hiya grace, i was wondering whether you could tell me which percy jackson books are the best to read, theres like... so many of them and i dont think some of them were pjos? but a separate series? anyway it was a little confusing lol- but uh, i think its you whose a fan of them- if not im like so sorry sfdhibwewijfeofn
yes!! okay so definitely read the percy jackson and the olympians series first - this is the first five books that were published, all from percy's pov (the lightning thief, the sea of monsters, the titan's curse, the battle of the labyrinth, & the last olympian)
after that comes the heroes of olympus series which follow some of the same characters as the first series while also bringing in new characters (the lost hero, the son of neptune, the mark of athena, the house of hades, the blood of olympus) the first series is strictly greek mythology while this series pulls in roman mythology as well
the kane chronicles centers around the egyptian gods and makes sense entirely separate from the other two series. this one is a trilogy (the red pyramid, the throne of fire, the serpent's shadow). i will be honest it has been a Long time since i've read any of this series and i do not remember it very well sjdhgsk
(continued under the cut)
there's also a few stand alone side books that aren't necessary to understanding the main story. the demigod files goes along with the first series. i believe there's also a camp-half blood guide (goes along with the first series) and a kane chronicles guide (goes along with tkc obviously) but i can't honestly remember if i've read either of those? there are a few (three, maybe?) short crossover stories with the characters of the first series and the characters of the kane chronicles as well. i believe they're collected in demigods & magicians but i read them individually as they were being released
the next series published was magnus chase (i believe also a trilogy? i have only read part of the first book for this series) this series follows norse mythology and i believe it does include some characters from the original series but mostly focuses on new characters
following that is the trials of apollo which focuses on the greek & roman mythology again, including characters from the first two series. i have not read any of this one ksdhjgsh
and coming soon is a stand alone nico-centric book! nico is in the first two series (+ i believe trials of apollo)
if you want to read everything, i would recommend an order of percy jackson and the olympians -> the kane chronicles & the heroes of olympus (order here doesn't matter) -> magnus chase -> the trials of apollo -> stand alone nico book any of the other side stories mentioned can be read after you read the series they're related to but they're also definitely not necessary
if you only want to read some, the first series is obviously the most important. the kane chronicles can also be read separately of everything else, so you could theoretically read that first also. the heroes of olympus is good, but nowhere near as good as the first series. and i can't really speak for the later series bc i have not read them myself 😅
