Three songs meme: 9, 13, and 16 ^^v
Three Songs Meme -  @namibean
//First of all, sorry that the reply got delayed, the week has been pretty hectic and it was hard to pick the songs but now a couple of days offs ahead so time to Tumblr around xD! Ok, let’s go~!
9: Three songs that describe me
Tumblr media
Arms open by The Script
Arms open would fit anyone for sure but perhaps this song was chosen here and because it describes one of my personality traits, the will to help people in general. Conflicts are stressful so to avoid those, I try to compromise and bend and bend as far as possible and even if there was cloudy behind the scenes, I try to stay by my buddies’ side and I’ve told them many times “whenever you feel bad, text me or call me, if I can’t reply right away, I’ll catch you later”.
Shine by Kwan
Well, this song is somehow similar to the previous one because optimism is also one strong trait. Maybe this is even more #lifegoals. I mean, it’s really hard to read people or there mind and it’s extremely tricky to offer them the right tools to find the light at the end of their tunnel and this is something I face almost daily at work with the disabled youngsters. Some of them wrestle with their inner struggles and we try to help them.
So maybe this song pictures also my goal to see good in everyone. Of course, adulthood has forced me to see also the realities, I mean that at least at our work there are residents who are not feeling well and no matter how much we offer tools and helping hands, it’s hard to make them see the potential what they have but just like in civil life, I try to encourage people in all the ways I can and have resource to do that and try to find potential in everyone.
Koko kuva by Irina
It’s obvious, that people have different kinds of way to describe the person they know. Funny enough, most of the acquaintances think I’m social and easygoing but just like with everyone else, there is more below the surface. Only the closest friends and my sister know that behind the smile and neverending optimism there is also a jar of insecurities, mostly due to the badly gone friendships in these past few years. Those unfortunate events released the old hounds that’s why this Irina’s song is still relatable (translated lyrics here [x]). Shortly translated and summed it up it’s about telling someone “Hey, here I am, letting my walls down but you might get disappointed because this is who I really and you are not a bad person if you go away but thank you for staying by my side”
13: Three of the softest songs I own
//but  I’m not musician, these songs aren’t mine? xD
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
A big part of released songs ever are mostly interpreted and associated with romantic relationships and it’s kind of cheesy, in my opinion, because after all, romance is indeed a biological need, mostly but also a cultural thing and yes most people want families but also people who don’t want and want to live without “the better” part shouldn’t be trashed for their decisions.
I’m not sure if the previous rant had anything real to do but anyway, Chasing cars is a song at least for me is to appreciate those small moments between the hectic life when I can just sit down and enjoy the company of my friends or family.   All in all, very soothing from the melody to the lyrics and gives some relaxing vibes no matter how busy or tense the situation would be.
Sinun vaikka hajoat by Happoradio
I think I’ve namedropped this song before but this is the very best from this band. Lyrics are pretty poetic and beautiful (translation here [x]). Shortly said, it’s about standing by someone else’s side no matter how big their struggles were, true friendship, love and brother/sisterhood!
Yuki No Hana by Mika Nakashima /  눈의 꽃 (Snow Flower)  by  Park Hyo Shin
It’s a shame that I don’t know many Asian dramas because they seem to have beautiful musical compositions as their theme songs. Well, once upon a time there was a series called I’m Sorry, I Love You which was probably the first Kdrama I remember I saw. It had Park Hyo Shin’s version (translated here [x] and I first fell in love with the melody so had to later google it around and found that it’s a korean version of Mika Nakashima’s song (translation here [x]) and after listening them for many times, all I can say is that they are both good and give goosebumps *thumbs up*
16: Three songs that I always laugh at
Dilbar Dilbar by Sirf Tum (buffalaxed version)
Being meme trash who laughs at weird shiet, the internet is full of randomness and probably good example of this is these so-called “Buffalaxed” videos that are basically foreign songs getting “English” lyrics based on imagination and so on xD
It seems like this “translation” trend was more popular thing about 10 years ago and  then came youtube poops but anyway I remember watching this with my mates every IT classes we had in high school and although it not as funny as then it’s still amusing and full of nostalgia xD
 The 7th Element  by  Vitas
This is probably the dankest meme song I’ve ever heard and truly a spirit lifter no matter how many times someone spams me with this xD What makes it even more hilarious is that I asked my friend who speaks Russian that does the part before that legendary Hahahaha blblblblbl-part  mean anything and she said “I came here (to sing)” XD
Making my Mom Rap like Eminem! by Nigahiga
Following youtubers (not sure which is the right term but in Finnish we call them “tubettajat”) isn’t my thing because I’m very lazy, not just to follow but also to search great content funny animals are always exception and I really am annoyed how YT has changed throughout the years and for example, one reason I partly lost my interest to making amvs is that nowadays it’s hard to find audience and again the laziness is on the way to lure them back. In addition to that my old account got deleted and since the copyright thingies are strict,  so I had to make a new channel [x] and in general, it’s just not that worthy I’m lazy to spend hours to make videos for a handful of views ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ok, back to the main talk, Ryan Higa on one of the rarest Youtube accounts I check regularly. He has done lots of videos at approx. a decade and he definitely deserved to be the number 1 most subscribed channel.  His sense of humor is amazing and how he makes the videos with his heart and he doesn’t need to overact or swear or disrespect others, unlike one certain channel that embarrassed whole America with that adventure of his that even reached the top page with scandalous click bait, just to get few views because he has natural talent to be a comedian and has an awesome gang to work with!
Even better is the fact that he is a king of puns and this song is undeniable the ultimate proof of that. Shortly said, he made his mom (who seemed to be precious person) “rap” a song. Higa deserves all the respect because like in his productions, this guy again made so much effort on this project and this song is definitely some good dang gold and everyone should see this at least once in their lives! *laughs*

I think R.I.P. Screw by Travis Scott counts, yeah? 6. which genres of music do you tend to like the best? Pop and house, lately rap as well 7. what is the best concert you’ve ever been to? Both Tokio Hotel concerts (so the Humanoid tour in 2010 and The Dream Machine Tour 2017), if I had to pick one I’d pick the more recent one as I remember more of it 8. song of the year? BUTTERFLY EFFECT by Travis Scott 9. album of the year? It’s an EP but My Dear Melancholy, by The Weeknd. If I had to say an album I’d say Sweetener by Ariana Grande, but I don’t love or have all the songs on my heavy rotation from said album, whereas all the songs from Weekdn’s EP are all over my playlists 10. what are the best songs your parents have gotten you into? 11. how did you first find out about your favorite band/singer? I think Tokio Hotel simply were just big in Europe back then and half our class were obsessed with them, as was I. So I suppose through hype, simply put 12. when/where do you first remember having heard your favorite song? I don’t remember where exactly but I have faint memories of sitting on a bus listening to Woman by Harry Styles and loving it from the get-go. No fucking clue! 14. if someone asks you what music they should check out, what are your go-to recommendations? Tokio Hotel, One Direction, Cher Lloyd, and some random Finnish artists  19. how did you feel about music as a kid? 20. what was your first concert? if you haven’t been to one, what do you want your first concert to be? I wish I could say the Tokio Hotel one was my first but it was this Finnish artist called Anna Abreu
PERFORMANCE 21. how do live performances, whether they’re from your friends or professionals, tend to make you feel? I love live performances. They always give new colours to songs you often already love or have you falling for songs you never thought you’d enjoy. The atmosphere is out of this world which is thrilling 22. singing in the shower or singing in the car? Car, absolutely 23. if you were to become a musician, what kind of musician would you be? Realistically someone like Selena Gomez, in my dreams someone like Ariana Grande (do take the term realistically very loosely here) 24. if you could pick one instrument to learn how to play, what would it be? Piano! I’ve wanted to learn it for so long and I’ve even tried, to no avail unfortunately 25. what is your singing voice like? what singers do you remind yourself of? Low range, uneducated, not all that pleasant. I think if I worked on my voice it’d be something like Selena Gomez’s. 26. have you ever been involved in any music programs? which ones and for how long? 27. which instruments do you know how to play? what’s your skill level? 28. if you took music lessons as a kid, are you glad you did? if not, do you wish you had?

LYRICS 36. what are some songs whose lyrics you relate to? That Day by Tokio Hotel, Home by One Direction, Better by Tokio Hotel, everytime by Ariana Grande 37. pick a song and analyse its lyrics I’m too tired for my own analysis but one I think about often is an analysis of Alive by One Direction; if you change the pronouns from “she” to “he”, the song gets a whole new meaning that’s very comforting to fellow gays out there My mother told me I should go and get some therapy I asked the doctor, "Can you find out what is wrong with me? I don't know why I wanna be with every guy I meet. I can't control it. Yeah, I know it's taking over me. I'm going crazy. Can't contain it. So tell me just what I should do?" She said, "Hey, it's alright. Does it make you feel alive? Don't look back, Live your life, Even if it's only for tonight." She said, "Hey, it's alright If it makes you feel alive." Went to a party just after the doctor talked to me I met a guy, I took him right up to the balcony I whispered something in his ear that I just can't repeat He said, "OK," but he was worried what his friends will think He’s going crazy Can't contain it He asked me, "What should I do, oh?" I said, "Hey, it's alright. Does it make you feel alive? Don't look back, Live your life, Even if it's only for tonight." I said, "Hey, it's alright If it makes you feel alive." 38. which songs do you think have the best lyrics? Any song by Tokio Hotel, Woman by Harry Styles 39. what are some songs whose lyrics you think most people just don’t get? Honestly I think everybody “gets” the lyrics of every song in their each way. That’s the beauty of music, innit. It’s up to everyone’s own interpretation what each song means to them 40. are there any musicians whose lyrics you particularly tend to like? Yea! Tokio Hotel (so Bill Kaulitz), I can’t think of one song of his which has lyrics I don’t love. Also all the lyrics on Harry Styles’ self-titled album were amazing and I’ve loved his work in the band as well so it’s safe to say he’s also one of said musicians. Not to mention Louis Tomlinson! 41. do you prefer songs that have good melodies or songs that have good lyrics? Depends entirely on the song. If it’s going to be a favourite or one that sticks around at least then the lyrics do play a bigger part than the melody, melodies just don’t stick the same. So I guess I sort of answered it after all; lyrically good
CHALLENGES 42. name five songs you like that were released in the 90s. Torn by Natalie Imbruglia (I do much prefer the One Direction cover, sos), Pony by Ginuwine, You’re Still The One by Shania Twain, Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio, I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys 43. name five songs you like that were released at least 50 years ago. 44. write a parody of at least a verse of any song you’d like. 45. name 5 songs you can’t stand. 46. look at your country’s song charts, listen to the first unfamiliar song you can find, and share your opinion on it. 47. turn a song lyric into a pickup line. "Now I never had my dick sucked by a man befo, but you gonna be the first, you lil trick-ass ho" Didn’t have to do shit 48. name the last 5 songs you listened to. Tied Down by Jaymes Young, Dare by The Hunna, Sun by Two Door Cinema Club, Kathleen by Catfish and the Bottlemen, Golden Skans by Klaxons
RANDOM 49. what are your favorite album covers?  Catfish and the Bottlemen - The Balcony, Tokio Hotel - Love Who Loves You Back (issa single cover but it’s Magnificent I tell ya) 50. any cover versions that you think are better than the original? Plenty! A great example being One Direction’s cover of Torn 51. how often do you listen to music? Daily 52. do you collect vinyls? if so, what have been your best finds? No, jus regular CDs until I get my own record player 53. if you could meet any musician you’d like, who would it be? Aaah Bill for sure I think! Harry would be lovely too but I’ve loved Bill from 2007 and meeting him would be everything 54. how do you feel about classical music? I’m here for it 55. would you ever want to have a career in music? 56. if you had a stage name, what would it be? 57. on a scale of 1 to 10, how important is music to you? 58. how do you feel about rap music? Y’know, even earlier this year I would’ve said I don’t get it, but I attended a festival and met some amazing people who completely changed my view on rap music and I’m a massive slut for it these days. Before, the only rap I’d listen to was Eminem 59. what do you think the best “era” for music was? 60. how has music affected you as a person?

Soundtrack of my life - Finnish edition
https://itunes.apple.com/fi/playlist/soundtrack-of-my-life-finnish-edition/idpl.dfd25ebb598149c5bc347a1fb9259a7f
Despite of the fact that only as a ten-year-old I started taking piano lessons, music has been a big part of my life. As a kid I absolutely loved Finnish music because that was something I could actually sing along to and understand the lyrics of - at least in some way. As I got older I had a phase when I didn’t listen to any Finnish music, until now when I have realised that there is great Finnish music that deserves to be listened. Many of the songs that I have listed here bring great memories to my mind and therefore the tracks truly deserve their place on the soundtrack.
  Ei - Maija Vilkkumaa
Ei is a song I remember listening to on every Saturday morning with my older sister after our tennis lesson. Back when cars had a CD player, we would skip the three first songs on the disc so that we could hear our favourite song of 2005. Even though I have been a fan of Maija Vilkkumaa since I was 5 years old, I hadn’t seen her live until she performed at the Helsinki-päivä -concert last summer.
Romeo Ja Julia - Pikku G
When saying “I never listen to rap”, I really mean it. Still as a five or six-year-old all we would listen to when in car was Maija Vilkkumaa and Pikku G. Pikku G used to be one of my absolute favourites back then. I also remember being in his open air concert somewhere in Helsinki with my family, but even my parents have no clue when and where that was. We have tried to google his tour dates from the years 2005-2007 but yet we haven’t found any answers.
Kun Katsoit Minuun - Anna Eriksson
Anna Eriksson is an artist that makes me miss the iPod times. My dad bought one of the earliest iPods and from then on we would continuously sing and dance to Maija Vilkkumaa, Pikku G and Anna Eriksson. I remember especially the times when we would throw birthday parties and our parents would tell us to put some music on. It was always Anna Eriksson me and my sisters would play.
In the Shadows - The Rasmus
The Rasmus is a band that my mother introduced me to. Lauri Ylönen - the lead singer of the band - used to live in the same area as I and one year on Easter me and my friends knocked at Lauri’s door by accident, dressed as witches and easter bunnies. He came to the door toothbrush in the other hand, only dressed in a bathrobe. Few seconds later after we had said the “Virvon varvon, tuoreeks terveeks…”, he gave us his half eaten pack of salty liquorice. Since then when talking about meeting celebrities I have told people this story. Later in life I have realised that The Rasmus has actually some listening worthy music and I am so glad they just made a comeback with their new single Paradise.
Hollywood Hills - Sunrise Avenue
After getting to know The Rasmus it didn’t take long until I started also listening to Sunrise Avenue. The Hollywood Hills is a song that I remember from an 8th grade german-exchange. I had just gotten into the car with the girl and her family whom I would spend the next week with when Hollywood Hills started playing on the radio. It wasn’t only me who got hyped because of the song, but also my exchange student.
  Mikä Kesä? - Valvomo
This is a song that I still spend the summers listening to. When hearing Mikä Kesä? I remember the summers spent on our backyard by the pool with friends and family. This song always keeps making me smile.
C’est La Vie - Anna Puu
C’est La Vie used to be my best friend’s favourite song back in the elementary school and just like Mikä Kesä?, Anna Puu’s album Anna Puu makes me remember the summers spent outside in the sun. We would spent hours with my best friend on her trampoline in her backyard jumping to the rhythm of the album, which she had downloaded to her Nokia 2730 phone.
  Paperilennokki - Robin
Robin has had a huge impact on my life even though at first, in 2012, I hated him wholeheartedly, but now, oh boy how many memories there are relating to Robin. I have been in his concerts - even travelled to Turku - and met him few times in random occasions. We also took part in a KiVa-koulu competition where the prize was to get Robin and Elastinen to perform at your school and as incredible as it seemed we did win the competition. The other time I met Robin was at Malmi Airport at his concert and I remember him doing a whole new version of Paperilennokki which I liked the second I heard it. In general, Robin is an artist I idolize because of his skill to remain such a normal teenager and also because of his great amount of talent which can be proven to be real in his concerts.
  The Sirens - Softengine
I’ve been listening to Softengine’s music ever since they performed at Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu. I like their music and they are the reason why I have started exploring Finnish music again. I have also seen Softengine live in Stoa and Linnanmäki and compared to any other gigs I’ve been to, they are so far the most awkward band I have ever seen because of their lack of performing talent. However, their music is great no matter if you are hearing them live or streaming their music on Spotify.
Kiitos Ei Ole Kirosana - Haloo Helsinki!
Haloo Helsinki! is actually a band that my dad made me listen to. Especially Kiitos Ei Ole Kirosana used to be a track he would play in the car on repeat and keep on telling how great the lyrics are. Ever since my dad brainwashed me with this song, Kiitos Ei Ole Kirosana (as an album) has been one of my absolute favourites of all the times.
Elämä Lupaa Mulle - Elias Kaskinen & Päivän Sankarit
Few years back I was on a skiing camp in Lapland. Before we hopped on the bus on the night we were heading back home, we all got together in a church chapel just right next to our cabin. There was this guy sitting at the grand piano telling us that he was going to play us his just released single and some other songs from his upcoming album. I remember some of the girls going crazy while I had no clue who he was. Latter after doing some googling I learnt that the guy was Elias Kaskinen from Elias Kaskinen & Päivän Sankarit. I think he’s a cool guy and I really like his music.
  Syyskuun kyy - Lauri Tähkä
It all started when Lauri Tähkä was a mentor in Voice of Finland ages ago. From then on I used to hate him more than rap music. Last spring me and my older sister started listening to Lauri Tähkä’s music because we thought it was funny and well suddenly it wasn’t funny anymore when we realised that we had both started to like his music. Last November we went to see his concert at Savoy theater and I can tell you that we were the youngest in the audience. Why I have Syyskuun kyy on my playlist is because in his concert Lauri himself didn’t even know the lyrics and he got it messed all the time.
