About the race promoters. Wasn't there word about the change in promotion stuff for Zandvoort wrt the second red bull seat? Like a good month or so before the gp there? I can't remember if that was rumour or if there was legit evidence floating around.

But as you said, this stuff with Austin hints at a very recent decision, or at least a highly classified (for some stupid reason?) decision. What a mess!

Right around Spa, a Daniel fan on twitter claimed to have used his sources as a ‘journalist’ who confirmed to him that race promoters have been informed to remove checo from all rbr promos and replace him with Daniel. Obviously none of it came to fruition but the Zandvoort organisers did refer to Daniel as Max’s teammate on their app right up to the Thursday of the race weekend. So, it does make you wonder.

As for the Austin posters, they were apparently already up around the Singapore weekend and since Red Bull’s own public line is that Daniel had been informed around the Baku weekend, it would only be logical to assume that all the different stakeholders would have been informed but since Zack Ashley was on his Instagram in tears, we can assume for some reason, none of this were made public.

In any event, there’s been nearly a month between Daniel’s retirement announcement and the race itself. They could have pulled those posters at any time over the last month and they chose not to. I mean, there’s a reason why the CEO of COTA was begging Daniel show up for COTA and that’s because Daniel is the face of COTA
