to me, "if it sucks, hit the bricks" is not about quitting anything that's hard or challenging or uncomfortable. it's the litany against the sunk-cost fallacy. it's taking a look at what you're doing or where you are and asking yourself honestly: is it gonna be worth it? and if the answer to that question is no, then it's time to fucking bounce. oh, i paid $20 for a ticket to a movie and the movie fucking sucks but there's still an hour left? hit the bricks. the $20 is already gone but that hour of your life isn't.

that's fuckin over
#felt like pullin a tooth#dropped my classes for the semester. had a realization when i almost died in a car accident yesterday#i had been thinking about how this current school im attending is not the one. it's just not the one. im not happy at it#the program is bullshit etc etc#im just gonna work. i dont care about finishing my bachelor's at this moment in time#im a lot more fulfilled working for the public school district than i am going to school. id rather do that full-time#which will hopefully be the thing next year... scary to transition to a whole new job but. geeeeez#if it sucks hit the bricks#tales from diana#this was not as impulsive a decision as it felt like#i knew i wasnt gonna finish my bachelor's at that school bc of the way the degree program was. it didnt align#i felt like i was just fucking around wasting time and money#worst of all i didnt even wanna take either of the two classes i was signed up for lol#i couldnt do it anymore i just really couldnt#ill go back to school when im emotionally dedicated to it

i think instead, or after asking not doing it will lead to negative consequences, you should also ask yourself if it'll have positive consequences... because yeah maybe it won't be bad not to, but it's better if you do it. this doesn't always mean you have to, but it shouldn't be brushed aside
biggest mindfuck is the fact that it can be so so difficult to tell the difference between when it's time for "do it bored/scared/stupid but by jove just do it" and when it's time for "if it sucks hit the bricks"
