#if you think hes only that bad bc amber was bad why are u unwilling to accept the reverse might also be the case

honestly my opinion on the trial has stayed consistent throughout the trial. as we first saw some of the evidence and counter evidence, it became very clear to me about one thing. amber heard has lied about some things. and johnny depp is still a bad person. 

i can’t tell for certain how it worked out. i cant say 100% factually i know how it went down. there are many different ways that could have this outcome. perhaps he was overtly controlling and she lashed out physically, unable to truly escape. maybe they both just brought out the worst in each other, and to escape she tried to lie about what happened when. maybe he never physically hit her, or maybe he did but she needed other ppl to know it happened when she escaped. 

but her lies abt specifics or fabrications of whole events do not completely free depp of wrong doing. we know and have proof of a lot of abusive behavior from him towards other people. people cry out abt heard’s substance problems and mental health, ignoring depp getting drunk and verbally abusing people on set and being a nightmare to work with professionally. i do think there was a power imbalance given he was in his 40′s and heard in her 20′s, and that power imbalance is not skewed in her favor. i think judging her in the worst possible light they were both toxic people who acted horribly because they brought out the worst in each other. judging her at her best she is a victim who lashed out in all the wrong ways and made several missteps in publicly trying to get away. 

and regardless of this, people are still using this verdict to harass other victims. to say “this is why you cant trust women”. to mock domestic abuse. they ignore all the things that we know depp did because “well she lied about some of it”. they tear heard down for the same shit they excuse in depp. and ultimately i wish this trial could just be about them, about what was said honestly or not and where to do from there, but thats not what this trial is about to the larger public. even though at worst this is a woman who merely exaggerated already bad, toxic behavior, people act like depp is free of all wrongdoing, and that men are going to be victims when it comes to accusations of abuse and rape. because if one woman lies about one thing, it means all women lie about almost everything. and if one man is caught having not done one abusive thing he was accused of, then all men are free of all accusations. 

and its so nauseating. its disgusting. and people “cheering” for depp make me sick. people ignoring the full blown harassment campaigns toward completely unrelated women make me sick. and i know that at the start of the trial, this was what was going to happen. even if amber heard had not lied or gotten one thing wrong about her abuse, this was going to be the outcome. it was always gonna be out the outcome. she was already the go to for “women can lie about it you know, we cant just BELIEVE women, me too has gone too far” and she will continue to be so. because for people who already didn’t believe women she was just the further justification in that belief system they needed.
