concept: mk1 au where everything is somewhat the same except syzoth is just a regular zaterran (so no shapeshifting) and doesn’t act on his feelings for ashrah because he figures a warmblood like her wouldn’t be attracted to him. then, one day, he is proven to be wrong

Syzoth could never understand how one person could cause him to feel so many conflicting things. It always started with a fluttering sensation in his chest at her mere presence. Excitement would course through his veins each time she smiled. He would feel content and calm whenever he had her attention.

And then his heart sank, heavy with longing, when he remembered that she would never be his. Warmbloods hated his kind. How it was they were even just friends was a mystery to him. Perhaps she was only taking pity on him after learning everything he had been through. Or perhaps it was genuine, but that in time she would learn that warmbloods and zaterrans just didn't mix.

Ashrah had been visiting Outworld, and as such, Syzoth decided to take time to himself. They strolled the streets of Sun Do together and he watched with soft eyes as she told him all about her training. She spoke of her lessons, her teachers, her fellow students. It was all so mundane, but to Syzoth, it was as melodic as the chirp of Zikandurian crickets on a warm summer's night.

The two stopped in their tracks as a man passed them by. "I hope Outworld is hot enough for you, demon," he remarked with a snicker, his tone arrogant as he continued walking. Ashrah said nothing and only stared after him. Her expression was neutral but her eyes betrayed a sense of sadness.

"Ignore him," Syzoth said in a low voice. He took her hand. "Come, there is a new shop I have been wanting to show you," he urged, not wanting her to dwell on Edenian prejudice. To his surprise, her hand closed around his as she turned to look at him. She gave him a thankful smile and nodded.

Their day together had come and gone and Syzoth walked her toward the portal to Earthrealm. He looked at her with sympathy as she appeared distant for the rest of their day. "Is something troubling you?" he asked.

She gave him an apologetic look and sighed, hesitant. "I suppose it's to be expected that Outworlders won't accept me. But knowing that doesn't make it any less painful," she admitted, her voice a murmur.

It was a pain that Syzoth was all too familiar with. Even now as emissary, he couldn't shake the feeling that Edenians were overwhelmingly cold toward him. But unlike Ashrah, he was used to it. He could only imagine what it felt like from her perspective.

"Easier said than done," he began. "But don't dwell on it." They both stopped as they neared the portal. Syzoth turned to face her. "You belong wherever you want to belong, Ashrah. No one can ever take that away from you."

Ashrah watched him with a light in her eye that almost made Syzoth forget what they had been talking about. He watched as her lips curved into an endeared smile, then as she stepped forward and lifted herself up onto her toes before feeling her lips on the side of his face.

That was what warmbloods call a 'kiss'...wasn't it?

"You always know exactly what to say, Syzoth," she said. Once again, his heart began to flutter in his chest and he was rendered speechless. He watched as her gaze shifted to the side, bashful, as her cheeks grew pink. "Truth be told," she continued, her voice soft. "I've never met anyone who understands me the way that you do."

Syzoth heard his own heart beating against his ribcage and his throat was dry. For a long pause, he couldn't speak, his mind racing as he tried to find the words. "...I...feel the same way about you..." he admitted.

For another long pause, neither of them spoke. They were unable to meet each other's gazes. Ashrah's attention drifted to the side, falling on the portal that waited for her. Her lips thinned and she looked back at him with a kind smile. "I really must be going now," she said, her tone apologetic.

Syzoth nodded. "Yes, of course. I am sure that Liu Kang is waiting for you."

"Take care, Syzoth," she greeted. "I look forward to the next time we see each other."

He watched as she walked away, itching to reach for her hand once more but ultimately deciding against it. A sad sigh escaped him when she was fully across and he turned back to face the palace. He already longed to have her back at his side.

Perhaps there is hope after all...

Skarlet enjoys making you jealous. It gets her blood pumping.

When you ask her why she would want to taste someone else when you’re right here, she just chuckles walks away.

Mileena is, in a sick way, infatuated with your jealousy. But unlike Skarlet, she doesnt fuel it on.

You are very much envious of Tanya and how much she talks about her.

Whenever she brings up Tanya, you completely ignore her and look like you’re grieving the loss of a loved on.

When Mileena finds out you’re ignoring her, she’ll return the favor and ignore you.

It takes her breaking down and telling you why shes so obsessed with Tanya for you two to speak again.

When you find out what Dvorah does, you go ape shii 💀 #bobsbugsbegone

Jade

My beloved Jade❤️ she’s too loyal for you to be jealous.

It turns out youre jealous of her friendship with Kitana and have a distinct hatred towards Kotal.

She doesn’t notice it at first until Kitana points out the dirty looks you give her. When Jade questions you, you simply say “Its just you prefer her over me, your lover”

That BROKE her so from now on, she makes sure to keep you close at all times.

When you ask her if she still had feels for Kotal she laughs at you and tells you how she prefers you over anyone else.
