it frustrates me when i observe that fans often prove they're in possession of the mandate of canon by....talking shit abt fanfic writers.

fans frequently assert interpretive superiority by saying that fanfic is full of terrible grammar, stupid plots, wild mischaracterization, abominable kinks, weird women and their demented woobified or daddy dom fantasies, so on and so forth. fans have Entertainment Standards that the fanfic writing masses do not meet

yet unskilled fan illustrations are encouraged, and the same comments about illustrators would be unacceptable & seen as vindictive, bullying, and unfair

#the same skill and interpretation 'issues' are present in fan illustrations #but writers are the deviants. ok #i hate woobified charas as much as the next snob & it is inconveniencing to me that most fans seek comfort in fanwork #bc i do not value comfort in my entertainment #but complaining abt bad writers is not going to make good writers appear #and valuing writing below other artforms is not very 'dont like dont read' of anyone #if u cannot reel in ur snobbery then at least apply it widely and fairly lmao #which is honestly what i do when i complain w my sister #brianna babbles
