Adding my own here: Take it from a long time shipper, your ship doesn't have to be canon for you to enjoy it. But hatred sent Horikoshis way because he wrote an ending you didn't like, is never ok.

I say this as a heavy Bakudeku shipper and a togachako shipper; I do not mind if izuocha is the chosen ending. I may have my own opinion about its execution, but that is MINE and my responsibility to be respectful to Horikoshi.

Critique is one thing but outright flaming him isn't ok.

As we go into the last TWO chapters (holy shit that's surreal) please please keep your ship close but not so close that you lash out if it is not confirmed.

It's a manga, we are meant to be having fun here.

Regarding the new my hero academia chapter I know we are worried about the way the chapter ended with ochako and midoryiya I need everyone to take a deep breath and to please not jump to conclusions I understand if you have mixed feelings about the chapter it is normal to be worried about the possibility of your ship not becoming canon. I personally am not worried if you need to take a break from the manga do that no one will judge you for it. We honestly need to lower our expectations in case canon does not go the way you want it to. Remember no matter what happens we still have a lot of good canon bakudeku moments in the manga we have our fics and our fanart. No matter what happens we'll be okay. I have been in a lot of fandoms over the years when a ship of mine didn't became canon did I stop shipping them? No I still love them and will continue to do so no matter which way canon goes.

Interesting how even the merch team and Sj itself hasn‘t said a word about the chapter or even tried to promote it, bcs the merch team is still giving us full promotion content for chapter430 it‘s just weird? What was the purpose if they going to pretend the chapter isn’t there

Oh someone sent me this! I mean yeah, I agree, it doesnt make that much sense to add the extras and promote it as something really interesting and special (previously to the release of the volume) just to ignore it in the end. Idk if they'll try to talk about it more in the future, or if they are waiting to see the full reaction and backlash before commenting on it.

But its weird, they keep marketing for Origin Trio and Bkdk Pro Heroes as if fans are just okay with buying cards and acrylic stands when it holds no meaning in the actual work. They have already done this with the movies, most of the were marketed with Shouto, Katsuki and Deku just to make them fight separated or collaborate very briefly, which yeah, makes them get that money without changing the director's vision ig, but this is just misleading.

As a corporation they only care about getting money and while I understand trying to get the fans excited and respect the author's perspective and wishes, 431 doesnt feel like a chapter that came out of love, or care, or actual interest in the characters and their world -it feels forced, all those pages just to get two ppl who used to be friends into a talking stage, as if this pair needed any form of tension or delay in terms of in world canonization -they are a boy and a girl, they are nice friends, their ideals align perfectly, they dont fight, they dont have complexity in terms of what their emotions mean*, they have no emotional buildup, they have no tension, there are no external factors against them or putting them apart

*with this I mean what chapter 431 shows us -if thats how we should interpret it, then it means Izuku really just liked a girl who used to help him a lot in the past even tho he hasn't even tried to reach out to her at all. Them wanting to talk more would be their way of "going against the script" and "follow their selfish desires", but nothing in canon proves this concept -ppl cheer for them anytime they get close physically or embarrassed, it doesnt go against any conflict they have (Izuku doesnt have a problem with "oh im so unloveable I guess love isnt right for guys like me :((((", and Ochako's internal conflict made more sense when framing it in her heroism, but this just makes it look like she just needs to accept she wants to talk to him in order to be "actually free and be herself" after 8 fucking years. Its extremely harmful to portray her this way, as it keeps the message of women never being truly their real self until they inevitably end up talking to a man). In terms of the real world, this also doesnt go against any script -typical shonen is known for the bland forced random hetero romances that pop up at the end, theres absolutely nothing new or rebellious about it. They dont even try to bond with their shared struggles in 431, they just have to talk more and do a bro handshake. Basically, Izuku's emotions are about finding in her a special person bc she helped him a lot 8 years ago and she was emotional over a villain, as he doesnt try to connect emotionally with her nor explain why she would be this special person in comparison to the rest in 431 and thats the information we have, and Ochako's are about her repressing her "real love" for him because... I guess she feels she would be selfish if she asked to hang out more with him? And her feelings haven't changed bc I guess he is just that unique and special mainly with that hero suit.

This makes her look like she learnt nothing, like shes not allowed to actually start developing outside of the insecure high school girl she was until she accepts she wants a date with Deku, even tho she already admitted those feelings to Himiko. The lesson is Ochako, the main female character of the show, can grow up only if she tries to get closer with a man. And Izuku can only start self reflecting and exploring who he is outside of Hero Deku when he reach out to a woman (who btw, enforces that side of him, according to what we have seen in the past).

when i started shipping: 

bkdk - since s1, especially after their fight at ground beta! definitely after kacchan v deku 2! 

kirideku - hmm this isnt one i shipped while watching/reading bnha, but found out about the rarepair online maybe a couple months ago?

krbk - i thought they were cute as a brotp in s1, but i saw people online shipping them alot (before i read the manga). i liked em, and really liked their friendship in s2! the kiribaku in my heart LAUNCHED after i read the rescue arc though!

kiritodo - idk much about em? i normally ship them in poly ships like kiribakutodo! i wont include them in the rest bc i actually am not too sure about them

my thoughts:

bkdk - controversial ship but i like them! they have so many complicated feelings about each other in canon and theyre true rivals. they mirror + parallel each other pretty well, and grow with each other!

kirideku - theyre cute! i dont actually remember many of their interactions but i theyre both SUNSHINES who deserve the world and more!!

krbk - UGH WE LOVE CANON KINGS! hori puts so many implications about them.. im shaking. their relationship is the most amazing thing in the entire show

what makes me happy:  

bkdk - their healing relationship! they started really horribly, but as they grow older, they mature and learn to accept each other!

kirideku - all their cute interactions and fanon! theyre uber fluffy and sweet

krbk - a long list.. them saving each other so many times… kiri literally saved bakugou’s LIFE twice (rescue arc, bnha movie) and he didnt hesitate to do so! BAKUGOUS WORDS being what motivates kirishima, and helps him survive and win a mission? BAKUGOU REASSURING KIRI THAT HES A GOOD HERO? them fighting together in the USJ attack? just all their interactions aare so good??? the way they unconditionally and so obviously love + care about each other!

what makes me sad:

bkdk - how controversial the ship is.. i agree they make not have the healthiest relationship since they have so many complicated feelings, but their relationship is mending and maturing!

krdk and krbk - n/a

things done in fanfic that annoys me:

bkdk - anything with toxicity or unhealthy relationships.. bakugou being too mean or arrogant, deku being a doormat

kirideku - i dont read kirideku owo

krbk - their characterization is generally really good but when they treat bakugou as horrible mean character that kirishima has to “fix” 😷

things i look for in a fanfic:

bkdk - future fics! them being top heroes together, after they mature and get over their feelings. hurt/comfort is huge with them, and anything to do with them and how they know each other so well since childhood.

kirideku - n/a

krbk - honestly i read basically all kiribaku!! i love canon compliant ones, and hurt/comfort + trauma after the rescue arc! them building each other up, being an unexpected but totally obvious ship to the rest of 1A!

who i’d be comfortable then ending up with, if not each other: kiribaku is my otp of all otps, but here are my other ship for em all

deku - tododeku, dekuiida, izuocha, shindeku, alot of people tbh

kirishima - kirikami, kirisero, kirimina, kiritetsu

bakugou - todobaku, bakukami, bakusero, bakumina, bakucamie, and like every bakugou ship

my happily ever after for them:

bkdk - being the #1 pro heroes together, power couple of the century

kirideku - uh no idea?? i see them being really popular with kids! theyd be good teachers at UA together

krbk - heroes together, they open a hero agency together, they adopt kids and are super domestic. they never lose their spark and theyre always the ultimate partnership.

big spoon / little spoon:

bkdk - little spoon deku big spoon baku

kirideku - little spoon deku big spoon kiri

krbk - switch! but mainly little spoon baku n big spoon kiri

favourite non-sexual activity:

bkdk - theyve known each other so long, they love slow casual domestic stuff. cute things they missed in their childhood + while being teens because they were too busy having a rivalry and stuff

kirideku - no idea

krbk - ughhhhh they love doing everything together :( but they like hiking together and studying together (kiri doesnt like studying though, he just likes spending time with bakugou)
