Hi Kat! Luca here, speaking of us politics. What’s your thoughts on ms. Coconut & the election?
hoooo boy luca
i believe on a national level there is little functional difference between the two parties in terms of especially foreign policy, but all the difference in fueling or starving two movements i find similarly loathsome: far-right, MAGA and QAnon shit, and twee liberal status quo cowardice (the long obama presidency). whoever wins is a bogeyman for the losing side regardless, even though what either would do in office is ultimately moderate as hell/run through party advisors who ultimately share the goal of advancing global capitalism. imo the most material, domestic damage trump did in office was judicial appointments, SCOTUS and lower, with the power to erode rights for vulnerable populations—see how we lost roe v wade
without doxxing myself, i have always lived in red states with such weak state democratic parties versus heavily factioned GOPs—Tea Party in peak recession and now, the Trumpist mold—that more often than not have congressional battleground races, not even between the two parties, but within the GOP during the primaries. i am often tempted to switch parties to vote in the republican primaries, then go with the democrat in november. also because i get physical mail from condescending out of state liberals who find my address via voter registration reminding me to vote
re: harris, i don't care about her as an individual, much like idc about trump, but i'm kind of invested in the VP slots. again, not doxxing myself, but JD Vance is a personal enemy lmao (this is a decent summary). harris having harsh words for netanyahu is purely because she isn't president right now (can't actually do anything) + to lure back democratic voters who care about palestine
tl/dr; i realize i sound like an apathetic, pessimistic non-voter but i do vote, only because of where i live. if i lived somewhere blue i would be less motivated, unless there was some green new deal type in the primary. i don't think a lot of (most) people, usamerican or not, realize how insane the electoral college is. voting local matters so much more and while you're in there you might as well tick harris's name too
