anyway, since we do that so often, we’ve made and followed the trail of a LOT of stan twins over the years. of course, the aus we talk about are typically either the most interesting or the ones that pop up the most (ae’d say canon stans show up the most by far, which yeah. makes sense)

what’s interesting though is that we’ve noticed a trend of sorts?

so, for portal stans, it’s either slice of life or stan gets all the armour and such and ford gets portal’d into a quadrupedal ✨creature✨

for young adult stans, it’s either the young stan twins get sent to a different timeline or something and have to live with the sea grunks (guys who have everything worked out and are slowly healing with each other’s help vs guys who have processed exactly 0% of any of their trauma and also have not spoken to each other in a decade) or ford is fucked beyond belief and stan is going to try to help dammit

and then for the post portal twins it’s either ‘OH GOD FUCK MY SHITTY MENTAL HEALTH’ or ‘OH GOD FUCK A SHITTY ANOMALY’ and honestly ae think those two are our favorites

the sea grunks having to live in the same house as the young stans and the portal stans literally just vibing are also good but our favorites are definitely the spicy slice of life ones

A love letter to Kokoro Mitsume

IDK how much SDRA2 is discussed and especially in terms of character analysis but Kokoro Mitsume’s story hits me really hard, honestly. She’s probably my favourite character in the game. Yes, she might be incredibly amoral and literally had a child just to treat them as an experiment, but I love her anyway, fucked upness and all.

Of course there’s the issue on whether the NDness of Kokoro (she has alexithymia, the difficulty or outright inability to recognise emotions in herself and others) is used to make her a villain, but... hear me out, I have a take on this. It’s probably headcanon, I’m not sure if LINUJ thought this deep about it, but hear me out.

So if you play her free time events, Kokoro explains she is how she is because of her alexithymia. Given that I’m Autistic myself and I myself sometimes struggle reading emotions in people, and Kokoro herself displayed a lot of Autistic behaviour, I couldn’t help but empathise with her.

She describes that when she was a child, her teacher saw how she was and that led to her parents taking her to a mental hospital for treatment, and eventually she ended up recognising the curiosity in herself, and that curiosity became a desire to understand emotions. This is how she comes to be really good at reading other people despite her condition, but she still wants to try and understand the emotions in herself, and has to use things like context to figure out what exactly she’s feeling.

Anyway, where I’m going with this is... I can’t help but get the sense that Kokoro feels like she’s “wrong” or “broken” on some level? The way she calls alexithymia a disease and talking about trying to cure it (which could just be ignorance on LINUJ’s part, I expect cure culture as the default unfortunately) kinda gives me that vibe. And basically, her curiosity developed because other people saw her and thought something was wrong with her. She asked “what are emotions, and what are they in me?” because she likely first asked “is something wrong with me?”

I don’t even know if Kokoro herself realises this. If she struggled to understand her own emotions, then I’d be surprised if she did, especially since she now has a single minded devotion to her research on emotions and especially “primitive emotions”.

So my thesis here is basically, because Kokoro on some level realised people made her feel like she was wrong or broken because of her different mind, the curiosity in her made her research emotions. Because curiosity is the only emotion she can understand in herself, that intensified, as she described it. And because that’s all that matters to her, she’s willing to sacrifice ethics to get the data she seeks.

There’s a part of her story I think is yet to be known though. In the killing school trip and free time events, we do see hesitation in performing these experiments. She says it’s because she lacks the data, but even when someone like Sora is around (who with context we realise Kokoro is interested in her because it turns out she’s just a program existing through Akane Taira’s mind), she seems to be trying to restrain herself, and she also seems to genuinely want to help the others escape the killing school trip.

Sora rightfully points out that even if Kokoro doesn’t think so about herself, she is a kind and caring person on some level. If she wasn’t, she wouldn’t be questioning her desires like this. Yet we see in the present in the real world, Kokoro is someone not only willing to have a child just to experiment on it, and when that goes wrong she’d sacrifice her marriage to keep experimenting (I do wonder how she got married actually, there’s definitely a story there), but she lets Alter Ego Mikado continue to exist even as he is actively malevolent just so she can try and use the AE to understand primitive emotions better.

So I’m suggesting that it feels like something happened between when she was young, where her mind in the killing school trip is set to, and when she’s a middle aged woman doing the experiments she is. I have no idea what that could be, but I feel like something caused any of that hesitation and compassion to disappear. She describes even in the free times that she’d do the things she’d do without hesitation, but as mentioned Sora realises her actions say otherwise.

Could it be as simple as her curiosity growing stronger, with less pressure on it? Did something happen with Mr Kurokawa? Who even knows. Point is, it feels like she got worse overtime.

So to summarise, in my eyes, Kokoro Mitsume isn’t just some amoral mad scientist, but the product of an ableist, sanist society. She still did the horrible things she did, and her daughter Mikako Kurokawa would have every right to be upset at her for the way she was treated, nevermind the victims of the killing game. My point is simply that I feel like if Kokoro grew up in a more understanding and compassionate environment to people like her, she wouldn’t have developed the obsession she did. Even if she did end up wanting to learn more about herself (because who wouldn’t?), I feel like without the external pressure of parents, teachers and the psychiatric system looking at her as having something “wrong” with her, she wouldn’t have developed an obsession this all consuming.

I have no idea what LINUJ was thinking when writing her. I do think there’s arguments to be made some of this could just be ableist ignorance (I mean, has Danganronpa ever been “woke” lol), but I also think ND people should be allowed to be complicated characters who can have all kinds of stories, happy or tragic. Honestly, I love that Kokoro is a fucked up mad scientist. I gravitate to these kinds of characters, maybe because I see parts of myself in them. Neurodivergent people may often be villainised for our traits, but I think it’s also concerning that people want to remove our agency and act like we can’t do anything wrong, and thus we end up getting very sanitised representation.

Not sure if any of this even makes sense, but my point is: I love Kokoro Mistume, death of the author or not, and I love her because she’s neurodivergent and messed up. I totally see why people wouldn’t like her (look, having a kid just to make them an experiment is fucked up no matter how you look at it), and if people are uncomfortable because she may perpetuate certain stereotypes about neurodivergent people, but I still love her regardless.

So this blog @schneeplestein made by @crazions​ caught my attention some day and it looked very interesting and I decided to follow it. Since they there have been a bunch of posts in what looks to be like an ego ARG (Alternate Reality Game) which also involves 2 other blogs. (It might not really be that but I will call it that anyway)

I like code solving and I love ARGs so i took the time to read through all of the story and decode what I can to combine it all in one post for anyone interested... Note that this thing has ended

Also note that I’ll only really go about the “hidden” material, not story, and I don’t want to repost any logs so I highly encourage anyone interested to go take a look at the original blog first. Some great work has been put into it and it deserves to be appreciated!

NOTE!! After I finished this post I did find out someone else made something and I don’t want to change anything in what I solved and take credit for stuff I haven’t done so I will just leave BIG LINK to this doc file by @3ksal that contains a lot, some stuff which I would have never been able to do

TO SET THINGS DOWN FIRST! I might have been a bit too late to investigate all of this since I started this basically few posts before it offically ended. Some stuff seems to have changed and I have missed it :( So we start off with Henrik’s blog posting a text post containing a nice big link.

This link leads to a Vimeo upload with a placeholder text title, black and white patter and seems to contain morse code and someone speaking, all distorted. (I don’t know if there is anything behind that speech, I’m not good at all with such stuff. I also tried to solve the morse code, really tried, downloaded the video to slow it down but I just really have trouble with making out audio so... sad but I gave up on it) Besides that there is one QR-code displayed 2 times! That code is a Imgur link which will lead to this

A blog @97-110-116-105 . Now I found this blog way before I saw this so it was kinda useless to solve and the blog already had some posts on it. From what it looks like it belongs to Anti, so I’ll just call it Anti’s blog.

The actual story starts of with Henrik telling us his blog has seem to got all posts deleted and he has memory problems. He finds out he has some logs laying around and starts posting them along with general text posts about his situation and answered asks. After the link the first suspicious post there is this one. Some zalgo and some binary which translates to: 

Someone clearly mocking Schneep On his post “a small update” is also the first time google doc links is added under the word “God”. More links like this are on some other posts later too

Some time later Schneep’s blog posts a second post similar to his very first one, it contains a Vimeo vid uploaded by the same user who uploaded the first one. It’s a glitched out distorted old ad for Camel cigarettes and wouldn’t you know? There is another QR-code in it! This time it links to a private page on Anti’s tumblr.

It shows us a morse code and a hexadecimal one.

First and foremost: I haven’t solved this. The hexadecimal code brings ”aGFwcGllc3RiaXJ0aGRheS5jYXJyZC5jw==“ which def looks like AES again but I can’t make out the key. I’m sure its in the morse code from the post plus from the video description and title but different decoders give me different answers and it just looks like a lot of random letters. Might be an anagram (that contains the word fun) but idk...

Sometime later regarding the story you might have noticed a 3rd blog from Chase that is also part of the story. It doesn’t have any hidden codes on it like the others. He interacts with some of Henrik’s posts and later even posts a convo between them!

But after some time we get a post of him on the floor along with a google doc that sounds like someone had shot him.

Sort of hidden in some text posts throughout is a whole seperate website! (it is linked on 2 different posts) 

NOTE that there was a countdown! 

Taking a look at the header you can clearly tell it was counting down to Henrik’s birthday. I only found this on said date so i didn’t get to see this live, only when you click on the link it appears for half a second. And of corse... more aes code...

A sweet little message! Doesn’t mean much so back onto what the website showed after the countdown:

A german “welcome” greets us and you can have a dialogue with someone (sounds like Anti imo). 

You will reach an end and depending on if the one you’re talking to liked your answers or not you will be guided to a blank page or to a site on Schneep’s blog.

Sneaky little creator has changed the picture on this page and I wouldn’t doubt it didn’t change before I saw it too, I only got to see 2 images though. First time visting I got this

Probably a picture of infusion bags hanging? highly saturated with filters on top. Changing levels of the picture in the right top corner you can see some binary but...

The picture is small... and it was way too hard to read no matter how I changed filters so what/if that means anything is still out there and hopefully not too important.

This is all that was to the extra site if the picture doesn’t change again. (I checked the source code too but since it seems to be made with the help of a website tool i doubt you can even hide anything in there)

Anti’s blog starts off with this

I fairly simply Cipher that really doesn’t mean anything(or does it?). It translates to: I REMEMBER IT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY

In general he laughs around at the other’s misery and mocks them.Here he links to some imgur post 

(”DO YOU WANT HIM TO DIE?”) Doesn’t look like there is something hidden in it, but I have to appreciate the work, it looks really cool imo

In another post he tags it something weird looking but the “?=“ definitely told me it should be a youtube video link. I have tried to solve this and the “https://youtube.com/watch?=v” is sure but the rest of the link is hard to do. I have put it through Caesar Cipher decoder and decoded it by hand a few times, but the link doesn’t seem to work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9i73ddxye4c I don’t know if it’s on my part and I actually did do something wrong, the video was deleted or lil Anti just played a trick all along.

Looks like Henrik’s workplace with all these logs, a phone with broken screen, sticky notes and empty coffee cup and yet again!

Another code...There is one across all and then even damn morse code on the red one, really doesn’t make it easier to read with the 3d effect on top. I like to think I typed it off right and that “XILDM” was the key but it didn’t work. Plus the morse code is hard to read and I’m not sure in which order it should be so.... this is still open to be solved.

The last suspicious thing he posts is an audio post that sounds like an old clock ticking (?) getting louder. The name of it is yet another code and the picture a QR-code! The QR-code just leads to this, a google search for “does space have a sound” I thought for sure that would be the key to the code to solve it but no. I even thought ‘Maybe the key is the answer’ or the zalgo tag but no, don’t know what this one means.

All in all... I really enjoyed this!! I’m really sad to leave a bunch of things unsolved but I am not the brightest person for this. I haven’t seen anything like this in the community and outside it only a few that aren’t that interesting. While many will do a lot of code solving like this one, this also had more story and so much extra work put into it. Seriously, Google docs, the logs that were actual scanned papers, photographs, polaroids, The videos, A whole other website, The amazingly edited gifs and 3 whole blogs. A lot was put into this and I really like it, kudos to the creator, it was a really neat project! :)

Responding in reverse order because my thoughts about the last thing you said coalesced first.

Okay, with my last thing, broadly, my point is that there is more for the fandom to talk about in the problems with the Aes Sedai than with most of the other groups listed. My thing with the alcoholism is that a lot of Whitecloaks have issues - these are, a lot of them, guys who are having a bad time, psychologically speaking. My thing with the literacy is that there aren't a whole lot of options for someone who wants a basic education in this setting if circumstances (nobility with tutors, the decent quality home-education apparently going on in the Two Rivers) don't provide that as part of their upbringing. Neither of those things is particularly to the Whitecloaks' credit - it's reflective of broader societal issues that don't get much direct discussion in the series. But there's not much reason for discussion within the fandom of how awful the Whitecloaks are, because we're all pretty much on the same page about that. I could absolutely have been clearer on this part.

Same deal with the Seanchan. There's not much reason for fans discussing the series to speak scathingly about them, because while they're presented with a creditable degree of nuance, they're bad guys, and I think most of us are in agreement about what they're doing wrong and why it's wrong. Except possibly Brandon Sanderson, who was way tf too comfortable with damane continuing to be a thing.

I believe in the, idk, potential of the Black Tower? I want good things for them. Honestly I barely fucking remember that conversation between Androl and Pevara, although if you can tell me what chapter it's in, I'll go take a look at it. Not generally a fan of anything about Androl except his interpersonal dynamic with Pevara. (And I do mean just the interpersonal dynamic, not the bilateral bonding. That's... interesting, but idk I don't like it.) However, my issue with the White Tower's training includes the number of girls who die during testing, which iirc isn't addressed much of anywhere in the text. The test for the shawl, in particular, doesn't need to have anything like as many fatalities as it does.

Tumblr is like, where I am, mostly? And like, one Discord server. I've certainly seen a fair amount of gross misogyny from fans of the series on like, Facebook, which is high on the list of reasons I don't talk to people about Wheel of Time on Facebook anymore. I'm not on any of the other social media and can't speak to what goes on there.

I'd want to know a whole lot more about the history of the Black Ajah, honestly. Like, I assume Elisane Tishar was someways being influenced by the Shadow when she decided it was a good idea to still every group of women who could channel who weren't willing to join her, but afaik that's not like, established in canon. We don't mostly know for sure what was the result of Black Ajah influence and what wasn't prior to like, the 970s NE. We don't know when the Three Oaths came into existence in their current form. We know the first oath came after the trolloc wars, and that the second was practiced almost since the Breaking, but not whether it was always enforced with the oath rod. And I'm rambling.

There are more interesting conversations to be had in criticizing the Aes Sedai than in criticizing most of the organizations you listed, because their ideals are higher and farther reaching than most of them, because we see more of the Aes Sedai over the course of the series, and because some of their actions are presented more... ambiguously than we see with most other groups. Like, frexample, there are issues with how Warders are handled, and that doesn't get a whole lot of discussion within the text, it's just kinda...there. Which is gonna tend to promote discussion within the fandom. You're right, obviously, that they're not mostly horrible people, and looking at your response I get the sense that we're seeing different things in terms of how people talk about Aes Sedai, so I may have been responding to a different issue that what you were actually talking about, in which case I apologize.

I GOT CAUGHT AT SEPHORA

Ok y'all so this happened literally probably 2 hours ago so I’m still fucking shook but omg I have to share this. So today started out as just a regular day at the mall with my lifting partner. I knew I wanted some concealer and a beauty blender and I had that in mind but we hit up American Eagle on a whim. It was my first time trying a hook and trying AE but I walked out with the 2 of the cutest pink shirts and a navy jacket and I was feeling prettyyy fuckin good about myself, feelin verryyyy confident at this point. I felt so proud I walked right into Sephora with no worries. I grabbed what I wanted, tested some shit out ( I tested the YSL Touché Eclat concealer btw and holy shit, dark circles? Gone. Lack of sleep? Erased. That shit was the BOMB) Anyways I head to the back where the haircare stuff is bc no one was there and begin to conceal. I put in a lip gloss and I try to put in my beauty blender but it gets fucking STUCK in the opening of my bag. But I guess the haircare isle wasn’t as empty as I thought bc right as I’m pushing the beauty blender in my bag an SA fucking swoops in around the corner at like 1000 mph asking “Can I help you with anything!” And in a split second her eyes dart down to my hand pushing the beauty blender in my bag and she almost freezes,her smile fades and she looks back up at me. I kid you not guys my heart fucking DROPPED. I immediately thought “FUCK FUCK FUCK ABORT MISSION ABORT!!”“ I say no thank you but she still stares at me but eventually leaves. My heart starts racing and I can feel myself turning red as I look at dry shampoo to try to play it off. But from the corner of my eye I see her fucking just standing there, staring dead at me. She comes up and is like “yeah I love this dry shampoo it’s really great.” And she goes on about it and we kinda talk about dry shampoos but the vibe was so fucking weird the whole time. I was pretending like I was interested but you could cut the tension with a knife, I could clearly tell she was onto me. I ask if there’s any like samples of the dry shampoo and says she could check and really quickly and half assed “checks” for it. (She didn’t really check, I know she didn’t want to leave me alone) and she comes back and says the words of death “would you like a bag for your items.” I say sure and she gives me one and I ditch that area fast as fuck I’m tryna get outta thereeee. But was I’m making my way around I hear her talking to another SA and I see them communicating from my peripheral vision and by then I knew I was fucked bc all the SA’s knew what was up at that point. Now I’m starting to feel helpless like a fucking cornered animal bc now I’m surrounded by SA’s who know I was caught red handed. I could literally FEEL all their eyes on me. Then the manager comes up and is like “Can I help you with anything?!” Mind you her eyes are darting down from my bag and back up to me. Looking back on it it’s pretty funny how hard she tried to remain eye contact and fake smile when all she wanted to do was look in my bag😂 I couldn’t even muster up a smile back I felt so cornered and uncomfortable. So I give my bag to an SA who I could tell wasn’t suspicious of me, she was chill, and I get like a cheap little sample of the lip injection lip gloss and pay for it at the register. I know you don’t have to buy little things to seem less suspicious when you lift but I was caught red fucking handed and I felt like I had no choice :/ thank fucking god I brought money and my Sephora insider card bc it made me look like I was actually planning to spend money there. And right as I’m paying guess who I see staring dead at me from a cross the counter?? The same fucking blonde SA that caught me in the first place. Fuck you bitch🖕🏼🖕🏼I know you’re just trying to do your job, but could you do it a little worse IM TRYING TO FUCKING ROB YOUU! Lmfao so yeah, I leave the Sephora feeling embarrassed af. I tell my partner what happened and she asked if I wanted to go to lush then bc I was planning to go but at that point my mood was already crushed. And yeah guys that’s the story… I’m NEVER fucking hitting up that Sephora again….ever. My confidence in Sephora has dropped dramatically after today but I still want their shit!!! Ahh I really wanted that concealer!! 😤 Maybe I’ll try the online fraud method?? Idk. But yeah I’m watching crime shows and eating vegan brownies to comfort my self now lol.
