finding a harmless brain tumor (which then requires possibly invasive and risky procedures like biopsy to determine that it's harmless) is exactly why we don't just MRI everyone. this is also why we don't do screening mammograms for avg risk people in their 30s, etc. the potential harm from incidental findings outweighs the potential benefits of finding something bad.

(also the entire field of radiology would probably like a word about the idea that they can't possibly know what's supposed to be there just because we haven't given everyone an MRI. like that's their whole job.)

(also also would you like to spend 30-60 minutes lying perfectly still with a weird little cage over your head inside a small tube while a giant machine makes loud banging noises around you? because I don't want that.)

i think they should give everyone one free mri. just so we can see what the fuck is up with our brains
