Favorite band is uhhh hard to answer. I think I'd say Hippo Campus but then that almost feels wrong to say? Mainly because I haven't liked them as long as I have liked other bands. So maybe them? But otherwise I gotta go with some combination of Something Corporate/Jack's Mannequin/Andrew in the Wilderness because it's too hard to pick a single Andrew McMahon band. I guess if I absolutely had to probably Jack's Mannequin? They just mean a whole lot me.

What's something you're proud of?

Pretty proud of the fact that somehow managed to get a master’s degree.

What's something you like about yourself?

Um, do my tattoos count? Otherwise I think I’m pretty funny.

Shadowhunters. Partially the show, partially just being a part of the fandom. I wrote so many good fics, I made great friends. Both of which, along with the show itself, helped me realize I was trans. So yeah. Pretty big impact there.

What's something you wish you could forget? (Could be something personal, or it could just be a gross or weird fact)

Probably not what you were going for, but I wish I could forget Veronica Mars so that I could watch it again for the first time.

What's something you'd like to change about the world?

There are a lot of macro level answers (world peace, climate change) but I want to pick something on a more micro level. I would want all library budgets to increase 50 times what they are now. Actually sorry gotta change this. I want the polar bear dogs from The Legend of Korra to be real and that I could have one as a pet.

oh see I don't mind the original Veronica Mars ending! I think it's a good example of a way you can have your edgy tragedy while still holding to the Good at the heart of the show: Veronica is the kind of person who will go scorched earth to get revenge, no matter what it takes and no matter who she takes down with her - but!! the only way she can do that is she has people she can call on!! she asks Wallace to risk himself for her. she asks Weevil for help, asks him to go back to the dark side with her. and she doesn't ask Logan - but he does defend her! she's a scrappy underdog, but she's totally embedded in a community!!! she is better able to love and trust than when we first met her!

the movie has points I love and points I hate. the revival completely misses the point of everything.

Getting to Know You Game

Three Ships: Oh, friends. I have a million. I'm a massive multishipper. If I don't ship it now, I'm one fic away. I'm easy like that. Drarry. Snarry. Sterek. Whatever you call Scott/Issac. Destiel. Wincest. And. And. And.

First Ship: I'm not certain? Either Sarah/Gabriel from Witchblade or Buffy/Spike from BTVS? But the first big ship that I wrote for (a LOT) was Weever, from Veronica Mars. Oh, that is a blast from the past. Still love them, though.

Last Song: Murder of One by Counting Crows. I adore that song and rediscovered the album recently. Amazing. Probably not the last one I listened to...oh! If you count reels, I think it was Pass That Dutch. Missy Elliot, my beloved.

Last Movie: RWRB. I don't really do the movie theater these days, so I haven't seen Barbie yet. Sticking to Amazon. Looking forward to Nimona, but haven't seen it yet.

Currently Reading: Docile by K.M. Szpara. Unbelievable. It's so good. Rough. Oh, it's hard, but it's So Good. Halfway through and, oh, my heart. Also, always working my way through a lot of Drarry and Snarry. And if you know any good Remus/Harry, I'm interested, PLEASE share.

Currently Watching: Catching up on Doctor Who with a friend of mine. I'm on the second Jodie Whitaker season. I miss the old writers, but I'm here for it. I love Jodie and I'm looking very forward to Ncuti Gatwa.

Last Thing I Wrote: I've been trying to get ahead of kinktober, but the most recent published thing was a little trans!Draco preDrarry thing, The Old is New Again. It's very short and I'm quite happy with it.

Currently Writing: I'm getting ahead of Kinktober, and I am in the middle of a Snape selfcest that has gotten out of hand in a very therapeutic way. Come October, there's a lot of craziness in store... And in November, it's gonna be all about my Drarry psychological horror, Memento Mori. Good stuff, if I do say so myself.

So, out of genuine curiosity, if they were to make spinoffs from Gilmore Girls, what would you like to see?

Personally, I would love to see a spinoff of Jess and someone who could be a version of Jess, like Doula, who we haven't seen. And also, it would be flipping the main idea of Gilmore Girls- from 'mother and daughter being friends' to 'brother and sister being more like a father and daughter'. And then Rory could be like the stand-in version of Luke, and she finds herself pining over him.

Another one, for me, would be Jess's spinoff but with Doula instead, maybe finding a relative and staying with them, eventually trying to piece together her identity as both a Danes and well, TJ's last name...

What do you think of these?

Also, love your AYITL 2 head-canons... Do you have any ideas for Doula and what her relationship could be with Jess? And who do you think should play her? My personal pick is Izabela Vidovic, cause she has the same eyes as Milo Ventimiglia, and she has a very distinct Jess vibe, if you see her in Homefront (2013) and the Veronica Mars reboot.

God I love your asks!! Anyway I never put too much thought to gilmore girls spinoff but however, if we’re talking about next gen thing? i want it to be about Rory’s kids, or rather, the Mariano - Danes family after Liz left again. In my headcanons, Liz leaves again and she never comes back, which lead Luke takes care of Doula as he did with Jess. But Doula is more open and yeah, in a lot of hurt, but she still has her father and her uncle and Lorelai to take care of her. I’d love to see Lorelai - Doula dynamics because I think, by the time Liz would leave, Lorelai is already part of their family at this point. Doula calls Lorelai “Aunt Lor” since she can remember, they are a family and the situation is very different to what it was with Jess.

But I think Jess would struggle with that a lot. With Liz’s leaving again. He’d blame himself over it again and again, he wouldn’t want Doula to feel what he felt since he was 8. But I also think about how he’d never pack her stuff and told her to leave with him. She has her father, and while I don’t think T.J is very bright or smart, I think he would do anything for Doula to make her feel okay again.

I would love to see Rory & Doula relationship! Especially if Doula ain’t book-nerd as her brother and his wife. I think their relationship would be so interesting to explore. Mostly because I don’t think Rory was around when Doula was growing up, not as Luke or Lorelai were.

I see Doula as more of a gamer teenager? She’d love Zombie and Apocalypse shit, her favorite game would definitely be tlou in my opinion and I think she’d make everyone play it!

Doula and April relationship is something that I would love to explore as well! Actually, I would love to explore Rory - April relationship but also April / Jess / Doula relationship with Luke and his different approach to each of them.

I read @lanekim great fanfic the other day (haven’t finished it yet!!!) about how Luke is actually the town dad and how he takes in the kids nobody wants and i think it’s very true and i think he is a father figure to most of the kids of stars hollow, not just to Rory or Jess…

Anyway now I need that Doula spinoff lol 😂

Hey, have y'all watched Poker Face? Someone described it to me like a cross between Columbo and Veronica Mars, which is not exactly accurate? It's extremely Columbo, but only Veronica Mars in that the star is a woman who doesn't put up with people's bullshit. Also, it's produced by Rian Johnson, who did Knives Out and Glass Onion. Anyway, if you haven't seen it, correct that. It's delightful.

Hi! I always love your replies to asks ---so eloquent, insightful and thoughtful! Like you and your OTH anon, I always manage to forget just how awful Nathan is those first five or so episodes of the series - it's hard to believe that's the same guy I end up loving just a few episodes later! I was wondering if you watch TVD and which ships and characters you did and didn't like and whether you had UOs about that series. I have a ton, starting with the fact that Forwood is my favorite ship of the series!

Thank you so much!! I'm blushing, honestly. 💛 I don't think my answers are any of those things LOL. Right? Nathan's character development is great. It happens so organically (though maybe slightly rushed) that you barely realize how much of a transformation has occurred until you return to the beginning of the series. I think there was always potential for growth. With or without Haley, I have to believe Nathan would have become a better man. It's just unlikely to have happened during high school. Without Haley, Nathan wouldn't have found the courage to leave his parents behind to live on his own.

I do watch TVD! The first season, anyways. I haven't watched any further yet. I don't think I've seen enough of the series to have any unpopular opinions or hot takes or anything like that. But so far, my favorite characters are Stefan, Elena and Bonnie. Caroline and Jeremy are both interesting, but I'm not super invested in either of them yet. I'm indifferent to Matt. Tyler has potential, but I think he got off to a really rough start in the pilot where he basically forced himself on Vicky? Damon is the one I can't stand. He's just that cliche, creepy, older dickhead to me. I don't find him particularly entertaining or all that compelling. The second we found out his dad was abusive, I lost any interest (and I didn't really have any to begin with) I may have had in him. That might sound cold, but I feel like an abusive dad is the go-to excuse for problematic male characters to be reprehensible people. I think there are cases where it's mostly well done, like with Nathan as well as Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars. But overall, it's not a plot point I love. Shipping wise, the only relationship I care about as of now is Stelena. I think they're adorable together, even though I'm fully aware how the show ends. That's nice! I haven't seen Tyler and Caroline interact much yet, but I've always secretly thought they were an aesthetically gorgeous couple based on edits I've seen of them. :) You can still send me your unpopular opinions or thoughts if you want! I don't mind spoilers.

Hmmm a very diffucult question. Because it depends on the quality of writing. I've supported, fallen for each of them when they are written perfectly. But lately I haven't seen any good example of "bad boy with a heart of gold". They are either so extreme in terms of evilness which makes you shake your head or show no depth. Also the character must have at least a decent redemption arc.

Himbos in dramas show a rising trend. Clumsy, dork, soft-hearted men are needed, indeed. Doruk Atakul from Kardeşlerim might be a good example for it. Logan Echolls from Veronica Mars (he was kind of a spoiled brat in the beginning like Doruk but his core traits suit this category, I think. By the way Logan and Doruk can write a book named "How my father ruined my girlfriend's life". They share some similarities), Kim Dan from Angel's Last Mission: Love are the other examples I can think of right now.

Angsty moody guys…they are probably the hardest ones to write. Because there is a thin line between being selfish and being tramuatized. It's important to make me feel some sympathy for him otherwise I mostly roll my eyes.

Did not fucking deserve to die on his wedding day.

We’re talking about a guy that lost both of his parents, his brother, two girlfriends. He lost the love of his life for almost a decade. Faced all of that bullshit and got his life together. Became a military officer and a pilot and actually made something of himself. Shook off the poor little rich boy act and went to therapy for his issues. Gained the love of his life back and asked her to marry him. Got turned down but didn’t blame her. Finally got everything he always wanted.

And then he fucking died.

Please someone tell me how this is okay. Please tell me why we watched him literally grow up before our eyes and didn’t get a chance to even say goodbye. Why give him his happy ending just to cut his life short.

Why? Why? Why?

I’ve never been more disgusted by a writing team in my entire life. I’m literally heartbroken, still days later. A character’s death has never affected me this way. I’ve only been a VM fan for 10 years. Can you imagine the people that have been around since the beginning? Can you imagine spending 15 years loving a character to have him cruelly and unnecessarily ripped away from you?

Logan Echolls deserved better.
