favorite thing about them

MAFUYUUUUUUU my favorite guy. i think... well it's hard to pinpoint because he is a VERY well-written character. it disappoints me to see so many prsk fans reduce him to his depression and depict him as this like... perpetually miserable person or that's like alllllllllll they focus on when making content of him and maybe i should save this for the Unpopular Opinion section but whatever. anyway. he's extremely depressed yes but that's not the like, pivotal point of his character. he wants to get better. he wants to live!!!!!!! and it's not so much that he doesn't have any sense of identity; it's more so that the sense of identity he does have was meticulously picked out for him by his parents. all his dreams, wants, needs, hobbies, favorite foods - he never got a say in any of it! and he feels trapped and suffocated under the expectation to be the asahinas' Perfect Daughter for the rest of his life. he wants to escape this, but in order to do so, he has to rebuild his sense of identity and learn to choose for himself again (or...for the first time). this is a monumental undertaking. it's often fruitless and leads to no real results, and it's so, so, so tempting to give up... as we see mafuyu struggle with many times. but ultimately, his character is fueled by a desire to live. deep down, he knows what he wants. he just has to 1. admit it to himself and 2. survive until he gets to that point of being able to shape his life with his own hands. as frequently as we see him fall into despair, he clings fiercely to this one last ray of hope, and he keeps going, and he keeps going, and he keeps going.

he's a strong person! he's a very strong, very brave, very persistent person. he may appear to be like... complacent with his parents' expectations, but he's really, really, really not. he just needs to find his own voice and harness his inherent courage a new way. and like, yeah that's my favorite thing about him. his inherent courage. wanders off

on a serious note i think akito would be a good person for mafuyu to bond with. just considering like, how stubborn and assertive and determined akito is. life has really tried its hardest to throw him off the path he's on, but he's clung to his dreams and ambitions like no one else (well that's not true. see: minori, aka another person that would be good for mafuyu to bond with BUT I DIGRESS). i think he could teach mafuyu that like... you don't have to listen when someone tells you No, Do This Instead. it doesn't matter if they tell you it's wrong or that you would be better off obeying their orders. if it makes you happy... go for it. run after it. your life is your own; leave behind anyone who tries to control and discourage you

unfortunately colorful palette hates me and will continue to torture me by putting them in close proximity to each other but not letting them become actual friends 😊

ugh ok so there's this like...prevailing notion that mafuyu's True Self must be wildly different from the front he puts up at school and with his parents. like he must Really just be a cold distant apathetic kind-of-jerk and aglkdfjnkdfjndfkjn. he's. depressed. the way he lets himself act around nightcord is just him being extremely depressed it is not a reflection of his "real" personality

mafuyu is kind! he is very empathetic and understanding! he's not the world's ultimate goody two shoes, but he is an extremely sweet, lovely, unique person who wants to be helpful and wants the people around him to feel appreciated, listened to, and loved. why do so few people understand this. it's so dark in here god help me
