okkkkk this is a very scatterbrained #notes on canon here on dynkley dot com.

this blog is canon inspired / mixed canon / hc based, i.e. there is no one incarnation[s] of 𝗌𝖼𝗈𝗈𝖻𝗒 i follow above all else, nor do i closely follow canon at all. for the most part, i am literally making stuff up as i go. as habit, i have listed below are the shows / movies / comics¹ / etc. that i refer to, ordered in timeline chronological order ( that i made up ), NOT release date order.

the prequel live-action films  |  𝗆𝗒𝗌𝗍𝖾𝗋𝗒 𝗂𝗇𝖼.²  / the original where are you / TSDS / 2000′s reboot  |  the first (three) direct-to-DVD films³  |  the live-action films .

i am indifferent to most other 𝗌𝖼𝗈𝗈𝖻𝗒 stuff, because a) there’s just way too much media and b) a lot of it is quite mediocre [this is hypocritical of me]. that being said, some of the newer DVD movies are so ludicrous that it will probably bear mentioning at some point.

most of the 𝗌𝖼𝗈𝗈𝖻𝗒 comics are just adaptations of the series. i find comics to be an easier medium  to engage with for myself, but including it in the list would be repetitive - it’s still there, though. it goes without saying that apocalypse does not have a place here.

i DO NOT follow 𝗆𝗒𝗌𝗍𝖾𝗋𝗒 𝗂𝗇𝖼.’s overarching plot. mostly because i don’t like its conclusion, also because it’s different enough that it's better off existing as an AU.

the HB direct-to-DVD films were cultural resets, case closed. however, i think the 4th one kinda fell flat, so i will mostly be referring to the first three.

re : my half-assed chronology. the prequels explain how the gang met + their first cases together [ the gang meeting in high school as an origin is found in many  incarnations, but it does void pup + some other series. that’s like, whatever ].  𝗆𝗒𝗌𝗍𝖾𝗋𝗒 𝗂𝗇𝖼. ( at least, season 1 ) / the main series follow their cases when they are teenagers. zombie isle introduces a timeskip ; after that, the next few DVD movies + the live-action films follow their reunion as a well-known paranormal-adjacent detective group. that’s all my brain is willing to figure out right now.

this post is mostly for reference ; once again, i do not closely follow canon, but the vague timeline i constructed is something i follow for now, but even that may be subject to change as i flesh out her portrayal.

i will make a silly lil small headcanons post later but anyways :) velma
