ah. the boopening has ended.
#wheucto#wheucto speaks#time to turn stylus' old tumblr dashboard style back on !!!#ahh that's better#(i did enjoy the booping; i just had to turn off the stylus that turns desktop back into its old ? ?? mode whatever)#(because it broke it <///3 so sad...)#oh the sky is slowly getting brighter (ah... so THIS is gray dawn?)#i am realizing why they fallback 'round this time. it's 7 AM and it's still quite dark outside#i dont think youd be able to see well? no you wouldnt (just looked it up)#currently its nautical twilight_ close to the end of that#its still dark. well actually now the sky is a nice gray color you can see#it got significantly brighter in the time i was making this post whar#either i have been making this post for a good while or the sun just Does that#anyways nautical twilight ends in 8 minutes after i write this tag#i usually think of like 6 to 7 am as “sunrise time” and being awake for those times to realize “hmm. it is very not sunrisey now” is what -#- makes me go “ah yes. this is why we have fallback.”#i suppose it like. hammers it in why we have it? like i think its bc of waking up when its dark...#at the winter solstice here_ the sun rises at 7:30 am (standard time)#if we went DST all time that would be 8:30 AM... when i was going to high school_ that would be in between the middle and end of first peri#to be fair before sunrise you can still see quite a bit#well you'd have to wake up before then... usually i'd wake up at 7 and thatd be somewhat dark (beginning of civil twilight)#actually its been a good while now the sun has risen#not that i like the switches between DST and standard. just that i see the reasoning behind it

DST has got us all messed up. Knox barely made it to 8 PM last night for bedtime and then up at 6:30 AM. I can’t handle the early wake ups 😩 I’ve always been able to get ready for work at my own pace and then wake him when it’s time to get him ready to go but when he wakes up that early I have to try to juggle him and getting us both ready and out the door. Tonight was even worse, he went to bed at 7:30 sooo I’m sure he will be up super early tomorrow. I know the older kids get, they move to this earlier bedtime usually but if he could add an hour of sleep to make up for it in the morning, Mama would really appreciate it. 😂
My friend invited me to a cookie exchange brunch at her house in December. It’s just for the girls and sounds super fun, but I have to make cookies?? To share with everyone?? I can’t bake worth a shit. Soo if any of my domesticated mutuals have a tried and true yummy cookie recipe that can’t easily be messed up, holla at ya girl.
It’s 8:30 PM and I’m in bed. Hubs was watching football AND videos on his phone and I just could not deal. Needed peace and quiet or at least a show of my liking. Plus, I’m going to try to go to bed early to make up for the inevitable early wake up that awaits me tomorrow.
Have I mentioned DST sucks? We should all do away with it like AZ. They’ve got the right idea.

What a fantastic Meatball Friday! We had an overly full table, so many laughs, SO. MUCH. WINE. By the time I went to bed at 10:30 (!), the party was still going strong. I am so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life.
On Saturday, I drove over to the Island, ran 2 (and somehow did not stop my watch when I stopped to use the restroom, so those 2 were NOT TIMED), and then did 10 with the group.
This was one of the best runs I have had EVER. I felt so strong and relaxed, even pounding up those hills. I also had two REALLY great conversations. When we started, Mike told me (without prompting) that I am in incredible shape and am going to do great things next weekend. He said I have had such a strong training cycle, and am just getting better and better. This was so good to hear from someone else. I feel strong, I feel prepared, but self-doubt always plagues me.
Post-run, this extremely talented ultrarunner woman (from out of town) who had joined us (she just finished a TWO HUNDRED MILE RACE), told me I have some "very powerful legs." She is a 3:10 (!) marathoner, so hearing that from her was amazing.
I am not posting this here to humblebrag - trust me, I love the way the above photo came out with the leaves and colors, but I wouldn't put it on Instagram because I'd rather my race times do the talking-, but posting it as a reminder to myself. I love this sport, I am so excited for next weekend.
Post-run, I went to target and the market, then Tim and I drove to Hershey to see Molly, Brian and Brynn.
We had a great time catching up with them, then Tim and I went to the tavern to see my friends. I was so hungry at this point, I got curly fries, which I pretty much immediately regretted, holy heartburn, and just feeling gross.
We got home around 3:30, and laid around watching ND play, and I went to bed at 8:30. I slept 11 hours (thanks DST!), then ran 2 miles, and met Colin for 8, 10 for the day. It was good to spend some one-on-one time with Colin, and I thought my legs would be tired, but we averaged 8:06s, and it felt effortless.
After that, I sat my big butt on the couch and watched the NYC Marathon. All I can say is WOW. That was AMAZING. I was so happy for Shalene, and Meb had quite the day for his last marathon. I also enjoyed tracking everyone I knew running, seems like it was a good day! It was so inspiring to watch.
After that, we did a whole lot of nothing. It was crappy out, raining and damp, so we did stuff around the house, watched an episode of Breaking Bad, and I went to bed at 7:30. I am really prioritizing sleep this week. I slept in until 5:40 (!), and then set out for an easy run. My legs felt good, I had to really hold it back. 5 miles at 8:37 pace to start the day. It's nice to sleep in, but 5 miles goes by so quickly.
And, now, Monday... but I'm off Friday, so SHORT WEEK!
