i'm always so iffy about voice actors/people who worked on whatever it is on social media saying their characters were queer in some way after the fact, like i get if they genuinely couldn't say it in canon because of censorship or w/e but it feels so performative a lot of the time like i don't wanna come across like i'm hating on wes johnson cause he seems like a lovely guy, but lucien was defo not written to be a gay man, or any sexuality really, and just saying it after the fact doesn't necessarily make it true

Bnha Meta Thoughts or Wtv

How do I calmly and properly explain that realistically, the heterosexual culture (? idk the correct term leave me alone, yk what I mean) surrounding shounen anime nearly guarantees that despite whatever loopholes we want to think of or opinions we have abt character dynamics and development, or arguments on ‘if x character was a girl’, as long as there is even a slight interest on her part, Uraraka and Midoriya are probably guaranteed to end up together.

(if any ships end up being canon that is. no problem with there being no romantic relationships at all)

Is there a chance of the ship not happening? Of course. There’s always that possibility.

Still, is it likely that it won’t happen? No. No it isn’t.

And so many people always bring up a point about Horikoshi’s queer representation, but stop and examine said queer rep for a bit. (It really isn’t as revolutionary as some people will have you believe)

And that brings me to my next point. About how…odd it is that Bakugou doesn’t have the usual second girl that’s ‘his’. Normally our deuteragonist always has ‘their partner’.

And honestly? Even though I don’t ship them, I’d love if that was an indication of BkDk, merely for how amazing it would be for queer shounen mcs. But, again. See: above.

The closest person I can think of who would fit that role (2nd male lead love interest) for Bakugou would be Kirishima.

Do I think it’s more likely for them to be together due to Kirishima’s position as a side character? Yes, I think that’s something that could contribute

Do I think their bond is more likely to be romantic considering what I mentioned above plus the usual tendency of shounen writers to make two male mcs relationship almost always end up seeming queer due to, at the base of it all, misogyny? Yes. (Plus, the underdevelopment of a majority of characters and relationships is also a weak point in horikoshi’s writing but that’s for another post)

Do I think it’s more likely to have them quietly live together or some shit than it is to have them confirmed dating or have our mcs dating? Yes. I’d even be happy with just that.

Do I think that any of that is going to happen either? No. Not really. (I do have a higher hope for it or something similar though)

We’re probably more likely to see Bakugou with a random character or alone.

But again, even if it’s not an official confirmation, even it’s only one of our main characters ending up in a queer relationship, I think it would be nice to have that.

i’ve had family members who tested positive and were really sick, so i can’t imagine what it must of been like for you. it’s frustrating bc this whole wave could’ve been prevented with a more competent government.

me too!! they wanted a warlock and shadowhunter themed wedding 🥺 also having everyone there was so perfect. i do wish alec coming out was more focused in on in the books, instead of the whole clary and jace possible incest storyline. it would have been a lot more interesting.

also on the tollywood thing: you’re so right about low budget movies often being better. in addition to better acting, the stories are often better cause the directors are less formulaic. like some of the best telugu thrillers have actors and directors I’ve never heard of. also jathi ratnalu is one of my all time favorite telugu movies (go watch it if u haven’t! it’s good for when u need a laugh)

the magnus chase series is probably one of my favorite books out of the stuff rick's written, and ofc alex has a special place in my heart. i really loved the way the whole series was written, you should read the third book if you can!! and aru shah will always occupy some corner of my mind, it's amazing!! indian rep, indian queer rep, everything is so accurate, and theres a telugu character, plus yk. monsters and dragons and magic and stuff. and chandra!! chandra is The Most god ever, he is So aesthetic.
