Just got (painfully) reminded why I don't watch build guides by bigger YouTubers bc I was watching some for Thoma to maybe find some tips and tricks I missed while building him more as a dps and the majority of the comments are just talking shit about his damage for no reason and trying to talk people out of building him that way, calling him trash etc
I don't have a hyper carry but I run a quick swap team where I do everyone's elemental skills which kills everything and then I move on, and Thoma fits into that perfectly. He does about the same damage as everyone else + even more (since he is the only one who has his normal attacks on a decent level ueueue) so it's incredibly annoying to see people say stuff like that? Like he's not meant to do big pp damage in the first place, he's more of a shielder but still, sorry that he's no second Hu Tao I guess (and then everyone would complain too)
"but his damage bad" - he's pretty and nice, that's all I need, thank you, can't say the same thing about you :)
Ahhh yeah I agree--there's a lot of problems going on w/ people trashing on support or skill/burst dps or even auto-based dps (specifically kits that are based on consistent damage rather than big bonk) builds because you don't get that big pp damage >>
But yeah! It's to be expected that Thoma doesn't do as big damage as like Ganyu or Xiao or, y'know, dps characters because that's not the main highlight of his kit but that doesn't mean that Thoma is trash???
Also polearms naturally don't deal as much damage//don't have as wild scaling as like claymore or sword too- but that being said
You can absolutely build Thoma to be a support dps/dps if you want to. Kinda like how you can build dps Diona (she can deal some major damage with her charge) or dps/vampire Barbara (so so good)
But like I have lvl 50 Thoma atm and when I use him w/ my Raiden as his support?? oof so good
I was even joking before how I'm building him as a support (emblem + lots of energy so his q comes up fast, his polearm is the starglitter so it's energy recharge as well + his artifacts are hp%//pyro dmg//crit rate) and he's doing pretty dang well despite being half the level of the enemies I fight nodnod
but yes!!!
On this blog we love all kits because they have different capabilities and also support building characters in ways that aren't the meta!!
