She’s like me / violent, cruel, outsider, made of pain and nothing else.  No hope, no real future, and just smoking ash for a past.  AND PEOPLE LIKE THAT DON’T BELONG IN A BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFUL WORLD, DO THEY?

Would you believe this is how she empathizes?  “Weapons like us don’t belong in the good future your new friends are trying to build.  If you kill me, you better kill yourself, too.”

Sometimes, she disappears — days at a time, or a week or so.  Tries not to, knows others might need them.  It’s hard to stop, though.  Never quite sure just where she went when she comes back, half - believing they just disappeared entirely / like air, like dead star.  Maybe this Lumine, now, is just a remnant, not real at all.

——— This is all to say that when she wanders into the largely empty tavern, she barely notices Diluc at the bar.  It’s the first time she’s been seen in Mondstadt or anywhere in over a week.  Her eyes don’t raise, but she does mutter, “Grape juice, please?”

“Well, it’s definitely nice to be back in the field again.  I’d really missed getting to be more hands - on.”  Which is true!  Still, it’s hard to look at Shadow, yet another person who’d been harmed due to her leadership, and not be reminded of the OTHER reason she’d needed to get away from running the Restoration.  “And...”  a faint, self - deprecating laugh.  “I can’t imagine anybody was really hoping for me to keep on leading things after...everything.”

“I understand wanting adventure, but you’ve got to be more careful!”  Nevermind that she’s the pot calling the kettle black — Amy’s as hot - headed and impulsive as any number of her friends — it’s true!  If Amy hadn’t showed up to help, then the (  now destroyed  ) mass of badniks might have really hurt this stranger.  They eye the hedgehog up and down, then shake their head.  “I’m Amy, by the way.  You’re not hurt, are you?”
