this is the dumbest fucking post ever oh my fucking god. hey you know these people aren't REAL right. when people complain that fiyero was an unnecessary insertion into the story whose sole purpose in the musical is to heterosexualize elphaba & glinda they are not saying he is a bad person. they are talking about the WRITING. he didn't need to fucking EXIST in the musical frankly. book fiyero is a different character who even gregory maguire admitted was only there for "boy fluff" but he at least serves some kind of purpose to the book's narrative which is much more about elphaba's descent into being the wicked witch we see in the wizard of oz movie. the musical centralizes the elphaba/glinda relationship in a way the book doesn't (yay) but it ALSO makes fiyero a much bigger deal and creates a love triangle between him and glinda and elphaba and tries to sell him as this perfect guy who is elphaba's One True Love all while making him white and boring (*my biggest eyeroll ever*). once they decided to make the musical less about elphaba's tragic life and more about a complex female relationship they should've axed the "boy fluff" altogether and they blatantly only didn't so it wouldn't seem too gay. give me a fucking break i can't stand all the heteronormativity defenders coming out of the woodwork to praise musical fiyero in the year of some guy 2024
