to bring you both to his apartment for the night, obviously not feeling comfortable dropping you home when you’re upset and intoxicated. You know he’s right but all you want to do is curl up in your own bed.
“Alright,” you agree eventually and he nods, starting the drive back to his place. You must nod off because the next thing you know, Jax is gently shaking your arm, waking you up.
“I can’t carry you both in,” he jokes and you look back to see Liana completely knocked out. She grumbles when you wake her but she’s coherent enough to walk.
Jax’s boyfriend, Eli, already has their guestroom set up so you get Liana in the bed and then situate yourself on the air mattress. Jax leaves with a promise to check on you both throughout the night and if you weren’t so worried about Liana, you would tell him not to worry but you’re not taking any chances with her.
You lay awake for a while, not able to get the image of Calista drunk and with another guy out of your head. You don’t know how to tell Mat about it and Liana probably won’t either but eventually you drift off to sleep.
. . .
The next morning, you wake before Liana. Jax came in and checked on you both a few times before deciding that it was okay to leave you so you’re surprised to find him awake when you make your way out to the kitchen. It’s just past 8 o’clock but he’s cooking breakfast, singing off tune to Taylor Swift.
“Hey,” you say softly, sitting at the breakfast bar. You know he’s going to want an explanation because even though he let you off the hook last night, he’s going to want to know why Liana was crying and you had vomit on your shoes when he picked you up.
“Morning,” he replies, placing a coffee in front of you and a piece of plain toast. You can feel his eyes watching you eat and once you’re done, he looks at you expectantly.
“We saw Calista at the bar last night,” you explain. “Drunk and with some random guy.”
“Huh,” he says, so you look at him. His face is neutral, not showing if he’s surprised.
“What does huh mean?”
“I mean, you did say something was off about her.”
That was putting it lightly because although you couldn’t tell him the full story in fear that Marlee would lose her job, you did express your concerns about her without telling him that you knew she wasn’t pregnant.
“Yeah,” you sigh.
You hear shuffling from the guest room and look to see Liana walking into the kitchen. She plops down next to you and groans.
“I’m never drinking again,” she says and you can’t help but chuckle despite the circumstances.
“Said every hungover person ever,” you say and a small smile crosses her face before she frowns, clearly remembering last night's events.
“I have to tell Mat,” she says. “It’s not fair to him that she lied.”
You sigh but nod in agreement.
“I have to pick Nora up from my moms,” you tell her. “Are you okay to tell him yourself?”
You really don’t want to be there when Mat finds out, not when you’re dealing with your own feelings towards him.
“Yeah,” she says, eating the toast Jax offers her.
You both finish your coffee and then Jax drives you to your apartment and you drop Liana home before picking Nora up.
She’s ecstatic to see you, telling you everything she did with grandma from the moment you dropped her off until now picking her up.
“And then, Millie hissed at me but Gizmo barked and scared her away,” she takes a deep breath before continuing her ramblings. “Can we get a kitten?”
“You’re allergic, remember?” You remind her, and then a thought pops into your mind. Where did she see your mother’s neighbor's cat? “Where did you see Millie?”
“Mrs. Turner invited us over for tea,” she tells you and then offhandedly adds: “she asked about you and Mat.”
This doesn’t surprise you because Mrs. Edna Turner is quite the gossiper. You have trust in your mother that she didn’t tell Edna anything private but you’re still curious what exactly they talked about and you know that your child can be sneaky when she wants to be.
“What did Mrs.Turner ask?” you ask, rolling your eyes when she sighs dramatically and puts her tablet away.
“Well, first she asked if Mat was really my daddy and when Grandma said yes, she said ‘that poor child’,” she says, face scrunching up in confusion. “What does that mean?”
You make a mental note to talk to your mom about bringing Nora to any future tea parties at Mrs. Turner’s.
“Nothing,” you assure her. “What else did she say?”
“She told grandma that if she were you, she wouldn’t move me to New York.” Her eyes narrow and she frowns. “I thought you said we weren’t moving to New York.”
“We’re not.”
“Then how come Mrs.Turner said that?” she demands.
“‘Cause Mrs. Turner doesn’t know how to mind her own business,” you mumble and then sigh, looking at Nora so she’s listening. “We’re not moving to New York, okay?”
She nods and then smiles. “Can we go get ice cream?”
“Yeah, we can go get ice cream,” you tell her even though it’s nearly dinner.
Every once in awhile, ice cream for dinner is in order.
. . .
It’s past midnight when there’s a quiet knock on your door, and the only reason you’re awake to hear it is because Liana let you know she told Mat the truth about Calista. She told you that he had left the house as soon as she told him that morning and hadn’t returned home all day. You were expecting a text from him but your phone was silent and that worried you even more.
So, when you open the door to find Mat standing in front of you, red rimmed eyes and looking about two seconds away from crying, you don’t hesitate to let him inside. He slips past you and toes his shoes off before going straight for the couch and sitting down on it. You hesitate, but eventually settle down next to him.
He’s resting his elbows on his knees, hiding his face in his hands and it takes you a minute to realize he’s crying silently.
“Mat…”
“I just - fuck, I thought that this was my second chance, you know? It wasn’t ideal but I would get to do all the things I missed with Nora,” he says, scrubbing his hands over his face. “I was such an idiot.”
It’s not a dig towards you but you still can’t shake the guilt you always feel when he talks about everything he didn’t get to see. Her first steps, first words, first day of kindergarten. All the things you can never get back.
“It’s not your fault,” you say gently. “You couldn’t have known.”
“I should’ve,” he mumbles and before you can say anything, you hear soft footsteps coming down the hallway. You look to see Nora, rubbing her eyes sleepily and frowning when she sees Mat.
When he realizes she’s there, he wipes his eyes hastily but it’s not fast enough because Nora walks over to him and deepens her frown.
“Are you okay?” she asks quietly, reaching out and touching his cheek that’s still damp.
Mat looks like he’s going to say that he’s fine but seems to change his mind last minute. He smiles sadly and shakes his head.
“Not really, peanut,” he tells her and the frown on her face deepens even more than you thought possible.
“Mama says hugs make things better when you’re sad,” she says, sounding much wiser than a six-year-old should sound. Then, without asking, she climbs up onto his lap and wraps her tiny arms around his neck and hugs him. You can see the moment Mat breaks, hugging her back gently and it’s like all the tension drains from his body.
You call it the “Nora Effect”, because her little hugs always seem to make you feel better.
“I’m so sorry, Nora,” you hear Mat whisper and you know he’s going to beat himself up over everything that’s happened with Calista - and Nora deserves his apologies, but your kid is one of a kind and you know that she will forgive him.
With time, if he proves himself, he’ll have a place in her life and you can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
authors notes: so calista is goneeeee FINALLY. she wasn't supposed to be here as long as she was but I got too carried away with that storyline and i'm glad it's over lol also, I had mixed thoughts about having mama be the one who told Mat that Calista was lying but I just couldn't get it right so I figured next best thing would be Liana! ps: millie is named after my own cat who i will put a pic of in the comments below

Seventeen’s reaction to you not recognising them when drunk ♡
| genre:fluff
| warnings: mentions of drinking, pet names, cursing, lmk if i missed something

performance unit version | hip-hop unit ver.
Hoshi:
Seventeen had just clinched a prestigious Daesang award, and you were out celebrating the hard-earned victory with the group.
the night begins with celebratory drinks, as Hoshi's friends convince you to join in the festivities.
and that's it you guys were out, partying hard celebrating your boyfriend's success
although Hoshi had been there too to make sure you didn't go overboard
what caught him off guard was your unexpected assertion of not recognizing him
"Get your hands off of me you pervert!"
he was shocked, to say the least
but gotta admit, he felt kinda proud seeing you stand your ground and not let some random guy touch you, even if that guy happened to be him.
You turned to Seungkwan, seeking validation and asking him to confirm that this person is not someone you know.
to which Seungkwan awkwardly laughs, caught in the middle of the situation
"Babe, I'm your cute boyfriend"
"Then tell me something only my boyfriend knows?" you question him
He raises his eyebrows and motions you to come closer
"one time you tried to challenge me to a dance battle, but it turned into a clumsy stumble, and you ended up on the flo-"
you put your hands on his mouth to stop him from revealing that embarrassing story
"Okay, okay! you're definitely my boyfriend"
Jun:
Despite being your boyfriend, Jun finds you unable to recognize him while heavily intoxicated.
the boy is pouting and is offended af
"Come on, shake it off," he said trying to grab your arm to get you out of the club
what caught him off guard was you landing a punch square in his stomach
Jun visibly grimaces, feeling the impact of the punch to his rib
"I know how to box sir, so you better keep your distance," you said walking away
At this point, Jun has no choice but to wait for you to head home by yourself, all he can do is follow you home making sure you get there safely
he woke up the next morning with a huge bruise on his side and for the love of god you couldn't remember a thing
"Where did you get that bruise from baby?" you asked innocently
The8:
he tried to play like he was actually hurt by you not recognizing him, but, man, he thought it was so darn cute
he would listen to you ramble about everything in your life, from how your new cat was constantly attacking others to how much your boyfriend loved you
"You know, my boyfriend wanted to name the new cat Pumpkin, but he looks so much like an Oreo, we almost fought but in the end, we named it Oreo"
"Your boyfriend treats you so badly, why would he fight with such a sweet girl like you" Minghao played along
"NOOOO! my boyfriend is the sweetest person in the whole world, don't you dare talk shit about the love of my life," you warned your new friend showing shoving your lock screen of you and Minghao together in his face
He'd chuckle and mumble something along the lines of, "How am I not supposed to love you"
Dino:
Dino got a little pouty when he realized you couldn't recognize him
all he wanted was your affection, but you wouldn't let him touch you, leaving him slightly disappointed
"Babe come on let's go"
"No I don't know you please stop following me, mister" you yelled
poor guy
he's chasing after you trying to convince you that he's not a threat, in fact he's your boyfriend
"I'm your loving BOYFRIEND babe, do you not recognize me?"
"Why won't I recognize my own boyfriend you creep? Stop following me around." you'd say, slapping his hands away
You took out your phone and called your boyfriend trying to explain that a creepy man was following you around
Dino handed you his ringing phone, showing it to you to convince you that he was indeed your boyfriend.
"Babyyyyy!!! you should've come sooner" you exclaimed, throwing yourself on him, wrapping your arms around him
"I'll always be here for you love," he said shaking his head before planting a soft kiss to your forehead.

Maybe moving into a new apartment during the month of October seems like a good idea to a normal person. It’s right after the busy summer months that are filled with vacations and plans with friends. But, also just before the holiday season with back-to-back family parties that can become borderline awkward.
Well, looking at it now, maybe it wasn’t the best idea.
Maybe you shouldn’t have put the idea in your head that you wanted to update your decorations every season. Maybe you shouldn’t have spent three paychecks on cute pumpkins and fake cauldrons. Maybe you should have asked your parents to leave the ladder they brought when they helped you move in. Maybe you should have just grinned and bared it when you weren’t able to reach the ceiling of your balcony, and you couldn’t hang up the cute lights you bought.
In a world full of maybes, full of possibilities that were drowning in regret towards what could have been; you didn’t regret a thing once you looked upwards to see your extremely handsome neighbour helping you hang up the lights. He saw you about an hour earlier, standing on a chair and some books attempting to install a bunch of string lights that looked like candles. But with one moment of imbalance, causing you to drop the broom which was supposed to help you push the tape onto the ceiling — your neighbour ran out of his own apartment to see what all the noise was about. Especially since he heard a high-pitched scream coming from your lips.
“What’s going on—” he ran out to his own balcony to see you in a state of shock, looking down at the ground below.
“Sorry, I overreacted. My broomstick fell,” you said sweetly with a pout. Truthfully, you could already hear your parents’ scolding as you imagined the moment you would attempt to tell this moment as a funny story during Thanksgiving dinner in a few weeks.
“Were you practicing your flying before Halloween?” he smiled as he saw the definite shape of a purple broom on top of a bush.
“No, Steve, I was just trying to put up my decor,” you tried to hide your embarrassment with a bit of giggling. “Maybe I should’ve asked my parents to leave their ladder the other week.”
The man looked over at the red curtains, fake spider webs on the window, and gigantic box of fake candles — he smiled at the way you seemed so excited to decorate for the upcoming holiday. Steve didn’t know you, his new neighbour, well. However, your kindness was something he adored to see every time he did get the opportunity to speak to you. Noticing the softness in your eyes every time he offered to help you with your grocery bags, or when he offered you a ride to the bus station, Steve promised himself that he would find a way to see that sparkle as much as possible.
“You’re really going all out, aren’t you?” he said in a teasing tone.
“Oh, of course. Halloween is always so fun. But, you should see what I have ready for Christmas,” decorating just always seemed so exciting to you. Yes, maybe you should be saving your money to buy regular things you can use on a daily basis. But, this was way more thrilling.
“Can’t wait, doll,” the nickname made you feel so warm amidst the cool autumn air. “If you’d like, I can hop on over there and help you.”
Steve looked like he was about to lunge himself to jump the metal gate that separated your balconies, but you stopped him before he could. “There’s a front door for a reason, please don’t join my broomstick down there. What if there’s a huge gust of wind or something?”
“Fine, fine, I won’t. But that’s mainly because my ladder will be too hard to jump with.” Steve winked.
“You have one?” you gasped and tightened your grip around the railing in excitement.
“My roommate and I used to do some construction jobs,” Steve shrugged nonchalantly.
Right, the roommate.
In truth, that man was the first person you met in the entire building. You had just gotten your keys and were bringing up two suitcases full of your everyday clothing. Right then, a man with crazy hair and even crazier tattoos, that could be seen with his low-cut top, took the elevator with you to the sixth floor. He was about your age, and no matter how much you wanted to say hello to the handsome man, he couldn’t stop staring at you.
But, not in a menacing, extremely creepy, kind of way — instead, Steve’s roommate looked at you in a sort of shock. It made you believe that he was just an extremely shy guy. You try not to think about the times he and Steve would have friends over and you could hear his deep voice talking about books and mythical creatures, all things that you wished to talk about with someone too. It was not difficult to admit just how badly you craved to have a moment to talk to him.
“Eddie?” you nearly felt your cheeks explode with heat.
“Yup, that’s him. You seem to be getting the hang of everyone’s names here, smart girl,” Steve chuckled as he saw the way your eyes darted around from his own eyes then to the floor.
“Well, he is the only person I haven’t been able to speak to yet.”
“One day, I promise I’ll get that guy to talk to you.” Honestly, Steve wished that Eddie would stop being so annoying about his bad habit of never talking to you, but always talking about you when you weren’t around. “Now give me a minute and I’ll knock.”
-:-:-:-:-
And so, after about five minutes of waiting — and you pushing boxes out of the way of the front door so that no one was about to trip whilst finishing up the decorating — Steve appeared with a small ladder that would be the perfect size to hang up all the lights you wanted. The man looked around the interior of your apartment first. It was the same as his, only a lot cleaner, with less pictures of dragons and movie posters on the walls. The young Harrington noticed that you represented just about every haunted creature in your tiny apartment. Even going as far as having all of your horror genre books laid out on the coffee table for guests to read when they desired.
Although you had only been here for a few weeks, this was already becoming home to you. “Looks like you made this your own little haunted mansion,” Steve teased as he set up the ladder outside.
“It’s not much, just things to get into the spirit,” you smiled up at him.
“Now I really gotta put your lights up. It’ll be boring if people are looking into your balcony and there are no decorations,” he chuckled as he looked to the balcony ceiling to see only one candle light successfully hung.
“Thank you, Steve,” you bit your lip as you remembered all of the hostess manners that your mother engraved into your brain. “Let me at least offer you some coffee, beer — oh, I think I have some cake in the fridge.”
“No, it’s fine. Just keep me company and that’s all I need. Some eye candy is sweeter than the real thing sometimes.” The man in front of you finished setting up his ladder as he finished speaking those words and winked at you. In truth, you weren’t so sure if the shaking of your legs was due to the cold breeze passing through and under your skirt, or if it was because the wink sent a thousand warm vibrations through your body. Regardless, you didn’t notice the way you squeezed your legs together as you went to the other side of the balcony to finish decorating — and trying to hide your slightly embarrassed face away from the man.
But, Steve noticed. He noticed it right away, and it only made him wonder just how many times you try smiling to yourself every time your cheeks would feel warm.
Over the next hour as the sun set, Steve hung up your lights one by one in a cute pattern. He talked about how often his own mother would make him do similar work during Christmas time because he was always home, as opposed to his father. You listened intently as you learned more about your neighbour, all while fixing a few plants and the pillow covers on the small seat on the balcony. Once the sun set a part of you got a little sad because that would mean the work was almost done and Steve would have to head back to his apartment. It was nice to finally get to talk to someone for the first time in weeks. The busy time of unpacking, on-boarding at a new job, and getting used to the new time zone, was over. Now you actually are able to start your life.
What also made you a little sad was that you would soon need to say goodbye to your neighbour for the night, and try your best to forget about the way the muscles on his arms would flex whenever he would focus on sticking a light to the ceiling. Even making you gasp when his shirt would ride up slightly and the little sliver of his chiseled stomach would tease you. And every time, you would look away immediately, only to cause a hitch in your breathing.
It would be a lie to say that Steve wasn’t intentionally on a lower step of the ladder because it would force him to flex his muscles a little bit harder in front of you. It would also be a lie to say that Steve wasn’t doing his own little form of spying. He would always glance down to see what you were up to; his favourite moment would be when you would go to sit down and your thighs would be squeezed a bit under your skirt.
Steve wondered what it would be like to be between them and eat you ou—
“Would you like a bite?” you whispered, bringing him out of a haze.
“W-what?” he genuinely thought he was caught in his escapades.
“Maybe we could order some take out. If you weren’t busy tonight, of course.” The shyness in your eyes and tone made Steve’s heart melt.
“So pizza, Chinese, or maybe something new in town that you haven’t tried before? Take your pick, sweetheart.” Steve winked as he sat on the little rattan couch you just put pumpkin-themed pillows on.
The sweet pet names he had been calling you this evening have been making you giggle every time out of pure giddiness. Even as the name slipped from his lips, and his figure sat in front of you with arms spread wide, waiting for you to join him; you prayed that he wouldn’t notice the way you sat to his left with slightly shaky legs in excitement. Truthfully, it wasn’t helping that he put his arm respectfully behind your back and would fix your hair whenever it fell close to your face throughout your next conversations. You felt like you were experiencing your first crush ever, that’s how excited you were. Adding your little delusions of grandeur to the mix, and you were equally as hypnotized with Steve as he secretly was with you.
It had been so long since someone had taken the time out of their day to slyly flirt with you. Adding the fact that there was a sunset happening from the corner of your eyes, with the lit up candles and slowly appearing stars becoming witnesses to your sweet autumn evening with Steve; it was all aspects to becoming one of your favourite nights to happen since moving in.
-:-:-:-:-
Once the white cartons full of noodles, fried rice, chicken balls, and steamed vegetables arrived, you and Steve stayed on the balcony to bask in the cool autumn evening. Luckily, you kept blankets nearby for moments like these. So the two of you continued to talk under the coziness of the fluffy fabric and dim lighting of the fake candles.
Just as Steve finished up his large portion of noodles, he leaned back to stare at the ceiling. “These are really nice. You could be a professional decorator one day,” he teased you. His actions made you mirror his neck movement.
“As long as I can borrow your ladder then I’ll be set,” you giggled.
“Or I can always help you out too,” he looked to his left to see the silhouette of your face. The glow from the lights made you look like a beautiful doll.
“I’ll pay you in Chinese takeout,” a small dimple on your cheek showed your giddiness.
“Deal,” Steve sat up slightly and turned his body towards you. “Another option would be for you to come to my party next weekend. All my friends will be there and everyone goes all out with their costumes.”
Just as the words were said, you looked up at him, then to the metal railing behind the rattan couch. It had been placed at the separator between your two balconies. Knowing that you actually made a friend who lived so close to you, caused a warm feeling through your body — one that made you cuddle in deeper with your blanket. “Really? You’d like me there?”
“Of course. Someone who doesn’t invite their pretty neighbour to a party they’re hosting needs to be out of their mind,” considering that Steve’s roommate has never spoken to you, it could be seen as a miracle to be invited over.
“Well then it looks like I gotta go through my closet to find a costume,” you smiled.
The sparkle in your eyes, reflecting the light shimmer of the lights above, hypnotized Steve. “Why do I feel like you already have at least five options in mind?”
“Only three.”
“Would you tell me?” Steve chuckled at the way you took a bite of egg roll in order to hide your excitement.
“No, it’s a surprise,” you looked away from your neighbour’s gaze.
In truth, you had about thirty ideas in mind, but there was no need for your new friend to find out that you had a collection of clothes you bought from the thrift shop — with its only purpose being for last-minute costume parties. Everything from a vampire to a zombie, there were at least enough costumes for everyone in the party in the first place. Admittedly, a part of you wondered what Steve was going to wear. Throughout this evening, you saw the way his muscles were so defined. Even now, as he put an arm on the couch, above your shoulders but not touching them, you wished so badly that he would dress in anything that would show them off.
God, you really did sound so boy-crazy for your neighbour of all people.
It really wasn’t helping that Steve brought his arm down slightly to pull you in closer, mentally giving himself the excuse that he wanted to keep you warm. “Then, would you help me decorate?”
“I knew there was a catch,” you giggled before slapping him lightly on the chest. “But, yes I will. I still have so much decor left in the storage locker from back home.”
“Just not these lights though. I swear my arms are about to fall off,” the man tensed his shoulders dramatically.
“Fine, there are probably some sort of easy string lights we could use though. The ones with the little pumpkins are too cute, and maybe —”
“Our friends are gonna love you.” Steve accidentally cut you off by letting his thoughts be heard aloud.
Anyone from a mile away could see the way the man’s demeanour softened as you spoke. Even his own voice was so soft, yet deep. The sound resonated through your body — causing a few shivers to roll up your spine. The moment anyone hears the way he speaks with you, they’re all going to berate him about it forever. Yet, Steve could already tell that Robin was going to love your excitement about life, or the way Dustin would adore how you listened so intently in any given situation. Well, mostly everyone he knew was talkative anyways, so a good listener was something they all craved.
“Our?” you asked, tilting your head to the side in slight confusion.
“Yeah, they’re friends with Eddie too. A bunch of them are driving up from our hometown,” Steve noticed the way you backed away from his body a little, leaning closer to the left corner of the couch.
“Right, right.”
“Are you scared of him?” he asked concernedly. “You always seem so shy when he comes up.”
The way Steve placed a caring hand on your thigh, above the blanket, made your heart flutter. But, you wanted to subdue any thoughts he had towards you disliking his roommate. “W-well, no, not at all. It’s just—”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to pry.”
Well, it’s now or never. Millions of scenarios went through your head — both reality-filled moments, and imaginative possibilities of what you believed Eddie’s ill-fitting thoughts were in that situation. But, would it be polite to even mention your concerned thoughts? What if Eddie found out that you were gossiping to his roommate? That could make the situation worse, making him believe that you enjoyed talking about people behind their backs.
Alas, you decided to keep it vague.
“No, uhm, I just don’t think Eddie likes me so much,” you shrugged before smiling at Steve.
“That’s not true,” he would know. Now would probably be a horrible time to mention the amount of girls Eddie invites over who had similar hairstyles to you; or there was even one time you were wearing a new sweater, and Eddie was able to find someone wearing the exact same one then proceeded to take them out that night.
The lengths his stubborn roommate would go through astounded Steve. The little gossip fiend within him desperately wished to know your perspective of the curly-haired man.
“He looks at me all funny when we take the elevator together, or whenever we are in the hallway at the same time,” you pouted.
“How so?” Steve asked, his arm reaching around you now a little tighter. You savoured the warmth immensely, causing you to lean your head on his shoulder comfortably.
“There was this one time this girl was in the elevator with me and so I started talking to her since I really loved the purse she had, plus she seemed super nice,” you paused for a moment as you looked up to Steve, almost placing your chin on his side. “She was, by the way.”
The puzzle pieces were connecting in his head. “Was she the one with the blue streaks in her hair? Kinda tall?”
A light gasp fell from your lips as you moved away from Steve to have better eye contact. It almost felt like second nature to put your hands on his left thigh as you became more immersed in the storytelling. In truth, the man next to you was about to lose his mind. Just as you found your balance, your right hand was a bit too close to his member. The young Harrington prayed that you didn’t move much more, as your arms squeezing together made your cleavage become more visible as you continued to speak.
“And then when we got to our floor,” you said after nodding. “She was walking with me and said she was heading in the same direction. So after a few minutes, Eddie opened the door to see what the chatter was all about. H-he looked so mad.”
“You probably woke him up from his nap,” Steve chuckled at the way your voice became quiet with the last few words.
“I suppose so. Then I said goodbye to the girl and she went into your apartment with Eddie. The door wasn’t even closed by the time they started — you know — making out.”
There it was: the confirmation that you and him were definitely thinking about the same girl. But, what intrigued Steve more, was the way a hint of awkwardness and jealousy flashed before your eyes. Then, as you bit your lip, Steve wished so badly to kiss them until they were more plump.
He really needed to stop himself.
“Munson must’ve been real stressed that day then. He only calls her up when he is,” Steve leaned his forehead closer to yours.
“Why would he call up his girlfriend only when he’s in a bad mood?” you couldn’t help but lean closer as you asked the question, completely oblivious to Eddie’s situation.
“Oh, sweet girl. That is definitely not his girlfriend,” the man chuckled politely as he leaned close to your face.
“But they were —”
You barely got the words out before Steve’s lips bypassed yours. The deep amber notes of his cologne filled the air as his breath tickled your ear sweetly. Just this small movement made you gasp in surprise before smiling to yourself. A pleasurable chill went up your spine as he whispered deeply into your ear.
“Do you know what friends with benefits are?” He asked, his right hand placed softly on the side of your face. “They just fuck whenever they feel like it. They’re not actually together though.”
As secretly as you could, you squeezed your thighs together as the words were felt between your legs. Steve’s small touches, his low voice, his soft brown eyes — it all made you want to kiss him so sweetly. There was a part of your brain that craved it, the same part that was imagining what it would be like if he were to lean a little closer and place kisses down your neck.
And oh, Steve was wondering the same things as you. The way your body was reacting was making him notice how your breathing hitched. His eyes even saw the way your thighs squeezed together. The man wasn’t sure if it was the blanket or both of your beating hearts that made everything feel so warm.
“Oh, this is my first time hearing about this,” you finally breathed out.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to be so vulgar,” he smiled as he touched your chin to look at him.
“No, you weren’t,” you giggled. “I’m still a little confused though. Does Eddie like having sex when he’s in a bad mood?”
“Don’t you? It brings out the passion in him, I think. Hate sex and all that,” Steve rambled casually.
You move away slightly to laugh to yourself before looking up at Steve again. “So maybe he doesn’t hate me that much since he doesn’t want to have sex with me.”
If that’s what you want to believe.
“Well, I can tell you that he definitely doesn’t hate you in a bad way.”
“You’re so sweet to me, Steve.” He weirdly knew just how to comfort you, even after only knowing you for a short while.
“What type of neighbour would I be if I didn’t help you with your worries?” He leaned back slightly and twirled his fingers in the air, symbolizing for you to turn around. So you did, slightly tilting your body and following Steve’s lead to have you lean a bit on his front as he started massaging your shoulders.
You were so beautiful like this, to the point where the man couldn’t help but be entranced by your delicate skin and soft whimpers of relief as each moment passed.
Just as much as Steve could tell that his roommate had a schoolboy crush on you, he desperately felt the same way too. The young Harrington was used to girls throwing themselves at him. Especially working the odd job here and there to make ends meet — there was no shortage of new women in his life. Just some flirting with someone at the bar and he could let out all of his pent up energy with someone. In the same way that Eddie had a tendency to go out with people after his shows, the apartment almost always had a guest of some sort. No one could count just how many times a sock on the door was used on a random day of the week, and not a Saturday night like a normal person. However, that all seemed to stop when you moved in. The day you came into town to look at the apartment for the first time, Eddie and Steve were hanging out on their own balcony and heard a soft voice from the slightly open window next door.
There you were with a sweet smile and soft voice, it seemed to hypnotize both men instantly. After some prying, they found out through the landlord that you were one of ten people who had interest in renting the place next to them. Needless to say, the two men did everything in their power to seem like annoying, loud and obnoxious neighbours — thank God that Eddie’s band was up for the game too and decided to have rehearsal in the apartment for a few days. Slowly but surely, you were the last interested party; the goal that Steve and Eddie were aiming for. When you officially moved in, the playboy days were dwindling down for the roommates. Of course, there was maybe the bi-weekly partner whenever things became really stressful. However, sometimes a right hand and imagination go a long way. At the very least, Steve had more ammo than Eddie, since he actually spoke to you. Eddie just kept to himself about the crush and tried to do everything to forget about you.
Such a stubborn man , Steve constantly thought.
In truth, the men were not strangers when it came to sharing a partner or five. They were like a fantasy come to life when some women walked through the apartment doors. Imagine going home with a hot guitarist, only to head to his place and find a muscular pretty boy lounging on the couch in a tight white shirt. Anyone with a sound mind would feel their legs go numb at the thought of taking both men at once.
Alas, Steve and Eddie were of sound mind as well. They knew that sharing was caring, and if all parties were up for it, then it was bound to be a long and pleasurable night for everyone.
Currently, it was all up for the younger Harrington to see if you were even slightly interested. And by the way you bit your lip every time Eddie’s name was mentioned, or how your eyes would glaze over every time Steve would unintentionally flex his muscles; he hoped that maybe he would get the chance to place a soft kiss on your lips. Especially since his roommate would not be able to get rid of his stubbornness and make the first move on you.
“Feels nice,” your voice brought him out of his thoughts. Slowly, your shoulders began to relax beneath his fingertips. “Sorry I kept asking about your roommate’s sex life.” In truth, you felt shy with the fact that you spoke so heavily on such a private matter with someone you barely knew.
“It’s not a problem at all. You get so cute when an embarrassing topic comes up,” Steve whispered as he got close to your ear whilst massaging you.
“Honestly, I’ve never really talked about this stuff with other people. Even my ex-boyfriend rarely spoke about it with me,” you said honestly as you closed your eyes.
“Curious?”
Softly, Steve placed a kiss on the back of your neck. The small action made you whimper accidentally. It shocked you in the nicest way possible, so much so, that you didn’t think before speaking. “I-I suppose. There are just a lot of things I want to experience but no one to do it with.”
“You don’t need to do it with anyone. You can always have some fun on your own,” Steve teased as his hands went further down your spine to massage you.
“Oh, I can?”
With soft eyes, you looked at him over your shoulder. You saw the way there was an intense look behind his gaze — full of fire and lust; it made you bite your lip out of excitement and desperation. Steve’s hands were barely massaging your back now, they were caressing your sides up and down. Every few movements he would brush against the bottom of your clothed-breasts before going back down again. It was causing tingles to vibrate throughout your body. In an instant, Steve kissed your shoulder before looking at you intensely.
“These walls are thin, baby. I haven’t heard you bring anyone over. A pretty girl in a new city deserves to be taken out on dates. But, most importantly, I haven’t heard you touch yourself since you moved in either,” he teased, his face getting closer and closer to your face with each word. At this point, your lips were barely a centimetre apart.
“How did you — there’s no time for me to try,” you said honestly with a pout.
“Aweh, pretty girl is stressed out with everything going on, huh?” he whispered, his breath tickling your nose.
“Yes, but this makes me feel so good,” you moaned as Steve’s fingers moved down to massage the sides of your thighs. “Do you talk like this to all your neighbours?”
Steve chuckled as he stopped his movements to look at you with a grin. “Only the most beautiful ones. Especially the ones who want to help with my horrid interior design.”
“So there really is a catch,” you giggled, hoping that Steve didn’t feel your cheeks warm up as he held your face in his hand.
This was it, the smile you showed him, the lust in your eyes that increased as time went on, and the way you kept squeezing your thighs together — Steve was about to lose it. In so many ways, everything felt so easy-going with you. He could barely remember a time where he actually enjoyed having a conversation so mundane with anyone.
“I wanna kiss you so bad,” he thought aloud.
“Please do.”
With that, both of you leaned forwards to feel the softness of each other’s lips. It was a kiss that was so unchaste that you prayed no one would even attempt to look into the balcony. Goodness knows that there actually is a very religious old lady who lives above you. So a near impossibility floated through your head, wondering if she had the flexibility to use the fire escape. But, that thought easily left your head as you felt Steve’s tongue tease your lips. That, along with his hands roaming your entire body made you moan just enough for him to tease his tongue with yours.
In truth, you couldn’t handle the angle of twisting your body around, so you moved the blanket slightly before moving your back a little straighter. Steve got the message and moved forwards too, to allow you to be more comfortable as the kiss progressed. After a few moments, he had you lay down on the arm of the couch, secretly placing a pillow above your head in the process.
You looked so angelic like this. With the light from the fake candles above making you glow from your hair to your eyes to your smile, Steve wished so badly that he was able to capture this moment forever. Even as you slowed down the kiss to catch your breath, the small noises you were making only solidified the fact that he adored this night. Slowly, Steve kissed down your neck, noting the way you whimpered louder when he hit your pulsepoint. When you arched your back, it coincided with the moment the man placed a hand right above your breast. The cold autumn air made your nipples a bit hard, even through the dress you were wearing. As if by instinct, Steve pushed the neckline of the fabric down so that he was able to bare more of your soft skin to the evening stars.
“Such pretty tits,” he whispered as he exposed your nipples to the cool air. Steve’s mouth began to drool at the thought of putting his mouth on them. “It’s a shame it’s almost winter time and they’re gonna be covered up.”
“Well, you don’t know my costume yet,” you giggled sweetly as you unknowingly lifted your body up, bringing your breasts closer to his mouth.
So, the man kissed down your skin, ensuring to linger on his lips in his path. “What’re you gonna be? A bunny? Little puppy?” he teased, placing a chaste kiss onto both of your hardened buds with the final two questions.
“I was thinking of a pirate. Could be really nice with a little dress and a corset—oh,” you moaned as Steve sucked and bit your nipple.
“You’ll be the death of me that night,” he whispered onto your chest as one hand moved the blanket to the side and began massaging your bare thighs.
“Not if you get to me first,” you giggled. The man’s hands were moving further and further up your thighs before it reached a sliver of lace. Desperately, you moved your hips forwards and squeezed your thighs together to give yourself some level of relief. No one has ever dreamed more for someone’s hands to move faster. “What if people see?”
The question filled your mind as the cool air seemed to touch more of your skin. A mixture of hot and cold overwhelmed you now, alongside conflicted feelings about whether or not to ask Steve to bring the activities inside.
However, if the throbbing between your legs was telling you one thing, it was to please find the climax of your pleasure as soon as possible.
“We’re on one of the top floors, plus everyone is inside already,” Steve comforted you, moving his body upwards to kiss you sweetly.
“How about Eddie?” you asked in a whisper.
“Not home for another hour, I think,” he mirrored the volume of your voice as he continued to kiss your cheek and neck.
“Oh, alright, keep going,” you smiled whilst helping the man out by lifting the skirt of your dress higher in order to expose more of your thighs to the cool-air.
Steve nearly came in his pants as he looked down to see the glowing skin. “Yeah?” he teased, biting your ear in the process.
With one last kiss down your neck, the man next to you looked down to see the way your arousal was seeping through your black lace panties. Even in the darkness of the evening, your thighs were glistening with the wetness that has grown throughout the night. Steve took a moment to capture the image of you squeezing your thighs and rocking them slightly to satiate your desperation, before slowly taking his hand and removing the drenched fabric from you. Once it was off, your pussy began to throb in anticipation as to what was going to happen next.
You both looked down to see how Steve’s hand slowly made its way between your thighs. He was so easily able to make you bite your lip and look back and forth between his focused face and his large hand.
“Please, touch me,” you begged sweetly, moving your hips upwards to get his fingers to meet your needy clit.
“Like this?” the words barely left his lips before he finally touched the wetness between your thighs. He began to massage the little nub in circular movements, then from side to side. Any small touch was enough to make you mewl and lean your head on his shoulder as you moaned in pure ecstasy. “So sensitive, doll.”
“Feels so nice, Steve. I need more.” Moans and whimpers were releasing from your throat like a song.
Steve decided on a fast pattern that made you breathe heavily next to him. You were so beautiful like this, so needy and throbbing beneath the evening skies. The cool air made your nipples hard, silently begging Steve's lips to go upon them again. However, he wanted to kiss you first, savouring the way he was drinking up every moan and whimper you were emitting, whilst his other hand went to massage and squeeze your breasts softly.
It was when the man next to you slowly inserted one finger into your wet hole, that you moaned louder than you have tonight. “I-I-Steve, I really like that,” you whimpered incoherently between kisses.
“Can I add another one?” he asked with a smile against your lips, but you barely needed to nod before your hips were thrusting themselves upwards in excitement, urging another finger inside of you to stretch you out.
“More,” you whispered as you arched your back. Steve continued to thrust his fingers deep inside you, his thumb massaging your clit every few movements. He wanted to continue this moment of ecstasy by kissing down your neck and then going to suck on your hardened nipples.
“You’re so beautiful like this. So wet for me. Look how well you’re taking me.”
“Your fingers are so much thicker than mine,” you giggled through bitten lips.
“When was the last time you’ve been fucked, doll?” Steve asked as he looked up at you as he sucked on your left nipple, the most sensitive of the two.
The question was a simple one, one that embarrassed you quite a bit. But, remembering what it was like to be stretched out, made you throb upon Steve’s thick fingers. Your mind couldn’t stop itself from wondering one thing: what would it be like if the man before you was going to be the one stretching you out.
Judging by the hardness that he has been sporting for the past little while, you had a pretty good idea.
“It’s been too long. Months, Steve,” you admitted. “C-can you, please help me?”
You wished so badly to be more vulgar with your words; however, your brain was so focused on the climax of your pleasure, and the fact that Steve’s fingers were thrusting in and out of you at a faster pace.
“Not even a toy? Hairbrush? How about using a cute pillow as something to rub your pretty pussy on?” Steve’s perverted mind kept urging him to ask the questions. He noted the way your heat clenched with each word.
“No, I have no time,” you moaned loudly. This time, Steve kneeled in front of you now, leaving your breasts feeling colder as the wind hit the trail of saliva he left.
“You poor thing. Well, looks like we gotta find a way to let out all your pent up stress,” he kissed your clit sweetly with the last word.
The words failed to leave your throat. Instead, a breathy moan escaped instead. Steve began to kiss and lick your sensitive clit as his thick fingers were making their way inside of you. This felt like such a dream. There have been countless nights where you have awoken from a rather active imagination — wondering what it would feel like if your neighbour were to help you release your sexual energy. The dating game has not been extremely friendly to you, and the only person who has come up in your mind as someone who made your legs involuntarily squeeze together, was your neighbour.
But which neighbour exactly?
It would be a lie to say that only Steve has been the main focus. Sometimes you have dreamed that it was Eddie thrusting his silver ring-clad fingers inside of you. Maybe it was both of them at the same time. But, good god, Steve was so good that you nearly forgot everything in your brain. His soft lips began to suck on your clit, circling it with his tongue slowly. He noticed how you would clench on his fingers and gush a little more if he sucked hard and moved his fingers upwards. And so, he did it over and over until you were moaning so loud that he could even hear it when your thighs squeezed around his head.
“You’re so good at this, Stevie. My pussy feels nicer than it ever has,” you thought aloud.
“And here I thought you were too embarrassed to do it outside,” he winked up at you before going down to kiss your swollen clit.
“Maybe I’ll use a blanket to cover you up a bit, just in case,” you smiled before putting the warm fabric upon his shoulders.
“Such a sweet girl,” he whispered onto your clit, with two meanings behind the words.
Remembering how nice it felt when Steve’s lips and fingers were squeezing your nipples, you mirrored his previous actions with your hands. Thankfully, it added a little bit of warmth to your skin.
“I-I’m so close, Steve.”
“Gonna get louder for me, doll? Your noises are so fucking nice.” He started to thrust his thick fingers inside of you faster. He was able to hit a sweet spot that made you cry out in ecstasy.
“Someone might hear, Steve,” you whimpered as you grasped onto his hair with one hand.
The man looked up at you and winked whilst sucking on your clit. You couldn’t stop staring at the hazel eyes, focusing on them and the pleasure he was able to give you. However, it was when his eyes broke eye contact with you, that your heart dropped to your stomach.
“It’s a bit too late for that.”
Fuck.
The voice was familiar, clouded by a raspiness that made your body shiver. Then, there was the smell of cigarettes lingering in the air that felt comforting to your senses in the cold weather. No matter how much you knew you should turn around and confirm who was behind you, your instincts knew exactly who it was. So you didn’t take your gaze away from Steve, who gave your clit one last kiss before straightening his back — his fingers were still knuckle-deep inside of you.
“When did you get back?” Steve asked with a tilt to his head.
“Like five minutes ago. I stopped by the grocery to get eggs and some sliced cheese because we ran out yesterdat,” Eddie said calmly.
How dare they act so nonchalant as you lay here, extremely exposed to the elements?
“Thanks, man,” Steve nodded as he took his roommate’s cigarette for a slight puff. His movements made his fingers inside of you twitch slightly
This made you turn around to see the curly-haired man leaning on the railing that separated your two balconies. He probably hates you so much right now. Every time you two have interacted, it has been moments of silence and awkward stares. This was surely the most awkward situation of them all. Thus, you got some of the blanket to cover yourself up, covering your chest and the top of your thighs.
For some reason though, everything seemed to excite you. Steve noticed it too, how you were getting wetter and wetter by the second. It made him smirk when he looked down to see your thighs squeezing together slightly.
“Did you invite more people to the party this weekend?” Steve continued.
“Nah, I think our guest list is finalized,” Eddie shrugged without breaking eye contact with you. It was you who looked away first.
“Add in our neighbour here, she said she’ll help us with decorating too,” he added, about to give you the cigarette before you shook your head.
“Steve,” you whispered annoyedly, your eyes looking between his own and the hand between your legs.
He got a hint, not the right one, but a hint nonetheless. “Sorry, sweetheart,” he said. Steve simultaneously gave Eddie the cigarette back whilst thrusting his fingers in and out of your throbbing centre.
It felt so nice that you tilted your head back without realizing you did so. With bitten lips and a slightly frustrated whimper, you were about to respond. Instead, it was Eddie who spoke up first, looking at the both of you.
“Cool, it won’t be too crowded anyways. Maybe I’ll head out and find a costume,” Eddie said. It would be a lie to say he didn’t glance over to see the glistening arousal on Steve’s fingers.
“If you see a punch bowl then buy it, I think the one we have broke,” Steve said nonchalantly as he easily brought his other hand to your core and started to circle your clit.
The pleasure was becoming too much. The sound of both their voices was doing things to your body which were inexplicable. Adding the warmth of the blanket around you, you began to sweat with pure eroticism running through your veins. But, you weren’t about to orgasm in such an embarrassing situation, with a neighbour who always seemed to be on his last nerve around you.
“I can't do this,” you whispered. Steve stopped his movements and placed his hands on your thighs instead, looking at you with concern. “This is so embarrassing.”
“Eddie and I have walked in on each other dozens of times, it’s fine, doll.”
“It’s true,” the dealer admitted. “I’ll leave you two to it.”
“N-no,” you exclaimed. Closing your legs and turning your body towards Eddie’s.
Unsure of what came over your body, you bit your lip, looking between the two men. Your entire sex life has been filled with mediocre relations — men who just enjoyed the missionary position more than anything else. Even if you asked for a little bit of a change, the guys would pretend to be up for it. But, in the final minute, claim that the previous actions have worked before, so there was no need to try something new. But right now, your body is on fire in the best way possible. This was a situation that only your imagination could think of. But this wasn’t a fantasy, this was the realest your life has been thus far since moving into this apartment. The throbbing between your legs only solidified your feelings. However, you did want to get something out of the way first.
“Do you hate me more now?” You whispered to the curly-haired man before you.
“Why do you say that?” Eddie asked in return, leaning over the railing and placing a hand on your cheek.
“This is the most you’ve ever spoken around me, a-and it’s such a lewd act I’m in.” The words fell from your lips, tears welling up in your eyes slightly.
Steve noticed the nervousness exuding from your body, so he slowly drew soft circles on your thighs to comfort you. He knew that Eddie probably had a million thoughts in his head, but he wanted to hear it be said from the man himself.
“Oh, sweetheart, I don’t hate you,” Eddie wiped a tear from your cheek. “I-I—”
“Say it, Munson. Admit it already,” Steve teased. Eddie looked at him in a slight annoyance before looking at you again.
“What does he mean?” You asked sweetly.
“I-I want you. Fuck , I’ve always wanted you from the start. But you seemed so angelic, so untouchable. It pissed me off that you were so close yet I didn’t have the guts to talk to you.”
His words shocked you, so much so that you gasped and looked away from him. Your head turned towards Steve who gave you a sweet smile. The men before you seemed to read each other’s minds as they looked at you with a warmth that filled your body. For a moment, you pulled yourself away from Steve’s touch on your legs, and Eddie’s hand on your cheek and sat close to the corner of the couch. In that second of contemplation, you tried to listen to the millions of thoughts running through your brain.
However, it was Steve whose voice comforted you amongst your thoughts. “Are you alright, doll?”
All you could do was nod as a response.
“I’ll be going —” Eddie said as he finished his cigarette and put it out on the ground.
“N-no, stay here. Please, Eddie.” It came out as a desperate plea.
“You mean that, sweetheart?” The man asked you.
With a look in your eyes that told the world that you were so unsure of where the situation would go next, you looked towards Steve, who was kneeling next to you. He smiled at you so sweetly that you brought your face close to his and kissed him chastely. A moment later, you brought your body upwards, blanket still covering you, and sat up near Eddie’s figure.
“I mean it. I need you, the both of you,” the words were so filled with lust that it shocked the roommates.
Steve went to stand behind you, a hand grasping your hip and pushing you forwards slightly. With a soft whisper in your ear, he said, “you know exactly what you want to do next, don’t you, doll?” The man winked at his roommate before moving your hair to the side to kiss the back of your neck, his eyes still looking at you and Eddie.
And so, with a deep breath and a hand on the guitarist's cheek, you leaned forward by merely an inch. There was barely a need to move far as Eddie was meeting your halfway. The smell of tobacco filled your senses for a moment. But then, whether it was a gust of wind, Steve’s kiss upon your neck making you tingle, or you and Eddie’s bodies moving simultaneously — you kissed him. You kissed him so deeply that you moaned into the kiss as if it was something you have been longing for.
You have.
So has he.
So has Steve, but he was going to keep his perverted thoughts to himself for the next little while as he saw the way you were finding pleasure just through kisses. Also, if the way Eddie’s cheeks were blushing with each movement and touch your fingers laid upon his collarbone, he definitely was enjoying this just as equally.
“Look at you, doll, you look so pretty when you get what you want,” Steve teasingly whispered in your ear. “Needy girl.”
“Am not,” you pouted as you separated your lips from Eddie’s to look at the man behind you. “I just know what I like,” you giggled.
Steve chuckled with you as he took his turn to kiss you now. Eddie took the opportunity to jump the railing and find his way to the couch seat next to you. The man pushed the blanket down to expose your breasts to the cool-air again, taking a moment to admire the way they bounced every time you moved your head slightly to deepen the kiss you were sharing with his roommate.
“Fuck, they’re so perfect,” Eddie whispered loudly to himself.
“They’re so sore,” you teased, bringing a hand up to squeeze your right nipple. The pleasure from the pinch, as well as Steve’s lips leaving little love bites on the left side of your neck made you moan.
“Oh, I can definitely help you with that, sweet girl.” After the words left his mouth, Eddie brought himself closer to you. After going to kiss you once and winking at Steve in the process, he dove down to suck on your tits in a motion that caused you to lean forward to feel more of the pleasure.
You didn’t notice, however, the way your hips were grinding on the squished pillow that found its way beneath your thighs. Steve saw how you were riding your waves of ecstasy with all of the sensations you were feeling. He swears his cock couldn’t handle it now. So much so, that he leaned back from you to stroke his hardness through the fabric of his pants. Even the little bit of pressure made him moan alongside you now.
The noise made you turn around to see the way Steve’s cheeks reddened as he stared at you and Eddie like his own personal porno. “Having a hard time, Stevie?” Eddie teased between licks to your breasts.
“Fuck off, man. My doll looks so beautiful like this. I’ve been hard for hours.”
“Would you want some help with that?” you giggled as you pushed Eddie further onto the couch, nearly laying on top of him. All in order to bend over in front of Steve.
“Still so wet,” he said deeply, admiring the glistening arousal between your legs and the roundness of your bottom.
“Please, Steve. Your fingers felt so nice, but I want to be stretched out by something more,” you nearly whined.
Eddie was kissing your neck now, loving the way your voice sounded when you begged. “Come on, big boy. Looks like our girl can take it.”
“I’ll take you real nice,” Steve said as he stroked his fingers from your clit to your sopping hole. “Will you tell me if it becomes too much?”
In truth, this was the most exhilarating your have ever felt during a moment of sexual relations with another man, let alone two. Everything before this was so vanilla, that anything besides the usual seemed scary. However, this didn't. This made you want to experience pleasure whilst giving it simultaneously. Adding the fact that someone may see at any moment was causing waves of thrill and excitement to flow through your being. Steve must have seen the plethora of emotions in your eyes, as he was so hypnotized by them.
“I promise. Now, please,” you moaned while bringing your butt back to grind on Steve’s clothed-hardness. Even through the layers you could feel the heat emitting from it.
“Your wish is my command.” With that, he pushed his pants and started to tease your entrance with his tip.
Although you couldn’t see it as you looked back from your left shoulder, you could tell it was thick. So thick in fact, that even him spreading your folds was enough to make you whimper and giggle.
“He’s never had a complaint thus far,” Eddie whispered in your ear before kissing you again.
“Maybe I’ll give a review—oh,” you moaned into Eddie’s lips as Steve slowly entered your throbbing pussy.
“That’s it, taking me so well,” he said, thrusting into you at a slow but pleasurable pattern. Inch by inch, he swears that heaven was before his eyes. Seeing the way you held onto Eddie’s shoulders with a tighter grip made Steve smile with the amount of ecstasy you were feeling.
“F-faster, please, Steve. I h-haven’t felt this good in so long,” you nearly began to move your hips to meet with his thrusts. Desperately, achingly, you adored the way his cock felt inside you. Each throb was met with a new inch for you to get used to, and it was the easiest thing to fall in love with.
Before you could even take a breath after saying a sentence, Steve grabbed your hips tightly and began to rock into you faster and faster. Eddie looked at his roommate with pride, noting how entranced Steve looked as he fucked you deeper and deeper. Then, when the dealer looked at you, and the way you bit your lip and placed your head on his shoulder because of all the ecstasy you were experiencing — Eddie had never thanked the gods of fate more than he was right now. For some reason, he was feeling utterly horny beyond belief throughout the day and promised himself when he got home he would smoke a bit and indulge in some X-rated films and a squishy plastic toy. The fact that he got every green light on the way home, and his parking spot wasn’t taken by the annoying downstairs neighbour; it was like the universe wanted him to be home right on time to get a live show of you and Steve on the verge of fucking.
Now, as your body squished against Eddie’s, your thighs brushing against his hardness, he swears he could get off on only this.
“Can I suck you off, Eddie?” The words brought him out of his thoughts.
They were the best words to do so, too.
“Oh, my darling. You seem to be enjoying Stevie over here,” he kissed you as you moaned loudly, wanting to drink up your sounds.
“But, I need you too. My mouth feels s-so lonely.” You pouted as you brought your left hand down to place a trail of light touches from Eddie’s neck to his stomach then to his bulge beneath his jeans.
“He’s big, doll. Are you sure you can take our two cocks?” Steve leaned down to whisper in your ear as he continued to thrust into you.
“Yes, I can. I promise it’ll be alright,” you whimpered as you felt Steve throbbing within you, before turning your face to pout and say: “he’s so hard too.”
With a grip to Eddie’s hardness below, you stroked it through the denim to emphasize your point. When you finally got a moment to breathe, you looked down to see just how thick — and maybe even longer — Eddie was in comparison to his roommate. Just like Steve was doing before, you slightly drooled and looked at the rockstar’s member with hypnotized eyes.
“It’s a dream come true. Isn’t that right, Munson?” Steve teased as he went to straighten his back and continue thrusting into you.
“What do you mean?” you asked innocently. In truth, the possibility of Eddie dreaming about this moment made you clench slightly; the younger Harrington definitely felt it.
“I mean — fuck — he’s been waiting for you, doll.”
“Harrington, I swear to god,” the other man said through clenched teeth, due to both the pleasure of your hands and his roommate’s annoying mouth.
“Have you dreamed about me, Eddie?” You looked at the man in question now whilst biting your lip. “Pictured me just like this: fucked out in front of you?”
This was a look that neither man has seen in your eyes before: one that was filled with lust and teasing. Every time before this, you had such a serene and sweet look behind your eyes, with the remnants of a smile always lingering on your face. But this, this was as if you were a succubus on earth for the two roommates before you. The drool dripping from your lips was enough to solidify that thought. “Every night,” Eddie grunted.
“Your cock is so long,” you said with a whimper. “May I?”
“Please,” Eddie was able to say in his haze, right before you started to unzip his pants slowly. “Fuck, you’re such a good girl for me.”
The words made you throb harder on Steve’s cock as he thrusted into you, making you imagine the moment when the two roommates would switch places. The younger Harrington was staring at you both like he was watching his favourite film come to life. Even the words you were saying were right out of an erotic movie he saw the other day.
“Can I ride you one day?” You whispered to Eddie, kissing down his shaft slowly.
“You’re so needy,” Steve grunted. “Just the thought is making your pussy throb on me — unh, fuck ,” he moaned.
It’s true, getting a taste of Eddie made you throb slightly at pleasure of it all. Especially once you started to lick the head, tasting the precum and hearing the guitarist moan above you, you felt yourself throb around Steve harder and harder.
“Sweetheart, are you gonna be our good little fuck toy?” Eddie asked once you started to envelop your lips around his cock.
The image of you looking up at him and drooling over his hardness will be something ingrained in his mind forever. Then the humming got louder and louder as you nodded, causing vibrations to flow through Eddie’s cock. It felt so good that he tilted his head back slightly as you moaned on him, the warm and sucking sensation only making him get closer to the edge. After a moment he looked down to see that the source of your mouth’s vibrations weren’t just due to the fast pace Steve was thrusting into you; but it was also the fact that younger Harrington also was reaching down to circle his fingers in your clit.
You were so overwhelmed with pleasure that your hands took over now to squeeze Eddie’s hardness, all so you could whimper and moan loudly for both men to hear.
Here’s hoping the neighbours won’t complain tonight.
“Your mouth is so good, you know that?” Eddie said in a tone deeper than usual.
“I can take you deeper, use my throat, Eddie,” you looked up at him whilst moving your hips to meet with Steve’s. The pleasure was overtaking all of your bodies now.
“I wanna see you cum while you’re sucking my cock, can you do that for me?”
“Y-yes,” you nodded quickly, your hand stroking him faster out of pure eagerness.
Eddie smiled, nearly sinisterly. “Can you do that for me, Harrington?”
“We both know I can,” Steve grunted, moving faster into you.
In truth, he was so happy that Eddie said those words. Steve swears he was about to combust at any moment, but he was just waiting for you to find the climax of your pleasure. He was only praying that he would last longer. However, with the way you were throbbing so beautifully on him, nearly glowing with ecstasy, Steve wanted to see the climax of it all. “That’s it, pretty girl,” Steve teased, he knew exactly what you needed to bring you closer and closer to the edge. “You look so pretty with two cocks in you. This is what you wanted, huh?”
“Yes, yes, every night I think about it,” a loud groan fell from your lips as you responded, Steve’s cock hitting you from an angle that was hitting your sweet spot over and over. Then, Eddie was the one who felt the remnants of your pleasure — with your hands and mouth going back to milking his own hardness in the process.
“Looks like we’re all on the same page. The amount of times I’ve imagined fucking you on this balcony. You look so pretty when you’re reading here in your little shorts.”
Who knew the exhibitionist bug within Steve rubbed off on you in more ways than one?
“Keep going, Steve,” Eddie moaned as he gripped your hair with his right hand. “I think she’s close. Sweetheart loves to hear how pretty and fuckable she is.”
“Feels nice,” you whispered quickly before going back to suck harder.
“Oh yeah? You should hear about Eddie’s little escapades about you, doll.”
All you could do was tilt your head whilst The guitarist was still inside your mouth. Eddie got the hint as he looked into your eyes, his hardness thrusting deeper and deeper into your throat slowly as he spoke. “Every time I see you in the hallways I swear I can’t control myself. I feel like such a perv with the dreams that float through my head.”
The man barely had a moment to savour the feeling of being fully into your mouth now, because you released him quickly to tease. “Wanna make them come true one day?” You asked with a wink.
“One of them already is, sweetheart,” Eddie smiled, noting the way your legs began to tremble as Steve continued to circle your clit again whilst hitting the soft spot within you with his cock.
“Now how about you cum for us to really make this dream one to remember?” the man behind you said.
“Faster,” you nodded, accepting his challenge.
“Good girl.”
The words were echoing through the air, but you weren’t sure who said it. In truth, it could have been both of them. The roommates were so prone to playing off of each other, seeing what exactly the third person liked and enjoyed. Most of them adored it when one of them was sweet whilst the other was slightly degrading. Some wanted them both to be a little mean. But then there was you, who enjoyed the feeling of being praised and teased like such a good girl for them. So with the words echoing in your head, of different compliments which bordered the line of perversion each time — you swear that the pleasure you’ve been feeling had been turned up a thousand times. On one hand, Steve was doing such a good job on you: thrusting back and forth into your throbbing hole, whilst bending down to circle your nub. The stretch was everything you needed after such a long time of being single and busy with life. From behind you, he would whisper just loud enough for you to hear.
“Such a sweet girl for me, huh? So tight and wet for us,” he would chant like a prayer — a prayer to the gods who were probably looking down upon this scene from the starry sky. Steve was nearly thanking them for putting him in this moment where he was able to see how you nodded in response upon Eddie’s cock, and then feeling your pussy throb below as you reacted to the little compliment.
Then, there was Eddie, who was doing such a wonderful job stroking your hair lovingly as you looked up at him. Now it was your turn to give the pleasure, noticing how Eddie would thrust his own hips upwards into your mouth every time you squeezed his balls with the right amount of pressure. He also adored the way your moans would vibrate through his own body every time you felt good. So the guitarist used his skilled fingers to reach down and use one hand to twist your lonely nipples. The way you would moan and whimper was felt on him ten-fold. With a light grip on the side of your hair, he would help you swallow more and more of his cock: his main goal wanting to feel your ecstasy.
“If we knew you were so horny, these holes would have had a lot of fun by now,” Eddie teased as he saw your eyes start to roll back a little. “Come for us, sweetheart.”
With that, Eddie looked at the way you nodded up at him with pleasure-filled tears in your eyes. Your climax was so close now as your moans became louder and the grip on Eddie’s shaft tightened.
Eddie looked up at Steve with a smile, knowing that his roommate was close to the edge as well. And so, Steve circled your clit faster and faster — the movement making your pussy throb. It wasn’t until you gave one hard suck on Eddie, tasting his cum, while Steve massaged your nub at the right angle that it happened. You felt the orgasm take over your entire body in an instant; it was like a vibration that you didn’t know how to control. It was evident to everyone on the balcony that your climax was extremely overwhelming. You were arching your back more, creating another angle for Steve to thrust into you. All while you had to let go of Eddie, who was inside of your mouth, in order to release your moans to the world. Your hands continued to stroke his hardness until you saw that his hot tip was ready. With a slightly open mouth, you looked up at the man to show him you were ready to taste his cum too.
“Are you boys gonna cum for me too?” You teased sweetly. It was enough for both men to finally let go from the pent up ecstasy they were feeling.
You were so beautiful, taking the creamy liquid everywhere. Moans filled your ears as both men thrust deeply inside of you; at the same time, you were being filled from two different holes as the men fell deeply in love with the feeling of your warmth. For all three of you to ride out your orgasms so sweetly, was the most erotic part of it all. With the situation nearly looking like it was out of a painting as all three of you took a few moments to bask in the evening breeze, a blanket intertwined between your bodies, and sweat glistening upon your skin.
Both men looked at you with adoration, noting how you were glowing as you relaxed your body. Just as Eddie pulled out of your mouth first, grabbing one of the leftover napkins from dinner to wipe away at your mouth, he noticed how you had swallowed nearly all of it.
You really were such a good girl , he thought but didn’t say aloud as he wiped your mouth that was covered in saliva.
Then, Steve took his softening cock out of you, taking a moment to admire the creamy fluid in between your legs. He pushed your skirt down to cover you up and whispered, “are you alright?”
“I’m fine, thank you, Steve.” Your voice was tired out — mainly from all the moaning and whimpering you were just doing. The serene sound will never leave the men’s thoughts.
“I hope we weren’t too rough on you,” Eddie sweetly chuckled whilst pulling you up to move your body and have you sit comfortably on the couch.
“Not at all,” you giggled sweetly as you sat closer to the guitarist. “It was quite fun.”
The giddiness in your voice was apparent as you smiled to yourself. Steve adored how you became slightly shy, even after all of the lewd acts you three have committed on this balcony. He would do anything to continue seeing the heat rush to your face, even in the coldest of weather. Just as he sat down on the couch, leaving you in between both men, Eddie continued to tease.
“Yeah? Looks like we gave you a nice housewarming gift.”
“Maybe we gotta christen every part of the apartment — it would only be right,” Steve said whilst smoothing the blanket over your thighs.
“Is he always this kinky?” You questioned towards Eddie now, with a chuckle in your voice.
“Oh yeah, sometimes if I know he invited this one girl over, I don’t go to the apartment for a few days so the smell of sex can leave the air,” Eddie groaned jokingly, putting an arm around you.
Honestly, you do remember the way you heard a patterned noise that sounded really similar to a headboard hitting a wall, alongside moans and laughter. Your innocent mind genuinely thought that Steve was watching a funny movie with a date — not, well, you know . “That explains why you didn’t come the other weekend. I thought you hated me. Who knew it was because Steve is so horny.”
“Hey, I didn’t bring you two together to gossip about me,” Steve gasped in disbelief as he saw the way you and Eddie had quickly gotten past the phase of awkwardness.
“But it’s fun,” you pouted, moving over so your cheek could rest on Steve’s broad shoulder.
“There’s definitely something more fun than this that I could think of,” Steve teased, looking in his roommate’s direction
“Maybe we could —” you paused as you looked between both men, fearful that you looked too eager.
But, they seemed to admire the excitement in your eyes, looking at one another before focusing their gazes on your figure which was sinking into the couch. A teasingly sinister smile crept up on Eddie’s face as he touched your thigh softly. “We could do what, sweetheart?”
“Maybe we can head inside? It’s so cold now,” you giggled, shivers running through your body.
Luckily for you, warmth ran through your body, shooting straight to your heart amongst the cool autumn breeze overtook your senses now. No other moment in your life has ever made you feel so exhilarated like this. Just as Eddie placed a chaste kiss on your lips, whilst Steve teased his mouth over your neck — a million thoughts ran through your brain. Then, when you felt a hand reach under the blanket and touch the soft skin of your thighs, one thought became louder than the rest:
Maybe, just maybe, moving into a new apartment during the month of October was a good idea after all.

Ive been an awful good girl
This is part of my 12 days of fics
Pairings: Dom!Carol Danvers x Sub!Fem!Reader
Warnings: pet play, strap on sex, rough sex, mommy kink, reader is referred to as puppy.
Summary: in which you beg Carol for something on your Christmas list
For as long as you and Carol have been dating, you’ve wanted her to be rough with you. And you’ve always wanted to try pet play. You’ve looked on certain websites at different collars and leashes made for that kind of stuff.
Carol has been iffy about it since she doesn’t wanna hurt you. But of course she’s secretly into the idea. The thought of you on your knees with a collar around your neck, her tugging the leash as you suck on her strap.
So, one day -a couple days before Christmas Eve- you pranced into her office. All the avengers have their own offices in the tower for their specific work and meetings and such.
“Hi, Carol.” You chirped, leaning over her desk to kiss her. The two of you were left a little breathless. Then you spoke up, sitting on the edge of her desk with your bare thigh peaking out of your skirt. You noticed the way her eyes lingered on your body before looking into your eyes. “So…Christmas is coming up soon.”
“Yes it is, darling.”
“And I was wondering if you put any thought into what I want this year?”
“Y/n, we’ve talked about this. I don’t want to hurt you. And I don’t know if you are interested in the pet play dynamic.”
“I wouldn’t have asked if I wasn’t interested. Besides, if it gets too much I’ll tell you to stop. Just please think about it? I’ve been an awful good girl haven’t I?” you gave her your best puppy dog eyes and she sighed, “Okay. But don’t bother me about it again Y/n.”
“Ok mommy.” You beamed before quickly hopping off the desk and rushing out of the room. “Ugh, Y/n! You can’t just say things like that!” She called after you but to no avail, you didn’t hear her.
-Christmas Day-
You woke up to the feeling of the blonde kissing you awake. “Mmm morning baby.” You moaned.
“Morning, sweetheart. I thought I’d give you your Christmas present now. It’s not one I can give to you around the others.” You furrowed your brows but nodded, sitting up and watching Carol grab a box wrapped in red and white striped paper.
She handed it to you and you grabbed it from her, looking into her eyes for permission and the captain nodded. You teared open the paper and opened the box to find a collar and a leash. You looked at her with shocked eyes.
Your girlfriend smirked, “I figured we’d have a little fun before we open presents.”
“Yes please!” You squealed.
You stripped down, and so did Carol. You watched as she put on her strap. You were on your knees in front of her. “Ok puppy, let mommy put your collar on.”
She fastened the collar around your neck. “Not too tight?” The captain asked.
“Not too tight.” You confirmed.
Carol smiled and attached the leash onto your collar. “Puppy, what do you wanna do now?” She decided since it’s your first time doing something like this that she’d give you control on what you do.
You thought for a moment before saying “Mmm…I want to suck your strap please.”
“Aww yeah? Puppy wants a treat?” The blonde teased and you nodded, your slick dripping down your thighs.
She stood up and walked closer to you, moving her cock towards your mouth. You immediately began to suck on it. Your girlfriend pulled the leash as you bobbed your head.
“So pretty like this. Such a good pet.” Carol crooned, petting your hair with her other hand.
You sucked her off for a while before pulling off of her.
“Mommy, I’m so wet I need-“ you were cut off by a sharp slap to your cheek.
“Good puppies don’t talk unless spoken to. Got that?” You nodded. “Good. Now what do you need pretty girl?”
“I need your cock. I need you to fuck me deep inside and don’t be gentle please!” In an instant you were on the bed on all fours, Carol teasing the tip of her strap against your leaking folds.
Without warning she pushed in harshly and didn’t waist any time to start thrusting hard and fast, pulling your leash.
“Oh fuck mommy! So good!” You cried as she constantly hit your spot.
“Taking me so good baby! Fuck!” She groaned snapping her hips to yours.
You felt yourself getting closer and closer to your climax. “M’so close mommy! Please let me cum!”
“Fuck baby, go ahead and cum.”
You clenched around her cock and moaned when you felt your release.
Your girlfriend pulled out of you and pulled you to lay on her chest. “How was that baby?” The blonde asked.
“So good, mommy.”

Telling JJ you’re pregnant? 🥹
omg omg omg i think about dad!jj so fucking much
"this is the longest three minutes of my life," sarah huffs, the picture of her pacing up and down her bathroom playing on your phone.
you unfold the instructions manual that came in the box, "not long left now," you reassure quietly, "what if it comes up positive?"
sarah sighs loudly, stopping in front of the camera, "tell john b i guess, then go from there?" she runs a stressed hand through her hair, "what about you?"
a laugh escapes you, "mines gonna be negative" you'd only agreed to do a test because sarah didn't want to do one on her own, "i think you and john b will have cute babies" you giggle
the timer rings through your speaker, "ready?" sarah swallows thickly and you nod, reaching blindly behind you to grab the test off of the windowsill, "negative!" sarah calls out as you turn the test in your hand
"oh fuck," you whisper, shooting off of the counter, "shit, fuck, fuck" you ramble, holding the test up to the light, though it doesn't change the plus sign staring back at you
"what?" sarah asks, appearing back into view. you look at her but your words fail you so you hold the test up, "oh shit," she slaps a hand over her mouth
silence falls as you stare between your phone and the test. you grab the paper and unfold it again, scanning over it. sarah had bought you both some fancy, expensive tests, the accuracy being a high, 99.9%
"what the fuck am i going to tell jj?" you hiss, turning in the room trying to figure out what to do with the box. you throw it into the cupboard above the sink, praying jj doesn't go in there
she hums, "surprise, i’m pregnant?" she says with a wince, regretting her words when you glare at her, "right, not funny yet, sorry"
in the distance you hear jj working on his bike, "should i tell him, like, now?" you ask and sarah nods, "fuck, okay, i'll text you after" swiping your phone from the counter, you hang up after sarah calls out a quick 'i love you'
you tuck the test into your back pocket and pull your hoodie down over it, hiding it before leaving the bathroom. "j, baby?" you call out of the open kitchen window and your boyfriend turns, "can you come in for a second?"
jj jogs towards the shack, rubbing his hands on his bandana as he hops up the stairs and into the room, "what's up pretty girl?" he asks before kissing you quickly
he watches as you pull yourself up onto the counter, leaning slightly to one side so you don't sit on the test, "uh, right, so you know how sarah thought she was pregnant?" you ask
"yeah, you told me i wasn't allowed to say anything to john b" jj frowns at you, "which i didn't!" he adds with his hands up, thinking you’re accusing him
"i know you didn't angel," you chuckle, "but anyway, so sarah didn't want to take a test on her own, so i did one with her, okay?" you talk slowly, delicately
"okay?" jj repeats, confused. he crosses his arms over his chest and moves to lean back against the counter, his eyes scanning your face as he does
you suck in a deep breathe, your body running hot, "right, well the thing is, her test came back negative bu-"
jj runs his hand through his hair and cuts you off, "so she's not pregnant?"
"no," you confirm, "but, baby, mine came back positive" you stare at your boyfriend, his hand stopping in his hair
he waves his hand around, his mouth opening and closing while he tries to process what you’ve said, “what?” he finally comes up with after a minute
“i’m pregnant,”
“see, yeah that’s what i thought you meant,” jj puffs his cheeks out, “you’re serious?” he checks
you pull the test from your pocket and put it on the counter, showing it to him, he squints, eyebrows raising when he sees the large plus sign in the middle of it
“oh my god!” he shouts, “we’re gonna have a baby” he lunges forward, wrapping his arms around your waist. he pulls you off of the counter and spins you both around, peppering kisses over your cheeks
“you’re happy?” you ask, hands cupping his face gently, thumbs ghosting over his cheeks “like, you’re not mad or angry?”
he kisses you soft and slowly, hands squeezing at your thighs, “so, so happy, a little us” he hums, “i’d only be angry if it wasn’t mine, it is mine, right?”
you shove at his shoulder and wriggle out of his arms until you’re standing in front of him, “no it’s actually rafe’s, sorry you had to find out this way” you shrug
jj gawps at you, his face slowly turning into a smile, his dimple popping, “ha ha, you’re so funny!” he dips to kiss you once and then swipes his keys off of the side
“where are you going?” you ask, titling your head at him. he grabs the test and starts to walk towards the door, looking down at the test. he holds the door open and turns to you
“we are going to tell the others that they’re gonna be aunts and uncles, cmon” he states like it’s obvious, like you should’ve known exactly what he was doing
you rush out of the shack and into the twinkie, which is on loan because of jj’s broken bike. you smile to yourself as you listen to jj rambling over the radio
talks of decorating, making a nursery out of his dad’s old room. listing baby names and things you’ll need and you can’t help but notice the way he doesn’t go a little over the speed limit and he actually stops for red lights, the whole way there.
fun fact; this is exactly how my sister found out she was pregnant the first time, she did a test as a joke so her friend didn’t have to do it alone and now i have an 11 month old niece 😂😭
thanks for reading! remember to like! reblog! and comment! i’ll give you a kiss if you do, mwah ily !! send prompts to my ask box!

What are some of your favorite skins you've made?
I thought about the answer to this question for a very long time. I want to tell you a story about a skin that broke the site.
(I think this has been fixed now, which is the only reason I'm posting about it.)
Up until around March of this year, skin names weren't sanitized. I wasn't aware of this and continued to be unaware of this until the day I asked for my Valentine's pearlcatcher skins (named <3 and </3 respectively) to be renamed. Special characters often break when you submit them through the queue, so you have to go and ask the mods in the skroblems thread to fix apostophes for you so they display properly. I went and asked them to fix my pearlcatcher skin's names for me, since they weren't displaying correctly either. This lead, by accident, to the most interesting way I've gotten the site to break in a while.
My friend noticed first when they got a subscribed notification to my skin shop thread. They realized there were two pages that were completely gone.
Then they realized that the front page didn't look right either. My catalogue posts had completely vanished. Only to find... when you hovered over the thumbnail of the </3 skin's icon, my posts had hopped into the item description.
We experimented a little more before realizing this thing was... very, very powerful! You could put the skin into a den tab description, and it would put every single dragon in that tab into the space of the description box. You could break your userpage for ANYBODY on site. Your entire dragon could get swallowed up if you put it into their bio. And because the skin deleted the edit button, you couldn't get it back out.
Little did I know, the </ part of the skin name - when posted using [skin=skinid] or [item=skin: </3] - would act as an HTML tag anywhere it was posted, and completely mess up how the site displayed! I compiled everything I found and sent it into the bug forums and the contact team box for review. The thread got deleted almost immediately, confirming what I suspected: skin names aren't sanitized, and this could very easily be exploited with malicious intentions or SQL injects.
Luckily, they fixed it pretty quickly! I hope the way the site handles skin names has been updated now too. This sort of thing wouldn't have happened even if I had named the skin </3 or, god forbid, dropTable(); in the first place. I do think it was because I had the mods go in and edit the skin name that allowed the unclosed </ to display in the skin's item icon and then break the site.
So that's the story of one of my favorite skins I've made! <3 and </3 are now LOVE and LOVE(LESS) respectively. The designs themselves didn't sell too well, but for a glorious 16 hours, they contained all the power of little nuclear bombs detonating on various HTML-dependent sitepages.
#flight rising#skins and accents#flightrising#my stuff#asks#if any staff see this and need me to take it down because it contains information about a former site exploit... lmk

Not Just Mates Anymore
“Tell me it’s not my fault.” Sherlock looking to John and raised a knowing brow, as Mycroft entered the flat unannounced as always.
“It’s not your fault.” Mycroft responded glibly, before John could.
“He lies.” John pointed at the elder Holmes.
“Of course I lie.” Mycroft rolled his eyes as he took a seat on the couch and looked at his brother.
John raised his own brow at Mycroft’s serious expression. “Should I leave?”
“No, you’ll find out anyway.” Sherlock and Mycroft spoke nearly in unison.
The brothers gave similar sniffs of chagrin at the proof of one of the ways they are alike as John grinned in amusement.
“The isolated man who does not mind being different; who does not know that he is lonely.” Mycroft smiled ironically.
John remained silent understanding there a story he did not know behind it, as Sherlock gave a slight nod in acknowledgement of words spoken long ago as Mycroft continued.
“In the end, I really was obvious, wasn’t I? I was textbook: the hidden pain of isolation, the slow joy of realizing there someone who understood; the unexpected craving of friendship and then... more…” He smiled again, but sweetly this time “... and you slowly pushed and watched as I even more slowly fell. Oh, it is absolutely your fault, Brother Mine, and I thank you.”
“Oh, I admit, I drove him into your path.” Sherlock conceded, “Because you were too stupid to take the wheel on your own.” Sherlock gave Mycroft a look that dared him to gainsay his words, knowing he could not.
“Ah…” John smiled as it all came to him. “You’re not asking for his blessing – you know you have it. May we see it…?”
“Et tu…?” Mycroft grumbled. “Can nothing be secret with you?”
“Yes, his fault also.” Sherlock gestured to John, “Without him I never would have realized I could push.”
“Definitely your fault, Sherlock.” John took the jeweler’s box Mycroft held out. John whistled at the ring inside: rugged, understated and yet lovely to the eye – much like its imminent recipient. “I did not imagine this.”
He handed the box to Sherlock who made an impressed sound before he handed it back to his brother.
“Realizing I was falling for him was a miracle, realizing he was falling for me was a blessing. I know what you did, but why Sherlock?”
“Honestly, all I hoped for you was a solid friendship, Mycroft. Someone else you could implicitly trust. Who wouldn’t have it out for you or want anything from you but mutual respect. Because as John, by some fortuitous miracle, learned with me…” Sherlock winked sat his husband, “Greg learned to see past the ice façade and see you. In turn, you saw that he is a strong man, a patient man – he’d have to be to deal with either of us, let alone both – Greg is an intelligent man who knows his worth, he is a good man and he sees that you are one as well. Still, I am not Eros, Anteros, or heaven forbid Himeros – the subsequent falling was all yours.”
“I know of Anteros, but Himeros? Which god is that?” John asked.
“God of sexual desire, the twin brother of Eros and for my brother…” Sherlock smirked when Mycroft quickly hid the jeweler’s box and stood, “… the one coming up the stairs…”
John grinned as a familiar trod was heard before an even more familiar face was seen. “Hey, Greg.”
“Hey, John, Sherlock.” Greg appeared sat the door. “Evenin’ luv, I heard ‘…the one coming up the stairs...’ do I want to know?”
“Not really.” Mycroft gave John and Sherlock dirty looks.
“Sorry mates, hate to come and go, but I took a taxi and traffic’s a beast. If you have reservations somewhere for six or seven, Mycroft we should hop to now…” Greg gestured to the steps.
Mycroft looked at his pocket watch and headed towards Greg, “Let us quickly depart then.”
“So smooth, Brother Mine – what’s the rush?” Sherlock teased.
“Yes,” John chimed in, “wasn’t there a question you wanted to ask him…?”
“Oh no, I know that tone of voice. I don’t know what’s going on, but on THAT note we’re out.” a knowing Greg took Mycroft’s arm and quickly ushered him out. “Later mates.”
“Right, mates…” John laughed as the two left.
“I know…” Sherlock waited until he heard the downstairs door close. “…wait until Greg learns we’re soon about in-laws and not just mates anymore.”

In the special, why emonette couldn't make a wish? Was it because of Supreme leader?
hello october anon, i'm very sorry for the delay i've had such a time but believe me when i say toxigriffe hasn't left my brain. i'm about to give you so much more of an answer to what you asked (but dw there will be pictures)
so it looks like whatever seal plikki have on their mouths does belong to the supreme. and it appears that even in their true forms this seal still lasts.
and it's not just a block either. it seems like resisting actually hurts plikki, like a shock collar.
and then right after marinette makes the wish, the seal appears again beneath her feet.
whatever power the supreme has, it's more powerful than the wish. but what could have made the supreme so powerful to begin with? my theory is this: the supreme got a hold of the ladybug and black cat miraculous (maybe even the whole miracle box) and made a wish. we don't know what it was, but it seems that there's evidence enough to back up the inclusion of the clause that no one can supercede their wish. that's what makes them the supreme.
lets take a look at what the miracle box looks like in fu and then marinette's possesion:
and then here's the supreme's (from the intro), complete with their symbol and everything:
doesn't it look like the symbol of the order of the guardians?? just with an x superimposed over it??? and since fu had the lb & bc miraculouses at the start of the series, maybe this miracle box that the supreme acquired as the guardian also had those miraculous. that's how toxigriffe ended up getting their proper miraculous in the paris special!!
i think the intro is telling us a story of what happened, actually. first, the supreme got a hold of the miracle box. next, they made a wish. (i assume it's an image of the wish, given what the wish looked like in re-creation)
the image splits into hexagons, with the one with the wish happening forming in the center. i'm guessing all those other hexagons are parallel worlds, and this world in the center is the one the supreme became the supreme of
then we get an image of this person, who i assume is the supreme, given the giant x they are standing in front of - the same symbol that blocks the guardian insignia on the box and on plikki's mouths. like all the fractured worlds featured in the previous image, the supreme stands in the midst of fractured pieces of what looks like glass.
maybe all the shards represent worlds the supreme has tried to take over before, but failed to. maybe they are all the worlds the supreme has conquered already. or maybe the broken mirrors are meant to parallel the supreme to poor emonette, whose misuse of her powers (under the supreme's threat of her life) have fractured her body and soul.
but unlike emonette, the supreme doesn't have the miraculous of creation. the supreme isn't the girl who can fix anything.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, YOU WANNA KNOW WHO I THINK IT IS? (you know who i think it is!!)
to begin with, we get this sneak peek of the supreme's suit. those colors are unmistakeably purple and gray (and green but idk why that's there).
who know who else would have a purple suit?
YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE HAS AN X SHAPE?
YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END OF RE-CREATION?
YOU KNOW WHO CAN GRANT UNIVERSE-HOPPING POWERS??????
the person with the butterfly miraculous, that's who.
maybe there's a reason the supreme wants the butterfly back so badly. the toxigriffe universe is a universe where the supreme doesn't have a complete miracle box after all. at least, it was when we left off.
but maybe s6 will change that.

Chestnuts Roasting
Author's Note: Hi again! Part 2 of my holiday fics is here! For this one, I got several requests for decorating a Christmas tree with Danny and one for some fluffy, romantic sex by the fireplace. I hope I did them justice. Josh and Sam are left so if you have any requests for either of them, please don't hesitate to send them to me! As always, if you see any typos... no you didn't.
Content Warnings: Unprotected p in v sex, just a tee tiny bit of angst if you squint (some talk about feeling insecure) but mostly just fluff.
Word Count: 2921
⍋⍋⍋⍋⍋⍋⍋⍋⍋
“This one!” You excitedly point to the largest tree in the row.
Danny looks over to where you’re pointing, a large smile on his face.
“The biggest one you could find, huh?” He asks you, amusement evident in his tone.
You’d begged for days for Danny to take you out here to pick out a tree. Danny, having grown up in Frankenmuth where Christmas is so prevalent all the time, is often a little lacking in the holiday spirit. You’ve heard him say time and time again that for him it’s just “not that special anymore” and that he’s perfectly content to forgo most of the holiday traditions that most people adore. But after he’d come to learn just how much you love Christmas – how much you love listening to Christmas music and decorating and doing all of the stereotypical Christmas stuff, he’d been a little more willing to do it all with you. Afterall, he’s said that doing it with you made it far more special than it had been when he was growing up in Michigan.
So here you both are, bundled up in your warmest clothes and walking hand and hand through the rows and rows of trees. Your own little winter wonderland.
“Of course! Go big or go home, babe.” You wave over at one of the workers, beckoning him over to show him which tree you want.
“And when there’s no room on top for a star you’re gonna regret it.” Danny laughs, though the fondness in his eyes is still more than evident. In fact, it’s only grown after your pick in trees.
“Nah. There’ll be room.” You tell him, keeping a watchful eye as the worker cuts down the beautiful tree. “It’s gonna be perfect.”
“I’m sure it will.” Danny says before pressing a sweet kiss to your cheek, his lips a warm relief from the bite of the cold winter air.

The tree was in fact just a bit too large. The top of the tree was just barely smushed into the ceiling but Danny had been kind enough to not say anything about it. And as you began to decorate, a Christmas song playlist filtering through softly, Danny watched you fondly from his place on the couch.
“You’re a great help there, Danny.” You say sarcastically, hooking another ornament on the tree.
“Here.” Danny’s voice appears, his head leaning down to your ear and his hand finding the small of your back. “Let me.” He takes the ornament from your grasp and hooks it high up on the tree near the top.
“I’m moral support, babe.”
You roll your eyes, standing on your tiptoes to reach up on the tree where there weren’t as many ornaments. You can’t quite reach. You hop a bit, reaching your arms up as high as they can go but it’s still not quite where you want it.
“Thanks” You breath out, his proximity making you blush a little bit. No matter how long the two of you have been together, you still find that he can make you blush and your heart pound just like he had at the beginning of your relationship.
“Hand me another one.” He says sweetly, and you blindly reach into the box that you use for Christmas storage and pull out the first one that your fingers find.
As you hand it to Danny, you both smile at the sight of the ornament that he had given you for your first Christmas together. It’s beautiful. A sheer glass snowflake, the edges cut so that it mimics diamond. It’s a delicate thing that you remember being completely in awe of when he gifted it to you. You had admired it in a store once while you and Danny had been shopping for gifts for friends and family and you had refrained from buying it at the time for the sake of only spending money on gifts for others. But Danny had gone back and bought it for you.
“It’s my favorite one.” You tell him, watching as he hangs it carefully.
“It’s very pretty.” He smiles, taking the next ornament from you.
“Even prettier because you gave it to me.”
This time, it’s Danny who blushes. It’s barely there but you can just make it out under the glow of the white lights from the tree.
“I’m glad you like it. I was so stressed trying to find you a gift that year.”
Your heart warms at the thought of him putting so much effort into just one gift. It makes you smile to think back to that Christmas. You and Danny had only just begun dating some two months before, and though you’d been smitten with him from the very start, you had also been worried about what to buy him. It’s a comforting thought to know that he had gone through the exact same thing.
“Why?”
“Well,” he starts, voice soft and buttery, “it was our first holiday season together and I wanted it to be something you would really like. But I also didn’t want to go overboard since we’d only been together for a few months. I didn’t want to scare you off or something by getting something too expensive.”
“You wouldn’t have scared me off.” You tell him, handing him one of the last ornaments. “I was worried about the same thing to be completely honest.”
Danny turns to face you, his curls framing his face so beautifully that you have a hard time not staring.
“The gift you got me was so perfect, Y/n. One of the best I’ve ever gotten.”
Your eyes widen just a bit.
“Really?”
You’d gifted him a leather bound journal with gold embossed pages and a tree of life stamped into the cover. It had been for the purpose of writing down his songs and lyrics that he came up with.
“Really.” He says, smiling down at you fondly. “I still have it, you know. I’ve filled up all the pages but I like to keep it so I can read the note that you wrote on the inside.”
Your brows furrow as you try and remember what you wrote that he considers so special but you can’t remember. It had just said “Merry Christmas” and your name signed at the bottom. Nothing entirely extraordinary or profound. You had wanted to keep it simple back then.
“Why? I don’t think I wrote much in it.”
“No. But at the end,” he steps closer, his hands finding your waist and holding softly. “You wrote: I Love You at the bottom before signing your name. We’d said ‘I love you’ before but… I don’t know. I guess seeing it written down for the first time felt special.” He shrugs, looking slightly embarrassed. “I guess it was just nice to know that even though we weren’t face to face, you still felt that way and wanted to write it down. I had always worried that maybe you only said it back because I said it first.”
Silence falls for a long moment and you feel as though your heart might melt. Danny – despite always being the one to care for others… despite always being the nurturer and the caretaker, sometimes doubts his place in his loved one’s hearts. Though his physical appearance and the confidence that he seems to always carry hides it, there’s a deep feeling of insecurity and doubt way down in his heart. Not something that he would ever openly admit or seek reassurance on, but there nonetheless. It had taken a long time for you to even see it. And to think that he’d been afraid that you were only saying ‘I love you’ back to him because he said it first… it makes your heart ache for him.
“Danny…” You murmur, reaching up to place your hands on his cheeks, “I’m pretty sure that I fell in love with you the first time that I met you. Of course I always meant it. I still do.”
He smiles widely, though there’s a mist to his eyes now.
“I know that now. I just needed more reassurance back then.”
That makes you frown as guilt swirls through your chest.
“I’m sorry I didn’t give it to you.”
“No!” He says suddenly, shaking his head fiercely. “You did. That note, your actions, everything that you did reassured me. And you still do. Every single day.”
You smile and lift yourself up on your tippy toes to place a kiss on his lips.
“I love you.” You murmur.
“Love you more."

The weather had only managed to get worse and worse as time went on. Where once the sky had been a snowy gray, now was only a blanket of clouds. 4:30 and night is already beginning to fall as the wind and snow picks up.
“Damn.” Danny mutters, the house itself seeming to shake thanks to the powerful gusts of wind. “Happy first snowstorm of the season.” He jokes, his back to you as he gazes out the window into the dusk-lit lawn.
“I was hoping for a bonfire out back tonight but…” You come to stand beside him at the window, taking in the snowfall on the ground. “I don’t think that’s going to be happening tonight.”
Danny nods, shoving his hands into the pockets of his dark jeans.
“Don’t think so.” He affirms. “We could at least get the fireplace going in here.”
“That sounds lovely.”
You watch as Danny works to light the fireplace, a warm, comfy glow immediately descending over the room. Danny looks gorgeous in the flickering light of the flames and you don’t hesitate to tell him so.
“You look pretty incredible, too.” Is his answer as he sinks into the leather sofa next to you.
His eyes glitter in the dim light. His lips – plump and pink, stretch wide in a smile. He’s the picture of beauty sitting there next to you.
As the fire rages on, you shiver – the coldness from outside seeping through to give you a chill.
“Cold?” Danny asks quietly, scooting closer to you.
“Just a little.”
He grins, though this time there’s a playful glint in his eye.
“Bet I can warm you up.”
You sigh and roll your eyes.
“Really?” You ask him, leaning backwards into the arm of the sofa and looking up at him through your lashes. “That was like… Wattpad worthy, babe.” Even still, you reach upwards to grab his broad shoulders and use your grip on him to pull him down on top of you. His lips are so close that you could easily lean up and kiss him.
“What can I say? I’m just really smooth.” He winks and presses a kiss to your jaw, then another beneath your ear.
“You’re a dork.” You laugh, though your breath still hitches when his teeth sink into your ear lobe. Unable to resist him, you spread your legs a bit so that you can hook them behind his back and pull him in closer. His curls tickle your face but you barely notice them thanks to the feeling of his half-hard cock pressing into your groin.
Danny hums, his lips continuing to explore down your throat. He nips the sensitive skin before soothing it with a kiss before moving on down to your collarbone. His hands, large and strong, grasp your hips softly. That’s one thing that you love about him. Despite his strength, he still touches and holds you with the utmost care. Reverence, really.
“Danny.” You whine, arching slightly into him. Your arousal is growing like a wildfire, engulfing you with want for the man on top of you.
“I know.” He murmurs, drawing away to slide your pants and panties down your legs, letting you kick them off. “Can I taste you, love?”
You nod, breathless and not trusting your voice.
Slowly, teasingly, he licks over you – the tip of his tongue sweeping through your folds before swirling your clit. Your hand drops to his head without conscious thought, your fingers lacing through his curls and tugging. A deep rumble sounds from his chest at the slight sting to his scalp.
“Shittt.” Your back arches as his tongue flicks your swollen bud once again and he smiles into your heat at the way you squirm beneath him. “Fuck, Danny.”
The speed of his tongue increases and then, without warning, he sinks a finger into you, curling upwards the way he knows you love. He’s relentless, seemingly intent on bringing you to finish as quickly as he possibly can.
Your veins feel like they’re full of liquid fire as the band in your belly tightens and your cries begin to grow louder. The raging storm outside only serves to barely muffle your exclamations of pleasure. With one last curl of Danny’s finger and a deliberate flick of his tongue on your aching mound, your orgasm overtakes you. That fire in your belly spreads, warming you all over as he coaxes you through your release.
“I’ll never grow tired of that.” Danny murmurs, licking his lips clean of your release as he glances up at you. He smiles as he takes in the sight before him. You – your cheeks flushed and your eyes blown dark with lust as you gaze at him sitting between your thighs. “I could eat you out all day.” You believe him.
“Would you please fuck me, Daniel?” You ask him, giving him your very best doe eyes. If you let him, he’d keep bringing you to orgasm just like this – over and over and over again, completely ignoring his own pleasure for the sake of yours. But you want him. You want to feel him, every single inch of him, stretching you in the most delicious way.
Without a word, he slips his own pants off his legs, his boxers soon to follow. His cock, red and rock solid stands out proudly. He’s the only man you’ve ever known to have such a pretty cock. He swipes a finger through your folds, gathering your wetness and using it to slick himself, a breathy moan escaping him as his own hand passes over himself.
“You’re so beautiful.” He says, his voice quiet and husky. “I’m so lucky to get to see you like this.”
You whine, spreading your legs in the hopes that he’ll hurry things up. Your cunt is aching to feel him and you want desperately to see his face as he finally succumbs to his own pleasure.
As if hearing your thoughts, finally he sinks into you, stretching you perfectly and groaning loudly as he bottoms out.
“Jesus, Danny.” You manage to say between stuttered, heavy breaths. “You feel so good.”
Danny leans downwards, pressing his forearms on either side of your head and smothering your body with his own. There isn’t much room on the couch for two full grown adults but neither of you seem to care. It’s just an excuse to be as close as possible to each other.
“Move, baby.” You coax and he’s quick to obey.
He draws back before sliding into you once again, his strokes long and deliberate. As aggressively as he’d made you cum earlier, now there’s no rush for either of you. Your breaths mingle, his head dipped down so that his lips hover over your own. His brows pinch together as he thrusts into you, drawing a louder whine from between your lips. You slide your palms up under his shirt, running your fingertips over the expanse of skin and feeling the way his back muscles flex with each movement. He shivers and groans, his pace picking up only slightly after you rake your nails down his back.
“You feel like Heaven wrapped me.” He punctuates the sentence with a moan. “So tight and warm.”
You nod, lost in the feeling of him. It’s like the whole world has shrunk down to only you and him – the storm rages on outside but neither of you pay it any mind. That simmering low in your belly begins to spark, gently beginning to spread through you. Danny leans down to press his forehead to yours as the pleasure between the two of you builds and builds.
“Danny.” Your voice is a quiet, whimpering thing.
Immediately, Danny knows exactly what it is you need and he reaches a hand between your bodies, his fingers finding your clit and rubbing slow circles over the swollen nub. Where before your orgasm had slammed into you, this one creeps up and over you like a warm blanket. It goes on for what feels like forever as you arch upwards into Danny, his finger never ceasing on your clit and his own hips beginning to stutter.
“Fuck, keep making those noises.” He begs, and you realize now that whines are falling from your mouth with reckless abandon as he fucks you through your release.
At last, Danny pulls out of you just in time for his release to spill across your lower belly, deep moans ringing out in the air between the two of you. Then silence, broken only by yours and his heavy breathing.
“Warmer?” Danny asks at last, before brushing his lips over yours. You chase them, catching him for a deeper kiss before pulling away.
“Much warmer.” He brushes a strand of hair away from your forehead and tucks it behind your ear. “I love you.”
Danny smiles, sweet as honey.
“I love you more.”

Fuckin' with the Ecosystem- Chapter 4
Character: Carmy Berzatto x Reader
Summary: You decide it was time for a new chapter. You pack up everything in New York and drive back to Chicago with Carmy by your side. Due to the stress you both feel from the move, you're both on edge which leads to a mess you have to deal with.
Warnings: Angst, cursing, fluff
A/n: Chapter 4 is here! The further this goes the more twisty it's gonna get! I'm only getting started. Poor Carmy always has the best of intentions but seems to get caught on the delivery. Thank you for all of the support guys. I really appreciate it. I have a taglist going, let me know if you want to get added!
If you haven't read, here's: Chapter 1 , Chapter 2 and Chapter 3
Enjoy!
As you put the key in your door and walk into your apartment, it hits you that you're starting a new chapter. Once you made the decision to move to Chicago, you rang your landlord, letting him know that you were moving out. He wasn't too pleased to hear about it. You told him that you'd find someone to sublet it for the remaining 3 months you had left on your lease. You knew it wasn't going to be a challenge as New York was continuously dealing with a renting shortage.
The two weeks flew by. You felt like you were always catching up on what needed to get done. But never being able to finish a task completely. You put an ad out for your sublet, and to say people were desperate was an understatement. You had several responses in minutes and multiple viewings arranged. Once you picked the few people who were good to sublet, you handed it over to your landlord, as he had the final approval. Within a day of that, you had an official date to move out, and suddenly, everything felt real. Before this, in your mind, you felt like you could change your decision, and it would have been okay. But now, you don't have an apartment next week, so now you had to move, whether you had wanted to or not.
"Getting cold feet?" Carmy voice spoke out of your phone.
"No, no.. just seeing my things in boxes is... making it real" you looked around seeing your frames leaning against the wall and your possessions all over the place disorganized.
"Your flight is good?" You asked, bring your focus back on the task on hand.
There was a moment of silence.
"Yea, think so. Here, let me send you the link to my flights" Carmy muttered
Your phone vibrated with an email notification labeled as "NY flight".
"Okay... well... I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?" You asked, feeling your stomach flip realizing you'll be seeing him.
Since you've been so busy organizing everything, you forgot the whole point of the actual move. To start a new job in a new city, with great people and a close old friend. The stress was nearly over when it came to closing the chapter in New York, and was replaced that was excitement for Chicago.
"Sure will, don't stand me up." You sensed a smile off of him
You waited at the arrival gate, scanning the bundles of people coming out. Your eyes hopped face to face, until you finally recognized one. He walked up to you with open arms carrying his backpack on one shoulder. He was wearing his wool coat and white shirt combo. Always a classic for him. You gave a quick hug, breathing in his usual smell which was a mixture of cigarettes, deodorant and gum.
Carmy was relieved to see you waiting there. He noticed you before you noticed him. A warm sensation spread across his chest when your eyes landed on him and a smile broke out on your face immediately.
You both hopped on the subway, Carmy telling you everything that happened since you've been gone. He explained how Richie, Fak and Marcus has been busy breaking down the place. While Tina and Ebra have enrolled into a short eight week course in culinary school. Syd has been busy researching new flavors and themes for the restaurant.
"Suga' has been dealin-"
"IRS are being a pain in the ass" You cut him off walking down the street getting closer to your apartment.
"Yeah.. how did you know?" Carmy looked over surprised.
"We've been chatting on the daily. She keeps me in the loop. She's also been helping me find a place in Chicago." You grinned at him pulling out your keys as you came up to building.
"Oh.." He hummed and looked down.
"So, you know everything already. Why didn't you stop me?" He asked, him now feeling out of the loop.
"I like the sound of your voice babes" You mocked, opening the door.
You looked back at Carmy, who followed you into the lobby, giving you a smirk.
You both arrived at your apartment and swung the door open. He followed you in, dropping off his bag at the door.
"I have most of the small things packed away. It's alotta awkward big stuff I'm gonna need help with." You turned around to see Carmy looking around while walking further into your living room.
You felt vulnerable now that he was standing in your safe place. The place you called home for 4 years.
"I know- its not much bu-"
"It's.. its nice. Cosy," he landed his eyes back you, giving a gentle smile.
Your apartment was small and not the most modern. But over the years, you tried your best to make it yours. Your kitchen was a joke. You barely could swing a cat in it. But lucky for you, you worked in a restaurant which mostly kept you fed and you never really cooked anyway.
"That kitchen is an abomination," He stated, pointing at it in shock.
You chuckled knowing he was going to judge your kitchen.
"You wanna know the worst part?" You walked over and grinned.
You leaned over to the stove which was crammed in the corner of the kitchen. You opened the door of the oven. The door stopped 3/4 of the way before hitting the wall in front of it. You glanced over to Carmy who's jaw was open. He raised his arms to his head in dismay.
"What the actual fuck" He uttered, walking away with his head shaking.
With a busy couple of days ahead of you, you started getting errands done. Tomorrow was the final day, and there was still a lot of shit that needed to get sorted. He started breaking down your your bed frame and tables you had.
"Ikea piece of shit" He muttered to himself as he struggled with taking out a screw that was stripped.
"Who the fuck made this bed?" He yelled out to you from the bedroom.
You smiled to yourself, knowing he was going to love the answer.
"Take a guess" you yelled back.
"Dickhead Nick" He spat finally getting the screw loose.
You giggled to yourself hearing the string of curse words Carmy was uttering.
"Finally" He huffed, after half an hour of struggle.
You popped your head around the corner and watched Carmy gather the parts of the frame and put them all together in the corner of the room. The frame was heavy, but Carmy lifted it like it was nothing. You couldn't resist looking at his arms flexed with the movement of each piece. His arms against the tight sleeves of his shirt.
"You okay?" You snapped back to notice Carmy looking over at you, dusting his hands off.
"Yeah- yeah, sorry. I'm just tired," You walked away, feeling yourself blush from the thought of getting caught admiring him.
Carmy went to collect the rental truck as you finished off putting the last few things in boxes. That night, you both slept on the floor with a blanket and pillow. It didn't matter how uncomfortable it was. You were exhausted to the point of passing out.
You woke up with the sounds of your alarm. You picked up your phone to see 5:00 am. You looked over to the sight of Carmy laying on his stomach, his face smooshed into the pillow with his mouth half open. As you sat up, the floor boards creaked, making him stir. He stretched out his arms, yawning. His white shirt tossed beside him.
"Warm?" You rubbed your eyes.
He looked at you with his eyes half open. You flicked your eyes to the white bundle beside him. His eyes followed, and realized what you were talking about.
"Um- yeah. This place is fuckin' boilin' at night," he muttered sleepily, sitting up.
"Yeah, that's the one thing I don't like about this place." Your eyes traveled down to his bare chest. His gold chain resting against his skin. Your dragged your eyes away before he noticed.
You thought back to years ago when he was way more scrawny. He really had grown into his... physique. His shoulders were a lot more toned and built than you remember.
Hold up, you caught yourself. You stopped yourself going down that rabbit hole. It's been awhile since you've gotten any but you and Carmy have never been like that.
He leaned over and pulled his shirt over his head, tossing his hair all over, pushing his arms through.
"So... let's get ready, and pack the final things in the truck, sweep the place, and we should be good to go before traffic gets bad," you commented getting onto your feet and made your way to the bathroom.
"Heard" He mumbled rubbing his eyes.
You both worked your way through the apartment and played Tetris a little with trying to cram as much as possible in the truck.
"I'm tellin' you, if you take that out, you're just going to undo all the work we did last night." You grunted, getting annoyed with the constant struggle of your belongings.
"Lemme try." Carmy snapped back, glaring at you.
He handed you the box that you were both struggling to fit. You were beyond exhausted, and the thought of driving 12 hours put you in a further bad mood.
You watched, annoyed, as Carmy readjusted the lamp that was taking up too much space.
"I know you don't wanna have this in front with us, but you goin' hafta." He took out the tall lamp awkwardly, losing his patience with it. He wiggled it and angled it out. Then, he took the box off of you. He slotted it into the gap that was left behind by the lamp. He slammed the doors and turned to you, a small smile appearing on his face.
"What?" You barked, frowning back at him.
He stared at you for a moment.
"Nothin," he shook his head, the smile still on his face.
If he was honest, he couldn't stay annoyed at you when he looked over and saw how pissed you were, holding your lamp. He thought about how rough you both were . Your hair tied away from your face, and his just a bush on his head. Both sporting bags under your eyes. You standing there holding a lamp angerly, just shifted something inside him. To him, you looked ... cute? He couldn't place the words. He dismissed the thought quickly but with the remnants of the smile left behind. You both had a lot of shit to get through today, and he's thoughts weren't on top of the list.
You entered your old apartment for the last time. Completely empty. The walls looked bare after so long filled with your favorite pictures and posters. You walked through all the rooms and checked the closets to make sure nothing was left behind.
You glanced down the hallway to see Carmy leaning against the wall, playing with the truck keys absent-mindedly. Two months ago, you were minding your business, figuring out your next job in New York. With one phone call, now you're moving to Chicago to work in a non-existent restaurant.
You made your way back to him, and you took one more look before closing the door.
"Ready?" He asked, looking back at you.
You nodded, smiling back at him.
With a long road ahead of you, you decided to take turns driving the truck. Carmy offered first. You didn't know if because he saw how tired you were, or he was just being kind. Twenty minutes into the journey, you were conked out.
One arm on the steering wheel, the other resting on the door, he would glance from time to time over to you. You leaned up against the other side of the truck with your head against the window using your hoodie as a make-shift pillow.
Carmy had a constant knot in his stomach the last week. He felt excited to see the plan that you made actually happen. It really did feel like a new beginning had started. The restaurant being remodeled and you moving to Chicago, it felt real. For once, he was actually feeling hopeful about the future.
Along the journey, you made a few pitstops for bathroom breaks and snacks.
"Where... ar wehh?" Carmy lifted his head feeling the truck coming to a stop outside a gas station.
" I dunno, fuck middle nowhere Pennsylvania," you said before getting out of the car.
"Still? Fuckin' hell. How big is this state?" He groaned, readjusting his head.
You came back with two energy drinks, and you threw him a bag of chips.
"Thanks," he mumbled
"It's the only payment you're getting for helping me move." You smirked, cracking open a can.
You heard him give a light chuckle before putting his head down again.
Once the sun came up, you both felt more awake. It a crisp winter morning. Cold, fresh, but the sun was shining with a clear sky.
You pulled over for another pit stop.
"Huhh" Carmy readjusted in his seat, completely disorientated from his power nap.
"Needa pee" you said restlessly.
"Again?" Carmy complained
"Energy drinks run through me"
The truck came to a halt. You jumped out and raced inside, barely waiting for the automatic doors to open fully before going in.
Carmy sat up in his seat and decided it was his turn to drive. He made his way to the driver side. He thought to himself for a moment before turning on the truck, putting it into drive, and pulled away.
He had no idea what got into him, but he wanted to fuck with you.
He had moved the truck to the other opposite side of the gas station, to the point where you would have to turn around to see it as you walked back to the old parking spot.
He watched the door waiting for you to come out. His hand resting against his mouth, tapping his finger on the steering wheel.
You walked out in the direction where the truck was parked, to see it not there anymore. You swore you parked it right there, took glance around to your left and right.
Were you losing mind?
Did Carmy take off?
Doubtful but it did pop into your mind.
Carmy continued to watch from the driver seat. A sneaky smile emerging on his face, he watches you look around. He could tell you thought you were losing your mind.
He gave the steering wheel a light push, and a short horn blared out of the truck. He saw you whip around from the sound, and a smile popped up on your face.
You went to the truck and got in the passenger side.
"You fucker" you giggled punching him lightly in the arm.
"Gotta keep you on your toes." He chuckled, rubbing this arm where you hit.
"I thought you dipped." You said securing your seat belt.
"Na, I'm not that bad," Carmy pulled out of the gas station.
For the next couple of hours, you chatted about random things, trying to keep you both dying from boredom. The conversation would get interrupted with Carmy's road rage of people cutting him off and traffic building up as you got closer to the cities.
"Why the fuck would Google Maps bring us on this route, it's slammed" He glanced at his phone
"Cause someone wanted to avoid tolls" You rolled your eyes to him.
"You fuckin' think I'm willing going to pay 90 dollars to those bastards?" He lightly hit the steering wheel in frustration.
"Well it would only be half-"
"It's not about the money..." He broke off as you both crawled along the road.
Nine hours into the twelve hour road trip, and both of you were starting to feel it. You were looking rough to begin with, but now you both felt just as rough.
With you behind the steering wheel again, you glanced over and saw him gaze out the window, his head leaned back. You didn't know if he was asleep. The sun was slowly starting to make its way down. The dusky sky was followed by an early dark night.
"Pull over at the next gas station." Carmy spoke up, looking over at you.
"Why?" You checked your rearview mirror and blind spot before turning your blinker on.
"Chicago is a mess when it comes to one ways. It'll be easier if I drive the rest of the way" He explained licking his lips.
You didn't fight him on this. You hated driving in a new city, the stress of the traffic, especially in a truck that was a lot bigger than your old car, you were glad he offered.
You switched sides and felt a ping of sadness that the road trip was near to an end. You were glad that the move was finally over, but wished you appreciated being around Carmy more. You felt the need to cling onto every minute spent with him. The feeling that you got in your stomach, your gut. You haven't felt that in a long time. The peace you had with him when cruising down the highway.
"What's your address?" He asked as you pulled up to a stop at a red light.
You pulled up your email confirming your lease contract on your new apartment. He glanced over, his eyebrows immediately popping up.
"You're fuckin' kidding me, ight?" He scoffed.
"What?" A hint of worry in your voice.
"Could you have picked a rougher neighborhood?" He asked sarcastically.
"I asked Sugar an-"
"Suga hasn't a fuckin' clue. Why didn't you ask me? Or anyone else...." He ridiculed.
"It can't be that bad." You dismissed his attitude, trying to reassure yourself.
There was a moment of silence with the red light turning green.
"Fuck- okay. it's fine. But if any- I mean any shit goes on, you immediately call me or Richie, okay?" He took his eyes off the road staring at you.
"Yea- yes, of course" You nodded pressing your lips in a fine line.
As you traveled through Chicago, you looked through the perspective of it as your new home. You took note of maybe some cafes and shops you wanted to go visit. You started to see more and more neglected buildings as you got closer and closer to your new apartment.
"I didn't have many options." You blurted out.
"With the timeframe I had and what I can afford right now. It was between this place and another, but I would have to wait another week before getting the other place, " you explained, feeling uneasy looking out at the streets.
"W-why didn't you tell me? We could have worked something out? You know I would have fixed you up with somethin'," He said softly.
You looked over and saw his eyes soften. You felt guilt, layered on top of all the negative feelings that were in your stomach right now.
"I didn't want to be in the way. I felt like I was already a burden with taking you away from the restaurant for the last couple of days" You brought your head down not wanting to go down this train of thought.
Carmy brought his hand up to his face and rubbed his forehead. He didn't want to make the situation worse. He wanted to pick his words carefully, feeling your uneasiness beside him.
"Look, the place isn't probably that bad and it's not forever" He gave a small smile trying to comfort you.
"Six months" You whispered feeling completely disheartened by the change in atmosphere in the last couple of moments.
"Yea- that's good. That'll fly by" He smiled again.
But it was too late, his first reaction was the real one and not what you needed. To move to a big city by yourself is hard enough. To do it in the bad part of town is not something you wanted to also deal with.
"What number?" He asked, looking out his side window
"Two thirty," you whispered.
Carmy continued down the street at a slow speed, keeping track of the numbers on the buildings.
"Here" He pointed in front of him pulling over to the curb.
You didn't even want to look. The weight in your stomach was keeping you from looking up. The adrenaline from New York had worn off, leaving you with disappointment and worry.
Carmy hopped out of the truck and was looking at a building that was a little run down, but the entrance was clean, and there were no dodgy people around that he noticed right away. He looked up and down the street to see a corner shop and a laundromat closest. He instinctively took out a cigarette and light it inhaling the smoke. He turned back to the truck window to still see you in the seat, looking down.
"Shit" He muttered to himself knowing he fucked up. He had to say exactly what was on his mind. He couldn't just keep it to himself and wait til' you got here. He mindlessly kicked a pebble on the ground while finishing his cigarette, trying to think what would be the best thing to do. He didn't want to make things worse. You were both on your reserves when it came to energy and patience with each other. He didn't want to stumble at the final hurdle.
After a few minutes, you heard the door being pulled open on your side.
"Hey... Look, I'm sorry... this is a really nice building from what I can see..." He braced his arm on the door jam.
"You're just sayin-"
"I'm not... I'm really not. I'll promise to tell you if your apartment looks like a shithole when we go see it"
You looked up to see his dead serious face break into a smile. You felt a smile creep up on your face even though you didn't want it to.
"C'mon" He nodded up, bringing his hand out for you to grab.
He helped you down off the truck, and you went inside with him right behind.
As you went to the building managers office, he walked around feeling out the place. He walked to the mailing room, which was a mess with piles of neglected mail from past tenants.
The place overall smelt like stale bleach. It was dated and worn, but it was clean. He was grateful for that.
"Got it"
He noticed how quiet you were. He would looked over and you give him a weak smile. But deep inside he knew you weren't okay. He wanted to hug you and hold you. He never had the intension to hurt you and he was pissed off with himself that he did.
You made your way to the fourth floor and made a wrong turn on the hallway before turning back.
"Here it is, 46C," you hummed, sticking the key in the hole.
With the door swinging open, you both walked in. The layout was close to your old apartment. The door opened to the living room with a hallway to your left where the kitchen and bedroom lead.
You walked into the living room where blank walls faced you with two windows looking out to the street below.
"Bathroom isn't bad" you heard Carmy call out further in the apartment.
You walked over to see him sitting on the toilet lid.
"I see you're giving it a test ride," you chuckled.
"Someone has to." He shrugged jokingly.
Him seeing you chuckle, even if it was a light one made him feel somewhat better than he didn't completely wreck the evening.
You turned around to see the bedroom directly across. It could comfortably fit a queen bed, which was a relief. From the pictures, you couldn't tell if the bed would be cramped in it.
"So, I was thinking the bed would be here?" You whipped around, spreading your arms, imitating the size of the bed.
"In the middle?" Carmy asked walking in behind.
You nodded, turning around to face the wall.
"Yeah... I think that would work," you grinned seeing the potential in this room.
You continued to imagine how the rest of your belongings would fit in your new bedroom.
"Let's get started. There's a lot to move still," he made his way out of the room.
The curse words that were uttered from both of you as you awkwardly moved the big pieces of furniture first. It was a close call when it came to the mattress fitting in the elevator. Carmy was adamant that it was going to fit.
"No way in fuckin' hell was I gonna drag this shit up four floors." He gave out as he was crushed against the elevator holding the mattress.
Both of your faces were flushed red and sweat gleaming from the heavy lifting.
Carmy and you struggled as you dragged the plastic covered mattress down the hall to your apartment. It was the last of the big pieces with mostly boxes left to carry.
Another hour, and the truck was finally empty. You took your phone out of your pocket to check the time. Eight o clock shined back at you.
"Damn, getting pretty late" You huffed, pushing the stray hairs from your face.
"I'll return the truck tomorrow," you continued watching Carmy close the back doors of the truck.
You stood there looking at each other for a beat.
"I better head home," Carmy said, taking a few steps back.
"What? No- I owe you dinner. It's the least I could do", you crossed your arms, feeling the cold around you.
"You sure?" He checked, with his head down looking up through his lids.
With Chinese on your lap, you looked across to see Carmy lean up against one of your many boxes with his legs stretched out in front of him on the floor.
"You're right, it's pretty good," you hummed, enjoying the burst of flavor in your mouth.
Carmy nodded along, tucking into this food eagerly.
The apartment was mostly quiet with the odd random distant yell from outside, you presumed to be crackheads.
"I know you won't believe me, but I really do like this place" He looked up around your living room.
"The location is shit, but..."
"I know, but this place has potential." You smiled, finishing off his sentence.
"Yeah," He said in a soft tone, turning up the corners of his mouth.
His eyes lingered on yours for a moment. You traveled your eyes down his neck, chest, and down his arms.
You would be lying to yourself if you didn't notice his arms when he helped your lift heavy boxes. He refused to let you lift anything that he thought you might struggle with. He was considerate. Always thinking about you in a way that no one else would. Your friendship meant so much to you. In a moment like this, you felt that you might need his friendship a lot more than he might need yours.
Here you are, in Chicago. Working with one of your closest friends. Nothing else is here, only him. The vulnerability you felt in that moment, developed fear that you hadn't felt before.
"I can't believe you're actually here" Carmy spoke out, breaking your swirling thoughts.
"I know, it's just hitting me too," you said in a dissociated daze.
His eyebrows furrowed for a brief moment, wondering what you were thinking. Were you regretting your decision?
"I think you'll like Chicago," He said positively, keeping his eyes on you.
"Mhmmm," you murmured, your eyes glazed over and your mind in another world of your own.
"Y-you're not regretting your de-"
You snapped out of your trance and glanced over to Carmy to see his face covered in concern.
"No- no, no." You shook your head and smiled reassuringly.
He played with the food left over on his lap.
"Well... um.. you know I'm here, right?" He questioned.
"I know," you murmured, bringing your head down.
"I'm not goin' anywhere." He continued, leaning forward, trying to meet your eye line.
There was this sadness that you couldn't shake since getting here. You could feel it deep in your stomach. Was it anxiety? That reality has finally hit you in the face? The excitement that you felt earlier wasn't there and it worried you even more.
Carmy knew there was something up. You weren't present since you've arrived. It was a long few days for both of you, and it could have been exhaustion, but he didn't want to leave you alone. He felt guilty just walking away, especially when something was up.
You kept your head down, not wanting to make eye contact with him. You were afraid that if you did, you would completely break down and cry.
A moment later, you just heard him shuffle. You felt a warm hand on top of yours. You saw inked fingers grasp yours and a body of warmth wrapping you in a hug.
You couldn't hold back. You felt your tears spill over. You turned into his chest and buried your face into his white t-shirt.
"It's okay... you'll be okay. " He hummed and pressed you closer to him.
You sat there for a couple of moments. No other words were spoken. His embrace eased the anxiety that you were feeling. You had no idea what came over you. This was not the feeling you were expecting when first moving in.
You eventually pulled away, wiping your puffy eyes. Your face was red hot from all the crying.
"I-I'm sorry." You forced a smile on your face.
He looked at you with a comforting smile, his blue eyes flickering between yours.
"Don't be." He whispered, his arm still wrapped around you.
"I'm.... just glad to be here for you." His thumb caressed the back of your hand.
Both of you sat in your new apartment floor in between several boxes scattered. The apartment was cold and bare, but Carmy was radiating heat. You leaned into him with your legs against each other. You looked away from his kind blue eyes and sniffled. You wanted to savor this moment. The peace you felt with him.
Your soft hand under his rough fingertips made him realise that he would be happy staying like this all night. If you wanted him there, he wouldn't budge. His thoughts carried on from what your hand felt like to what maybe your lips would feel like. He could only imagine the tenderness he would feel against his.
What the hell is wrong with you?
She needs you. Don't fuck this up.
You eventually looked up at him again. Your eyes gazed at his beautiful messy hair, his fatigue blue eyes, and... his lips.
You went back to his eyes to catch him looking down at your lips. Your breath caught in your throat. Both of your eyes met in that second. Your faces inches away from each other.
Both of you scared to lean in. Both of you wanted it more than anything.
His rough fingertips grazing your cheek so lightly.
In that moment, you realized what you were risking. Did you really want to go down the same path you went down before? You move for a boy, fall for a boy... get hurt by a boy.
Carmy was all you got right now. You didn't want to risk anything that would make you lose that. As much you wanted to kiss him and give into every urge you had, the sting of your previous mistake was still there in the back of you mind. In this moment, you needed to take a step back before you did something you might regret.
You dropped your head not wanting to look into his eyes with what you were going to say next.
"Carmy...I-I can't," your voice barely audible.
"Fuck, I'm sorry- I don't..." He fumbled.
"I just... I've been here before. I can't make the same mistake,"
Carmy pulled away from you completely. His hands left yours, you felt the absence of heat immediately after he pulled away.
"I-I fucked up, I'm sorry" He shuffled to his feet.
"It's not that..." You tried to get words out, but before you knew it, Carmy had grabbed his jacket and was on his way out.
"Carmen," you sternly called out, getting up from the floor.
But the door was already shut. Your gut was twisting back and forth. You were so dazed on what just happened. It was too fast for you to even digest. You stood there for several moments trying to understand what was going on.
The last thing you wanted to do was hurt him. You felt your stomach churn realizing that you might have destroyed one of your closest friendships. You wanted him, you wanted to explain how you felt. You wanted him to convince you that you weren't making a mistake.
The deep feeling of anxiety in your stomach had emerged again, only this time much worse. As tears rolled down your face, you barely had the energy or will to tear the plastic wrapping off your mattress and root in the box, that was labeled 'bedding', to get a pillow and blanket. You let your body fall back on the mattress and instantly closed your eyes. This was suppose to be a new beginning in a new city. That clearly wasn't happening now that you've hurt one of the only people who you were close to in this city. The sirens in distance helped you phase into a deep sleep. Fatigue finally taking over your body. You didn't have any energy left to do anything else.
Carmy got back to his apartment, his stomach in knots. repeating the last moment he had with you. Remembering the pounding in his heart when looking into your eyes. Then, the sensation morphing into a sharp pain when you said his name in a negative tone.
He couldn't stop thinking about it over and over. He didn't even remember walking home. After you said his name, everything turned into a blur. The tone in your voice made him feel ashamed of himself. Were you disappointed in him as a friend when you needed him most? That you thought he was trying to take advantage of you at your most vulnerable? All these thoughts were whizzing around in his brain. His rational thoughts were no longer pushing through.
Should he have stayed to explain himself? Explain what he felt for you was something real that he's never had before. It's the surest thing that he has in his life right now, his feelings for you.
The last few days his thoughts made it plainly obvious that he wants to be more than friends. He was able to admire you when he usually couldn't. The everyday you. The you that was sleeping, eating, just living. He caught himself smiling to himself multiple times for no real reason. The only difference was, he was around you.
He kicked his shoes in the corner, dropping his jacket on the ground before dropping back on the couch. To say he was deflated was an understatement. The thought of seeing you tomorrow would usually make his pulse speedup but now, he felt a sinking feeling in his stomach.
He went through all the awful scenarios in his head. Were you going to ignore him? Or tell him to fuck off? Or tell him that you only ever saw him as a friend? Nothing else.
The last one drove a lump in his throat. He knew he wasn't going to get much sleep tonight. He didn't even care if he didn't. The only thing he wanted now was tomorrow to go by as fast and painlessly as possible.

Accolades - Part Three (Final)
Timeline: A Year after the final escape from Mount Tantiss.
Summary: Omega receives her own Accolades.
Part One | Part Two | Part Three Available on AO3
“You made all of these?” Omega asked, studying the five decorated boxes in front of her.
“Mmhm.” Hunter sat beside Omega, letting the quiet moment settle as she absorbed all he had told her.
He wanted to present these five boxes as a happy little exercise made by a brother who had love and pride for his squad.
Of course she had questions.
“Why haven’t I seen these before?”
“Did Tech get to see his accolades?”
“Why didn’t you give these boxes to your brothers earlier?”
They were hard questions to answer, but good ones. Whether she meant to or not, Omega's unflinchingly honest questions always put things into perspective for Hunter. To his surprise, he felt his heart heal more and more with each answer he gave, while their brothers sat in the circle and listened.
“It was painful to look at them after Crosshair left the squad”
“No…Tech never saw his accolades.”
“I planned to give them to my brothers after the war ended.”
Omega closed each of the boxes, except for one which had remained untouched.
The brothers had all agreed not to open Tech’s box, but they didn’t want to tell what Omega would do. As always she would do what she felt was right.
Omega picked up Tech’s box. She leaned against Crosshair as her fingers traced over the digital skull. Admittedly, seeing Omega and Crosshair bond like this would've kicked up jealousy in Hunter's chest like a gritty dust storm. In the end, after a lot of self-reflection, he recognized that Omega and Crosshair's bond was just as strong as his own with Omega. Just different. It was different with everyone in Omega's life. She went to Hunter to be comforted, and she went to Crosshair to commiserate. She went to Echo for deep conversations and to Wrecker to forget her worries. Her bond with each of her siblings was all equally important and Hunter wouldn't have it any other way.
“Are you going to open it?” Crosshair asked, breaking the silence, sitting stock still, as if to provide a pillar for her to lean on.
Omega shook her head. “It doesn’t feel right. This isn’t for me, it’s for him. And he was always particular about not sharing his stuff.”
She looked up at Hunter suddenly and it took him a moment to realize she was looking for approval.
Hunter smiled. “We felt the same way.”
Omega looked up at her brothers. “You haven’t opened it either?”
Wrecker, Echo, and Crosshair shook their heads.
“Eh, it’s like you said,” Wrecker said, rubbing the back of his head. “just didn’t feel right.” Then Wrecker perked up. “Can we show her the surprise now?”
“There's a surprise?” Omega gasped, sitting up straight.
“Is there a surprise?” Hunter asked with a growing grin, unable to resist teasing his brother and sister who were now both bouncing excitedly.
“Ugh, Hunter you knowww,” Wrecker whined.
"Show me," Omega whined, too.
“He's kriffing with you two,” Crosshair rolled his eyes. “Go get it, Wrecker.”
“Yeah!!” Wrecker hopped up and went to Hunter's armor tote and pulled out a silver coffer painted with a pink energy crossbow and a lurca hound paw print.
“You made this for me?!” Omega gasped, taking the box from Wrecker.
“It was long overdue," Hunter said.
“Yeah, you've done a lotta wizard things since you joined us!” Wrecker said.
“We all pitched in and created some medals and ribbons for you, too.” Hunter said.
“And only one fight broke out,” Echo said, dryly.
“No blood this time, I hope,” Omega grinned, hugging the box.
“Just glitter.” Crosshair sneered at Wrecker.
“He aimed at my head,” Wrecker pouted, turning to reveal a patch of silver sparkles on his bald head. “I’ll never get it out.”
“You shouldn't have tried to steal it from me,” Crosshair shrugged, his toothpick flicking like a serpent’s tongue. “Silver's my color.”
Hunter nudged Omega. “Go ahead and open it.”
“My accolades are the best,” Crosshair said, confidently.
“But look at mine first!” Wrecker said, giving Crosshair a rough shoulder bump.
Omega opened the lid. “Whoa...”
The boys had outdone themselves. Arts and crafts weren’t exactly their forte, but they knew how to put colors together. Yellow, gray, and blue ribbons, painted scrap metal, and colorful ripped fabrics handsewn together and...glitter. A shocking amount of glitter, though that was probably due to the Great Glitter Battle that took place in Hunter's living room.
Omega picked up a medal that barely fit in the chest. It was a tarnished metal disk painted yellow with a message burned into the surface. Four long chains dangled over her fingers as Omega read the message: "Most Mantel Mix eaten in a minute! I remember that day!"
“Ugh, that Mantel Mix,” Echo huffed. “You two were the reason we owed Cid so many credits.”
“Hah, worth it though,” Wrecker laughed. “But it wasn't a fair fight, I had already eaten four boxes before that challenge.”
“I warned you I’d win,” Omega grinned, sheepishly. “Though, I guess we both kinda lost because of how sick we were afterwards.”
“Oh yeah. I remember,” Hunter said. Omega had curled up in his lap with what she describe as "the worst tummy ache of her life."
Omega took her time looking at each medal, giggling, giving sudden hugs, and excitedly recounting each adventure with her brothers.
When she picked up one of Crosshair’s ribbon, she read the inscription and flashed their youngest brother a secretive smile.
Crosshair sneered back.
Hunter squinted. “What’s it say?”
“Nothing,” Crosshair and Omega said at the same time.
Hunter laughed and rolled his eyes. “Right…Always gotta keep an eye on you two these days.”
“You’d have to find us first!” Omega said, cheerfully, then looked to Crosshair for approval. Crosshair gave her a wink.
“Hey, I'm a tracker, remember?” Hunter poked Omega’s ribs. She laughed and scooted closer to Hunter, leaning against him while she put the medal away and picked up a new one. “This one says ‘Winning the Most Credits in Under an Hour'.”
Hunter narrowed his eyes at Crosshair. “Hang on. What do you mean ‘Winning’? You took her gambling?”
“Actually, I took him gambling,” Omega said, gazing up at Hunter with her “sweet smile” that always got her out of trouble with Hunter. “But it was for a good cause!”
"I'm sure it was."
“This one next,” Echo prompted, tapping a hyper realistic version of an Arc Trooper's medal. Hunter realized that Echo must have donated one of his own medals to the box.
Omega read the message silently, her face lighting up like a Pabu Sunrise before she lunged towards Echo.
Hunter caught the message: To Omega: Best Hugs in the Batch.
“Oh what, that medal doesn't go to Wrecker?” Hunter smirked.
“Ugh, no. Wrecker nearly crushes me to death with his hugs.”
“You mean like this?” Wrecker grabbed his entire family and pulled them all into a giant, crushing hug.
“Like that,” Echo wheezed, making exaggerated choking sounds.
Omega giggled and hugged back.
Crosshair and Hunter sighed in the exact same way and shared a smile. They’ve been tolerating these hugs since they were kids.
“Guess that just leaves mine,” Hunter said when Wrecker finally freed them.
Omega pulled out the medals Hunter made. She read each of them quietly.
“Hunter,” she said, her eyes brimming with tears.
“What do they say?” Wrecker asked.
Omega started to cry.
“What the hell, Hunter,” Crosshair snarled, bristling. “You made her cry.”
“No, no, they're happy tears,” Omega sniffled and raised her arms up to Hunter.
He knew that one day soon she’d be too old to hold like this, but for now, he scooped her up in his arms and held her protectively. She clutched the medal to her chest.
“Proud of you, kid,” Hunter said, quietly. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
The medal was a triangular fabric pin with a silver star against the starry black background, black paint flecked with white. In gray paint it said. “The best daughter in the galaxy”.
One by one, the brothers peeked at the medal and their expressions all softened as if realizing that they felt the same way Hunter did.
Hunter had always had brothers, and brothers made a squad.
But when Omega showed up, she made them a family.
The boys gathered around, joining in on the hug…this time Wrecker didn’t choke anyone out, Crosshair didn’t complain, Echo didn’t huff. They just existed, thankful for the time they had together.
