For me it’s 1, 2, 3, and 6. Especially number 6.
Some Valid Reasons Why One May Not Support CatraDora
Based on various posts I’ve personally seen.
1) They feel like the ship is abusive, unhealthy, etc. (even after Catra’s redemption). 2) They feel the ship was rushed and/or out of place, and/or had no real positive developments prior to season 5. 3) They feel it may not have been the best form of LGBT representation, since Catra was a “villain” (and downright evil in multiple scenes), and tried to hurt the person she was supposedly in love with for most of the series. 4) They feel the fandom is too forgiving of Catra since CatraDora is an LGBT couple. They feel if Catra was a male character, the fandom wouldn’t be as accepting of his (her) actions - and disgusted that the “abused/misunderstood” dude gets the girl in the end for becoming good. They don’t like seeing people more forgiving of bad actions when it’s an LGBT couple, as opposed to a straight couple. 5) They feel there were other ships that had healthier dynamics and were developed better (GlimmaDora). 6) They don’t feel comfortable with the fact that Adora and Catra grew up together in the same “home” with the same “parental figure” (even though that said parental figure was abusive). They saw Adora and Catra more as “sisters” rather than a romantic couple - and feel disturbed now that they’re romantically with each other. (Plus, there was a official book that stated they saw each other as sisters - and apparently there were interviews with some crew members pre-season 5 that said they saw each other as sisters too. Correct me if I’m wrong.)
Please be respectful of people’s dislike towards CatraDora.
Also, feel free to add onto the post.

anyway I am in a mood but while I don’t salt often just know this
this blog is very much spop critical and anti c@tradora. if you like the ship and follow me, I ain’t gonna care. just know I am very critical of it and have reasons to hate it and its triggering. And I won’t hesitate to block idiots
so if you don’t want to see salt or me ripping on the ship i always tag stuff as spop critical, salt, and discourse and i will tag stuff with the anti tag. I am not here to change anyone’s minds or to have my mind change. if you dont mind the salt or have shit blacklists cool. This is just yalls warning since as the year of the end of the show is coming up I am getting more salty so blacklist or ignore me or whatever. Again I dont post salt often but just know that
you do you and I’ll do me which is being salty over this show that brought me so much love only to hurt me badly in the end
#idk if i should tag but yeah#idc if you ship and like it#just fuckin tag it i guess#but yeah tag that shit from me#i dont salt often but hmmmmmmmm#i am not here to change or attack but these are my thoughts#dont like blacklist or something don't argue with me#a lot of yall should know by now#how i feel#but yeah#just respect me and Ill respect you#also my tolerance of c@tra depends on my mood so lol

Hey! I totally respect your opinion but can you please censor your anti catradora tag with something like c*tradora or something because it shows up in the normal tag. I’d really appreciate it!
Anon, this strikes me as a thing where you may get better results from actively curating your social media experience rather than asking me to do it for you. I understand that tumblr collectively has this problem, just look at all the AO3 Discourse, but let’s consider this an opportunity for learning, okay, anon?
My recommendation would be that you go to your Account Settings and add “anti catradora” and “catradora critical” to your filtered tags. That will, in theory, mean that you are spared not only my posts, but also those of other blogs that regularly post this kind of criticism, while allowing the people who are interested in finding my stuff to actually do so, which censoring the tag to “anti c*tradora” would not because I doubt people regularly search for it.
I am entirely willing to add, say, trigger or phobia warnings to my posts, but “could you make your tagging system less useful” isn’t a helpful request, and it’s not going to get you what you want because mine isn’t the only blog that uses those tags regularly for the sort of critique you are trying to avoid.
In the event that this doesn’t work (tumblr being, after all, a mess of spaghetti coding masquerading as a website), feel free to block me! That should ensure you never see any of my posts again. I don’t mind, really. I know that a lot of tumblrs take it really personally, but I’m pretty chill about blocking. If never seeing my posts again would improve your day, just go ahead and block!
Active curation of your social media is such a powerful thing and can vastly improve the experience, and I encourage more people to develop the skills used in doing so. It’s pretty easy to do!
