alright i've seen this movie six times here's my take on it

he purposely left himself visible to lead everyone away from the base, hoping they would all follow him. we even see that he purposely stays out in the open for the most part, because we see there are hiding places when peter yanks him up into the inner parts of the city to talk to him, hiding places that he could have used, that all the other spiders miss.

i think that was definitely not his plan from the beginning, when he first zapped the cage and all the other spiders away, he was probably just like, "FUCK" and sprinted off. he was originally just hiding behind spider-man 2211 (earth-9500) which, i'll admit, was a good time to use the invisibility, but as soon as miguel told everyone to catch him was probably when he thought of the plan and booked it, visibly.

because lets be real here, miles is a GOOD spider-man. he's able to outrun hundreds of spiders, many of whom have been doing this for a hell of a lot longer than he has, not to mention dealing with brand new powers no spider has, and he's incredibly good at thinking on his feet. he takes what he's seen and puts his own spin on it (the ripeter and miles collider parallel from the first movie, anyone?) and that makes him an amazing spidey.

so yeah, sorry for the tangent but i think he didn't use his invis powers on purpose

Miles can turn invisible. Why couldn’t he just turn invisible when those spider people were chasing him?
