Hiii, I read your Louis 28 songs lining up with H’s albums post a while ago - honestly that boy is ridiculous I couldn’t stop laughing - and with the sunflower vol 6 comparison, the first line of the equivalent song ‘come away from the window’ immediately made me think of flowers in the window by travis. There’s this Twitter thread about the 2 songs. Don’t know if it really links any further than just the title but thought I’d put it out there. Have a lovely day!!

Okay BUCKLE UP. I too realised this a while back and have wanted to add that to the post since but whenever I try to edit that monster, tumblr’s just like I can’t hear you lalalala and just...doesn’t save the edit. Anyways! I’m gonna use this ask to talk about this, about ALL THIS (yeah this is why it took me so long to answer this ask, sorry anon) because Oh Boi have I wanted to talk about this. 

First up, little recap of that twitter thread: Harry really loves the song Travis - Flowers in the window. He has called it his favorite song in 2011 on twitter, again in a 2012 interview, put it on his top 10 all time songs mixtape in 2016, and in 2018 named this song when asked what he’d want played at his funeral. 

The linked twitter thread goes on to find parallels between this song to a bunch of 1D/Harry songs, but I just want to focus on Sunflower vol. 6, because this song seems to be very very very inspired by Flowers in the Window. Both songs describe going through different stages (it’s been ages come so far fro-) with someone, each chorus using the same words and buildup but slightly altered to change its meaning, placing them further down into a timeline, later timepoints in a relationship. It’s as if inbetween verse and chorus time passes where stuff happens but that stuff isn’t included in the song, just the feelings and how they slightly change and grow over time, always still including the same amount of love. They’re both really cute lovesongs that compare their love/loved one with flowers and stages of growth. Besides that there are really obvious links in terms of lyrics too, the most obvious being “plant new seeds and watch them grow” vs “plant new seeds in the melody”, but also “there’s no reason to feel bad” vs “I don’t wanna make you feel bad”. Both lyrics with the mentioned lyrics highlighted (Sorry it’s ugly):

(Am I getting to the point? Not before sidetracking 28 more times:) I have a lot more to say about Sunflower vol. 6. The gallery lyrics for one!? (not mine but I screamed in the tags idk does that count)

I’m also entirely convinced it’s placed both before and after Two Ghosts. Basically, when he takes this sharp loud inhale about 1,5 mins into the song, that’s where you could just plop down Two Ghosts. (you could say, he’s about to jump into the water, about to swim in the glass half-empty, I know now I’m just going too far but eh), then when Two Ghosts ends we’re coming back to Sunflower at “your flower just died”, the aftermath of their first “things were good and now they’re not” that is Two Ghosts, (or: the dying of the sunflower is described in Two Ghosts) but now we’re moving on and the story continues, where he is still wanting to get to know the person, wanting to start over, “I’m still tongue tied”, and so on. Lemme just stop rambling and actually convince you, really, because he links the 2 songs through the lyrics:

Two Ghosts: Tongue-tied like we've never known Sunflower vol. 6: I was just  / I’m still tongue-tied

Two Ghosts: Tastes so sweet, looks so real, sounds like something that I used to feel,  but I can't touch what I see // Trying to remember what it feels to have a heartbeat Sunflower vol. 6: Sometimes / Sunflowers just died, keep it sweet in your memory (This one isn’t as clear as the other two, but, it’s sweet, and he remembers now)

Two Ghosts: The fridge light washes this room white, moon dances over your good side (kitchen + dancing + night) Sunflower vol. 6: Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor, I couldn’t want you any more tonight (hey it’s kitchen + dancing + night!)

Side-side-sidetrack: To make matters worse, I also think Two Ghosts was a great attempt at weaving lyrics in such a way that the majority of it can be applied to both the beard (or PR stunt counterpart, Taylor in this case) as well as the real deal (Mr haha 28 haha 369 haha you read into things lololol I hate him), and that this kitchen dancing in the night thing was initially a nudge to miss Swift, as in All Too Well she sings:

Cause there we are again in the middle of the night,  We're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light

All Too Well being on the album Red, the album the whole Haylor stunt was for from her side, written before she knew H, was supposed to be about Jake, just think about the logic of H taking that lyric and using it to describe their relationship and how idiotically strange that would be if it wasn’t a stunt. And there are more nudges like it, but, I don’t think I should sidetrack even further. Let’s just quickly pause and try to consider Sunflower being about Camille and Two Ghosts about Taylor and then H using the same words and descriptions for each relationship that were 7 years apart while his albums clearly show he absolutely doesn’t lack the ability to songwrite and... use new words... and describe things... like with range and stuff... just sayin.... 

TLDR: these songs link on purpose and here is a 28-boop-hint why. Now we can go back to Flowers in the Window vs Sunflower Vol 6 and what the hell it has to do with Louis’ playlist.

In case someone bumps into this without reading the longass deranged puzzle of Louis’ 28 songs playlist possibly hiding Fine Line (But if you do, I’m so sorry for everything, you’ll be here forever, I’m so sorry), a brief summary:

Ok no a serious summary: in 2019 Louis made a public playlist called “28 Songs”, that included, you guessed it, 28 songs. In the initial version uploaded in february @sexatoxbridge high fived god with the reach that the lil shit lined up the start of the playlist to HS1 (here, my addition here)

Louis later on changed up the songs a couple of times throughout the year, putting emphasis on “a fresh set of bangers” on the last update in October (the day before announcing Walls, and Fine Line was announced less than 2 weeks after that)

And when I started listening to this playlist late to the party after knowing Fine Line pretty well, I was like mfer did done it again. The first 3 songs seemed to line up with Fine Line, and the remaining fit as well, but just, scrambled. I did make a case for it being lined up with a draft version of the Fine Line album, but now thinking about it (the whole thing being a massive reach, but within a reach that one really took off well into space), it makes more sense that he just hussled them, I mean, I kinda doubt H wouldn’t be set on an album order less than 2 weeks before announcing it? Either way, I was able to find a buddy for each song a little all too well, with at first sight Sunflower vol. 6 pairing up with Ten Tonnes - Lucy being the weakest link, other than “under the sun, I’m calling where you belong” = a sunflower? Not “resolving” that shit haunted me for way too long and I attempted to crack it (copy-paste from the 28 songs post:) 

Sunflower vol 6 tells a story of starting over as it first goes through wanting to be close to someone, then having them, but then “your flowers just died, plant new seeds in the melody” (+ Stage 6 of sunflowers starts a new cycle/pollination). In Lucy, someone is two steps away from the singer, in a place they left their faith/got burned (H: your flowers just died), and the singer is telling them to not stay in that place, pick their faith back up (H: plant new seeds in the melody) and come back into his arms (H: let me inside, I wanna get to know you).

And I thought I had found peace. Wrong. Fast forward

it hit me. And it hit anon as well.

So the above crack-attempt still stands, as all 3 songs share this theme, but in terms of lyrics there isn’t much overlap between Lucy and Sunflower vol. 6.

It.... it just goes on like that. I tried to color code things that seemed similar and welp mostly failed I think because the whole thing is just very similar. It starts off describing cold, with someone holding someone else in the past, but not now, basically wanting warmth back, the you/Lucy being in a place holding onto negative feelings (that the singer seems to know well or is wise about) over things that happened in time periods that aren’t described in the song itsself, telling the you/person that there’s time, but please don’t be long, there is time to change and grow into something better, with Lucy at a timepoint of being a bit further removed from the singer, as compared to Flowers in the Window (actually that part fits better with Sunflower vol. 6). If you told me Travis and Lucy are in a relationship I mean look at this shit...

Long story short either I’m insane or Louis is but probably both.

Thank you again @opera-my-beloved​!! the questions just keep getting better and better! That being said this post is atrociously long :’) FAIR WARNING

Any favorite weird/funny lyrics? Bartolo, Basilio, and Marcellina’s in the Act II Finale of Nozze (musically more than anything)... oh, of course “pa..Pa...PA!” (ad infinitum) in Papageno/Papagena’s duet... Figaro’s “Largo al Factotum”... and I completely agree with @revedebeatrice​ and was actually screaming over that particular “---mètre” line in Hoffman from the eye trio today (idk “thermomètre” in particular just really got me)

Also hmmmm sometimes I laugh at the poetic lines in Trovatore (I was going to say only Manrico, especially during the Act II finale - “ The waves of the rivers have an irresistible force!” okay Manrico -- but then again he has his Troubadour songs too... and then Leonora gets almost - ALMOST poetic in her Act IV aria... and actually di Luna is more poetic than her, I mean, Il Balen??) so anyways I find those funny because. Haha it just is. The overly “poetic” parts just heighten the ridiculousness of the melodrama; so many other more serious operas have such less dramatic librettos and I find it funny.

What are some opera songs that make you lose your mind? Finale of Onegin (I wrote an essay about it remember hehe?) but also Olga and Tatyana’s Duet and Skazhi Kotoraya Tatyana (my beloved) and Uvi, Somnenya Net/Puskai Pogibnu Ya, and, and :) Act II finale of Nozze Act I and II Preludes of Un Ballo in Maschera (and the Act III Quintet) Un Dì Felice/Ebben..? from La Traviata Violin Aria from Les Contes d’Hoffman

Are there any Met interview moments that live rent-free in your mind? Definitely Roberto Alagna in Don Carlo (never forget that somersault!!!) and Renée interviewing the cast of the 2011 Trovatore (Sondra Radvanovsky and Marcelo Álvarez being so CUTE) also when Dmitri Hvorostovsky a) called Sondra Radvanovsky “rock and roll” in the Ballo interview, because she is, and b) when when he held ground for Onegin when Beverly Sills interviewed him with Renée Fleming by saying "I would really disagree with you, because if [Onegin] was…cold and [aloof], Tatyana would never fall in love with me. Obviously I have quite a great bunch of qualities…”

What’s an opera production that you positively rant about for an hour and a production that you could angry rant about for an hour? Positive: 2007 Carsen Onegin (I have matured though, and seen many different Onegins now, so I understand why others don’t like the set or production. Completely valid. But with That Cast, they could just sing the music in a blackbox theatre and I would say it’s the greatest production ever so. Also, those leaves ARE magic)

Negative: I really don’t have an answer for this one! Only anger/confusion for why certain productions WEREN’T filmed live in HD

Are there any weirdly specific moments from a stream/production that you love? I second @sweatershowgirl​, that heel kick in Faust (2011) is glorious (so is all the drinking form beakers, haha #toxic). So many in the 1998 Nozze - Basilio’s hair pats, the pheasant triology, Marcellina’s affectionate cheek kisses, Bryn’s growls. Basically all of Kate Lindsey’s Nerone and Nicklausse.... and YES Pretty Yende and Matthew Polenzani in the 2018 Elisir... (make that Polenzani’s absolute Attitude towards Papa Germont in the 2012 Traviata)

Which opera production was the most visually pleasing to you? Too difficult! I was of course very pleased with Leaf Onegin (aka My Many Colored Onegin) because of all the colors, and as I’ve said I loved the 2012 Rusalka....Oh, of course! the 2018 Cendrillon and Traviata....absolutely lovely. WAIT WAIT also Comte Ory (all that pink and purple and of course the “nuns!” ahhh!!)

Is there any singer who changed your opinion on an opera character? I couldn’t take Leonora seriously until Sondra Radvanovsky. Mainly because her Leonora doesn’t necessarily take anything too seriously and when she does she does it with power (oops, I wrote a 20k word essay about it) (yeah I’m just tagging everything on here tonight huh)

Are there any productions you wish had been filmed but are only available in audio form (or not available at all)? Apparently Thomas Hampson was Onegin in 2009? (LEAF ONEGIN!!) And I’d love to see a full Renée Fleming/Ramón Vargas Traviata... and honestly, so many.... I’ll stick with those two since this post is already way too long :)

my experience at a Super M concert :)

Y’all I saw Super M in Vancouver this Thursday and my eyes and ears were BLESSED! IDK how to describe it, but Kai is even more Kai in person. Like his dancing is 100x harder than what you see on screen, and his proportions...OMG HIS PROPORTIONS. I used to think his Jopping outfit did him dirty but seeing it in real life...WOW HIS LEGS ARE SO LONG BUT HIS TORSO BALANCES EVERYTHING OUT PERFECTLY. Like when I see Ten or Taeyong, I’m like “damn they are pretty skinny” and Lucas is like BUILT for a kpop boy, but Kai is like peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerfectly inbetween!!!! I could not take my eyes off of him during the group numbers (except during times like when Taeyong was grinding on the floor during No Manners fkjaldhalfjds) because he’s just soooo beautiful and his movements are sooooo expressive and purposeful and I just CAN’T.

I have been a Kai stan since 2012 and missed the chance to see the EXO concert in New Jersey so I had to make it to Super M. No regrets travelling across the country for it :’) I just wish he had more performance time LOL everyone had a solo stage but his was at the veryyyyy end and you can kinda see that he’s a little bored lol or maybe I’m just projecting LOL Also omgggg his solo (side note: CONFESSION SHOOK ME UP EVEN THOUGH I BARELY WATCH IT ON YOUTUBE BECAUSE the choreo is kinda boring ngl) is at the end and then he has to run and change to do No Manners and then get all cute for With You AND HE LOOKED SOOOO TIRED. He kept doing that thing where he has his hands on his knees (me when my anemia catches up to me lol) when the other members aren’t looking BUT THEY NOTICED and I think they were a little worried but they couldn’t show it so they just kept patting him on the back. Like right when With You began, Kai stands between Mark and Lucas and they’re both like “o_o u ok?” and he just waves it off and i’m like “OMG HE’S NOT OK” from across the stadium LOOOL He kept trying to be cute for the number, but he still hadn’t recovered even for the commentary section after ;__; he had asked backstage for a water but nobody noticed djkalhgdkalfjdskl I’m so sad.

Then he took a towel/napkin from the front of the stage and started wiping down his shirt with it and I forgot about being sad lol

ANYWAY they had to perform Jopping right after that and I was genuinely worried because he looked soooooo tired but he still went hard during Jopping. Like....I was shocked LOL He was so fine LMAO.

I would love to post videos of my commentary during the concert because they’re hilarious but it’s just me going “OMG WOW WOW WOOOOOW OMG AHHHH WOW HE’S SO HOT WHAT THE FUUUUCK”

OK about the other members:

Ten is literally an anime boy! They drew his eyebrows soooooo sharply for the show and during his solo, he literally looked like a hot anime villain like wOW. And his dancing!!!! He’s soooo strong but flow-y and everything looks easy but difficult at the same time LOL he was the member that often diverted my attention away from Kai because sometimes Ten would do some next level shit and my brain’s like “WHAT was that.”

Taeyong....he’s the sweetest thing omg He did a hard rap solo stage and then comes out and says shit like “Vancouver, you are so beautiful...like Mark!...You are so hot...like Mark!” He’s PRECIOUS with his English. He tries soooo hard and I feel like all he wants to do is make people happy ;__; i wuv him

Mark IS HILARIOUSLY AWKWARD. And he just runs with it! Sometimes he’ll make accidental innuendos with his words (he wouldn’t stop talking about how much time he and the members spent in a ~spa~ like bitch he LOVED that spa) and when he realizes he’s being awkward, he just tapers off his sentences and hopes nobody realizes but THE WHOLE STADIUM REALIZES and it doesn’t matter that he’s speaking in Korean because his members all know when he’s said something awkward LOL my whole son.

Lucas WOW LUCAS IS WHAT I ASPIRE TO BE IF I WERE A BOY. He’s really goodlooking (as we all know) but he’s just soooo funny with the shit that he does. I’m sure there are fancams of his solo stage (Go Boom??) online but I had never watched them and I was SHOCKED by how fun it was. I loooove that he doesn’t go for the sexy or hard concept because he’s sooooooo fun and cute and entertaining when he’s just being himself T____T Please go watch his solo stage online and cry at the video playing behind him. He’s SOOO cute.

Taemin..............Taemin taemin teaalfdklah WHAT THE FUCK. SHINee was what got me into kpop when they came out with ring ding dong and I fell in looooooooooooove with Jonghyun and his blond hair lol But Taemin!?!?! What?!?!?! So the concert starts off with I Can’t Stand the Rain and then Taemin does his solos.......that’s like almost 15min straight dancing/singing HARD. And then they do a bit of talking and his voice is so different! Like I knew it was different but hearing it in real life?!! wow

MY BOY BAEKHYUN I LOVE HIM WOW. I thought they would lipsync a bunch of their songs because hello it’s tiring af BUT BYUN BAEKHYUN SHOCKED ME WHEN HE DID HIS HIGH NOTES AND YOU COULD SEE HIS VEINS ON THE SCREEN JFKALHGKLSJFKDLS And he’s sooooo cute and cheesy and his voice during UN Village omggggggggggggggggg I’m soooo glad I got to hear it live ;____; I’m just a little sad that nobody really does fanchants around here other than singing along to the song because when there are those silent beats during UN Village, nobody did “BAEK-HYUN-NIE” and it just felt awkward to me and I was so sad screaming it by myself LOL

ANYWAY the show was a short 1.5hrs where we stood the ENTIRE TIME even though we all had seats -_- Jopping came on in the beginning as the background to an intro vid and everyone was shook so we all stood up...AND THEN NOBODY SAT BACK DOWN FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE SHOW LOOOL The boys are soooooo energetic and I can’t believe they do this every two days while hopping on and off a bunch of planes/buses (they bussed to vancouver from seattle T_T) Watching them honestly makes me fear that they’re going to collapse after every set because THAT’S HOW I FEEL LOL

The concert was such an amazing experience and I hope everyone loves these boys forever and ever because they deserve it T____T

ok so i haven’t really shared my thoughts on the bbc miniseries but i’m going to try to do so now, it just probably won’t be super well-structured or organized because who has the time for that.

so it took until episode three for things to start sinking in and settling for me. i don’t know if that’s because this episode borrowed bits straight from the novel (that they still managed to fuck up in places but you know what whatever i’ve given up), or because i’m getting accustomed to this version of the story and getting a feel for the writing, or because some of the things that were set up in the first two episodes are sort of, shakily, paying off. and i absolutely think davies shot himself in the foot here by going on and on about how he really understood the original text and how his adaptation was going to be so very accurate, because i don’t normally judge les mis adaptations this harshly, but every time he gets something wrong all i can think of is his smug interview, so that was probably a terrible decision on his part. usually i like adaptations that either stick as closely to the text as possible while making reasonable changes for the new medium, or that get the themes down really well while allowing more freedom and the shuffling of events and tweaking of characters. imo davies is accomplishing neither. 

and like there’s some fucking weird stuff he does -- like having valjean be the one to fire fantine directly, that starts cropping up again in uncomfortable ways, such as when he’s weeping at her bedside and i can’t fully digest his guilt and manpain because i just remember him calling her a Lying Liar Who Lies to her face and not giving a shit about whether or not she had an actual child relying on her. that’s one example. also no mourning for the bishop? also weird, stilted, forgettable Who Am I equivalent scene? things are beginning to pile up and i guess i’m sort of invested now? maybe? to see how the garbage fire burns?

and i brought up the musical just then which i rarely do because you see i usually complain about the musical and what it does to the characters but this miniseries is really making me pine for the 2012 movie of all things. probably because it rips so much from it but then doesn’t have the pathos that the music brings to tie it all together. it’s really shocking that in the year 2019 i can have some appreciation for tom hooper’s shaky cam vision because it told the story better than davies is right now. ( you either die a villain or live long enough to see yourself become a hero??? - clio 2019 ) like straight up there are so many times when i’ve been like ‘man i wish they’d start singing right now because the music is beautiful and conveys character motivation and development so well’ and making me wish hugh jackman were jean valjean again? is a sin. it’s a sin that this budget hugh jackman valjean is bringing so little empathy to the role like lord is he violent. and idk if it’s the actor’s fault or davies’ but i’ll tell you now i am one of the few people from what i’ve read on here that actually liked the Petit Gervais Scream of Rage and Pain and even then i think they’ve overdone it with his anger. like they’d better start balancing this valjean out ( and they kind of are, and cosette’s child actor put this episode on her back and carried it for the rest of the team ) or i’m not going to buy his post-cosette softness. and i KNOW i know before anyone says it that madeleine is not at the same level of pious radiance as m. leblanc but YOU CANNOT REAP WHAT YOU DO NOT SOW! i don’t believe this man had a religious revelation and is trying to live by god’s law sans intimate human warmth that will come in the form of cosette’s supreme dawn on his soul. valjean is, in msurm, holy water waiting to be turned into wine, and i don’t feel it! i don’t believe it! this guy is a dick! even his decision to go help champmathieu is turned into this awkward chess game with javert.

SPEAKING OF JAVERT! SPEAKING OF WEIRD SHIT! i love david oyelowo i do and i don’t think this is his fault, i strongly believe that whatever is going on here is a result of the script and direction that he’s being given and he’s just doing his damnedest to bring davies’ vision to life ( but also apparently he has a hand in production??? ) but WHAT was going on with the entire. you know what not even just msurm what the fuck is happening with his whole plot. BACK TO ‘YOU CANNOT REAP WHAT YOU DO NOT SOW’, THIS LIKE? FAITH? THAT JAVERT? APPARENTLY HAD IN VALJEAN COMING FORWARD AT ARRAS? HIS FAKE ASS APOLOGY THAT I DIDN’T BUY FOR A SINGLE SECOND? WHATEVER WAS HAPPENING WITH HIS FACIAL EXPRESSION IN THE COURT ROOM? THIS IS SETTING UP A JAVERT WHO SOMEHOW, SOME WAY, BELIEVED THAT VALJEAN WOULD CONFESS HIMSELF TO SAVE SOMEBODY ELSE’S SKIN. HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO KILL JAVERT OFF NOW? HOW ARE YOU GOING TO JUSTIFY HIS DERAILMENT? DAVIES? HELLO? but you know what i’m not gonna pick at accuracy or character any more than i already have because truthfully? i made this post to say that when all six parts are out i’m going to analyze this miniseries as being part of the horror genre because as a semi-educated film Person this entire thing has been lit, shot, and scored like it’s supposed to be a piece of horror cinema and i’m absolutely befuddled every single time and it just keeps going. like les mis is horrifying don’t get me wrong but not. not like this. @pilferingapples you seem to be the hub of discussion, thoughts?

monday: do you struggle with the ‘boring’ parts of writing?

Umm... well right now I apparently struggle with *all* the parts of writing, sooo...

Honestly, idk what the boring parts are? I’ve never felt any part of writing to be boring. I mean, if you’re talking about the boring parts of a story, well, my attitude is that if I’m bored while writing it then someone will be bored while reading it, so I probably shouldn’t be writing it in the first place.

If you mean the things people traditionally seem to find “boring” with writing like outlining and planning and editing, then ABSOLUTELY NO. Those are the parts I’m best at. Sit me down and let me story plan for HOURS AT A TIME and I’m filled with joy. Actually writing the plan into a semi-coherent narrative.... nahhhh friend?

It’s a good thing this asks about the most self-indulgent fic I’ve *posted* because it means I don’t have to tell you about all these WIPs.....

IDK. I think they’re all self-indulgent to a degree, TBH. Like, I think to myself “you know what I want to happen??? and then I do it.

To some degree, Five Times Christian Eriksen Helped His Teammates With Their Problems fits this bill, since the only reason it was written is that a friend and I were sitting around basically tossing out more and more ridiculous scenarios about our personal headcanons of what really goes on at Spurs and then I was like, hey, you know what, we should make that a fic! And then podfic it! With other people! For a fic/podfic fest! Like... okay, Drizz... okay.

Oh. Does it have to be a fic comment? Because I have a lot of them, but also I have podfic comments that I’m like... yaaaahhhhhhssssss over every time. 

(Since it’s you doing the asking, one of them is the comment @analise010 left on the podfic I did of “My Fair Lad” in which she was messaging me on WhatsApp when I was out shopping for her Christmas gift and I was literally walking through the mall staring at my phone laughing so hard I was crying:

“Okay. So. You are... THE WORST. I started this like, "Let's go on a journey." AND JOURNEY WE FUCKING DID.First with the eyeliner, I was torn between you making it such an intimate moment and screaming at Baby Garret(sp?) to stop being such a brat because do you wanna be an emo hottie or nah????Then they went to club and like... this is when I started talking back to the podfic. Voicing Cristiano's wistful inner monologue was one thing, but all of a sudden he's pressing his finger into this baby boy's mouth!I was okay until the shower scene at the end like, "Want some company?" I was making dinner, gasped, and had to step away from the counter because I could no longer cook and listen at the same time. This podfic is so disrespectful and I love you for it.“

(The WhatsApp convo featured her telling me she hated me and we were no longer speaking and that I cannot just disrespect her like this by making her FEEL THINGS for boys she doesn’t even know. It was a magical moment.)

But! I’ve re-read through all my comments and here is the one that I was like, practically in tears over. For one thing, it was on a fic that I LOVED but got very little attention for whatever reason, so I was glad to know it had left an impact on someone other than me. Second, it was exactly what I’ve always wanted. When I first started writing fic I would read other fics and I would say “someday, I want something I write to have as much of an impact on someone’s life as the things I read have on mine.” This fic comment, then, really made me feel like... yes. you’re here and you’re writing for you, but also YOU HAVE MADE MAGIC HAPPEN FOR SOMEONE ELSE and that’s goals.

Merlin spent the week and a half that Arthur was gone splitting his time between crafting careful explanations that never ended up explaining the important things, the things that would make Arthur listen, and making half-baked plans to escape to Ealdor. He found a number of fire-proofing spells that would have no effect if they decided to cut his head off, and figured out how to adapt an invulnerability spell he had been trying to find a way to cast on Arthur without him noticing so that it would protect him from being decapitated, but it would have no effect on anything but metal. Despite all his frantic searching, he did not find a teleportation spell, because that would have been too simple and if there was one thing Merlin had learned in his years at Camelot, it was that nothing was ever simple.

Have you been to any festivals? Warped Tour, three times.

Which artist/band have you seen the most live?  The Summer Set, four times. First concert you went to?  Clay Walker and Lorrie Morgan, 1994. Last concert you went to? Goo Goo Dolls at Darien Lake last year. We always try to go to the Buffalo shows since they’re from there and it’s the closest venue to our hometown. What is your next concert? As of right now, All Time Low in Pittsburgh July 25. It’s the day before my birthday so Dave got us VIP tickets. And I bought one for my sister.

Which artists/bands would you love to see live?  There are too many to name. A lot I’ve seen before. But my biggest one is Paramore. The farthest you’ve traveled to go to a concert?  Six hours. Four to get back home to pick up Dave’s brother and then another two from there to Darien Lake.

Best opening act you’ve seen? The first time I saw Set it Off they were opening for Every Avenue, and I fell in love with them immediately. And I love love loved Austin Gibbs when he opened for The Maine.   Worst opening act you’ve seen? They weren’t bad, per say, but I wasn’t really into Chester French when we saw GGD and the Spill Canvas. 

Have you met any bands/artists at a concert?  Louden Swain. What’s one thing you have to bring to a concert?  Camera. What’s the most you’ve paid for a ticket?  I think the last time I saw Alabama with my sister and her husband they were over a hundred apiece but my ticket was a birthday gift. Most I’ve ever paid was probably around $60. Best concert you’ve been to? Alabama both times, Goo Goo Dolls & Spill Canvas in 2010, and Every Avenue in 2012.   Worst concert you’ve been to?  I’ve never been to a bad one. Have you been in a social media post an artist posted after a show?  Probbbbably not. Funniest concert memory? Actually I’m not a fan of the First Niagara Center in Buffalo. Too big.

Who do you enjoy going to concerts with?  Anyone. I live for concerts. General admission or seated concerts? Both. Have you been to multiple dates for one tour?  No but I would if I had the disposable income. Have you been to concerts 2 or more days in a row? Nope. Have you ever received free tickets from a contest or an artist’s crew? Nah, they were either birthday gifts or I bought them myself. Luckily my birthday falls right in the middle of prime concert season. Have you been front row and/or back row for a concert?  I’ve been right up to the stage at GA shows, never been way in the back. Have you seen your favorite artist in concert?  Yes, several of them. Keith Urban three times, Goo Goo Dolls three times, and Alabama twice. This year will be my second time seeing All Time Low. No, half the fun of going is being with friends. I have, however, broken off from my group at Warped if we wanted to see different bands that were playing at the same time. 

What’s the best part of a concert in your opinion?  Uh, everything? The music, the energy, the memories, the beer. It’s the only, literally ONLY, time I ever feel comfortable being around a huge crowd because we’re all there for the same thing and just totally feeling it all. It’s amazing.

Have you ever heard/seen an artist soundcheck before their show?  At Warped you kinda have to because everything moves so fast. What’s the biggest venue you’ve been to a concert at?  I mean the setup for Warped is pretty big but idk if it’s as big as First Niagara. What’s the smallest venue you’ve been to a concert at?  Bars for local bands. And yes, I believe they count. Have you ever had side stage seats?  No but I’ve been at a couple standing room shows where I got pretty damn close. Which venue have you been to the most concerts at?  Darien Lake. Do you post a lot about a concert you’ve attended on social media or very little?  Maybe a few posts each, unless it’s like a huge deal for me to have been there, then I’ll go nuts. Has a concert or tour you were planning on going to got cancelled?  Nope.

Have you seen a band in concert before a member left the band / they broke up?  Many. The best was Every Avenue on their last tour. Favorite song you’ve heard live?  It’s always Name. It’s not even my favorite GGD song but to hear it live is so much different. I get like legit emotional. Have you ever seen an artist/band play an album in full? No. I would have killed to see the Black Parade tour. Which artist would you refuse to see in concert?  Beyonce because she’s overrated as hell and probably super expensive. What’s the craziest thing a fan has done at a concert you’ve been to?  When I saw Breathe Carolina there was a dude in a gorilla costume and two other guys dressed like bananas and they crowdsurfed the whole time. It was hilarious. Which venue(s) would you love to go to for a concert?  CBGB, obviously, even though it’s gone and I have no other reason or desire to ever go to New York.  Have you ever been to a concert at a venue that no longer exists?  Mohawk Place in Buffalo closed not long after I was there for Set it Off/Every Avenue but they’re open again now. Have you ever lost something/got something stolen at a concert? I had an earring ripped out by a crowdsurfer once. Have people made fun of you or laughed because of how you were acting at a concert?  I doubt it. Everybody does crazy shit at shows. Didn't blog nor inktober in two-three days. But not much happened really. Yesterday was my parents’ wedding anniversary and my sister had had this idea for a present for my mom. Okay so my mom had kept this tiny aquamarine stone for over 27 years, she’d bought it on their honeymoon in Brazil. Last year she decided she wanted to show it off and took it to a jeweler to put it into a ring. She could afford it now. So the new ring bliss lasted about two weeks until the stone fell off and got lost. It could’ve fallen on the street, in our house (it’s very viable, the stone is so small and translucid, we’d sweep and thoroughly look through the dust we'd pick up trying to find it. It was that small) So my sister went "let's get her another ring with the same type of stone! And if we could actually embed the new stone into the old ring that'd be great". Come their anniversary and the ring isn't ready. Well mom doesn't know we're working on this so it's fine but it really is a shame.
