Smaugust Day 31: Smaug

The depiction of Smaug in the Rankin & Bass animated Hobbit has always been my favorite. I even own the the VHS! So I couldn't resist doing a little screenshot re-draw in my painting style.

I still really like this old one - I put a lot of time into making him nasty (no wonder my dad still has this framed). I also think the expression has more character to it than the roar I went with this time.
