Two things about The Heart Killer I did not expect to be the way they are.

a) Bison being the one to fear the most b) Fadel being the only one most likely to actually fall in love at this point.

Let's elaborate.

Bison being played by Khao is already a babygirl factor but for him to be the one to be feared the most out of him and Fadel is not something I expected after episode 1. I fully thought Fadel was the more darker and badass but boy is just closed off in fear of getting hurt again. Like Fadel now seems to be the most likely to be the most traumatised. He was the one telling Bison off for getting with Kant. He's the one saying that they need nobody, that they have their life decided, that they shouldn't be weak or fall in love. Yet he's the one most likely to fall into that rabbit hole.

Kant's motive is his criminal record and the fact that he's working for the Captain. Kant knows he's already in trouble with the unofficial threats that Bison has thrown his way. Saying things like "You won't get burgers anymore but you also will be turned into burgers" or "i gave you my heart, take good care of it", the way he talks about what if people break their trust and every time Kant looks intimidated and a bit scared but tries to play it off. Same with the whole d/s bdsm part that we got. Didn't expect Kant to be that scared and intimidated of the whole thought of Bison being so dark at random times.

I feel like Kant has to fear Bison more than Fadel but if they find out they will both most likely fuck him up anyway so boy is in deep shit right here.

Another thing about Bison I'm not 100% sure of but hope it will be the case is that he turned the tables on Kant. Kant being there trying to get with Bison for information while most likely falling in love eventually, Fadel telling Bison about Kant and his past and Bison being all curious and suspecting now had me think that he turned the table without Kant knowing. However, after the thing with his brother and how he told Fadel that Kant isn't what he used to be anymore had me questioning it a bit but I still hope the tables have turned.

Style, out of the four, is the only innocent person here who didn't even know what he got himself into when he agreed to get Fadel off KantBison's back. Now that he knows Fadel is a hitman his assholery and annoying acting has suddenly changed and he's now more scared than anything and I feel bad for him. Kant just out here dragging his bestie into this shithole.

I will feel bad for Fadel and Bison once they find out about everything but I will more feel bad for Fadel because in theory he only looked into Kant's background and warned Bison. Since Style doesn't have a background that is to look into he doesn't probably connect the dots that Style is just here helping Kant. Bison is more suspect of Kant and Fadel is suspect of Kant but neither have negative thoughts about Style. So once Fadel finds out that Style was just toying with him it's gonna be bad. Style has a lot of guts toying with a guy who already used a gun on him. I already thought that before he found out that he's a hitman but now that he actually knows he mellowed down so much. Idk if it will be sus for Fadel when Style suddenly isn't so annoying anymore or if he just takes it as them being together now and that Style stopped being annoying for the relationship sake.

So Fadel is definitely the first one to fall in love (which is funny given everything he said) and I'm curious to see who's next. I feel like Bison most likely is falling but if he turned the tables it might all be an act as well. I like that with him you don't know what he really feels. Does he know? Is he just playing? Is he actually in love? In my eyes he's more mysterious than Fadel at this point which is in fact the most interesting part about this whole thing. They're like the epitome of "Don't judge a book by it's cover". Because looking at them at first you thought one way when in reality it's the other way around.

a fantastic episode yesterday, and… a SKINNER episode today?!?! what kind of journey are we in for?!!!

LITTLE DID I KNOW!!! for i simply had no idea that a skinner episode is EXACTLY what i needed!!! it is the thing i did not order but that hit the spot precisely!!! it was a thing i couldn’t predict!!!

but who would have thought it? a glimpse into the life of such a secretive man… and a beautiful one, at that!! wow!! i’m emotional over WALTER SKINNER! how unexpected, but also inevitable….

let us begin this journey, which went in so many directions

let us read this episode description. skinner, a murderer…. hmm. it’s not really adding up to me... in this context, at least. has he killed people? yes, definitely. but a random person? seems sloppy. seems weird. seems that someone is framing him…

this is not how i expected the episode to start!

oh, he won’t sign the papers. he says he’ll do it tomorrow. skinner is SAD :( he’s putting his coat on and leaving!!!!! he does not want to get divorced it seems.

wait, an emotional skinner like two minutes in……. woah. we’re in for a rollercoaster here, i can tell (author's note: op was correct)

noooo, sad skinner at a bar. someone sits next to him. this woman is pretty and sits next to him to escape a guy who wouldn’t stop talking to her. a gentleman!

she asks if being alone bothers him and OH! cutscene to sex. well. this escalated quickly. 

PAUSE. is this the first sex scene in this show??? and it’s SKINNER??? if you would have told me that fact a few months ago when i started this show, i would have laughed at you…

omg yeah... i think it is the first on-camera sex scene in this show?? in the past there hasn’t been much (thinking of 3, which is an episode i purposely choose to forget except for right now, and i am ONLY thinking of it to remember how the precedent was established) and they just cut to waking up the next morning. but no, not here. here we get the full show.

OH! so it was NOT poison that killed her, and actually her neck was broken. so i guess i didn’t see that. which is probably good because i would have gagged.

this detective is being a jerk to mulder. saying that skinner is suspicious for not taking a lie detector test as if a lie detector test can prove a damn thing (hint: it cannot!) but mulder still gives him his card so they can call and chat

LMAOOOO he was on the phone with scully for all of that exchange with the detective, and she is STILL just trying to get through what looks like a hurricane!!! but she is on her way!!!! he says let’s go look at the body 

still at the crime scene, mulder sees the body’s outline and sighs deeply, realizing his colleague is in trouble

scully is narrating the autopsy into her little voice recorder thing, and it always makes me think she’s vlogging, but i digress. she says the victim’s spine was crushed, and only skinner’s prints were on the body.

mulder makes a stupid remark about “at least they were having safe sex” because really, what DO you say when your boss is a murder suspect, and the body is right in front of you? well! many of us will never have to answer this question. funny how he needs to have a Quip to cope, though. don't think i haven't noticed.

her name was carina, and she was a legal secretary who was fired for working as an escort. they truly hate to see a woman get her side hustle on.

scully looks so sad and confused at all of this, but turns the light out and the body’s face is glowing in the dark around the mouth!!! so she pulls out her recorder and makes note of that. it’s like if you split the juice in a glow stick on there. so maybe there WAS poison afoot?!

(author's note: literally no poison at all in this ep idk i was just really convinced there would be... it is important i also include my predictions that flop so you know i have journalistic integrity)

mulder and scully at someone’s door. the person who answers says lorraine is busy, and he says “busy or not, we need to speak with her” and barges in and AGAIN. the way these two just enter a room so forcefully always makes me lose my mind. someone please make a youtube complication of this someday. they are NOT vampires they do not need to be invited in 😭

lorraine, the head of the escort agency, wants to do their questioning later and they break the news carina is dead. she does not want to tell them who hired her, for it goes against their practice. but mulder is ANGRY and gets her to confess that it was, in fact, skinner.

the agents are walking out, asking what was he thinking, and i am wondering the same thing!! she says they can’t ignore the evidence, but mulder is refusing to believe that skinner could be responsible. oh mulder, your faith in those you love really is admirable.

she brings up that they really don’t know much about skinner, but he says that we know he’s risked a lot for us, and that they owe it to him to find the truth. another case of both things being true, which happens often with these two.

oooo this is juicy, i’m INVESTED!!!

conveniently timed cell phone call! skinner has been released. mulder runs to go get him and skinner says it doesn’t concern him, but mulder says of course it does, and damn, i’m just now realizing how attached to skinner mulder must be, how he sounds like a scared little kid hoping against hope he’s innocent, because the people you love can’t do bad things, right? AUGHHHHH how mulder must look for safety in all the places he didn’t get it growing up. i’m gonna be sick. of course it concerns us! <- yeah. making note to analyze this in depth later because it felt like piercing me through the heart.

skinner is gagged by their revelation that carina was a sex worker, which means something is afoot here, because he was supposed to be the one that hired her...

but when he looks behind them, he sees that creepy old woman again!!! omg i had forgotten about her!!!! she’s in a bright red rain jacket. 

and he runs into traffic after her (he does get hit by a car but it's the least of his worries) but when he goes to get her… it’s someone else?? with brown hair and blue eyes and not a creepy old lady at all. it’s his WIFE!!!!! WIFE REVEAL!!!!! 🎊

so the agents and sharon skinner are chatting. scully wants to know if he’s always been so private. “he lives under this misguided notion that silence is strength” is what his wife has to say, which is both poignant and read him for filth, sharon. so that is why they separated, and have been for about 8 months.

oh! mulder was one of the few people skinner ever mentioned from work!!! she knows he respects him, so she asks him if he really killed that woman. mulder says he doesn’t think skinner did it, but they have to go now. 

some guy named special agent bonnecaze is at skinner’s desk. and the agents are wanted at a hearing for skinner’s ability to keep his job!!! this bonnecaze says they’re not allowed to go sleuthing about. mulder is very very angry.

(what separates a special agent from a regular agent? this is probably a simple internet search, but isn't it more fun to post your thoughts? google says pretty much everyone at the federal level involved in crime investigation is a special agent. so if they're ALL special agents it can't be that special)

back to the office, where mulder is chomping on his pen, and skinner won’t answer his phone. scully notes that he is “doing everything he shouldn’t be doing” which is probably on purpose, RIGHT?? RIGHT?!

and scully looks so beautiful…. she’s concerned about skinner's state of mind, and what else he might be capable of. mulder seems frustrated that she would suspect him, but she explains that genuinely she IS giving him the benefit of the doubt, in the sort of tone you use when you are deeply apologizing to someone, hand on her chest. she can clearly see how attached mulder is to this whole situation. an empath...

scully thinks that maybe something else is going on… she’s playing a video of a man who had REM sleep behavior disorder and relived getting hit by a train each night until he broke his wife’s arm. she is in doctor mode talking about sleep related stuff. and the clinic that film came from WAS WHERE SKINNER HAD BEEN RECEIVING TREATMENT FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS!!! gasp!! for the same condition!

so he sees an old woman attacking him in his sleep, and maybe he had attacked carina thinking it was her. scully is playing with her necklace as this theory is proposed.

mulder is like, yes i have heard of something like this, a succubus. and he puts his pen in his mouth and grabs a big book off the shelf!!! wow i love that he has a book mentioning medieval spirits in his office :,) maybe need to get one of those for mine.

oh! and his book claims there can be residue left behind… like the stuff she found… scully is pulling a "mulder, you're never gonna believe this" mentally

back to the body. but now her mouth isn’t glowing in the dark! but she had taken a sample… and when sent to the lab for analysis, they found nothing!!!

mulder asks if she is SURE she saw something, and she is like yeah i wouldn’t make that up?? so new theory: skinner is running from all of this because he’s afraid.

skinner is sipping something strong and someone knocks at his door. it’s sharon in a big red raincoat! he didn’t get her calls because he unplugged his phone……. says he hasn't been sleeping....

this must be where he lives now since they separated, but he hasn’t unpacked at all. she wants to make sure he’s okay! but he’s pulling the you’re my ex card. and she says, well i only initiated the divorce because YOU were too scared to do it yourself, and he says “fair enough” <- OOOOO again sharon read him for filth. still, i do not enjoy seeing him so sad.

she wants him to let his walls down, but she knows he will never let her comfort him. so she says to take care of himself and leaves :(

he pulls out their wedding day photo and AWW they’re so young :(((((

AND HE FALLS ASLEEP HOLDING IT. STOP, AM I GOING TO CRY OVER A MAN NAMED WALTER?????????

sleepy time interrupted by screaming. it’s the old lady in the red rain coat just absolutely letting it out, and then she leaves. but there is a REAL knock at the door, and it’s the detective!!!

NO! he says sharon was in an accident!! WHAT IS GOING ON??? skinner’s terrified… and they want the keys to his car…. HE WAS SLEEPING ON THE COUCH!!! HE DID NOT DO THAT SHIT!!!

so he is at the police station and mulder is also here, reporting that sharon is in surgery. but he says they’re building a case against him!!!

mulder clarifies he doesn’t think that skinner did it, but scully doesn’t understand why he isn’t trying to defend himself. and mulder’s doing the angry man thing where he puts his hands on his hips and pushes his jacket back and hnhbbbbhmmmmmmppllhghgh

nooooo skinner :( he’s so angry :( he doesn’t know what is going on or what to believe :(

so mulder asks about the old woman- which they know about from reading his files- and yells that if he doesn’t start trusting someone, he doesn’t stand a chance. whew! he has had enough of this silence!!!

(oh my phone is gonna die hold on. break to procure a charger. charger secured. CHARGER ISN’T WORKING?? omg… now it is… crisis averted)

so skinner started seeing her “again” a few months ago… he’s talking about what happened to him in vietnam, how he was a sole survivor of an ambush. he says he got through the experience by numbing himself with whatever he could, and he “inhaled”, so he assumed she was another hallucination. and she watched him watch himself die, but she carried him back away from the light. 

mulder proposes she was trying to protect him them and still is now. but he doesn’t know from what!! he is so sad!!

GASP!!! CUTSCENE TO CANCER MAN WATCHING THIS ALL GO DOWN?????

ANOTHER EVIL CIG MAN PLOT?!?!?

so skinner’s car matches the damage on sharon’s car, and allegedly the hood of his car was still warm when the detectives got to his house and brought him in for questioning. mulder asks for a flashlight and gets in the car despite the hearing being in a half hour. oh! he’s slicing out the air bag?

bringing the air bag to the lab guy, who can turn the air bag into a facial pattern of whoever it crashed into. is this a thing that can happen??? big if true.

scully at the hearing. mulder not there!! so they just begin.

she’s trying to explain the mouth glow situation, and special agent bonnecaze basically accuses her of hiding stuff; she says she’s reluctant to speak for mulder, but he thought it came from a “visitation”. she has no other explanation! 

(wow, i love that she admits she has no idea here. you can tell who is intelligent by seeing who is willing to admit to not having all of the answers. it's a small thing but it says a lot about her character <3)

they ask her if she believes in paranormal phenomena, and she dodges the question by saying she views everything “through the lens of science”. a measured response. but they’re asking if skinner has become “enchanted by agent mulder’s notions” HUH?? what da hell does that mean? anyway, she says no. 

bonnecaze accuses her of protecting skinner by exaggerating the unexplained elements of the case, which she ENTIRELY refutes. and when she tries to say that she is NOT finished, they say she is. OHHH the bastards. 

scully calls mulder but he’s right behind her lololol. anyway, it’s no laughing matter that skinner is OUT OF A JOB. she says he would have had a better chance against a firing squad. and they used the x files to justify getting rid of him!! he thinks "they’re" doing it to hurt the x files, whoever they may be!!! (presumably cig man and his UN alien club??)

so mulder has a graph that looks like pixel art of whoever stole skinner's car that night and his sharon. "they" couldn’t try to kill him again, so a set up would be less obvious. it makes sense.

i think the lab guy’s name is danny?? well they can’t figure out who thief is, who must have also been the fellow who hired carina. 

oh no! now they’re at the scene of another crime. it’s the lady who runs the escort agency! she jumped off a building :( or it was staged to look like that

but they see the woman who answered the door when they visited her place of work!!! her name is judy. and she says that the pixel art man who hired carina said no one would get hurt!!!! so this dude stole skinner’s card!!! 

(is it krycek. i can’t stand him any longer!)

due to lorraine being dead, she can’t talk with this mystery client, so they ask judy to set up a meeting with him, to pretend she needs money to get out of town. she calls some unnamed men on the phone to arrange this meeting.

and the men on the phone are not krycek, but they ARE watching this all go down from their car!!!!!! WHO ARE THESE FREAKS!!!!

skinner is going to see sharon. and she can’t hear him but he’s telling her he’s not signing the divorce papers :( he says he can’t tell her the terrible things he has seen…. and that she was what got him through each day, knowing he had a reason to wake up :( NOOOOO

and as he smooches her forehead her monitor starts going off!!!!!!! but then he sees her turn into the scary old woman!!!!!! who looks out at him and beckons. so he goes back in and grabs the hand of the old woman but it’s actually his wife again!!!!!!! she says to listen to her. WHAT IS IT!!! what does she KNOW!!!

mulder at the bar where they planned the set up. sipping something and looking good, yeah yeah. the men who set this whole thing up are arriving. 

while scully and judy are upstairs and oh my god scully. she is so beautiful. both of these bastards are so utterly beautiful. 

sighs wistfully…….

well, whoever it is they’re waiting on isn’t showing up. but there’s a movement at the door! and she says mulder, get up here right now!!!

scully with her gun out in the hotel room……. the suspense…….. she finds judy in the bathroom but SOMEONE ELSE IS BEHIND HER!!!

it’s the guy from before, who was on the phone with judy!! and he’s firing his gun!! scully is on the ground but she seems unhurt beyond the head slamming??

WAIT! it isn’t that scary phone guy who fired his gun!! it was SKINNER!!! who shot whoever set this whole operation up!!!

SKINNER TELEPORTATION TO THE SCENE....

judy is crying and scully is on the floor still, but it seems all is well in the world?

back to skinner’s office!!! which is rightfully his office again!!!

they bring him the report on the case, and there are lots of unanswered questions, including who that dude who was shot was. there is no identity whatsoever.

OH! mulder points out that there is no explanation as to why skinner was at the hotel last night, so please fill out that line yourself. which he says he can’t do, because it has no place in a report.

so mulder asks skinner to tell him what happened, off the record, and scully is waiting with bated breath… and he says he has some catching up to do. mulder kind of looks like someone just kicked him but he walks away :(

(oh mulder, funny how you're trying to get him to break these walls down, but you have some pretty damn solid walls of your own. now you know how it must feel... i jest, but it is so sad to see him unable to connect to skinner in the way he wants to. nevertheless, this is a happy ending)

skinner puts his wedding ring back on!!! and gets back to work!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT!!!!!!! 

omg. so much to unpack here. i kind of assumed we would never get any skinner lore beyond his vietnam story, so this was a deeply welcome surprise. earlier i was very suspicious of him- you may recall some posts where i repeatedly say things along the lines of "i don't trust this guy"- but you can see how the narrative is shifting, how now we are supposed to trust him after he has done so much for scully and mulder. and it is very interesting to see how he operates, how he tries to put on that strong facade, and how it needs to crumble for him to move forward.

so, i think that there are two things at play here: one, someone who was trying to frame skinner for the murder and the attempted killing of his wife, and two, the whole situation with the scary old lady. we know the scary old lady was the one he saw in vietnam, and the one he attributes to saving his life, so it makes sense to think that some sort of guardian angel spirit would show up to him as an attempt to make him realize that he was losing what really mattered to him (sharon) due to his own fear. so even though she is scary looking, she led him to sharon, and appeared when he was with another woman as if to scare sense into him.

now, what is LESS clear is who did the killing! we know his prints were found on her, but did they check everything? how does that even work? maybe he strangled her in his sleep on accident, but given that someone else paid her to be there that evening, it would make more sense that someone else did it, no? except they said there was no sign of any intruders... so perhaps whoever it was who set that whole scenario up knew enough about him to know that was a possibility. in that case, they must have access to his medical records and know about his visions.....

must be the work of the cig man and his cronies.

so, if you accidentally kill someone in your sleep... how do you proceed from there?

well, i guess it doesn't matter, because he got his job back.

interesting to explore the concept of a guardian angel sort of creature as a being of terror, to shock you out of the mistakes you make that ruin your life. and it doesn't explain the glowy mouth or succubus allegations, but hey, there's always some stuff that doesn't entirely add up!

overall, i thought this was a really great episode. it was very different from the last one, but the tone shift didn't feel drastic and uncomfortable. i'm really interested in how mulder handled this whole thing, how he clearly has these projections for what he wants skinner to be and how he wants him to act, as if he's idolizing him. i think that is very fascinating and i will be mentally chewing on that for a while. and scully being willing to admit what she does not know, and observe what she cannot explain... mmm, it's just delicious to me.

i, in a moment of weakness, unblocked one of the major rpf bloggers just to see how they would turn the sweet, loving smiles and pictures of the olivier awards into some intricate web of secret relationships and abusive partners, and i was not disappointed.

i think the months during which tumblr was flooding my dash with an endless stream of these posts (despite my attempts at blocking) had desensitised me to all of the genuinely awful things that get posted. i thought it was weird and gross, but i’d lost sight of just how completely tinfoil hat insane it is.

case and point:

that is not what this looks like to any reasonable person. what it does look like is a conversation between them, during which georgia signals (with some urgency) that another person is trying to make it through behind them. she gestures that they need to move, and david notices. anna, facing the aisle, sees this person clearly, and tries to guide michael out of their way. michael, not quite sure where the person is, backs up first, before realising that he blocked their way more.

there. what the rpf people seem to think is michael’s agitation really only looks like he’s trying to move out of someone’s way, without being able to see them, while in the middle of a conversation. i do that head-to-one-side-then-to-the-other move whenever i’m in that situation. idk how they got “recoiling” from anna. georgia is clearly pointing to people, not desperately flapping around to get david’s attention.

i’ve watched this video several times. to form my initial opinion, to screen record, and to clip the recording. i looked out for specific instances the rpf blog mentioned, including a barely there “slap” of georgia’s hand in the first fraction of a second of the video, and i see nothing but perfectly normal body language for people standing in an aisle in a crowded room. you can quite literally see her hand formed into a pointing position, with one finger towards the group and another directing towards the isle. like it’s literally right there in the video, she’s pointing.

am i genuinely losing my ability to read people??because they look fine. not like they’re the most comfortable and free they’ve ever been, but they are at a crowded, televised awards show and they probably have limited time to take photos. ughhggg

then, this:

for the first screenshot, there’s a third distinct possibility: she’s poking fun at him. do these people really not understand banter in a relationship?? i would happily post about my loved ones or see them post about me with a “don’t encourage them” joke. playful annoyance and insults are super healthy, and from the way david sticks to his point in the video from georgia’s story, i’d guess he’s responding in a “watch me” way. as long as no one feels undervalued, which david’s firing back would suggest he doesn’t, it’s fine.

for the second: i cannot even imagine what would possess someone to edit a happy photo of a husband and wife, remove the wife, and edit in someone else. it has the same vibe of obsessed teenagers sticking cutouts of their own faces over photos of band members. especially with the blog’s caption, it feels like they’re implying that georgia is an annoyance or dead weight in david’s public life. she’s his wife, she deserves to be with him publicly whenever they want.

at the very least, find some real pictures of david and michael together to use as fuel for this dumpster fire.

the aforementioned rpf blog that i unblocked has spoken many times about how she’s autistic and can have trouble interpreting nonverbal cues. i can’t help but wonder if these analysis posts are, to some extent, an overcompensation, overlooking the simple explanation in favour of something complex. or maybe these people don’t have a good frame of reference for normal relationships, or they’ve spent so much time in an online echo chamber, originally spurned by some tiny notion, that they’ve forgotten how real people interact.

i’m neurodivergent myself (though not the more commonly recognised autism or adhd; i have other conditions that fall under neurodivergence). the result is that i’m hyper vigilant and often paranoid. in middle school, people would call me sherlock because i’d notice things that let me predict behaviour or work out the details of a person’s recent activities by looking at them. i’ve always found it very easy to read people and situations, and, from experience, i’m almost always right. i’ve never tried to do this, it just kind of happens subconsciously, and has for all my life. i generally don’t talk about these observations because i’ve creeped people out more than a few times by offering pens before they’ve realised they’ve lost theirs or dodging objects while facing another direction. but here i feel my observations can hold value coming from someone who has no trouble interpreting social interactions and with high situational awareness.

i really am just baffled by the insanity of all of this. “reaching” and “doing too much” come to mind. if david and georgia and anna and michael wanted us to know or say something, they would tell us. explicitly. if they really wanted people to think something, they would actually portray themselves that way, and not in a secret, can’t-hide-their-true-feelings way.

i’ve sighed so many times while writing this.

i’m actually quite proud of myself for going this long without unblocking them; when i see something i consider to be a batshit train wreck, i find it very hard to look away and i’ve gotten sucked into hate-reading many things in the past. not that i hate these blogs (although i do find their behaviour unacceptable and very confusing), but that’s the best descriptor i could come up with lol

anyways, all i really want is for the four of them to be happy and free from the amateur tmz reporters. ideally, this stuff will never reach them or have any impact on their lives, but it could, and that’s the most concerning thing to me. even if they are unhappy, i can’t imagine that seeing strangers saying that their misery is so obvious would be any less than horrible.

such brazen speculation is disrespectful to them, their privacy, and their agency to make good personal choices and share information responsibly. if they don’t tell us, they don’t want us to know, and it’s really as simple as that.

First some throné ones because i have throné on the brain.

first off i think after her story is over she never wears a necklace like basically ever again. she does love dressing up, feeling cute, but no matter how well a necklace would go with her outfit she won’t add one. it’s just part of her newfound freedom that she can choose never to have anything around her neck like that ever again. all other jewelry tho… she’s got a lot of options to pick from for earrings, bracelets, and rings etc (that she’s most certainly not paid for)

also, i feel like Hikari and Throné, after everything with vide coming to the conclusion that they are actually distantly related to each other, have some kind of exchange where it’s like. “ok wait so im your like great great how many greats aunt or something” uhhh like a couple times removed or whatever. and at first its like weird to think about but they both have such like. idk. throne found out that her family was actually huge and extensive, and all of them were killing each other. her biological father is a monster. she was born to be a monster herself. her relationship with the concept of “family” is extremely strange; the man she considered closest to her actual father was a horribly abusive person but despite all that she was the closest thing he had, and he was her half-brother. Hikari’s family has a curse upon it directly related to being descended from D’arquest, and it’s been nothing but pain for him as well, causing him to lose control of himself, constantly worried he’ll hurt the people he cares about. his brother was a monster in a whole different way, and his dad, while appointing him rightful successor, spent most of his life as a warmonger as well. His mother is dead. his brother and father are dead. he’s lost ritsu, who at one point was like a brother to him. his own relationship with the idea of his family is not… good, in any case. i think they come to find some sort of solace in each other in that, after realizing they’re actually related. they’ve already come to travel with each other and trust each other… i like to think they decide they should just hand wave all the technicalities of how distantly they’re related and how weird the family tree would look and just go with a catch all “we’re cousins” or something.

Castti, while getting her memories back about what happened immediately prior to the events of the game, still struggles with remembering most of her life. it’s not something she really fully recovers from. she never remembers the faces of her parents, or if she had any siblings, her childhood, things like that. sometimes when she gets a flash of something, a glimmer of a skill she had no idea she was well-practiced in, or a remembered fact she can’t recall where she read it, she still finds herself troubled. she basically has to re-invent herself. still, she gets by with a quiet determination to always do right, with the knowledge that she at the very least, knows who she is now, in the present.

okay so initial thoughts on honkai star rail after i played like half of the tutorial bit this morning before work

first off, for the record, i have not played or heard much of anything about honkai impact 3rd and i have only played genshin impact pretty much since launch so my expectations were "genshin but sci-fi fantasy" but i can say that's not quite what i got (here’s a read more if you don’t care lol)

- immediately i notice that the graphics fidelity is gorgeous, very sleek and clean - it startled me a bit but also made me happy that the lip flaps are synced to the english dub! it seemed to flow really well even with the expression changes. the dialogue system doesn't seem all too different from genshin or. any other system like that. but it's got a pretty nice polish on the transitions between different states - the animation in the cutscenes and battles are really good, clearly they had a real talented team working on them. the characters feel so bouncy and expressive and it is pretty darn satisfying - the UI and interactive language is pretty much exactly the same as genshin with a sci-fi coat of paint. that's not a bad thing necessarily but like. it's pretty obvious - so the way combat and elemental powers work is very different from genshin, which frankly i should have expected, given this is a turn-based rpg. and i shouldn't have too much trouble with it, since turn-based rpgs are kind of a staple in my game roster, but for some reason i had trouble connecting with it. obviously finishing the tutorial would help, but it didn't feel as intuitive as i expected elements are presented in more of a traditional jrpg type of way where there are clear weaknesses you can exploit on enemies if you attack with a certain element. idk if i fully mean this but i think it kind of ruins part of the fun of discovering an enemy's weakness when the game itself just. tells you what it is off the bat also the types are weird in that they have pretty static effects in terms of what they do, the variability in moves is probably also explained further in character profiles but i haven't found how to look at that yet bkjljl - i'm fascinated by the ideas of Quantum and Imaginary types. what does that even mean. how do those manifest - i think it was a bit of a bold move to start the game off with two random characters talking about the world as if things are normal and known, and then having them influence your player character into. being in the plot not that i didn't like kafka and silver wolf. in fact i love both of them a lot. but i also had no context and had no goddamn idea what was going on so i was thrown pretty off-guard first thing which isn't exactly the greatest first impression lol - why is she named March 7th. does anyone know. is there a joke lost in translation or is it because she's like a pseudo-mascot character or. what - speaking of march actually i really want to like her but so far her character reeks of "hi i'm a girl". her skill is called "The Power of Cuteness" and one of her abilities is called "Girl Power" and so far her personality is cute, kind, and kinda stupid. it's a bit much. but she's neat - i have no big opinions on dan heng except he's neat and people keep saying he's the kazuha of star rail bc windy maple leaf boys but they're wrong bc dan heng has a stabby not a slicey and he can only hit one person at a time while kazoo thrives on the multi-hit AoE damage - i do love that the MC's weapon is just. a future baseball bat. that they get to smack people really hard with. no element, just big smack - oh yeah hyv loves to queerbait i guess cuz that wasn't CPR honey the twitter crowd wasn't kidding - i can’t think of anything else rn cuz it’s past midnight but star rail is neat and i like the little train rabbit dog mascot it’s cute and i wanna get past the tutorial hkjbjk

She daydreams constantly. Like in the middle of brushing her hair, taking photos, talking to people. When she gets that glazed look in her eyes just know she’s daydreaming about getting railed into next week. Does not feel bad for daydreaming either, the person she is talking to should’ve been more interesting. She also tends to incorporate kinks she is curious about in her daydreams to try and predict if she would like it or not. Gets upset when reality isn’t like her daydreams because she spends so much time perfecting what’s happening in her mind that she can’t control in real life.

If asked what she’s thinking about she’d probably say shopping or fashion just because she doesn’t want people to know that she does have those urges. She has an image to maintain.

I think she is either clean shaven/waxed or she has her hair cut into like a heart or something. It’s a preference for her because she doesn’t like the feeling of pubic hair. Doesn’t think it’s dirty, just doesn’t like it on herself. Her pubic hair is blonde but slightly darker and paler(less saturated? Idk how to explain my thoughts). It isn’t as blonde as the hair on her head and isn’t as shiny. It’s very curly and when she can’t shave she makes sure it’s soft.

T-Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)

Definitely!! I think she has a small box of toys that she uses on herself and will request that you use them on her during sex. Before dating she was much too lazy to go into the city to find someone to hook up with, and the times that she hooked up with Alex she didn’t enjoy half the time so she bought herself toys to use for when she’s pent up. When she starts dating you however she finds that incorporating them into sex is fun and would probably go as far as buying cute toys for both of you to use that she keeps in a separate box.

Montgomery Gator

Goes back and watches the recordings of things he finds interesting. If your ass looked particularly nice or if you haven’t been around in a while he’ll replay videos of the last time you two had sex or if you did or said something that made his heart soar. He will never admit that sometimes he uses his recordings for dirty and wholesome purposes, he needs everyone to think he’s tough.

Absolutely none he is an animatronic alligator. He is as smooth as metal can be, but I do think of he was a human man his would be cut into a small bush and it would be black like what I think his natural hair color would be.

No. The man(gator) lives in a pizzaplex surrounded by workers and children. Would have no way to get toys unless he got it delivered by Amazon for something and theres always a possibility of him getting caught. He might be a bad boy type guy but I don’t think he likes getting in trouble. And I think he would have no need for them. HOWEVER if you’re dating him you have a better chance of sneaking toys in if you want to use them. He might be insecure about you wanting to use them at first but is always willing to help you feel good so he would use them on you.

Bubba Sawyer

D-Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)

He steals panties. I think he’s in charge of butchering the victims, and a lot of the time he swipes their panties before he gets to work. Seeing how the family reacts to sex and relationships I think this secret is one that he keeps to himself pretty well even though I don’t think he’s good at keeping secrets at all. He keeps the panties in a drawer down in the basement and it’s pretty safe seeing as no one really goes down there for anything except for him.

Dude has a freaking jungle on him ngl he doesn’t shave or maintain it at all. He allows it to grow wild on him and unless you say something about how you prefer it he’s going to continue to let it do what it wants. His pubic hair is dark brown, similar to the hair on his head. It’s very curly and rough because he doesn’t groom it very well. Good thing is the hair doesn’t get too long because it breaks off at the ends often.

Dude probably doesn’t even know they exist. Like ngl I know he doesn’t get out much to experience ANYTHING and Drayton seems like the type that he wouldn’t allow those things in the house. So Bubba sadly has no toys to use or to use on you, because let’s face it if you’re in a relationship with him there’s no way you got there on your own. Closest thing he’s ever had to a sex toy is like a stuffed animal that he dry jumped against once then felt so bad about it that he trashed it immediately.

Even though she’s never cheated, she used to fantasize about cheating on Joseph to let him know how it feels even though she doubts he would care. She would just like to see the look on his face when he realizes that like him, she went outside of their marriage to find pleasure. If they end up getting divorce and she ends up with you, she now think about how shitty he must feel knowing that you get her all to yourself and that you can actually treat someone properly. Like you’re just better than he is and that makes her feel as if she’s getting revenge in some way.

I feel like she doesn’t bother with shaving at all. Like she trims it so it doesn’t get too out of control, but she doesn’t make the effort to full on shave the bush off. Doesn’t really care or need to, she’s a grown woman that knows how to manage herself and her hygiene, and after getting used to having hair than not after having kids she is fine with it. I think her pubic hair is dark brown and curly. It’s not too thick at all which makes it easier to manage.

I honestly do not think Joseph would want her to have toys. It would cause him to go into a rant or whatever so she probably only has a vibrator that she hides from him and uses when he’s out of the house. I don’t know if she would buy any more though, maybe if you take her to a toy store.

So let me spiral into my Bad Batch feels in this site as well with a bit (okay, it's not a bit, it turned out longer than intended oof) of a headcanon or idk, just ramblings in general...

Once Tech inevitably figures out where the Empire is holding Crosshair and their other fellow clones, Echo is the one to persuade Hunter to take up the mission. Yes, it's risky. But they are more than just soldiers. They're brothers.

Let me start with Omega. She's always known about the inhibitor chips even before everyone else did. And she knew that Crosshair was heavily affected by it. Then, even as Crosshair clarifies it that it was his choice, she still doesn't blame him and remains optimistic that he will eventually be part of their little family again.

Next, with Wrecker. His vibrant energy so much like Omega's, but he actually spent so much time with Crosshair. Again, I have to bring up some observations with my Bad Batch s1 and TCW Bad Batch rewatches. Wrecker and Crosshair had a lot of banter. Wrecker with childish humor, and Crosshair with his deadpan seriousness. But even then, I really sense how much they enjoyed each other's company in their own ways, so the idea that Crosshair is out there and might be in trouble, to Wrecker, it doesn't matter much what terrible past he had done. He just missed his friend, his brother.

Over the course of s2, large in part with the help of Omega, Tech's ability to understand and express his emotions have improved a great deal. That convo between him and her really put things into perspective for Tech, and when he met the crew to discuss that decrypted data for Echo, he carries this air of vulnerability to him now. He's allowing himself that in his own way. There's this strong sense of him being concerned for his brother in his own way that he may have actually looked up his number in the Empire's records just to make sure Crosshair was safe. And he wasn't.

Echo would feel very responsible to do whatever he can to make sure Crosshair and the rest of his brothers are safe and not experimented on. He knows the kind of shit that feels like and no matter if he is on the losing battle, as long as he does his very best to make sure everyone else is okay, that's more than good enough for him.

Then you have Hunter, whose hesitation to believe Crosshair's signal is rooted in protectiveness toward the crew, but also because he blames himself. In s1, he specifically mentions to Omega that he's not angry at Crosshair, he's angry at himself. Even when s1 ends and Crosshair makes it clear he's choosing the Empire, those self blaming feelings aren't something he can just shake off. He's their team leader, he feels responsible, and even though he probably wants to have the hope that he can get his brother to reunite with the crew, there's just so much risk and he can't afford to lose any more of his family.

Last but certainly not the least, we got our batcher in trouble, Crosshair. He carries so much pain in him, thinking that they abandoned him when he chose to side with the Empire. That's what they were supposed to do, right? And do it together. But as it turns out, the Empire didn't care for him. So now he's fighting back in his own way. There's a lot of guilt here too, he's not just suffering physical pain from the torture by Hemlock and co, his solitude is heavily highlighted. Right now, he thinks he has no one anymore. Not even the Bad Batch. So when he figures out what Hemlock wants, he didn't even try to escape the prison, to escape his pain. Not really. He doesn't feel deserving or worthy anymore because of his choices. Despite that, he still believed in his crew and chose to protect them, even Omega, whom in some ways he may have felt jealous in earlier parts of the show, for taking his place as a member of the team. Crosshair chose to carry all the pain. He may not have hope for himself anymore, but his family- they still have hope and he gave the little of what's left in him to them.

Next week is gonna be such an emotional rollercoaster ride, I am both soooo excited and soooo terrified...

tuesday - wednesday

long day cuz i went out, unexpectedly.

but going out ended up nice, i got free pizza from a nice british tourist woman, her family/group had one piece left and no one was hungry enough for it, and i was staring, and some other guy was looking to get it, and she saw me, and she gave it to me, so thank you woman, very much, for feeding me. otherwise, all i had eaten earlier in the day prior to that was french toast. a little later, just before the pizza, i had two fairly skinny chicken tenders. and to end the night i ate another sort of toast, honey toast, it was really insanely good. not to mention the hanging out was with people i really like being around, so that was nice, my gf, two of her colleagues, and strangely enough a friend i know all the way from highschool who has become involved with one of the colleagues, they're very cute as friends, a casual thing they want to keep, i really like them near eachother, though, i kind of want them to be best friends forever.

the start of the night where we hung out kind of was rough for me though because i was so tired + hungry, it was a rough time sort of, but worth it.

Colonel Potter has the most trans man vibes though

1. constantly tells stories about his past that you’re never quite sure which of is true and which isn’t 

2. including stories about joining up at fifteen. The late great Dr Barry would constantly change the age of his birth, at one point making it seem like he’d started studying medicine at, I believe, the age of ten!

3. of course this would also have the added benefit of him at the time explaining why he presumably looked so youthful and didn’t shave (Potter is always perfectly shaven too I think, which is good army etiquette and a good way of passing)

5. has the vibes of someone who’s really living his masculinity -- where, say, Radar (whom one also reads as a trans guy on occasion/there’s at least one excellent fic about it) is somewhat insecure in his masculinity, especially in things like height and has a lot of jokes pointed at him targeting those insecurities, nobody in their right mind would ever challenge Potter on things like height, or being quite emotionally open, etc. Call this older trans guy is way past giving a shit and younger trans guy is worried about getting clocked

6. idk, something about his relationship with Mildred feels so right: stories about trans people who were never clocked by their partners or who started out with partners who fully knew and supported them or were t4t the whole time..... all of these could be great! (either they adopted their kid, which there are personal stories of trans people doing in the past when such things were less recorded, or in the last one Potter could also have given birth...)

7. but mainly just this idea of a story in which someone has genuinely loved someone for so many years, but who’s put his life into this space (the army) in which many a trans man has been able to create his masculinity/new identity, and so he’s struggling with the idea of letting that go, what does that mean to him as a man who became a man in this space? what kind of man will he be outside of that space?

8. something as well about the romantic attitude of the cavalry, and choosing to become a doctor -- I mean here I think about the old fashioned masculinity of the former, and Dr Barry again in the latter. becoming a man through one of the limited routes afforded in which you may have been able to pass (at the time when he joined the army/cavalry) and then choosing to be a man who heals. it’s just... neat

9. also not to compare him again to Dr Barry (but also yes) but Barry was famously anti-authoritarian and honest in his viewpoints to the point that when he was young he got into a great deal of trouble, because it was considered from the perspective of him making trouble for trouble’s sake (this feels tbh very Hawkeye) but when he got older people often described him as a curmudgeon who cared too much about things and would go on and on about them, and would be able to dismiss him far easier, which is kind of a saddening thing to know, but with Potter that very gruff honesty pays off and is respected and something other men wish to emulate, and I just like that

10. all of this also ties into his working class upbringing and rising through the ranks as an enlisted man, rather than coming from a place of privilege from the get go. the idea of earning masculinity, again (again again again) invoking Barry’s attitudes around how much he had earned his position 

11. generally this just feels like the happier James Barry story, in which Potter is supported in older age and can retire without being penniless and suddenly with barely any friends left (his old friends, yes, but Potter gains a bunch of new ones at the 4077) and on his own terms

Hal- Monster High (the justice league hates when they do mental links via J’onn because he constantly has the first opening stuck in his head and doesn’t even realize hes humming it until someone says something and even then it doesn’t really go away until he has something else stuck in his head. he has also on multiple occasions cross-dresses as one of the female characters to match with Helen, who would dress as one of the guy characters. Hal kills it every single time. he looks so good its not even funny.)(the main two that Hal does are Rochelle Goyle and Operetta. Helen’s are Deuce Gorgon and Holt Hyde)(if anyone wants to draw Hal in either of those outfits please hit me up it would be so good and i would be forever grateful and maybe even owe you a kiss on the forehead for your troubles)

Guy- Twilight (he likes the side characters and wishes that SMeyer hadn’t fucked them all up like she did. he likes the baseball scene in the first movie bc it slaps, and Emmett and Leah are his favorite characters. Emmett is a lot like him and Leah was written so badly. They both deserved so much better.)(he totally doesn’t write twilight fix its on the internet but if you know the right places to go, there may be a fix it fic written by one EmeraldWarrior.)(the fics fix a lot of things about the series and are actually pretty good and god i wish they were real -ketchup)(jo doesn’t read his fics, but she has mutuals who are into Twilight and have read them, so she has heard about the fics in detail from them. she doesn’t put two and two together until she meets Guy and immediately is like “hey wait” and the secret is out but still between the two of them -specs)

John- The Argeneau Series (its vampires but they made it scientific and actually gave answers for why vampires do and require certain things instead of just leaving it down to “idk man. magic or something.” its also not too well known or talked about, so no one has had a chance to ruin it yet. just like how john likes it.)

Kyle- The Lost Boys (comics nerds have to fight vampires and look into comic books to find the answers. home alone with vampire fighting mechanics. need i say more?)(ketchup has never seen this before ever)

Jess- The Mortal Instruments/Shadowhunters (the series focuses more on the angelic and demonic than the vampires themselves, but they still play a large role in it. She believes Raphael deserved better and thinks its funny that the main vampire character is named Simon.)(the movie does not exist.)

Simon- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (fuck Joss Whedon but Buffy. he liked some parts of the show and hated others but thought it was a very interesting interpretations of an American high school.)

Alan- Nosferatu (1922) (it is the vampire movie of all time and even though its corny as all get out, he likes the simplicity of it as well as the staying power it had through the depression and the world war. its also just a really hilariously stupid adaptation of Dracula.)

Carol- Vampire Academy (she can and will go on hours long rants about various things in the series. Hal has never read the books, but he did watch the movie on his own time so he could better understand her rants but that just made Carol more angry. the movie does not exist. Hal can still have a conversation with even the most dedicated of readers about the series based on what he has absorbed through osmosis from Carol.)(in this scenario specs is Hal and me and our roommate are both Carol. as this was typed, specs and i had a conversation about the plot in vampire academy lol -ketchup)

Thaal- Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) (theres a weird monsterfucking scene that kept ketchup from watching it the first time they tried. Thaal would get a kick out of it because hes a kinky motherfucker, as well as the stupid butt wig. seriously wtf is up with the butt wig. its so stupid)

so, the audiobooks are Incredible ! like. no joke. i actually relistened to them back in like. march / april / may, that area and i Loved it ! actually, fun fact, david tennant recorded them and he does a phenomenal job !!! he gets super into character and does different voices for everyone and is just all around Incredible ! they are a pleasure to listen to!

another thing i'll add is that cressida adds her own pictures and i'm pretty sure none of these include her pictures which is sad :/ but maybe some do ! the art is really cute ! she also includes things in the middle of the books like a guide on certain words or phrases and how to say them in dragonese or pages from hiccup's personal guide to dragon's book which gives you, the reader, more information about the dragons hiccup and the gang are facing, seeing, interacting with! the audiobook includes those, but idk about the pdfs!

i hope you enjoy them because these books were like. my childhood. i vividly remember that i once had a (poorly drawn) map hanging on my wall of the world in relation to berk and where all of the different viking tribes were ! the characters are all unique and quirky and wait also

do Not let the silliness of the first few books make you stop because they get so much more mature as they go on. not to make a harry potter reference because screw jkr, but like, you wouldn't put goblet of fire as the first hp book. you gotta work up to the genuine seriousness, you gotta introduce the characters and establish world building and that's what the first three, four, books does ! cressida is a super clever author too, and everything she writes matters, even if it's later on. it's incredible to watch the books mature, i remember reading every book as they came out and being blown away every time. i was just a kid, tho, so rereading / listening to them makes me gape sometimes because wow there are some serious / darker themes that are handled Really Well.

the books also have Incredible representation for their time, imo, especially with gender roles (which is even more impactful when camicazi comes in in book three) and disabilities (fishlegs is a Huge person here and i love him) (toothless also works here too because he has a stutter), amongst other things. and none of these things are ever made fun of in a way that seems legit. the people who make fun of them are the jerks or the villains or the people you aren't supposed to like. it's just. ahhhhh! they're so good and i have Many Feelings i could go on forever about how much i adore these books wow wow wow but i shall stop now so i do not spoil anything major because i am Great at accidentally spoiling lol

Almost one third of Toki's total birthdays had been spent celebrating with the band. His twenty-first had seemed at the time like the height of debauchery, with its marathon bar-crawl-turned-house-party that, after a neighbor called in a noise complaint, migrated first to the strip club before finally ending with him passed out in the sand as the sun rose over the ocean. He'd been sure nothing would ever top it, and that the hangover would kill him. Then their first record went platinum, money started pouring in, and twenty-two made the previous year's blow-out look like a kindergarten graduation.

"Here we ams."

The lock beeped as Skwisgaar swiped his key card, opening the door to their blessedly quiet penthouse suite and immediately disappearing around the corner. Thick, creamy rugs covered the parquet flooring, a wall of glass overlooking the Côte d'Azur below. The sky and water alike were dusky with pinks and purples, the sun already hidden by a low bank of clouds along the horizon. Shadows stretched long in the dying light, and it took Toki's eyes several seconds to adjust so he could enter without tripping over Skwisgaar's abandoned suitcase ahead of him.

After a decade of screaming groupies, of binge drinking and drug-fueled hijinks, Toki decided that for his thirtieth, all he wanted was to get away. He dropped his luggage just inside the foyer—someone would take care of it later—and made straight for the white leather sectional that dominated the lounge, diving onto it with a running leap.

"Ohh, dis is niiiice," Toki sighed, twisting up in the cashmere throw draped artfully over the back of the couch. He was accustomed to luxury, but his standards were meager compared to Skwisgaar's requirements for accommodations. Letting him plan their holiday had been a good choice, Toki was sure the amenities here lacked for nothing.

"You likes it?" Skwisgaar reappeared, wiping his hands on a kitchen towel. He must have gone to freshen up after their flight.

"I loves it."

"Dats good, cuz you owns it now. Happy boirthdays, hueghueh." Skwisgaar dropped the towel on the floor, moving to straddle Toki's lap as he sat up.

"Oh, was de wallpapers not to your liking before? Dids dey not haves cucumber water bidets installed?" Toki squeezed Skwisgaar's thigh, the couch cushions creaking as he reclined. "I thought it smelled like sawdust in heres, how much dids you remodel?"

Skwisgaar shrugged, "Was just easiers dis way. No checkingk in and outs. Can come backs whenever want."

"Mm. Dat do sounds good." Toki leaned forward for a kiss, Skwisgaar meeting him halfway. "Thank you."

"Of course. But I has anudder soirprise too." He punctuated the statement with another press of lips, and Toki melted into it until he felt the stretch of an elastic band at the back of his head.

"What ams you doing?" Pulling back, Toki's brows rose as a satin mask was slipped over his eyes.

"What does it looks like I am doing?"

"I don't knows? I can't see?"

Skwisgaar batted his fingers away when he reached for the blindfold. "Ezacktlies."

"But—"

"You don't trusts me?" Mock-offense made Skwisgaar's voice hike in pitch. "After I wents to all dis trouble!"

"Ja, swipings your credit card sure can takes a lot out of you." Toki was rewarded for his cheekiness with another light swat.

Climbing from Toki's lap, Skwisgaar continued his lament, the sound of his voice floating away as he crossed to the opposite side of the room, as best Toki could judge without peeking. "So unapprciateds, I don't know why I tries."

After a minute, footfalls announced his return, then his hands tickled over Toki's chest and stomach, finally alighting on his waist. Skwisgaar slowly, carefully peeled away Toki's shirt, readjusting the blindfold when it shifted as the tee was pulled over his head. Toki saw only a brief glimpse of flickering light, surmising that Skwisgaar must have opted for candlelight as the night grew deeper. That made him smile, it was awfully romantic.

Skwisgaar brushed Toki's hair over one shoulder, ducking to plant a trail of kisses up his neck, but the notion of a quiet, tender evening was quickly ejected from Toki's mind as nimble fingers fastened something around his throat.

They'd discussed restraints, even employed them a time or two, but never on Toki and never without warning first. His initial burst of shock abated quickly, dissolving into a warmth that simmered low in his belly; his hands were still free, he could object if it turned out to be too much for him. Curiosity won out. He waited.

Muted clattering on the coffee table piqued his interest next, Toki's mind racing with possibility. Skwisgaar had a tendency to over pack, his suitcase quite large for a weekend away, but Toki assumed the bag had been jammed full of hair products and backups for his backup outfits. Perhaps there was something more rousing smuggled away in the Swede's carry-on. His pulse quickened, his legs jumping in anticipation.

A bit more racket from the table, then the unmistakable sound of a plastic cap being flipped open. Though he couldn't see him, Toki could sense Skwisgaar standing directly in front of him, looming tall. When he spoke, the bassy timbre of his voice sent an excited shiver through Toki's system.

"Okej, now opens your mouth."

Toki obeyed, gripping the edge of his seat to keep his hands still. Immediately, he jolted backwards, his tongue coated with creamy sweetness.

"Dats cold! What de hell?!" He ripped the blindfold from his eyes, blinking up at Skwisgaar holding a fork.

He'd been correct about the lighting, though less so when he imagined hundreds of pillars and tapers encased in hurricane glass cylinders, rose petals scattered to enhance the mood. Instead, melting slowly at the center of the coffee table, sat a square dessert topped with a handful of guttering candles.

"What?"

Toki loved sweets. He loved sweets, but that fondness for treats had taken its toll on his body in a dangerous way. Their doctor warned him that as he got older he needed to be even more careful to mind his glucose levels, so meals lately had been more restrictive and his alcohol intake (a bit) more mindful.

An assortment of syrups and toppings and jars of sprinkles bordered the platter bearing a sweating ice cream cake, each bottle and container bearing a green sunburst label that read 'sugar free!' in blocky lettering. It seemed his dietary concerns had been considered when these offerings were laid at the altar.

"You gots me a birthday cakes?" Toki lifted his gaze from the dessert to Skwisgaar still hovering over him. "Wait. Why you takes my shirt off?"

"Tch, does you want to gets you clothes all sticky?" He still held a forkful of cake, his other hand cupped beneath it to catch any drips.

Toki looked down, finally paying attention to the shift of fabric against his otherwise bare chest. The sensation hadn't registered through his burgeoning arousal, and now confusion flooded into the mix. He grabbed the terry cloth and yanked, pulling the bib from around his neck, mouth hanging open incredulously.

"What de hell ams dis for?!"

"It's cold, you said sos yourself! I didn't think you'd wants to gets any on you eidder!" Skwisgaar's lip trembled, clearly fighting laughter at this point. To stall, he ate the bite of cake himself, then his head tipped to the side, all honey and false innocence when he asked, "What dids you expects when I said soirprise?"

The bridge of Toki's nose prickled as a blush spread over his cheeks, his jaw jutting forward in a pout. "Ha ha, you's very funny. And yes, I did think you hads something else ups your sleeves. You gots me. Great jobs, jerk." He crossed his arms obstinately over his naked torso. "Thought you was supposed to be nice to me at least for today."

Skwisgaar smirked. He turned and stabbed the fork into the center of the cake, a flag planted to claim some conquered territory, then picked up one of the aluminum cans from the table, tossing it so that it spun end over end in the air before slapping against his palm when he caught it again. It made a quiet sloshing sound as he shook it under Toki's nose.

"I didn'ts say dat you was wrong ins your assumptions. Dis ams clearly too much whipped creams for a slice of cakes." The pink tip of his tongue slid along the edge of his teeth and he eyed Toki expectantly. "Well? You gonna makes a wish or not?"

Growling wolfishly, Toki lunged forward and blew out the candles with a mighty puff. In the same motion, he snagged Skwisgaar behind the knees and dragged him laughing onto the cushions as the room was plunged into twilit shadow.

u posted a snippet of a comic where kakashi was coaxing tenzo to take off his anbu mask, i was wondering if u would ever post the full comic? it seems so sad and sweet and id love to have the full context of why tenz was keeping the mask on and why kk was afraid that he was doing so? if not its okay!

AH i'm surprised you remember that!!!! that feels like ages ago...back in may, i think?

i will post the full comic one day, but i have to ink it and muddle through a color palette first! because ive been so busy, i haven't had time to work on it so the pencils are still at 4/12 pages, but i can share with u what i have atm bc it'd be good to refresh my memory too. be warned obviously that like, these are pencils and not a finished, ready-to-consume product, so many things may be unclear! I'll add a little elaboration of my thoughts at the bottom of each one that should hopefully help!

page one. the top of the page and the box right below it are going to be flat black—the implication that Kakashi is speaking into a room which has no source of light. In the second one, Tenzō's pose is unclear, but he's curled up defensively into as tiny of a ball as he can manage, like a pill bug, even his speech bubbles fall along the outside of him, like he's trying to use them as another defense. In the third, we have Kakashi from Tenzō's POV. He's just opened the door, is standing tall and somewhat rigid like he's expecting an attack, taking in the situation. In the fourth and fifth panels, Tenzō sees this, and turns away, becoming deeply embarrassed that he's come to Kakashi for help at all, and that somebody he respects so much is seeing him in such a "pathetic" moment.

This is the panel you referenced—you can see by Kakashi's posture (low to the ground, loose limbs and no longer stiff or anticipating conflict, keeping a distance between he and tenzō) that he's not actually scared, per se. He's approaching Tenzō with the same gentleness that somebody might use in approaching an injured animal. If he's frightened at all, he's frightened for Tenzō's sake, but mostly he says it because he's having a trouble getting a read on the situation when Tenzō is wearing his mask.

It's true that like, as a former root agent, Tenzō is one of the least expressive people in Konoha, but even still, any movement of his face gives Kakashi more context than the cold porcelain of the cat mask, and walking into an unknown situation with a clearly unwell teammate, Kakashi wants as much context as possible so that he doesn't make the situation worse by accident.

Whether Tenzō complies because he doesn't want Kakashi to feel "scared" or simply because he was given a command is unclear at first, but Immediately after, he starts talking about how he's going to have to be re-evaluated for duty, and how hopsital dodging is a serious problem for a shinobi, etc, indicating that he's not really in a space where he can process emotional consequences very well.

I also make a point of not showing his full face during this page, because a full face will generally ask us to relate to the feelings expressed on the face, and I want those feelings to be as hard to read and unsure as they are for Kakashi in that moment, but I couldn't help but show his eyes when he removes the mask.

Top panel is Tenzo responding to Kakashi's command "let me see it," and him stretching his injured arm out for Kakashi to examine. The second panel should have Kakashi's hands gently grasping Tenzō's. Kakashi doesn't go into his space, and instead asks Tenzō to come into his, so that Tenzō can take his time if he needs it.

Idk, with a shinobi that's Going Through It, pushing their boundaries before they're ready is a good way to make their situation worse, or end up with a kunai in ur gut, so it's not something kakashi's gonna do. It's also, not coincidentally, the first panel we see Tenzō's whole face in (though it's still tilted away), and are therefore asked to try and imagine his feelings.

The next panel where he's observing his shaking hands is almost normal, but then the second he goes right back to covering his face with one of those hands and apologizing, stumbling in his attempt to be open. The two blank panels after that should have Kakashi looking directly at Tenzō, and then looking back down at the wound he's inspecting, and giving Tenzō the verdict "You'll be okay." (i know the speech bubble is low there and looks like it's part of the lower Kakashi panel, but I'll fix that in inks).

Then, like a record caught in a scratch, Tenzō just keeps apologizing, like he's forgotten he can do anything else. Kakashi mistakenly assumes it's because Tenzō thinks Kakashi's mad at him (Tenzō does not think this, both because Kakashi is rarely mad at all, and certainly not at him, and because he doesn't have the emotional space or skills in this moment to consider that Kakashi does feel any particular way about this situation)

Kakashi, who is trying his best but sucks at this kind of thing, is getting frustrated with the apologies, and uncomfortable because it feels like they're directed at him, even though they aren't. It's an unbearably uncomfortable position for him to have somebody apologize so profusely, especially somebody he sees as a trusted teammate and friend, and especially for something that's so clearly out of their control. He doesn't want it.

So, frustrated, he redirects. "What happened on this mission to fuck you up this bad?" the only real indicator of his frustration is that in this sentence his language is more coarse, where before he'd been very placatingly careful, and the expression he makes at Tenzō's arm.

He's thinking "well, this sucks and we're not getting anywhere with it, so I'm just going to ask what happened and get it over with."

Then we see Tenzō's full face again as he takes in the question. Around here, when I add color, the page will begin to shift green, and lighter green near the bottom.

Then, as his hair begins to lift, as though it's floating in water, with a blank face Tenzō will say that he doesn't know what happened.

Then, turning to fully face Kakashi (or us, the viewer) for the first time in these four pages he will correct himself, and say "nothing. nothing happened." But he will be green, and much like within the test tube he was raised in, he will be unclothed and his hair will be floating. The first time we're fully asked (by his direct eye contact) to understand and relate to his feelings, he will make it very clear to us the viewer (and Kakashi who is with us, listening to Tenzō say nothing happened when Clearly Something Happened) that the world he's experiencing for the moment is at odds with the body he's sitting in and the room he's sitting in it with, and that's why he's having such an incredibly difficult time processing anything.
