Alright, I need to speak to SOMEONE with more of a vast understanding of characterization than me and considering well you can piece it together why I'm saying this to you specifically there's just a little bit of signs that point to you liking DDLC I dunno Anyhow but I got into ddlc about a month ago? I think I don't really remember, could've been a month and a half but from what I've seen, the wiser fandom belief is that Monika in no way feels any real romantic attraction to the player, and is just feeling like they are due to their desire and need to be real or that she's faking her attraction but, that doesn't exactly make sense to me, yknow? because in partial matters, the reason she starts doing what she does in the events of ddlc is because she wasn't given a romance route, so that points to her, in fact, craving romantic attention but being guarded off by the fact that the game literally doesn't have a route for her so even if by the end of the game she doesn't hold that sentiment, she did start it all because she wanted to be loved which by the end of the game? I still don't think it's just a masked desire to be real, sure, that can be present, but I don't think it's the singular thing that's on her mind and whilst the idea of her love being just the desire to be real, does make a lot of sense to be honest I really don't like it being the only thing, yknow? because to her at least, she does love the player, and I don't think the desire to be real would make sense for her actions after you delete her because post deletion she does outwardly reset everything so that you can be happy with the literature club and that doesn't make sense to me if she's just craving to be real, yknow? it can be a combo of wanting to be real and loving the player, but just wanting to be real alone doesn't explain why she chooses to set back the literature club and as well as the post-deletion-full-deletion I feel like people see her as being way more emotionally distant than she is I mean, place yourself as the only "real" one in a scenario, unable to achieve what could be your only lifeline to be real you'd do the same, right? but when she deletes the club it's because of Sayori getting admin permissions due to being head of the club, and Monika seeing herself doing all she did, going again deleting the club out of a mercy because, fairly, there's no happy endings in it I think that's it I write out alot, so yknow but yeah! those are all my thoughts seeya!

i feel like calling my takes "a more vast understanding of characterisation" gives them wayyy more credit than they should lol

in my experience, the fandom is kind of split between "monika did not love the player at all" and "monika did everything for the player and no other reason". which seems to be kind of a pattern when it comes to monika's character, shes either a complete monster or she did nothing wrong, she either loves the player or doesn't, she either cares deeply for the girls or she never cared at all. shes kind of always either one end of the spectrum or the other. and personally i think trying to fit her in such black and white categories really limit what you can do with her character.

my take on the whole "does monika actually love the player?" is yeah she definitely thinks she does, and maybe she does truly as well, but also it's way more complicated.

anyway, ive spent a lot of time questioning if monika's love for the player is real and the conclusion ive reached is that i don't think I'll ever be 100% sure if its not or if it is, simply because i dont think monika herself knows. she definitely truly believes its love, the main question is can we take her belief of it at face value?

speaking of varric's nicknames, doesn't he outright admit in banter with merrill that he only ever calls people by their nicknames to annoy them? or at least, he admits to calling isabela "rivani" to annoy her specifically? i just thought his tendency toward nicknames was merely his love for being the world's most annoying dwarf, or something.

Oh 100% the annoyance factor is real and true and shouldn't be dismissed. Like, what's the explanation for "Junior", besides that Carver is easy to get a rise out of and Varric is, at heart, an obnoxious little troll? But I don't think it's as simple as a broad "he's doing this to be annoying" all the way across the board. Like, conversely, where's the annoyance factor in how he addrresses "Sunshine"?

Hell, Aveline and Hawke both give Varric shit about not being given a cute nickname. Can't win! Also an indication that the annoyance factor of nicknames is specific and/or individual, and not all-inclusive. (Although Aveline is absolutely just complaining to complain. Again, can't win, grass is greener, etc.)

Aveline: Blondie, Sunshine, Daisy, Rivaini… what am I? Varric: Beg your pardon? Aveline: You don’t call anyone by name except for me. Where’s my nickname? ... Varric: Haven’t thought of a good one yet. What do you think of “Red”? Aveline: Too common.

That said, Varric's near obsessive avoidance of given names does prompt open annoyance from certain companions. Notably not Isabela (or even Carver, that I know of, though Carver gets annoyed about pretty much everything else Varric says, so). Fenris probably grouses about it most often, which is fair, considering. Anders, Fenris, and Merrill all get into it with him in some content cut from Varric's romance reaction conversation.

Varric: You and Whatshisname, that mage, seem to be getting pretty close. Anders: You’d think after three years the dwarf would learn my name. And I’m standing right here! Varric: Right, I see you there, Blondie. Don’t worry.

I love pretty much all of those reactions, except, I kind of really personally hate Merrill's bit?

Merrill: For the hundredth time, my name is not “Daisy!” And I’m right here, you oaf! Hawke: You’re just encouraging him, you know. He’s doing it on purpose to make you squirm. Varric: It’s true. I only do it because I love the way the points of your ears turn red when you get mad.

I just don't believe, given the whole sum of their interactions throughout the game, that Merrill has spent the last three years believing that Varric is being an oaf and getting upset about being called Daisy. Some people like this bit too, idk. Me, I don't buy it!

And at this point it's worthwhile to delve into Varric's development as a character. Gaider has said that Varric was originally supposed to be an "untrustworthy," "sleazy, slimeball" kind of guy, but that as development went on they found they "needed a character that stood up for you with all the opposing personalities in the party." He's more recently described Varric as "that 'slimy car salesman' character we'd planned."

Gaider has also said it's the case that, because development time on DAII was so insanely short, that "Everything was going to be a first draft... A lot of what we’re putting out is going to be raw. We’re not going to get the editing we need. We’re not going to get the kind of iteration we need."

So, all right, here's my extremely tagential onion, that was not asked for? I got a bit of a bug up my butt about the exchange above and a related one in Varric's rivalry path where he says "Don't call Daisy an ogre! You'll make her cry." Because they are just, kind of stand-out odd lines, to me. And so I checked to see when various lines of dialogue were written. We can do this! Every line of dialogue, when it's saved to the talktable, is saved with an ID number (the string reference), and they're saved in chronological order. If a line of dialogue is completely rewritten in a later revision, this number won't reflect that, but we also know that DAII did not have development time to allot for major revisions. So.

Here's what was written first, for Varric's dialogue: Act 1, Questions and Answers. Act 1, A Business Discussion. Act 1, his introduction. Act 2, Friendly Concern. And then so on and so forth etc. Mostly chronological order. Both of Anders' "whatshisname, that mage"s are comparatively early lines. But the banter, which is where a lot of defining character interactions take place, were all written fairly late in development, kind of in one big lump, after the vast, vast majority of Varric's general quest dialogue.

And that's interesting, right? You can kind of see echoes of Varric's concept drifting over time away from grimy car salesman toward your friendly neighborhood friendbuddyguy. You could even kind of read it as (not entirely intentional) organic character development over time, if things didn't get kind of muddled between acts which are, after all, supposed to take place three years apart, not that they really had the dev time to really nail that down and make you feel it.

Anyway! Sorry! Tangent! Circling back to the banter in question!

Merrill: Do you ever miss her? Varric: Isabela? Of course I do. Merrill: You called her by her name. I’ve never heard you do that before. Varric: No fun in calling her Rivaini if she’s not here to be annoyed by it.

It's interesting! Because like, first of all, it's wrong. Varric calls Isabela by her given name more regularly than he does any other companion, including Aveline (who he has not even given a nickname to). So, clearly Merrill's not been paying attention. (Not that I expect Kirby to have like kept a tally while writing Varric's dialogue lmao I just think it's funny.)

Secondly, he's deflecting. Because he misses her! He misses herrrrrr. He's a softyyyyyy. The two of them really got on. And, he's deflecting.

(Thirdly, if he is only deflecting, and not both deflecting and lying through his lying teeth: does him calling Isabela by her name fairly regularly mean that he only wants to annoy her sometimes? As opposed to, say, Carver and Fenris and Sebastian, who he is more than happy to needle all of the time constantly? I could see it tbh.)

Although, again, if Isabela is annoyed—and she would not be wrong to be! albeit she is an inveterate nicknamer herself—she's playing it pretty close to her chest.

Isabela: You’ve a nickname for everyone. Varric: That’s true. Rivaini. Isabela: But everyone just calls you Varric. That’s hardly fair.

Which is to say! Yes! Varric is the world's most annoying dwarf, and he loves it. But I think there's ~nuance~ as well as a lot of room for interpretation!

Yes, there does seem to be something going on with all three of them, doesn't it? Atm, everyone's just kids, so romance won't really pop up (unless like, for a gag or whatever). Maybe as they hit their teens, there might be crazy love triangle drama going on. Its ok if it does, they are superheroes, dumb drama is the name of the game in DC comics lol. Lemme see if I can get my thoughts in order for this..

Your 100% correct that Eddie has an enormous crush on Rose, just like in canon. Also like canon, it was pretty much a love at first sight kinda thing. As for why, well there's the fact that he thinks Rose is very pretty and cute. But also he loves how skilled she is as a fighter and how dedicated she is to her craft. She can do anything according to him! Even as they grow older, that infatuation never really goes away. If anything, it grows stronger.

It's also extremely obvious to just about everyone on the team (and off!), only question is if Rose knows and just ignores it. Or if she's genuinely oblivious, she's pretty focused on protecting her mom and training her martial art skills.

As for Rose, she's not interested in romance at the moment (she is a kid after all), that might change as she gets older and gains more control over her life. And while she may or may not be aware of Eddie's crush on her, she might have a minor thing for Jason. It's not nearly as overt at Eddie's thing, so only some of the more perceptive team members might know. It's kinda of embarrassing for her to be all 'girly' like that.

As for why Jason, well not only is it a reference to canon JayRose, there's also the fact that in this au Jason was willing to help her out when he didn't even know who she was. He's a dedicated fighter like her, smart, and she thinks he's cute (at least once he reveals his secret id).

This crush is something that develops very slowly over the years, it kinda catches her off guard almost. I don't know if she ever tries to ask him out or anything, once Jason hits his fifteenth birthday, she might just miss her chance perhaps...

As for Jason, well that's just a mystery! But seriously, whatever his own opinions on all this, he seems to be keeping his cards close to his chest. Does he gain a crush on Rose too? Is it Eddie he has a crush on? Is he jealous of how easily Rose steal's Eddie's attention? Or does he see Eddie as competition for Rose? Every member of the Outlaws has a different idea on what's happening on Jason's end, and none of those idea's overlap lol. Just like in the fandom, every member of the team seems to read Jason differently (and for some, just straight up don't understand him).

It seems for now, Jason would rather not think about stuff like that and just concentrate on having fun with friends! He's just a kid you know!

the Life is strange Double Exposure livestream happened and i thought id post some Chloe related updates for anyone who’s nervous about this part of the game!! (like me🥲)

- The directors of the game confirmed that they have respected BOTH outcomes that the player can choose in the first LiS and both choices will be present here, so basically everyone saying that this is the timeline where chloe is dead was wrong! she might be dead for some players but for others she will very much be alive. unconfirmed if she will make an appearance though

- We haven’t seen chloe yet, only a polaroid of her (A picture of her in the Original LiS style as well) that max keeps in her Wallet, her friend in the game Safi points this out and the player can then decide what to say back to her

“She was my friend” OR “we were highschool sweethearts”

My immediate thought is that this clip is from the Save Arcadia bay option because of the past tense, but maybe Chloe and Max went their separate ways and this is the Save Chloe option? the latter just doesn’t seem very likely to me.

- Now i’m not 100% if i am right here so do correct me BUT in the extended clip where we got more gameplay, max faints in the same way she did at the beginning of the first lis game, and I THINK we heard a young Chloe going “Max!!” as well as a young max saying “I caused this, I caused all of this” But again that may of not been chloes voice, i’m just thinking it was because of what Max said afterwards.

- This was hinted at but i think we could be getting a new romance option, i think her name is Amanda? but she was very much hinted at being a romance option in a small clip, Im not sure how i feel about this but not every LiS player shipped Pricefield so it may be their thing, just not mine.

if I had 3 really petty genie wishes to like. change other people’s behavior but not in a meaningful world peace kinda way just to stop annoying people online from making me sigh in exhaustion id wish:

1. people learned the very incredibly kindergarten level simple tagging system & etiquette here where you tag things that relate to the post & if you’re just saying “ew this thing is bad” you should use “anti [insert thing]” NOT the general tag for the thing itself as that’s what people who like the thing use to find content. This should be easy & straightforward but for many people it very clearly is not. So.

☆ Ena sometimes leaves her lunchbox back at home (either on purpose or accidental, but that’s a story for another day) and Akito is having NONE of it. If he noticed before her lunch break, he runs over and gives her it. If he noticed too late, he "accidentally ordered too much food and can‘t finish it", so Ena has to eat it. Whichever the case is, Ena WILL be getting her fill of food.

☆ Ena has so many embarrassing childhood fotos of Akito, but Akito has none from Ena. It‘s not like she was never photographed as a kid- but she looked so adorable and pretty in every picture! Unlike Akito, where in one he‘s literally in the middle of tripping and falling into dog poop, while in the other he‘s eating his own boogers.

hiii! like i said in my last post i spent a big portion of august being sick :| which involved spending like a Lot of the time sitting around playing pikmin 4, going "oh i think im thinking so hard about pikmin that its making me more tired?" and then playing more pikmin anyways. i 100%d this game guys it was so serious

books/comics/written media: paladins strength by ursula vernon: this is part of the saints of iron series, but i dont think context from the other books is really needed! romantasy/murder mystery about a nun and a paladin travelling together to the city by chance… they both have their own agendas but something draws them together 0///0 i found this really fun!! may have too much blood and guts for a pure romance fan but its very sort of pragmatic and down to earth in that ursula vernon way. nice dynamic between the leads, had a delightfully creepy (and sad!) antagonist and wrapped up threads from the previous book very nicely. would recommend 👍

in other words by jhumpa lahiri: semi autobiographical literary fiction about a (pulitzer winning) author who decides to move to italy and start writing exclusively in italian. (its translated!) hmmm as someone who also really loves languages but also doesnt really have the resources or desire to do something like. move to a different country (i mean maybe!) and only speak and write in that language from now on (probably not), it was a really interesting perspective. i was sort of put off by her attitude towards bengali but the whole "triangle of languages" theory makes sense… the writer is very straightforward and honest feeling in a way thats almost irritating sometimes but i think thats how a lot of artists are. and the concept alone is still very interesting.. lol anyways its a very short read so id still recommend 👍

the twisted ones by ursula vernon: horror. a woman is tasked with cleaning out her late hoarder grandmothers' house, located in rural north carolina. this was ursula vernons first horror book, i think! i was a little disappointed bc this wasnt very scary, exactly--but i feel like ive also been learning that even if i startle easily, my horror threshhold is actually very high……? i ended up liking what moves the dead more (it was scarier!) but this still had a fun cast of characters. still worth a read though :3 i enjoyed it

dungeon meshi by ryoko kui(catchup): manga about a group of adventurers looking for their lost friend. stuck in the dungeon for months on end, they resort to eating monsters! ohhhhh my god drags down myface dungeon meshi is literally one of the best manga out there and im glad everyone recognizes this. its about desire and need and the way unfulfilled desires is what propels our lives forward and gives them meaning and also how its SUPER IMPORTANT TO GET 3 NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND SLEEP 8 HOURS and all that. lol. phenomenal art i cant help but think that ryoko kui draws women as only a lesbian can..? highly recommend 👍

witch hat atelier by kamome shirahama(catchup): coming of age/fantasy manga--a girl discovers the secret behind the magic that powers her world. she's determined to use it to save her mother, but it may bring a heavy price--or maybe not at all…? like vita nostra (which i read last month!), this is also a book about learning magic that focuses heavily on pedagogy itself (which in this case is also a direct parallel to learning about art/drawing!). however, unlike vita nostra the characters are more like 10-11, and so it also takes a much more gentle and compassionate approach to how we should learn. but it also tackles some really interesting themes about restriction of information, and if said info should be restricted and why! and sort of digging deeper into the idea of "a secret hidden from the normal world". the art is soooo gorgeous i think its all done by hand? looks like a picture book can honestly get a bit overwhelming. highly recommend 👍

bloom into you: f/f manga about a girl who has never fallen in love, and a girl who never wants to be loved. bloom into you is one of those Yuri Classics that i enjoyed a lot as someone who has complicated feelings about romance :3 theres that really interesting quote thats like "love isnt about wanting someone to change or stay the same. when i say 'i love you,' its an expression of faith that even as you change, youll always be the person i adore"….. very interesting! also the sort of idea that you cant 'no true scotsman' love--you can just decide that you love someone, and then you do? kind of? anyways i thought it was pretty interesting :3

beastars: coming of age manga, set in a world kinda like zootopia but if someone thought about it way more. legosi, a large grey wolf struggles with distinguishing between his carnal desires and his, uh, carnivorous desires. ok EYE really liked it but also i think it handles a lot of themes really weirdly… maybe this is because legosi is just really fucking weird (this is definitely part of it) but in many ways beastars portrays the split between men and women as being even more uncrossable than the split between herbivores and carnivores.. which to me was surprising since the manga itself is written by a woman? definitely look up a TW list if youre planning on reading lol. it definitely has some of the best "what if animals lol" worldbuilding out there. i had louis/legosi/haru ot3 in my heart the whole way through LOL but i, uh, dont really think legosi and haru work as a couple just by themselves .. also the gaybait in here is crazy. i think past the midway or maybe 3/4 point it kinda starts to lose focus, but it still had a lot of compelling drama. yayyy louis beastars i think more theater kids should go through unbelievable self-inflicted pain

beast complex: anthology about the surrounding stories of the ppl of beastars. SO fun many people agree that the best part of beastars was the worldbuilding and this was basically all that. very fun :3

surviving romance: horror/adventure? chaerin wants nothing more than to live her fated fairy-tale life--so much so that people other than her love interest appear as nothing more than extras. one day ZOMBIES ATTACK!!!!11! very fun :33 maybe this is just me but is meta stuff getting more popular because of orv…? its not doing it as well ngl but still entertaining. chaerin trying to gain the trust of ppl that she originally didnt gaf about is fun

video games: pikmin 4: pikmin 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its a game about being 1 inch tall and controlling your hordes of small creatures (pikmin) to gather things like fruits. i think i bought this when i was sick because i saw a post that was like "pikmin cured my executive function" lol everyone who plays pikmin doesnt fucking shut up about what an indie gem it is but theyre kinda right………pikmin is really good…. its all about finding beauty and joy in the small intricacies of this wide world……i know some people were annoyed by the story parts but i thought it was cute idk :] and oatchi was there . recommend if you like games like starcraft or if you like watching ants carry around a giant caterpillar

movies: farewell my concubine: coming of age/literary/tragedy/historical/??? its a wong kar wai movie. dieyi has nothing in his life but the stage, where he plays as the faithful concubine to a doomed king. his life offstage is much more fraught. i would dearly love to read any articles or things about this movie so if you got anything come find me? we are the tigers: thriller musical about a terrible group of cheerleaders coming together for the first meeting of the year. and bad shit happens!!! omg i love girls who kill. and girls who kill each other i dont think this was particularly deep or anything but i enjoyed it :3

nope: horror movie about oj and em, two siblings struggling to keep their stunt horse business running after their father dies. ok well like above its a jordan peele movie so of course its very good. scary as well! i loved the themes… i went back to when ppl were talkingabout the movie to see what people said! ngl i kinda thought jupe was going to have a bigger part in the movie but he was cool as he was. idk it was just very enjoyable and had a lot of things to think about. the idea of spectacle and like.. tragedy-voyeurism are something thats really important to examine closely in times like these i think?

when harry met sally: ROMCOM YAYY about a man and a woman meeting each other across multiple periods of their life. literally one of the only romcoms i can remember my dad openly admit to liking it really deserves the hype. its so heartfelt and sweet and genuinely funny and the character development is so good. its like gay people for straight people

how to lose a man in 10 days: romcom about a guy who thinks he can make any girl fall in love vs a girl who is trying to give the worst dating experience possible. um well it was ok? i only really felt the chemistry between the main leads in a couple of scenes (like when she visits his home) it wasnt really funny or romantic enough..? especially given that most of the humor was predicated on LOL LOOK HOW SHITTY AND CONTROLLING GFS CAN BE which is like ok fine. whatever. idk it was ok

annihilation: horror about a group of scientists who go into a unsettling area to see whats wrong with it.. um well i read the book first and i had heard that this was a pretty good adaptation ? a la howls moving castle book vs movie. i thought it was pretty good? but WAY more focused on the horror stuff than the book, and also (bc its a movie) not really able to focus on the characters interiorities as much..? and also like the way the characters slowly lose it in weird ways and their dynamic frays was one of the cooler parts of annihilation (book) to me. i think at the time having queer characters and characters of color and a cast comprised almost entirely of women was a pretty big deal though i think i heard a lot about it on tumblr lol. its hard not to nitpick on lots of details but i thought it was pretty good overall! a lot of the differences that i didnt like that much made sense as a migration from book->movie--like for example if theyd made the mc as cold and unfeeling it would have been harder to have her be a sympathetic movie protagonist. i thought the infidelity plot w the professor was kind of a timewaster though . anyways still recommend 👍

blue beetle: action movie about a guy whos blue and a beetle. i liked this a surprising amount but i also saw it with friends. the first half of the movie is kinda better than the first also being a tokusatsu fan makes me go "wow this would be so much better if it was with suit actors" lol but the first half of the movie was sooo fun i think also had a really good depiction of a genttrifying city which i enjoyed

oppenheimer: historical drama about that one guy. copy pasting my thoughts from discord: even my dad who liked the movie more was like wow… this movie was kinda too long idk i think it was like technically cool in terms of like imagery and sound and actgin and stuff. but i like wasnt really moved LOL. christopher nolan is playing a little game where i have to recognize as many white men in sequence as possible and im going to be real i can manage maybe like 3? also the whole outer shell plot with strauss and misha collins (EDIT: it was not misha collins) who literally unironically said "youre the god of shadows now" (????) was like. um well this is really intricate but also i dont really care…? like am i supposed to have a stake in this…..? and sort of the intertwining of that story combined w the creation of the atomic bomb was like kinda so-so (my inability to tell faces didnt help w this) it was fine but not really my kind of movie. omg i did like the part with like all the thundering applause and stuff but it blows up there was this part where they kept on being like omg the X incident. all this stuff happened with X and i was like wow what is it….. turns out it was literally referring to a recurring character that i neither remembered nor could recognize. sad

us: horror movie about doubles. YESSS SO FUCKING SCARY i watched this on the airplane to school and the old lady sitting next to me had to watch me hyperventilating and clutching my chest and the whole nine yards. definitely the scariest jordan peele movie. man and the twist at the end was so freaking good. i think its the scariest because the danger is so there, and so immediate, but the beginning part of the movie actually succeeded (for me?) in getting you to be invested in the characters as well. i was wondering if maybe the doubles were also supposed to be connected to like ideas of caricature about black people..? it leaves just enough unanswered that youre still scared. and the questions that do get answered leave you with………THE HORRIFYING TRUTH!! god what a good movie

moonlight: coming of age about a boy who struggles with being black and gay during the crack epidemic of the 80s/90s. < sorry if this isnt a good summary i remember this was a pretty important film when it came out.. i watched part of it a couple years ago and then just remembered to finish this month. its a good movie… you kinda just sit with it yk. hm i (obviously?) dont have a lot of experience with black masculinity but i thought it was interesting how vulnerability can be like taken away from you or you can withhold it from yourself..and that can feel or even be really powerful! but its also like never too late to do that until youre dead. waves my hands around

i wont ever not point out how, or how in her own tag its impossible (for me!!!!) to find something where she isnt just mentioned at all and she isnt just "devs girlfriend / therapist" in fanfics, which she has half of what he has and theres only 30 fics where he isnt mentioned and id bet only 5 of them are directly centered around her, say what you want about how interesting they are as characters but neither one has to 100% revolve around the other w the whole wish thing, the way people were calling her selfish ohh my god i can tell they havent watched more then 5 episodes and you cant name anything else about her, i get not finding any of other other connections good but if people can make fics expanding on what the hell dev and irep were up to (guy who appears twice) or expand on dale (guy who appears 4 times + 1 min as a gag in another episode) u can make shit up about them its fine . collect the scraps and complete them out of love

this is just a small thing, so idrc, and as someone who is aroace and just finds shipping fun sometimes (i put characters into a concuction in my head to see what i come up w, its a fun game), the way people would go to other random clips and go "see!!! they like eachother like that" when its like, a refrence to her phone case and shes had an entire episode where she worries for 8 hours BECAUSE she got told someone likes her like that, the way people immediatly jump to make everything about shipping in small details, guys people can just be Good Friends its ok, not everything needs romance in canon and if anything i think this would be the one series which it 100% doesnt need (yes patrick i think the whole tootie/timmy/trixie thing was annoying at a point) does that make sense . like putting a puzzle piece in the wrong place

Stuff from Mikhail's canon (id est playthrough) that just make sense, in no particular order:

He is a licensed therapist working for the Society of Brilliance, first of his kind, so you can imagine how appalled he was upon learning that the Society wants to essentially kidnap a Githyanki child and just program it different. He refused to cooperate (and some strongly worded letters were definitely written and sent).

Him, Omeluum, and Blurg are in a polycule and Mikhail himself is very polyamorous, not opposing to casual sex either. He has his partners' permission. Nevertheless he is romancing Gale and had to have a very long talk with him about the openness of their relationship. In this canon Gale was willing to work on somewhat loosening his grip on Mikhail, albeit with some reluctance at first.

Mikhail fucked the Emperor but turned Mizora down because he simply dislikes her that much.

Mikhail's opinion on Illithids is very accepting and he is not at all deterred by the powers harvesting other people's tadpoles gives him. In fact he makes full use of them and even though he tried to resist evolution when prompted by the Emperor to do so, he eventually grew to accept his new physiology as a comfortable middle ground between no powers and complete ceremorphosis.

He's a pacifist until he isn't. He is generally nice but takes no shit. He has been known to resort to violence and he can and will rip you a new one if you fuck with him enough. Lying also – It is not beneath him to lie his way in and out of situations, he's got high enough Charisma for that.

For a Sorcerer he is incredibly humble.

Insists on bringing Gale along everywhere and calls it bonding.

Chose to ally with Orin simply because she had Halsin and saving his friend was more important to him than saving face in front of Gortash. He was 100% willing and ready to fight Orin to the death if it meant Halsin will be left unharmed.

Told Wyll to sacrifice his dad to be freed of Mizora's pact while also 100% planning to rescue Wyll's dad anyway because like I said before, Mikhail fucking hates Mizora.

Speaking of Halsin, the two almost got together as well but if it weren't for Sengo (another OC from this canon) and Gale's disapproval of the idea they would've fucked.

Has a sense of humor when he feels like it.

Lae'zel had the hots for him very early on in the game but Mikhail gently rejected her because she just isn't his type.

Determined to help everyone work through their fucking problems.

It takes a lot to make him reach a point where he acts merciless but when he does just know he's either putting up an act or is MAD pissed.

ughhhh i had an amazing dream abiut a dating sim visual novel.

its a 100% sincere dating sim for most of it, except at the very end it shifts very abruptly to straight-up horror as you desperately try to save... anyone, really, up to and includin yourself, from what is coming. which is, i think, either an expelled student (magic academy setting), or a game idea rhat was partially implemented before being abanxoned (or both), twisted and corrupted. they were... horrible to look at, as the player.

There was a crossword, which wasnt mandatory to fill out, but WAS the only way to find out some world information someof which was incredibly useful (60ish % of the crossworx could be filled out in any given run jyst with the info you were given). On ny second run, I found the horror's crossword, same format as mine. Some of the answers were right, but it looked like at some point they had given up and started guessing violent and spooky things. Interestingly, what appeared to be a correct answer (matched its space, natched the things around it), to the clue 'the best way to harm malevolent ghosts' was 'inhale', which is what id been taught in magic class and what id tried against the horror in my disastroys first run. It hadnt worked. Next to it was an X in the same pen the crossword qas filled out in, and the words 'WRONG. Threaten. You have to nake it afraid'. Cool

oh yeah, my first run. I wasnt really going for any route, but i did axcidentally get the sporty girl romantic interest expelled. She ran right out in her gym uniform, and none of us ever saw her again. Shortly thereafter, i went to my room to finish some homework. Afterward, the school was just aviut empty. Classrooms torn apart, doors wrenched off their hinges. I went downstairs to look onthe first floor: there was two people there. One was trying very hard to open the stairs door which was blocked, the other was walking toward her. I unblocked the door, and the girl pushed past me and ran upstairs. I saw there was blood on the floor down here. Gets fuzzy here, but basjcally this other person was the horror. Their art style became radically different (kind of like trevor henderson's?). I dont rememver much dialogue here, beyond that 1: everyone had died horribly 2: i died horribly 3: i didnt know *why* 4: i had gotten one of he worst endings, which is pretty easy to get actually 5: the only survivor was the sporty romance interest. 6: i tried go INHALE at the horror (which is supposdd to make it so mad about being dead thag it fries itself intednally??) but it. didnt work.

And so things end. Tried a second run, didnt get very far before I woke up. I dont thinj anything was wrongbor had changed, except that my player character/me was 1: aware of what had happened 2: kind of chill avout it

game took on a little more of a mystery vibe from then on, and i got a second crossword! this one was mostly about mystery ckues, and sometimes whsn i learned something it would autofill in the mystery crossword. I assume there are some clues that could only rsally be found by deduction / using that crossword. Still optional tho.

This wasnt in the dream, but i do find it interesting if romancing someone actually mafe them MORE likely to die, harder to save. ig because the horror hates you.

Anyway this game sounds dope as fuck ngl.

For the basic information, its probably that my OC is an INFP, and is Levi’s best friend. She enjoys playing games and watching animes with him. She also really likes Mammon, to the point everyone else probably realized how awkward she is when it comes to him. But, Mammon himself keeps denying it like “im just doing it because im supposed to protect ya! Or lucifer would be mad at me.”

Classic tsundere stuff. She would also often try various stuff to get closer to him, which most of them came from Levi’s animes

She would probably write a love letter to him first (courtesy of levi’s highschool romance anime) and locked herself in the room until she received a response out of embarrassment. A text, knock on the door, anything. But nothing came from him which made her really anxious and nervous.. until now. She also probably collect magazines where Mammon is featured.

For the letter itself, id prefer handwritten. It is probably a reply to her love letter. If you need the contents of her love letter, it would be more about her apologizing with Mammon. She would say sorry for doing silly stuff to get closer to him. Like the one time she tried to kabedon him to recreate a scene from an anime. It was really awkward and embarrassing. She would apologize for making him uncomfortable, and told him she would like to get closer to him. The letter would have some scratched words, and towards the end it looked like she was trembling while writing it? I think she wouldnt give the letter to him in person, maybe leaving it under his table in RAD, in his room, or in his car. But she would sign the letter though.

Tbh i dont quite understand what i should write for handwritten letter description, so if youre more comfortable with typed letter then feel free to do so!

I mean mr lancer is a Teacher, but he was also nice but this is different, but this is a GHOST WHO IS WILLING TO HELP HIM with his powers and also will help him when hes injured and is so so nice and comparatively so much more mature than 90% of the adults in this show!!!! god. dad frostbite is my everything.

i'm very much a benvi, for reasons this post summarizes pretty well! also i just prefer devi/maitreyi and ben/jaren’s chemistry more. do like paxton though and this is a daxton friendly blog! i don't bite :D

romance aside, i'd love to dive in to kamala and devi's relationship a bit more, because i love their dynamic and i feel we frankly don't get enough of it. i'd like more of kamala's work life. and also regarding kamala's love life, i want her to have a conversation with prashant before moving on to mr. k if she does. i'd also like to have more nalini and pati bc them >>>

i wish to see ben's home-life again, considering that it was a big part of season one and his reaction to devi's cheating in season two (and i am frankly not satisfied with a one line mention of him fixing his family issues in the season two pilot. like no, that's not something that can be solved that easily).

i want to see aneesa's family interacting with devi's family more!!! can they attend an event together? or maybe a family dinner? literally anything i'd love that.

i want!!! more rebecca!!! and devi&rebecca as well!!! and more ojichan

i want to see ben and paxton becoming friends. i want it so bad, no one understands how much i want it, because it offers so much potential. the two don't understand each other and there might be lingering, underlying resentment for each other (confirmed from paxton's side as we see in his episode, and partly confirmed by ben's that dick doesn't deserve you line) bc of the two-timing. i'd just love to see them bond over their differences, i feel like they'd be buddies y'know? and perhaps it would be nice to see the love interests bond for once. i also wanted ben to be paxton's tutor that one ep but whatever

i'm curious to see how trent and eleanor work as a couple, so i'd like to see more of them. i do wanna know if oliver's alright though :( the boy deserved better and i stand by that.

okay. in terms of the love triangle, they obviously won't drop it because, well. marketing. but also, the way they ended it in s2 felt like it was foreshadowing. i'd like to see how daxton works as a relationship, and if (or when, bc i think they are fundamentally different people who aren't that compatible but maybe that's just me) they break up, id like it to be amicable (same with ben and aneesa, i love them as besties and i don't want aneesa hurt, also regardless of what unassuming people may say, ben 100% cares for aneesa's wellbeing and truly does like her for who she is, not just as his rebound). then i'd want devi's ass to stay single for a while, to love herself and all. while all that happens, i'd love to see ben and devi kinda pining for each other while being there for one another, esp from ben's side considering what eleanor told him at the dance, i'd like to see emotional comfort scenes, bonding over similarities, etc. NO CHEATING PLEASE. and then eventually, once their respective relationships end amicably, they can find their way back to each other romantically.

but of course this is all wishful thinking, and at the end of the day it's a teen show, with complex characters who make dumb decisions that are either predictable or not at all something i saw coming. and i embrace that! i look forward to s3 if we get one we better get one but yeah! just a couple of my thoughts.
