no literally Marshall & Lily get bunched in as the couple that’s 2 peas in a pod “love at first sight” or like “perfect couple” but they’re actually a lot more complicated than that

they had their ups & downs Lily literally left for a summer & it was complicated & messy & if you hate one of them for their temporary breakup you’re an idiot who’s missing the point

the point is that they had their differences & they worked through them

their relationship was complicated & messy at times but always loving & they never gave up on each other & they always treated their life as a partnership

that’s why they ultimately became the healthiest happiest couple in sit com history pretty much because they were REAL. they loved each other & they cared enough to work through the tough stuff & the show actually showed that

that’s why himym is so memorable despite its shit ending the characters & their journies were so real in so many ways
