Tumblr: A Beginners Guide
Hello and welcome to Tumblr!
If you're new here, this post is a little guide meant to help you understand how things work on Tumblr. I’m going to give you some guidelines and explain a little bit about Tumblr culture. Hopefully, this will help you settle in, avoid unnecessary pitfalls and enjoy your time here. I hope you’ll like it here on our hellsite (affectionate).
1. First and most importantly, please change your userpic and put something on your blog.
If you don’t, other users will think you're a bot and you'll be reported/blocked. It’s nothing personal but we are at war with the bot accounts. Most older users will automatically assume that a blank blog= bot.
You don’t need to do much. If you aren’t comfortable rebloging things or making your own posts yet, just change your userpic and add a short description to your blog.
Here’s an example of a description you can use.
‘Hi! I’m new here. I’m still working out how this place works but I promise I’m not a bot so please don’t block me.’
2. Go to your settings, then to your dashboard settings and change things to how you like them. I suggest-
Make Tumber show you posts in chronologically order, rather than pushing ‘best stuff first’
Pick a colour palate that doesn’t give you a headache
Make Tumblr show timestamps on posts and reblogs. While a post is never too old to reblog, you don’t want to accidentally signal boost something as ‘news’ when it's acutely years out of date and no longer relevant.
Choose not to shorten long posts
3. Go to the top of your dashboard, press on the toggle and arrange things how you like them.
I suggest pinning your ‘Following’ first. It means that when you go to your dashboard, the first thing you’ll see are the blogs that you’ve actively chosen to follow.
Some older users will tell you that the ‘For You’ page is useless and should be ignore. This is because for a long time it was either non-existent or terrible so most older users – myself included – just don’t bother with it.
However, nowadays it’s fine so use it if you want. ‘Following’ should still probably be pinned first though because you know what you like better than the algorithm.
4. Please don’t censor your words here. Tumblr doesn’t shadow ban you for saying random words.
Shadow banning does happen but it’s mostly at random or because you were targeted by trolls. If it happens to you, you’ll need to fight to get unshadow banned.
The point is that you won’t get shadow banned for saying ‘death,’ ‘murder’ or ‘rape.’ Don’t do things like saying ‘graped’ instead of ‘raped.’ If you do, you’re just going to piss people off and make it harder for people to avoid triggers.
5. Don’t spam the tags!
You can ramble in the tags all you want and nobody will mind. However, if you tag an unrelated post with a popular tag, you will be reported for spamming. It’s against the Tumblr terms and conditions, it’s annoying and it’s something the porn bots do.
6. Please, reblog things. It helps posts spread a lot more than liking them does. Think of your blog as a scrap book where you put stuff you like.
If you aren’t comfortable adding to a post, that’s fine. Just reblog it and share it with others.
7. That said, Tumblr posts are collaborative and we like it when you add to them. It doesn’t have to be much. You don’t have to add something every time you reblog a post but it is a part of the fun to do it sometimes.
If it’s an art or fanfic post comments like; ‘good post op,’ ‘I LOVE THIS!’ or even ‘OUCH my heart!!!’ will make an OP’s day.
If it’s another sort of post; you can add your thoughts or join in on committing to the bit. Try matching the energy the post is already giving.
8. The follow and block buttons are your friend. You decide what you see here. If your dashboard doesn’t spark joy, you can always follow someone new and/or follow an interesting tag. If someone is making your time here unpleasant unfollow and/or block them.
9. Tumblr likes to commit to the bit. Sharks are smooth (they are not) and the 1973 Martin Scorsese movie ‘Goncharov’ is the greatest film ever made (it doesn’t exist).
10. A post is never too old to reblog. We like old posts here.
Every now and again, you will see a post that is over ten years old. The reblogs will probably be full of people expressing delight about seeing the original post again or seeing it for the first time.
11. You don’t want to be Tumblr famous.
There are niche blogs that are dedicated to one thing and are well liked e.g. @the-haiku-bot (the one bot we love), @writing-prompt-s and @cantheykillmacbeth. However, they are either side blogs or blogs run by multiple people.
Your main blog should just be somewhere you like to spend your time. There are no benefits to being Tumblr famous on your main blog.
12. Tumblr spreads news with this meme
13. Tumblr loves dates. Whether it’s the Ides of March (it sure would be a shame if certain world leaders got stabbed), Halloween (which we start celebrating in about July) or just a random day of the week e.g. ‘Out of Touch Thursday’ there is always something happening that you can celebrate.
14. The staff always pulls a silly and harmless prank on Apil Fools Day. Last year we got to boop each other.
15. We like a silly poll
Okay, I think that’s the basics covered. You’ll get the hang of everything else as you go along.
I hope you have fun here and that you manage to avoid Apollo’s dodgeball of prophecy (try not to joke about a specific way things could get worse or you might be hit).
Yours faithfully,
A Tumblr Cockroach

How would vil feel if we ended up commiting suicide somehow
I'm going to assume this is in relation to the fic I recently posted. The answer is going under a cut!
Vil would lose it. Everyone deals with grief in a different way, and with Vil, he'd become more cruel and easy to offend. He turns one of his late darling's old shirts into a pillow, using stuffing from the very same that they used to lay their head on, cut a lock of their hair and keep it in a locket, close to his heart, and I'm sure you can imagine that he'd get incredibly touchy at the very mention of them.
He's not one to brood but he starts brooding. Every so often, he seems fine (he's a good actor,) but then it's like a dark cloud is cast over the room. It's impossible to talk to him about it, since that's a point in which he is more likely to snap at someone.
To put it as simply as possible, he takes it very hard. Regardless of his brutal actions, I think he would be one of the few twst boys to actually love his darling in some capacity. He only swept up his darling so he could keep them safe, but now they're gone and under his care as well. It's a blow to both his heart and his ego, and it leads to many sleepless nights where he thinks of them.

reminder/tip, particularly for newer pjo fans: do not crosstag!
for those who don't know, crosstagging is tagging irrelevant tags on a post, usually popular tags to try and get more views on the post.
Tumblr doesn't work the same way instagram or tiktok or twitter does. Crosstagging is considered spam, and your blog will be flagged if you do this.
particularly in pjo fandom, crosstagging includes tagging characters that don't actually appear in the post, tagging books or series unrelated to the post (like tagging "TSATS" on a post not specifically about TSATS, or tagging HoO on a post about first series specifically, etc.), tagging "pjo fanfic" or "pjo headcanon" or similar on a post that, obviously, isn't that, and/or tagging irrelevant ships. More recently, this also includes tagging the show (PJO TV, etc) on posts that are completely irrelevant to the show.
This mostly only applies for original posts - Tags you put on reblogs only apply to your own blog's organizational system, and has no bearing on the original post itself. But it's really annoying to the original poster if you spam tags, because it will appear in their notifs. It's pointless to spam tags in reblogs for these reasons regardless, so it's best not to.
just remember: crosstagging is not allowed on tumblr, doesn't work that way here anyways, and is just generally rude. so don't do it.
#pjo#riordanverse#percy jackson#< pretty much the only character tag that's okay to put on most pjo posts#because it's also the series name#though personally for this blog i just use ''riordanverse'' and ''pjo'' and my general main tags#also. don't. crosstag on ao3. ao3 doesnt have an algorithm or anything. it's an *archive.*#crosstagging/tagging just for visibility is against ao3 policies and pointless to begin with#and please do not censor tags on ao3 or tumblr. particularly content warnings#there is no shadowban system on either platform. all it does is make it harder for people who actually need those warnings#and are trying to not see them. because they will not have blocked the exact censoring of that phrase you decided to use

Hey hey hey listen to me [snaps my fingers in front of your face] you’re not going to be mean to kids joining Tumblr because TikTok got banned right? You’re not going to make fun of them because they’re ‘cringe’, especially on the supposed ‘cringe is dead’ app, right? You’re not going to go out of your way to just be hostile to children because you don’t like them, right?
“Oh but they deserve it, they’re annoying” cunts were saying that shit about you when you were ‘uwuing’ and ‘smol beaning’ on here in 2015. Kids will always be annoying and your generation, nor will you, ever be an exception to that rule. This app isn’t like an exclusive club, be fucking nice for once.
Edit: Since some people have brought it up in here tags
“Most of the TikTok kids aren’t going here, they’re going to Red Note” That’s fine, in fact, I’m very happy to see the Chinese community there welcoming them with open arms! However, it’s not like we aren’t going to have any kids join this site. I’ve already seen some join before the ban was imminent and most of them are children fandom artists. I stand by what I said, be nice to them.
If they don’t understand the culture here, teach them in a way that isn’t outright rude! Tell them about the lack of an algorithm and the fact they have to follow people for content! Tell them reblogs are more important than likes! Tell them they can leave notes for the OP or for the person they reblogged it from in the tags; that you can treat it like a little diary if you want!
And most of all, tell them that it’s okay, they don’t have to censor themselves here. After years of being on that app they’ve grown used to it, but you have to get it through their head that censoring words like ‘Kill’ ‘Murder’ ‘Rape’ ‘Pedophile’ isn’t helping ANYONE, they’re just making it harder for folks who have those tags blocked to be able to filter them out. Help them kill the cop in their brain and make sure they don’t fall into purity culture. Help them be cringe and free.
#I’ve seen some people being unnecessarily mean to kids on here recently and I’m psi-blasting you into the sun#can yall be fucking nice to kids? they’re going HELL these days and feel hopeless and like there is NOTHING they can do to stop it.#be kind; or at the very fucking least just block them. I shouldn’t have to tell you not to send death threats to children.#tiktok#tiktok ban#prince rambles in this chilies tonight

some etiquette tips for quotev migrants
If you enjoy a post (piece of art, text post, writing, gifset, etc) interact however you would have on quotev!
Reblogging is like reposting an activity, but with a permanent link to op, and you can add your own thoughts in the tags or on the post itself. Very nifty. It's that little 🔄 symbol at the bottom.
Likes are a good short-form validation, and also a way to save posts so you can find them again later.
Comments are good for sharing your thoughts without having the post on your account for whatever reason.
Tags are optional, but useful for both organization and extra commentary that will stay on your blog (unless someone likes your tags. Then they may copy/screenshot and add to the post, or copy them in their own tags.)
if you trigger tag something, don't censor the trigger. That will only make it harder for people who have that tag blocked to avoid it.
"Copying is ok" rules for tags don't apply to art; art is to be reblogged, not copy-pasted, unless given permission from the artist. It's also polite to credit an artist if you use their art for a header/pfp, and/or ask beforehand!
That said, gifs are free game pretty much, since they have built-in credit to whoever uploaded them.
When posting images it's helpful to use the alt text feature to add a description, or add one in the body of the post below or above the picture, since A; it's helpful for those who use screen readers, and B; sometimes pictures don't load and the description is sometimes vital to tell what the heck's going on, screenreader or no.
Ask boxes are for things you don't mind being publicly viewed; messages are for private discussions.
Anonymous asks are optional, meaning some people may have them turned off. Anon hate is unfortunately common and many people opt to avoid it.
Block and report bots on sight. Report for spam/bot violations; even if they're an nsfw bot, reporting for sexual content won't do anything to get rid of them. Bots are pretty recognizable when you know what to look for, as their blog will either be blank/have a insta model pfp and generic URL, or...be full of untagged porn.
Bots come in waves; there'll be a lot at once, then they'll die off to a handful, then eventually come back. It's a neverending battle!
You can block tags to avoid seeing content you don't like. To do this you go into "account" in the settings menu, and type whatever you wanna block in the content filters section.
Turn on timestamps! That way you can know if info is outdated, or just in general have a time frame for when something was made.
Block rather than argue. You'll be happier in the long run. Hell, even if someone just kinda gets on your nerves or yucks your yum, but especially if it's serious, since reporting does next to nothing and arguing just won't change someone who's stuck in their ways, and it's not your job to fix everyone who's wrong. Block their account and if you want, block their name on the filtered content. Chances are they won't even know or care so don't worry that it's rude.
Most of all, have fun!
That's all I can think of for now. My askbox is open if there are any questions!

Welcome to the DNI Hall of Shame. This is a blog for DNI lists that are confusing, vague, aggressive, impractical, or super picky. It's meant to shine a light on the pointlessness of DNI lists, and hopefully with some laughs here and there! :)
Run by Bean.
🌺 FAQ: 🌺
Can I submit a DNI list?
Yep! Just use the "submit" button. You can send a screen grab or text. Please censor all usernames and handles.
What kinds of DNI lists are accepted?
You can submit a DNI list if it contains one or more of the following things:
Death threats or wishes
"General criteria" or "etc"
Name-calling, dehumanization, or pejoratives
Things that are impossible to confirm from looking at someone's blog, or that isn't always readily apparent in casual conversation, such as age, gender, ethnicity, what media they like (which is not always the same as what they post on their blog), what they ship (see previous), or if they're a racist/TERF/etc
Terms that are defined incorrectly (such as defining proship as "pedo apologists")
Conflating interest in a fictional scenario, relationship, or character with "supporting it" in real life
Purity culture or kink-shaming rhetoric
It tries to check as many performative, common-sense boxes as possible
A ridiculously long list of criteria in general
Check out some posts on this blog for examples!
What isn't accepted?
Screen grabs with visible usernames/handles
DNI lists that only say "minors DNI"
What happens after I submit a DNI list?
The admin will review it and queue it for posting. Depending on how big the queue is, your submission may take a while to appear on the blog. Please be patient!
Can I put multiple images in the same submission?
Tumblr only allows you to upload one image on the submission page, but you can add the urls of other images in the text field. They will all be posted together. Please ensure the urls work prior to sending, so the admin can view them!
Why must usernames/handles be censored?
This blog operates on a strict no-harassment and no-brigading policy.
Are all submissions anonymous?
Yes! All submissions are posted as fresh posts without any identifying info. The initial submission page may ask for your username or email, but this won't be published.
Why are DNIs pointless?
Many blogs have explained this in much greater detail, but DNIs shift the onus of curating your internet experience onto other people, and makes your comfort other peoples' responsibility. They are based on the faulty presumption that you can control what others do online. You can ask people for courtesies, but they'll interact if they really want to - or if they simply don't see your DNI!
On that note, DNIs are very ineffectual on sites like tumblr, where posts are meant to be shared all over the place, on many different blogs - yet all of those interactions still show up in the original poster's notes, even if many of the people creating the notes are on OP's DNI. The definition of "interact" also changes between people, making it even harder to pin down an exact meaning and thus, how to conduct oneself. Some people define it as following and commenting on their blog, while others define it as simply leaving a "like" on some random person's reblog of a post, way off in the other corner of tumblr.
All of this is why it is better to practice healthy blocking, and simply state you will block certain people, as opposed to telling them not to interact with you, when they may not even see your DNI. After all, this site is designed for quick post sharing, and no one is going to check blogs every time they like or reblog a post... Even if they themselves have a DNI. Admin has lost track of how many people listed them in their DNI, but liked and reblogged their posts anyways!
Admin info?
Admin is in their early 30s and has been in fandom for over 15 years. No nonsense, practical, critical thinker! Here for a good time, and to poke fun at some of the super ridiculous things people get up to on social media these days.
Tags below the cut.
basic criteria death wish how could you know long performative purity culture vague wrong definition not a dni announcement answered

I wanna ask your opinion on people who ship Tsukasa with like, Kou or Mitsuba? Most of the AU’s or arts Aidairo do either have him close with one or the other. Or both. That one witch AU had him be friends with both of them. There were like two banners where he and Mitsuba were together I think, but the anime merch tended more to Tsukasa & Mitsuba than they did (I think, I can’t remember much art they posted) but the fandom seems to grab their pitchforks and threaten ANYONE who ships Tsukasa with them, or anyone of his age, claiming Tsukasa is a monster and a demon and that people who ship him are abuse apologists. Do you like, agree with that?
So I’m gonna be completely honest here, and I mean this in the most lighthearted way possible, I am not your mother. There are certain ships I deeply dislike, and I will shade those if I want to, but I make sure to censor them so they don’t end up in the tags of people who enjoy the ships. Even with ships that are deemed universally bad, I have no interest in arguing with anyone. My anxiety issues are too bad to carry out internet arguments anyway and also it’s so much easier and more fun to just block people
Equally, I cannot control what other fans do. I don’t agree with ship hate because it gets people nowhere, the person you’re telling to kys is only going to ship that thing harder out of spite. Some fans feel that they have a moral obligation to call out certain ships, and I don’t really have an opinion on that. If you strongly feel that you need to do something then that’s your business, not mine. I may not approve of the hate, or I may not approve of the ships themselves, but either way both are going to continue to exist
I’m not gonna ship Tsukasa with anyone because I headcanon him as aroace. I think some of the rarepairs are funny but I still won’t actively engage with them. Certain ships with him also make me uncomfortable, and yes that includes the ones with him and Mitsuba or Kou. I don’t want to see them so I’ll just block those tags and creators. I may not assume they’re horrible people, but I still don’t want to see the creations they make so they get blocked. I think everybody would have a much nicer internet experience if they realized they can block people for stupid reasons
All this to say, I’m not going to tell you what you can and cannot ship. There’s not really a point in being like “this ship is toxic, you can’t like it” when many fans ship things because they’re toxic or problematic. I’m also not a total hater, I can see edits of Mitsuba and Tsukasa and be like “hey that’s pretty good.” But the ship itself still makes me intensely uncomfortable so I’m gonna avoid it, unless it’s a past toxic relationship that ends in Mitsuba and Kou. I do think they’d be a funny friendship duo in AUs but even then I prefer to see Mitsuba with the Toilet Gang
Thank you for the ask, I hope none of this came off as rude. I just feel like I am not the best authority on what pairings people should and shouldn’t be allowed to ship lol, that’s more of a subjective thing. And I literally ship Louis and Lestat which is arguably way worse than Tsukasa with Kou or Mitsuba so yeah, I have no room to talk lol

Tumblr Etiquette
There are a few things that have changed on Tumblr in the last year due to the Twitter diaspora and perhaps just change over time. To keep Tumblr the vibrant and useful site it's been in the past, two of these things need to revert to prior standard and ironically both have to do with tagging.
Tag every post's topic, whether it's a fandom, a sport, a hobby
Use the actual words; do not censor or use leetspeak
Tags work differently on Tumblr than they do on Insta and Elon's caged bird site. Tags are less about discovery through the platform as we don't use a shitty algorithm. While you can search for specific tags, that interface is a fucking nightmare full of glitches and frustration. I'm more likely to do a browser search adding in Tumblr and the tag (so the tag is still helpful). Tags allow Tumblr users to curate their experience. Whether you're using built-in features or the essential add on of Tumblr Savior, we can block the terms, topics, fandoms, and other content we don't want to see. You can block topics that annoy, bore, or trigger you. There's no judgement in blocking tags. We don't all share 100% of each other's interests, and when someone I follow gains a new interest that I don't share, I don't have to wade through the morass to get the posts I still want from them.
Using censored or leetspeak tags makes it harder for your audience to block the things they don't want to see. In my posts explaining that the word 'Gypsy' is a slur, I don't censor 'Gypsy' with clever asterisks, because then people have to block every iteration that people come up with.
TLDR: Tag your posts appropriately or people will stop following you because you're ruining the experience.

i will always appreciate people who tag triggers on their posts, but please don’t censor them when you do.
writing something like tw: de*th or tw: m*rder bypasses the filters and will still show in search results which makes it harder for people to properly block the tags.

Hi!! I mean this in a non-accusatory way, but just so you're aware, if you sensor tags (k!nk, 0rgasm, etc) it actually makes it harder for others to filter out and avoid. If that's not a priority for you then you can go ahead and just ignore this haha but a lot of people don't know that so I just wanted to share!! Have a lovely day 😊
Hi! Thanks for the message I don't take it as accusatory at all.
I tend to use those tags as they're a way for people to see them in the search function for my own posts. If I use the uncensored tags, they won't show up outside of people who follow me so they reach a smaller audience as tumblr has a good majority of them blocked.
I try to keep the ones I use consistent so people can block them if they need to! I've also seen some people have the tags they use for certain kinks listed in a linked post or on their pinned so people can go through and block them as needed.
However with other people's posts that I reblog, I am thinking of changing it so I'm using censored tags just to make it easier on my followers that have particular squicks or triggers they want to avoid.
Would be interested in seeing other people's POVs on this though!

tumblr guide for any new users that may be coming from tiktok (or just new users in general)
Following people is the best algorithm you can get.
We didn't have a for you page until pretty recently. So the tumblr "algorithm" for a while I was just searching and following people. Don't be shy. Go follow anyone who peaks your interest to start building your dashboard.
Don't use tiktok censoring. Seriously. You can say words all you like here.
It is safe to say full words here. In fact, a lot of people dislike tiktok censorship as it makes it harder to safely search the site. if you tag something with 'tw 4n4', just don't. just tag it 'tw ana'. Filters are exact. And it can be EXHAUSTING having to try and filter out every single combination. It's so much easier for both you and me if you simply put 'rape' instead of 'r@pe', 'r4p3', 'r4pe', '🍇', etc
Tagging etiquette
Spam is a reportable offense, and putting unrelated tags simply for reach is considered spam. And there are people who will report you for it. Including me. Only tag what's related, if you're going to tag your post at all. And if you are, it would be helpful to tag as much as you can. Fandom posts, for example. It's best to tag 'fandom', 'character', 'ship', 'etc' as needed. If you have your own organizational tag thing, those are all okay too. Some people may not like to see certain characters or ship or whatever else, and may filter out related tags. This isn't a requirement, but it's appreciated.
There's also tags like 'proship' and 'antiship' and 'endo safe' and more. These stance tags may be added onto ordinary posts because we want to show who our posts are safe for. some people may not feel safe interacting with others, especially those with controversial identities. tagging a post as 'endo safe' lets someone who may be an endogenic system know that OP is a safe blog for them to interact with.
Because of how tags worked on a much older tumblr, conversational tags are a thing. You will see many tags on both original posts and reblogs. You will see a glimpse of an entire conversation in the tags of a reblog. This is normal. As these tags are neither for categorization nor to help search, these are not spam.
Reposting vs Reblogging
Some people, especially newer users, may get confused on what the difference is. I myself was confused and was scared to reblog art that said no reposting once. However, these are not the same thing.
Reposting is taking something made by someone else (text, story, image, etc) and then posting it yourself. This may or may not involve credit to the original artist, but if the artist is on tumblr, even providing credit to the original artist may still be seen as disrespectful
Instead, tumblr has an option to REBLOG. This lets you put a post on your blog, while still keeping the original artist attached to the post.
Blocking and filtering
I brought up filtering in earlier points, so let's get into how to filter posts yourself.
First you want to head to settings. And scroll down. Right above the maturity filters, is tag and post content filters. There is a very important difference here. TAG filters will filter tags. It looks for exact tags too. so if someone filters 'suicide' tags like 'tw suicide' and 'cw suicide can still get through.
The post content filter looks for an exact string within a post. So filtering 'ana' and ' ana ' are two separate words. The first will look for any instance of ana. This means a post with the word anal will also be blocked. but if you filter ' ana ', because of the spaces, it will look for only 'ana' with those spaces. this means 'ana.' wont be filtered out because it doesn't have a space afterwards.
If you can, I would highly recommend using XKIT rewritten or tumblr savior. these are extensions that can completely hide any posts filtered out. tumblr doesn't hide posts. instead, it blacks it out and tells you "this post contains filtered content/tags" along with which filters triggered it. For people that block character or ship tags, this can make scrolling through fandom tags be mostly these filtered posts, especially if the character or ship is popular.
Askbox Etiquette
A lot of blogs have something called an 'ask box.' You can send messages to a blog, and they can respond publicly or, if you choose to leave anonymous unchecked, privately. Asks can also be deleted and reported, including anon asks.
If you are going to send an ask, unless it's a friend, remember to be nice. if you were talking to this person offline, this would be walking up to someone, stranger or friend, and just starting a conversation with them. So same rules apply here. Just because you and your friends may joke in mean ways (playful kys's or insulting each other as friends), does not mean you go up to a stranger and do the same thing. Most people are uncomfortable with these jokes unless it's a close friend.
And i think that's it for the post. Just number one rule, please be nice. If you send us mean nonnies (anonymous asks) we may screenshot them, report, and then post the screenshot and laugh about it.

I hate "tw [insert whatever]" so much. Just tag it as the thing, and whoever needs the to will already have it filtered! Instead you gotta throw in 29 different variations of tw and cw and hope someone else hasn't added a censoring of it that actually makes it way harder for people to block and add to the filtered list! You're actively making it more difficult for people not to see things that upset them!!!!!

Dudes, learn some fucking respect. If you see someone tagging something as platonic and talking about that, don't fucking reblog from them saying "actually, no".
I try so hard to curate my online experience and l'm sick tired of the fndm making it harder every day! Now this person is blocked but I am pissed so I have to say it:
I hate freezerb*rn! I'm not a multishipper, anything against the bees isn't of my liking, but this one in particular really stands out! I want it far away from me and the lack of ability (or maybe care) to tag of the people is making it harder than it should! It happens everywhere, ao3 included, and I AM SO GODDAMN DONE.
Actually, since I'm here, the only one worse for me is beeschne*s; it really disgusts me. I've never liked ot3s, they're not my thing, and this one manages to ruin everything I love, bumbleby and freezerbros, in one go! That's not even mentioning the alarming number of times where I find it under the bumbleby tag, especially on ao3. I've been litterally flashed with it multiple times, so I have a very personal hatred for this one in particular, TAG YOUR SHIT PROPERLY.
Is anyone out there like me, die hard bumbleby shipper who isn't a multishipper? Who doesn't make/reblog shipping stuff about blake and yang with anyone else? Please take a step forward, at this point I just want safe blogs to follow (even if finding someone who share the same feelings would be awesome). I'm tired.
Disclaimer: I know that despite my attempt to censor the names, some shippers will find this post. And I'm sorry for that, because it's not my intention to hate on you personally for your tastes or anything, and if you follow me you know I don't do this kind of speeches. I just want to enjoy my things in peace, and maybe find someone like-minded to complain with, but that's about it. This isn't about you liking something different from me, it's about the people who are basically forcing them on me when I'm doing everything I can to avoid them.
#Rant#rwby fndm#may delete later#Who knows#Right now I'm very upset#rwby#Bumbleby#I need to tag them if I hope to find someone like me#Sorry

ok I've seen this a bit but HEY new users especially those coming from Twitter READ UP especially if you're an artist especially if you draw blood and stuff and spread this for awareness if you want so the message actually gets around / neutral informative tone ahead
saying "blood warning" or anything like that on a fully displayed image isn't really effective. here you can block tags, and often people will have tags they do not want to see blocked. people can have phrases blocked sure, but usually tags. so if you don't want somebody to get scared! add the tag "blood" or "cw blood" or "tw blood" or anything there are a million tags you can tag it as. as for me I like to be direct and just simply tag "blood" because it eliminates the possibility of someone not having my specific way of tagging something blocked (for instance if someone has "tw blood" but not "blood tw" blocked it might not do it right. best to cut out the frills and definitely dont censor the word youre filtering or it wont filter properly)
THAT SAID here's another tip: don't tag something as just "transphobia" I actually do "tw transphobia" because terfs like to search the transphobia tag and argue with trans people AND if something is flashing DO NOT tag it "epilepsy" tag it "flashing" or anything like that. by tagging it epilepsy you're making it harder for epileptic people to find a community bc they keep getting jumpscared by things that trigger them
ANYWAY I hope that helped those are things that took some trial and error for me to learn so I hope that made it easier for you

So like, i think it is better to not use the ship tags when you aren't being particularly positive abt it (like, actively praising it or wtvr), just so ppl don't come across it and it becomes a fight or something. That's why the /// to censor so it's harder for it to show up anyway
Not hate just saying so it doesn't become a bother for you again
I do get what you're saying and don't mean harm, but in that post, just so we're clear, I wasn't bashing KiriBaku. I was saying how some other KiriBakus treat Kirishima like he's some tamer. Which I don't like as someone who like KiriBaku. Even the asker didn't mean to ship bash. Not even once in my response did I use / to censor the ship because one, I'm not an anti nor did I have a problem with the ship itself.
It wasn't that I wasn't positive about KiriBaku. I wasn't positive about the portrayal of KiriBaku at times.
Just because I wasn't cheering on KiriBaku in the way someone likes, doesn't mean I was being a hater to the ship itself.
Just voicing an opinion of what I don't like that people do when it comes to KiriBaku.
That person, mind you, actively said they didn't watch the show past season 3 and bashed Midoriya. On the same post I said that I do like Midoriya.
They weren't even defending or refuting what I said about how people treat KiriBaku.
They just wanted to be an ass and that's a problem for them. Not me. I actually moved past that since it's been hours and was having a good day.
I skip past tons of anti ship posts in the BakuDeku tags, then they can do the same.
I tagged that post as such not to rile people up, but make it easier to find. Hell, even easier to block for people who don't like what I had to say.
I have even wrote posts about characters and mentioned a ship they're in just in passing and not even tag the ship and yet someone has some nonsense to say in regards to said ship.
Not everyone is going to be overly positive about a ship or character they like. Trust me, I have even blocked BakuDeku shippers who have done and said things I don't particularly like about BakuDeku.
You can like something and criticize it and yet not mean any harm to it.
That person didn't see a means to defend KiriBaku, they didnt even deny the idea that some people do treat Kirishima like he's Bakugou's tamer. Again, they just wanted to be an ass.
But I'll remove tag.
I hope you have a nice day and I do genuinely mean that since I don't want anyone to feel how I feel right now.

more so than "its okay to say these things here" im here to say that people will get actively annoyed if not angry with you if you use alternatives.
there's no algorithm here to bypass (i mean... you can opt-in to an algorithm i think.... but i don't know how you do that. and no one i know has made tutorials, because it sucks and we don't want it.) when you change the spelling of a key phrase you are making it harder for robots to classify a post as That Thing™. wich can be helpful if you're convinced that the robots are around to filter out "problematic" topics. but on Tumblr the only working robots who benefit from things being labeled correctly are personal block list.
So if i want to avoid post about Eggs, because i have severe mental breakdowns at the mention of yolks, i can tell the Tumblr robots to hide any post tagged "eggs" so if someone decides they need a new term to by-pass """""the censors"""" and makes a bunch of posts about eggs and tags them "3ggs" then it negates the effort i have put in to make my dashboard feel safe for me. witch would make me upset with the person who decided we need a new word for eggs all the sudden.
tiktok refugees i believe you are few but it is VITAL that you know on tumblr you can speak freely. kill. die. sex. fuck. you can say things here
