one thing i regret is quitting club penguin when i did, like back in 2012, probably before the operation:blackout event. I never got to experience it :(
I doubt any private servers would recreate it either, a lot of them like to do custom stuff which I don't really like, I'd rather just play it how it was before they added all the disney shit to it (and drastically changed the artstyle and humanised the penguins)
#ughuguhug i can't stand the disney art style on it im sorry#i know a lot of people younger than me would beg to differ#i started playing in 2008 iirc. so the old artstyle was pretty much what I saw the whole time I played#plus i guess i felt it got too boring and literally everything required a membership#it was not worht paying the money for it#it was better having a Wow sub#well guess which game is still officially online.. Not club penguin lol.#if there's one good thing disney did to it is they made herbert look awesome in that event#he looked so badass. he's kinda cute too ghdshgs#also those shorts they made weren't too bad either#i think iwatched like. One of them#i think they got deleted tho. Idk where to find them#also yes i am aware disney bought club penguin in 2007.#but it felt like they didn't really touch it until 2013.

An awesome new “Dune” trailer asks you to see “Dune” in theaters
An awesome new “Dune” trailer asks you to see “Dune” in theaters

If you know nothing about Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel Dune, in addition to the fact that it is so kind of extra, is that the latest film adaptation has been long awaited for long time. Almost since David Lynch released his own somewhat unfortunate version in 1984, fans have called for a bigger and better version. Dune film. It’s the white whale of science fiction – a book so unimaginable that everyone wants to try it. Maybe that’s why, when Warner Bros. announced it in 2019 Arrival director Denis Villeneuve would be next to prove it, the general consensus was, “Well, if anyone can do it, he can.” The suspense was real.
Then Covid-19 it happened, cinemas closed and what was supposed to be the most anticipated film of 2020 became the most anticipated film of 2021. Then Warner Bros. announced that its entire list of 2021 films, including Dune—It would premiere on HBO Max on the same day it hit theaters. Villeneuve, a cinephile in every sense of the word, was lipid, writing in Variety that decision “might just kill the Dune franchise ”by not giving the film a chance to have a good performance at the box office. Today the studio has released the main trailer for the film and practically asks you to see it in the cinema.
From the total massiveness of the sandworms to the geometric impossibility of the combined cheekbones of Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet, this is a film made for the largest screen possible, preferably an Imax. The spice-filled sands of Arrakis, the ships that look like cities, the snow suits, the imposing floating figure of Baron Harkonnen: all these things look ridiculous on the small screens; it’s almost painful to see this trailer on a 15-inch MacBook. It is a film designed to get cast in the seats of the theater. (Side note: Did any of the above terms, or anything that happens in this trailer, period) make sense to people who haven’t read the book? It sounds nice, but God has to be a tough battle for those who have no idea what “spice” is. [It’s essentially a drug that allows pilots to navigate space travel; it also turns people’s eyes blue, and … you know what? Nevermind.])
In that sense, that Dune trailer has achieved its purpose. The big upset that caused the Covid-19 theater closures was that it accelerated Hollywood’s transition to releasing movies on broadcast services the same day they hit theaters. In addition to Warner Bros. ‘movement, Disney also began to put films like Cruel at Disney + the opening weekend. Disney proved that this could be one a bit successful model with Black widow, which earned more than $ 200 million the opening weekend. But while Disney charged $ 30 for Black widow, Dune, unless something changes, will be free for anyone with an HBO Max login. To make an impact, you have to sell a lot of theater tickets or significantly increase subscriptions to HBO Max, or both.
Based on this trailer, he’s shooting the first one. Dune comes out on October 22nd and as long as there is no other increase in coronavirus infections (get vaccinated, everyone! Dune!), the movie will be played on as many screens as possible. Following Black widowpremieres, the National Association of Theater Owners issued a statement basically to say that Disney left money on the table by putting the film on its streaming service. There is no doubt that some are afraid to put Dune on HBO Max could do the same, but if this trailer is any indication, Villeneuve’s film is here to shoot on the moon. Fear is the mental killer.
