The Young Man:

I thought I was alone in the manor only to find another reading the diaries. He jumped when I cleared my throat and turned, blinding me with the light from his helmet.

The light looked to be far more modern than what is used by today's standards and it easily obscured the man's features.

"What are you doing here?" Was all I could ask.

"I could ask you the same!" His accent wasn't from around here. There was a drawl to it. American? From what I could tell he was young with dark hair and he was ready for a fight given his body language. I have to de-escalate.

"Look I'm just here investigating a missing girl. I'm a private detective."

"Missing girl eh? I've heard rumors this place swallows people up like a hungry beast. Still how do I know you're not pullin' my leg? You ain't some squatter, right?"

My turn...

"Well what about you? What exactly are you doing here? You look like you're here to loot what valuables are left here."

"I don't take kindly to that type of accusation, Detective. If you must know, I'm an Archeologist and here for my own kind of investigation."

Archeologist?

"What could an Archeologist possibly be investigating in an old manor?"

He huffed.

"A lot of people say that this manor is cursed. I'm not necessarily one to believe in supernatural curses; usually when a place is said to be cursed, it's a warning about what natural dangers are encountered there; venomous reptiles or insects, hazardous environments or just a way to scare looters off. But here...there might be something to that."

He pulls something out of his pocket; a photograph of a strange symbol etched into the wall of a room.

"See here? Before the basement was turned into...that...it used to be a darkroom for developing photographs. The Manor's owner at the time of this was a man named Joseph Desaulniers and from what I understand, he was obsessed with capturing souls in photographs and dabbled in occult means to do so. There were symbols like these etched into the walls of the basement and in various locations around the manor grounds."

These symbols...they were familiar but I couldn't place them to any known ancient civilization. I hand back the photos to the Archeologist.

"These symbols...where are they from?"

"From what I've discovered they're from a time before the Romans but there's so little left I've been tracking what little leads I could find about them..." The pause is palpable, I feel as though the sense of dread about the manor has only grown stronger.

"Remember how I said this manor is like a hungry beast? I've managed to decode some of the symbols. They point to a ritual that grants good fortune to those who invoke it. The thing is a constant stream of fresh blood is needed..."

"Fresh blood...you mean like..."

"Yeah...sacrifice."

My idv ocs have like no abilities at all they’re made for story purproses only like every time I have to sit down and think about abilities im like HUH also aside from my idv au ocs (idvi) I actually have real idv ocs theres supposedly 15 of them but some are just planned and dont have a solid idea yet but my idv ocs are mostly in groups cause I dont like meddling with existing lore I dont understand too much,,,

While the world reeled from the economic crash, eyes turned to news about ancient ruins discovered under the land of the supposedly cursed Oletus Manor.

Archeologist Johnathan "Carter" was assigned to the excavation, but as time went on, Johnathan found himself plagued by dreams intertwined with memories he thought were forever lost.

As a boy, he and his parents had come to England to visit only to vanish for nearly a year. Young Johnny was later found wandering on the side of a country road in a complete haze. Despite authorities best efforts, the child could not recall what had happened to him and his parents during their time missing. He would be taken in by his Godmother and grew up otherwise healthy, traveling between England and America for most of his Education.

Since the dreams, Johnathan has sought help in the form of Hypno-Therapy to travel back and attempt to unlock the mystery of his parents and the missing year.

Meeting the Baron:

I met the current Baron of Oletus Manor today.

I would like to emphasize that I love my Aunt Mel, she's a treasure and she's probably one of the most normal people I know and even then, she has her quirks.

Still what is it about being wealthy that makes one act so...odd? Superstitious and paranoid, I saw it in Roger when he was in the department.

The current Baron was a tall man with white hair and disconcertingly pale skin from what little I could see. He otherwise wore heavy winter clothes in the middle of a warm summer day. He referred to himself as Baron Lorenz...why does that name sound familiar? He also had a notable Lichtenberg Scar I could see on his face.

Baron Lorenz was interested in some of my work about decoding old hieroglyphs and more esoteric subjects and symbols.

I can't quite explain but, Baron Lorenz's presence was...domineering. He spoke politely and respectably as if one colleague to another but it felt as though he was watching my every move and probing for specific answers.

He was especially interested in a book I've been studying lately; the Kitab al-Azif.

I didn't have many answers to his questions as I've barely made much progress with the book myself, but something about his probing made me more reluctant to say anything.

He left while handing me a letter of a job opportunity and the seal of Oletus.

I need to speak to Aunt Martha; this all feels too much like what happened before. I should make sure Orpheus is safe and ask if security at the institute could keep a close eye on him and warn Aunt Melly.

Maybe it's time to find a new apartment too.

(Alright I think I've worked out his kit) Once in a dream;

The Archeologist holds a watch similar to one his mother owned but gifted to him through stranger means.

Active Traits:

As he's learned to decipher hieroglyphics the Archeologist starts with a decoding boost at 5% faster than other survivors.

Reflections of the Past: The "watch" lets the Archeologist see past remnants of other survivors decoding a cipher. Decoding those ciphers will give the Archeologist a speed boost depending how long it had been since the other survivor had been there. The boost varies from 10% to 15% to 25%. The longer it had been since decoding started, the lower the speed boost.

The remnants will fade completely after 60 seconds.

Time Jump: When trying to escape a hunter, the Archeologist can use the watch to jump forward a few seconds to put distance between himself and the Hunter. (It's essentially the survivor version of Blink). When holding down the button, the Archeologist can jump to 4.0 meters at the farthest.

Time Jump has a cool down of 90 seconds and can only be used three times in game before it becomes too much for the Archeologist to handle.

Double Vision: Time Jump affects the Archeologist's sense of perception. His mind is pulled at two different points in time causing his terror radius to activate at random intervals with the time between each interval being reduced with each use, 30/15/10, rendering it difficult to detect the Hunter properly.

The anon asked really had me thinking about this version of Johnny's story which is inspired by Little Goody Two Shoes; especially the part where the guests are the Golden Maidens or I guess Golden Residents.

In the game Little Goody Two Shoes, Elise encounters the Golden Maidens on her journey to have her wish come true. The Golden Maidens either try to cryptically warn Elise or are rather excited for her to join them. An encounter with each Maiden except for one in particular, drains Elise's sanity.

The same can be said the for each of the residents now that they're trapped in the domain of the manor.
